Audacious autoplay audio CD

Hello,
I want to configure Thunar to autoplay audio CD's with audacious.
The problem is I can't find a way to make audacious play an audio CD on startup. The only way I managed to get audacious to play an audio cd is to go to the playlist screen and do 'Add cd'
Running 'audacious /dev/cdrom' or similar things doesn't work.
Anyone has an idea on how to do that?

Does this happen with all cd's or one in particular?

Try a cleaning disc. You can get them at places like Radio Shack.
If nothing helps your optical drive has probably failed. You can replace it or purchase an inexpensive external drive. Don't buy the Apple SuperDrive as it won't work with macs that have a built in drive.

Hello, I am a new user of IWeb and, while I find it very easy to use, I am baffled about how to add music to a page. My aim is to add the song (taken from Itunes so presumably correctly formated) in such a way that it will play automatically when the page is loaded. I am correct in assuming that this function (autoplay) is not available in IWeb earlier than the '08 version?

I don't think that "autoplay" per se is the problem — it's more to do with the fact that iWeb '06 doesn't give you the tools to +easily set up+ autoplay — such as iWeb 08's +HTML Snippet+ window and the QuickTime tab in iWeb 08's Inspector. Adding HTML in iWeb '06 is explained in this article: _iWeb FAQ - (alternative) Adding HTML_.
It's not quite what you want, but take a look at Apple's "My iTunes widget". But again, this would be much easier to incorporate into your site using iWeb 08's +HTML Snippet+ window.

Play button on iPad otherwise autoplay (with Buzz sound)

Hi,
I'm working on a project with a timeline and voice over. I found a very handy script (buzz.js) which loads the audio file(s) (mp3, ogg, aac) and play the timeline when it's done loading. So everything cool till there. But on iOs / iPad it's impossible to autoplay audio.. So I was wondering if i'ts possible to show a play button when the user is using an Ipad and autoplay on other platforms / browsers...

GarageBand on the iPad doesn't have a "record in the background" feature which would let you do what you are asking. When you exit GarageBand or switch to another app you may see a red band with the word "Recording" but this is just GarageBand saving the state of the active song.

How to disable autoplay in windows media player, normally play FLAC and watch AVI with two or more audio streams

0x1) is there a way to disable annoying autoplay feature in windows media player: when i play music in "now playing" mode and insert a disc which contains some video WMP stops playing music and asks me to play that disc or starts playing without any questions (e.g. when i insert DVD). in addition when WMP asks before playing it proposes three options: resume playing, go to library and play previous list. choosing "resume playing" you'll not resume the music just played, you'll start playing inserted disc. if you choose "play previous list", it also won't continue the playlist i was just playing, rather a playlist or track before the one i was just playing! very strange behaviour, isn't it?
note that this happends only in "now playing" mode, when library is active everything works fine.
please don't tell to go to control panel and change autoplay settings: it takes no effect. it works when WMP is not started or if WMP is not in "now playing" mode, otherwise WMP ignores that settings and demonstrates his "very intellectual"automatic playing.
0x2) when playing FLAC files windows media player doesn't show progress indicator, it always is positioned at the beginning (or at the place where you've positioned it). if i select multiple FLAC files and click "play with windows media player" it will play only the last file from the selected list.
0x3) when playing AVI files with two or more audio tracks WMP plays only one of them and gives no opportunity to change autio track. in wmp of vista it plays all the audio tracks at the same time (!).
If there is no solution for these problems, please tell me where i can send a feedback about my complaints?

i use K-Lite 5.2 full codec pack. in the k-lite codec tweak tool report i see madFLAC.ax installed. i'll try the Xiph.org filters.

It sounds like we need to troubleshoot the software on your device as that is not expected behavior.
I would perform steps 1, 3 and 5 from the iPhone Troubleshooting Assistant found here http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/phone/. If you get to step 3, then I suggest closing all the apps. Here is step 1 to get you started:
Restart iPhone
To restart iPhone, first turn iPhone off by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until a red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider and iPhone will turn off after a few moments.
Next, turn iPhone on by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Is iPhone not responding? To reset iPhone, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If your device does not turn on or displays a red battery icon, try recharging next.

"Autoplay" doesn't work for playing audio in mobile Safari (iphone)?

I have 2 problems that would like solve, please help me. The first one is I've noticed that QuickTime doesn't play audio automatically when setting attribute "Autoplay" to true. The second my problem that I need playback audio in background mode, that is without opening Quicktime player window. Below my code how I try doing it...

QuickTimeKirk, thanks a lot for your answer, but I'm interesting in Mobile Safari, not IE, FF or Opera This is these problems appear only for iphone browser, for others ones it works fine, even in Safari for Windows. So, autoplay still doesn't work... And please consult me about quicktime player browser's plugin, I mean why I cannot play sound with javascript function [documetn.getElementById("qtplayer").Play()] without opening sound track in plugin window? I really need playback in background. Or is it feature of quicktime?

Playing an audio CD with audacious

Pardon my ignorance, I've been away from Arch for a few months, but how can I play an audio CD using the audacious music player. I have 2 DVD/CDROM drives, but I can't find either one listed anywhere on any menu under audacious. I'm sure I used to do this. Maybe a recent system upgrade somehow caused that capabiligy to be lost? Any suggestions?

For me, there is nothing under the Services menu.
If I start audacious from a terminal window I get just this, which appears to be an informational message:
$ audacious

ALSA issue: stuttering audio on pause (mplayer, audacious, et al.)

I have the following problem with ALSA on my laptop: When I try to pause a video or an audio file in mplayer or audacious, both mplayer and audacious begin to stutter and repeat the last bit (probably the last sample) over and over again. The same happens in firefox, when I try to close a tab (or window) which plays some audio (both html5 and flash).
Firefox and mplayer do not give me any information on the command line, but audacious reports:

I'm only using ALSA for audio playback, not pulseaudio or any other soundserver, so I guess that the problem is probably due to some misconfiguration in ALSA.

Any ideas of how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

For some strange reason the problem has begun recurring after about 20 minutes. I did not upgrade or change any files. This is truly strange.
Any other recommendations?

You need to remove the association that Windows has with that particular file type. To do that, you need to open Windows Explorer. From there, click on Tools, then Folder options. Click on the tab that is named file types. You then need to find the extension for the photos that appear in the iPhone, then click that registered file type. Once you do that, there is a section to select the program to open that file type with. You can click on the change button, and that will allow you to change the program that it opens with, or restore the default. There is also a box that can be checked to always use the selected program. If you unselect it, it will prompt you next time on what program to use.

No Audio Everytime It Autoplays any DVDs

everytime I insert a dvd it will autoplay it just like it should but then it doesn't have audio, this didnt start happening when I first got it(I just recently bought my macbook like a week ago). Something must of happened, now I have to insert my DVD and use the remote to restart the movie and then the audio will be there, what the heck is going on, im not liking my Mac already.
my second question is everytime I turn on my macbook the brightness will be at the lowest setting, Im like what the **** is this crap, I have to press F4 like 10 times everytime after I start it up, I want it kept at the highest brightness, how do i do this please help.

Try to repair permission, application folder > utilities > disk utility > repair permission.
Open your dvd player, dvd player > preference > disk set up > select disc default for all language section and system audio output for audio.
And if you use battery when you start up your macbook, open system preference > energy saver > uncheck reduce brightness when using....

But when audio starts video stopps playing. Is this expected behaviour¿

Yes, that's expected behavior. Playing a media clip stops any other media clip.

Does Firefox 22 no longer permit autoplay of audio/video?

I built some websites using
<embed src="xyz.mp3" autostart="true" loop="false" hidden="true"></embed>
to autoplay some audio, and it used to work in Firefox up until release 21 or 22 -- my audio no longer plays. Is my code now obsolete or does Firefox now disallow autoplay? Notes: (1) other browsers still autoplay; (2) not all sound is blocked in Firefox -- I can still play and hear Youtubes, for example.

If the embed has a hidden attribute then Firefox will not play the file, so you need to use other ways if you really want to hide the player (CSS: style="height:0; width:0;")<br />
You may also need to use autostart="1" instead of true.

How can I get an audio file to autoplay in slideshow ??

I have created a photo gallery as one of my web pages promoting my wedding images.
I think it would be very effective if the slide show button on my photo gallery page would magically run an audio file of my choosing from my iTunes library as it ran the show.

I am not sure about SWF support in Acrobat 8.x, however, if it is supported, you will have to add it to the PDF after the PDF has been created. You can leave the space for it in your FrameMaker document and add it via the Mulimedia Tool.
I do know that SWF is fully supported in Acrobat 9.x, but in this case you will also have to add the SWF to the PDF after converting the FrameMaker document. To do this, marquee and area on the PDF using the Flash Tool; Tools > Multimedia > Flash Tool. You can also simply double click on the PDF with the Flash Tool. Support for SWF, and several other multimedia file types is much stronger in Acrobat 9.
