Audible book on ipod in car

I listen to books downloaded from audible.com to my ipod in my facotory fitted connector in an Acura RL and it usually works fine. However, from time to time, it jumps from one part to an other after starting the car up. I think there is a power surge when the car first starts which messes up things but I;m not sure. Does any one have any idea what is going on and how to fix it5?
Macbook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.8) Also have Windows XP

make sure the hold button is on when you turn the ipod off. when you start the car again the ipod wont start until you take hold off

Can't see Audible books in iPod Nano 5th gen

I can't figure out how to play audiobooks from audible on my iPod Nano 5th generation. I can synch and play them on my iPhone 5 just fine, by selecting Audiobooks under Music. However, there is no Audiobooks option under music on my nano. There is also no iBooks application. I checked iTunes summary and my nano software is up-to-date for that nano (version 1.0.2). Has anyone run into this and found a solution? Thanks, any advice appreciated.

iBooks are not compatible with your Nano.
Did you add the Audible books to your iPod Nano the same way you added you did the iPhone?
Head to Settings -> General -> Music Menu and make sure Audiobooks has a check mark next to it.

HT201272 audible books wont download to my additional ser 4 but will remain on my ser 1. all other media is on both series ipods. How do I get ny ser 4 ipod to accept audible books

I wish to transfer my 34 audible books to my additional series 4 ipod (recent acquisition) The sync is successful with all music, ibooks, podcasts etc. Audible remains and syncs on my series 1 ipod as does all other media. any suggestions please?

Ipod touch playing audible books at an accelerated speed

My ipod touch is playing my audible books at an accelerated speed. My music seems to be fine, so just the books

When you are listening to an Audible book, if it shows the progression bar at the top, you will have three buttons under it. On the left is two arrows (repeat). Center is a circled arrow (go back x seconds). On the right is a square with a number in it. (Speed) There are three speeds, 1/2x, x1 & x2. When playing at normal speed, the button will be white, x2 and 1/2x it will be blue. Touch it until it says 1.
If you don't see the progression bar and buttons, touch the screen anywhere and they will come on. Then you will be able to see what I mean.
I hope this helped. I love my Audible Books. So much so, in fact, I have a 64GB Touch with only my Audible books on it.

I got a new computer and downloaded my Audible books but I can't load them on my IPod because it says they cannot be played on my IPod. Can anyone help me?

Bought a new computer. Loaded ITunes, and downloaded my Audible books. First time I plugged in my IPod, the music loaded but the books did not. A message said the books could be plyed on my IPod. Anyone know why?

Never mind. Changed the format to 4 and it works.

I bought an iPhone 4S last year. Today was the 5th time that one of my Audible books was suddenly cut off 3/4 into the book.The solutions offered to correct the problem did not work. Next phone won't be an iPhone. And books will go on different devices.

Does anybody else have problems with Audible books being cut off in mid-listening, and none of the solutions suggested comes even close to being applicable? It's my 5th time in a year. And I've had it. The interruptions and consequent time consuming attempts to find a solution, and once I do, again spending way too much time finding the place in the book, where I was so rudely interrupted have pushed my patience to the limit. I downloaded my books on different devices, and use my iPhone for calls and texting. Once it's time to get a new Smartphone I'll stay far, far away from any Apple product. I don't care to waste time to get my smartphone to do what it is supposed and offering to do. And I am really getting ****** of when I am driving in the middle of nowhere, listening to a good book and Apple decides that that would be a good time to put a stop to that. Mostly I wanted to get a response from Apple Support, and am not sure how I was channeled into an Apple Support Community (what a ridiculous term!). My problem is with Apple itself. But not for long anymore......

The only way I can play the books is going through the iPad search and typing a part of the title. I am then able to play it, although it still will not show in the library. I can not use the search function within the library, it has to be the main iPad search.
Most of my books are using the "Enhanced" format (it is compatible since I can play them). I am also selecting specific books from the "Books" tab in iTunes. I tried choosing the option to sync all books and the only change is that the folder will show a higher number.
Any ideas on how to get the titles to show in the list.

How do you get the nano to repeat a minute or so when listening to audible book. not the whole chapter

I have an ipod nano and load audible books on it. How do you get it to repeat a small segment without going back to the beginning of the chapter?

Audible Book file size?

I have not purchased any audible books from ITMS yet. Is there some way to determine the file size that will be downloaded prior to purchase? There may be an obvious way but I haven't been able to find it and I want to get an idea of how much space on my hard drive and ipod I will need.

The size of the files will vary depending on the length of the book.
Here are some example sizes:
Book 1: split into 4 separate files of 2 to 2.5 hours each. The file sizes vary from 29 to 36 MB.
Book 2: split into 3 files of 2.25 to 2.5 hours each. The file sizes vary from 31 to 35 MB.

Audible Book Not Transfering

I have two audible books that are actually part 1 and part 2 of the same audible book that I got through a e-book store. It was imported in to Itunes, but won't transfer over to my ipod. When I try to it says it won't transfer because I am not authorized to play them on this computer. But there's apparently no way to get them authorized.

The Audible authorization requires a Audible 'user name' and 'password.' Audible allows their books to be downloaded to three computers. It keeps track. If you do not know the Audible account, you may have to get your own account.
I have done this recently to share my wife's account.

Audible book showing up in music playlist

I downloaded audible books and they correctly showed up in the audiobook file. However, they are showing up in my 'Songs' list on my Ipod. When I connect my ipod to my Mac/Itunes, it does not show the audio book in the wrong place but if I am playing songs on Ipod, when it comes to the audio book, it starts playing the book. I want to know how to get the audiobook out of the song list.

Thanks for that! Shame there isn't also an option to label TV shows as TV shows because I've been converting some Elgato EyeTV recordings for the iPod.

Can't add audible books to iTunes 11

I recently updated to iTunes 11 and I can no longer add audible books to my iTunes.
When I try to drag the downloaded audiobook file to iTunes it just doesn't do anything. The blue outline on the window in iTunes lights up like I have it selected to go in, but when I let go the audiobook never appears. It does the same thing when I select the file via the Add to Library menu. There is no error, no sound, no nothing. The audiobook just doesn't show up in iTunes.
I have redownloaded the .aa audiobook file several times with same results. I have tried downloading different audiobooks that I already own just to try those out, and when adding those .aa files, I am met with the same issue. I have tried each of the different audible formats as well to no avail.
The audible books I already have in my iTunes work just fine. I deauthorized my audible account and reauthorized it by trying to listen to an audiobook already in iTunes and it worked fine. I have restarted my iTunes and my computer several times.
Anybody else having this issue? Any ideas on a fix? It's a real bummer.

I tried several times to add a new audiobook to iTunes 11 and it didn't show up. But the next time I synched my ipod, the display showed that it was copying the book to my ipod and it's there now and now I can see my book in iTunes. Weird, but at least I can get the book onto my ipod, which was the whole point!

Problem resuming Audible books

Under warrantly, my original 4GB Nano died with click wheel problems. I easily had it swapped out at near Apple store for another 4GB unit (likely refurb). My problem never occured before, but 90%+ since. When I power Nano back on after a longer time off (day or so), my Audible books resume from where I stopped BUT with the super high speed voice (chipmunk-ish). It's not the reading speed has changed as I've checked. The only way to correct is menu back to top, play some music and then back down to Audible content. No known problems with music. Have always used Audible format version 3. Don't want to go with iTune 7 until their Audible bugs are fixed. Any ideas? Go back to Apple store? Version 1.2 on Nano.

across anything like this yet. I did want to note
that I've always downloaded from Audible in their "4
format" (which, they tell me, is the optimal format
for my 4th Gen iPod). I don't use a nano, so I'm not
sure what, if any, the differences are.
What I have noticed, is that sometimes when I try to
resume an audible file, it opens it as though it's
already played through to the end, and then it throws
me back to my main menu.
You may want to start with restoring the iPod, as
this could be a software/firmware issue with the
device.

What I ended up having to do to fix my issue was go
back to Audible.com and click on "my library" and
download the file a second time. I then reimported
the new file to iTunes in place of the older one,
synced the iPod, and it worked OK after that.
Just thought I'd throw some ideas in.

Thanks for the reply. I too download in Format4. I noticed the download software seems to be device specific. I have 2 iPods and havent experienced a prob w. my 30gig iPodPhoto. only having an issue w. the 2gig Nano Gen1. So i just downloaded the right software for my iPod and also am using the software which automatically puts the downloads into iTunes..if this remedy fixes the prob, i will post again here

Audible books lockup

about 50% of the time when I try to play an audible book the video screen slides left about halfway then locks. If I do a reset then I lose all listings of audiobooks. They are still in my nano but I have to find them using artist (looking for the author's name

On your iPod head to Settings -> Audiobooks and choose a slower playback speed.

Audible books and music get shuffled together

We use an iPod mini to listen to Audible books and to listen to music. The book selections are large (6 to 8 hours). When we try to shuffle songs, one of the book selections start. How can we exclude the books from the music?

Thanks for the info, but that's not really my problem. I know how to convert CDs to iTunes m4b audiobooks; all of my audiobooks are labeled in iTunes as audiobooks. The problem is that when I put them on my Touch, it sorts them into Audible downloads and iTunes Store downloads, instead of just putting them all into the Audiobooks list. I want to see all of audiobooks in one list, without Audible having its own little folder.
