Audig

My pc usually hang after a few mintes when I am playing a game. These days I am playing "Just cause" and "Broken Sword". I had the same problem with " Call of duty 2" but it worked fine with EAX off. Unfortunately "Just cause" dose not have this option.
I have a sound blaster ,
GB Ram
and I am using Gforce 6800,
Motherboard , Nvidia "nForce" 3 Ultra Based K8N Neo 2 Designed for AMD Athalon 64 Processors

if it's not an IRQ issue then hardware stability problem
never mix cheap hardware with good hardware
also you can do some test in dos to check the RAM and CPU
if they are stable under normal conditions
some test can be run from windows like prime95 for the CPU
also if you can check the CPU, chipset temperature and voltage from the bios
and better to test the PSU using a multimeter under full load (2v, 5v & 3.3v)
or just throw the sound blaster sound card in the trash if the problem started after you switched the sound card

  • Audigi 4 Pro - No replacement product

    Hi,
I have an Audigi 4 Pro which has served me well for the last 5/6 years if not more.
It still works but its only PCI, as more motherboards are designed without PCI slots its becoming harder to keep it going whilst supporting new technologies to the max. I started to look for a replacement, which I would have thought could easily turn to Creative Labs again, but I can't, there is no direct replacement available. There are no breakout boxes, and new cards dont have the connectors available to be able to plug in an Audigy 4 break out box.
Are there any plans for some breakout boxes with a newer PCIe card?
Its not like I can turn to another manufacturer, E-MU also?lack a break out box and no one else does them?
I thought this was what made Creative Labs?above the rest, but clearly?a poor strategy has been put in place.
    Thanks,

What do you mean by E-MU lack of break out box? http://www.emu.com/products/product....9&product=9007 have it.
I think it was poor stategy to produce all-in-one products with no real value in any of advertised applications. There is no true market for such things.
Au 4 Pro even lacks 44. with exceptionally low quality resampling and have relati'vely poor inputs for the price. Also lacking balanced in/out for home studio monitors and related equipment. Also this card combines top quality CS4398 DAC for high PR SNR value with lowest quality opamps like NJM 4558. A4 Pro is garbage, almost immediately replaced by much more advanced X-Fi Elite Pro. Still if you serious about recording and mixing even a bit, then E-MU branded products is much better.

  • Lock ups and Freezing solved on my Audig

After days of trying different stuff to resolve this problem where screen locks up and looping squealing plagued my computer, I think I have finally resolved the problem. It appears that one of the programs running in my system tray was the culprit. I shut down everything in my system tray and then tried BF2 and it finally worked and has been working consistently. I do not know yet which program was causing the problem ( I'm still working on finding which one), but I have weeded out my antivirus (AVG free), my firewall?(Zonealarm),? Musicmatch Jukebox ( which I really suspected, but does not appear to be the one) and ?my Logitech wireless mouse software. Still got to reactivate Quicktime, Corecenter ( an MSI overclocking tool) Nastromo loadout manager, Instant Messenger and a couple of others. What ever the conflict in the program that is causing the problem is directly conflicting with my Audigy 2 card. I could remove the card and the problem would go away using onboard sound. But I was very disturbed that my Audigy 2 was not working. I tried removing ram, I tried using different pci slots, and lets not count the number of times that I removed and reinstalled drivers and software. Though I well give a little credit to finding the problem to this forum. There is a post advising to go to msconfig and disabling a bunch of the start up programs while doing driver removal and reinstall. After reinstalling last driver I went ahead and ran BF2 before restarting computer ( while all programs in systray were off ) and it ran flawlessly. Then I restarted computer all my normal background software loaded up. I fired up BF2 and bam there was the same old lockup and squeal. So I just went to the system tray and shut down everything and it runs smooth as butter. Hope this helps I know from reading the forums there are alot other people having the same problem.

I would be concerned that you may have a power supply going bad. Unfortunately the only way to test this theory is to replace it. If you do replace it may sure you get one that is rated at a high enough wattage to supply your system. I use a 500 watt power supply. I have had power supplies to go bad on me in the past. Sometimes the power supplies will not go entirely out, they just stop producing as much power as they normally would. This can cause some weird things to happen in your system. I've had one go bad and it was providing enough juice to let my computer cut on, but the video card wasn't getting enough?juice to operate thus I was getting a blank screen. I would also like to know if you are overclocking. Sometimes overclocking can cause heat issues that could cause a similar problem to what you are having.

  • Remote for Audig

My dog chewed up the remote for my Audigy 2. It's the RM-000 model.
Anyone have any idea on how to go about getting a replacement?

No, only the Audigy 4 Pro (SB0380) has a remote control. You probably have an Audigy 4 "non pro" (SB060), which has no firewire/hub/remote control, or Audigy 4 SE, again with nothing of the above.

  • Problem with installing drivers Audig

I re-installed my PC today, but I can't get my SoundBlaster installed properly.
I downloaded the latest driver for my Audigy 2 on Windows XP SP2:
    SBAX_WBUP2_LB_2_09_006.exe
After the installation process on the final Windows reboot it ends with a generic critical failure. The drivers seem installed, my PC finds the Audigy 2 after installation, but the control console doesn't appear, nor am I able to find it in the Creative directory. I do get sound, can play MP3's etc and hear game sounds, although I am not 00% sure whether eax is working properly.
I also tried to install the old drivers from the CD-ROM, which worked. When I use the auto-update afterwards and the driver is installed the console is still there, but doesn't work anymore with reporting that: no soundcard installed/found or something like that.
I tried a couple times and with driver cleaning in between etc, but can't get it working.
Is the current driver broken or do you have some advice on what to do?

it's possible that you don't have nvidia graphic adapter.
for bluetooth issue, make sure you switch the button ( probably front side of your computer ) and activate bluetooth by pressing fn + f5 ( activate it )
after then, if you have bluetooth device, you can install drivers.

  • Convert Problem using Creative MediaSource of Audig

I have been following the instructions for coverting old tapes to mp3 files, but I have not had quite the success I wanted. Here's my problem: Everything records fine except instead of just the "Line In " transfer, I also get what the recorder picks up, such as my talking. Moreover, there is no "line in" only recording source as indicated in the instructions. You get choices, such as "what U hear," "microphone," "mp3/wav," and "analog mix" (line in, CD, etc). I have tried all these. No matter what I try to do, I still hear the outside sounds in my recording. I even took out the microphone from the jack, and I made sure I had the tape player connected to the "line-in" jack (not the microphone jack). Does anyone have suggestions?
    emprof

I think I figured out the problem. I also have a Logitech camera attached to of my computer's usb2 ports. My guess is that it was the culprit responsible for recording the other sounds. I disconnected the camera. Now Creative MediaSource seems to be working when I use the analog mix option.

  • Connecting powered 5.1 speakers to an Audig

This should be an fairly simple question, assuming I wasn't so inept at audio stuff
I just picked up a relati'vely basic 5. speaker system from Kinyo. I used to have it's little brother 4. setup, which plugged into my Audigy 2 just fine. With this 5. setup, it's a whole different ballgame.
I'm mainly confused on what cables it came with, and what cables I need to make it work.
My old 4.'s sub had a 'Y' cord that was hardwired into the back, which essentially was the volume control and split off were green/black (front and back) cables. Those plugged right into my sound card (huray for color matching? lol...) just fine.
The issue is, this new sub has nothing like my old one did, as far as connections. In the back, it obvious has the jacks for the 4 speakers, and a central jack for the center speaker. The only other jacks are what confuse me. There are 4 'inputs', 2 red and 2 white (who knows which is front and which is back...) and then a G9 jack that is labeled as "5. Channel".
The G9 cable on the other end is split into 6, 2 red ends (labeled L and LS), 2 blue (labeled R and RS), one green (labeled C) and one brown (labeled W). This is what confuses the heck out of me :P Obviously this cable isn't going straight to my Audigy, I need to figure out what I can pick up, to make it (or use the 4 RCA inputs on the sub) all work together.
It also came with some RCA cords, one with red/white male plugs on both ends, and another with red/white plugs, but female on one end of the cord and male on the other. I assume these are how I'm going to plug it into the Audigy (using some sorta adapter), but which plugs on the audigy do they go into ?

It's the GZ-50 from Kinyo, unforunately their website doesn't have much for anything (kinyo.com) in the way of downloadable anything.
I tried to plug in the speakers via some mini jack > 2 RCA cords, which work... for the 4 speaks, not the sub though. The only way that can connect, is with this G9 Din cable, with the 6 ends I mentioned before. Could I use these minijack > 2 RCA cords with these ends maybe ? Plug the L and LS (left and left surround, it turns out thats what they are) and plug the minijack into line whatever, repeat with R and RS, and then center/sub ?

  • Need Help Uninstalling the Audig

I have an Audigy 2 SB0240 sound card in the pc. I want to perform a fresh re-install of the original creative disc software & drivers?that came with the card. I need to know in exactly in what order in the Control Panel\ add\remove list should I start uninstalling the below that are installed at present:?#. Creative audio console? 0.90mb
#2. Creative DVD Audio Plugin for Audigy Series? 0.0mb
    #3. Creative Jukebox Driver? 4.09mb
    #4. Creative Media Source 3.04mb
#5. Creative NOMAD II Driver? 90.00mb?I do have the original Sound Blaster Audigy 2 installation and Applications CD. I also do have the program called Driver Cleaner Pro .5 that has a selection tab for removing I assume any creative remnants in the pc or registry after rebooting in safe mode like I do when uninstalling video card drivers. I read the Creative uninstall Faq guide and in the event I cannot remove all the above listed items thru the normal add\remove route the procedure for removing them manually from my pc would not work when you see step 2\line 8 under Uninstalling Sound Drivers. When I hit Start\Run\Browse on this pc nothing comes up for broswing but a screen saying not found. http://ask.americas.creative.com/SRV...ve.com,case=72?This is simply the first time I have had to uninstall the Creative software in order to perform a fresh re-install and I dont want to mess the system up. At present the Audigy device is not even loaded in the pc and is not shown in Device manager. Also does it have to be loaded in device manger in order to uninstall all the Creative associated software & drivers?Regards & Thanks for any replys?

  • Major Issues with Windows XP and Sound Blaster Audig

As mentioned in the post title, I'm using a Sound Blaster Audigy 4 card (recently purchased) and am having issues with Windows XP apparently because of it. When the card is physically installed, but the drivers are not, there are no problems. However, when the drivers are installed, Windows XP's "explorer.exe" crashes on boot, locking up the start menu and any other open windows. Now, I can manually end the explorer.exe application and then reboot it, and things will work... however, I cannot imagine that that is the intended functionality of this card. Additionally, I suspect the card in the failure of a game (Eve Online) but I would assume the issues are related. I've already narrowed the issue down to the Sound Blaster drivers. I've tried booting with the SB drivers but without the video card drivers, and the problem recurred. Every time I boot with the SB drivers installed, it fails. Without them, things seem to run normally. If it helps, I'm using an Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 processor, with GB of DDR800 RAM. I've installed Windows Service Pack 2 and all the other updates. The video card is a Geforce 7950 GT, with the latest NVidia Forceware (93.7) drivers. I've had this problem with both the Audigy drivers on the CD that came with the card and the newest ones downloaded from this website. My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3, which includes onboard sound hardware, but I have disabled it at the BIOS level. I can provide dxdiag information or anything like that if necessary. Does anyone have any advice, suggestions, or have you encountered a similar problem?Message Edited by DerekKatz on 2-04-200603:2 AM

Thanks for the helpful reply Dan
I ran the file, CTZAPXX.exe, like suggested, and it ran without a problem. It installed the files and even required me to reboot my computer!!
However, after a computer restart, I am still in the same boat. Codecs are installed, but the location of the device is "unknown". In Device manager, there are no unknown devices; it shows the codecs in the sound tab, but no actual hardware; as if my sound card does not exist.
I use my computer for music, and my buddy needs me tomorrow night to play some music stored on my computer. I really do appreciate the help I am offered. I do not mean to sound impatient, but I really need this device fixed, or I will have to have him buy me a sound card....

  • SB Audig

Hi. I'm having a problem with the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 drivers. I have already tried the previous solutions and even though Windows XP has appeared to recognize the card after I reinstalled it several times,(I made sure the drivers were completely removed first) I couldn't playback or record sound. Any help that doesn't involve reinstalling part or all of my Windows partition (I am running in dual boot with Ubuntu) would be appreciated.

You should provide a little bit info on the problem... . Make sure you have not muted the sound by mistake (at least WAVE and the Master), by checking Volume Mixer. (It does sound stupid, but?it has happened to me several times, although I consider myself an advanced user)?2. Is there an exlcamation mark on the Audigy 2 ZS in Device Manager? If not, then the driver is installed correctly...

  • Trouble with SPDIF Passthrough and the Audig

I have a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 from Dell and am trying to connect it to Logitech Z-680 speakers. I want to use digital surround sound. I found the instructions on how to do this on Logitech's site. However, I have a problem.
Step 2 states to go to Audio HQ, select 'Device Controls' and then select the 'decoder tab'. My Device Controls does not have a 'decoder tab' nor does it have a 'SPDIF Passthrough' option that I can find. Where do I find the SPDIF Passthrough option?
I have updated all of my drivers and Creative software as far as I can tell. In the Device Controls help it states: "Digital Input Settings is available only if you are using the Optical Digital I/O card or Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Dri've." Does this mean my Audigy 2 from Dell does not support optical out?!
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Janefoe,
Since this card is OEM I would suggest contacting Dell at this time. You can then find out from them if this feature was included with this card and if so how to enable or disable SPDIF Passthrough.

  • Audigy 2 ZX Platinum + Audig

I have installed about a year ago on my PC a second sound card and now I have:? Audigy 2 ZX Platinum with external box - Default Sound Card Audigy 2?I use them because I have a small home studio so I plug in all my instruments and it allows me to record in real time with effects several instruments and mics. They are working in perfection!?The only problem I have is that the remote is no longer working with the external box. It's not a battery problem... I think it's some kind of conflict due having another sound card installed. Is there something I can do so I can use the remote again?Thank you!

  • Soundcard settings for old DOS games??? I have an Audig

I have a Soundblaster Audigy 2 card in my computer, and I want to play some old DOS games. I'm wondering what settings I need to use with it to play these games. I remember how it was back then with the games, but now that things have changed, I am completely lost how to configure my card to play in a fashion that works back then. I have a variation of DOSBox, but I want to try running a game just through normal windows dos.
    Anyway
    Port:
    IRQ:
    DMA:
I'm not sure what to set these. Along with the actual Soundblaster to pick. SB 6, Soundblaster, Soundblaster Pro?

I'm not sure if Audigy 2 has Sound Blaster 6 emulation, but Windows XP (assuming you have it) has Sound Blaster 2.0 emulation.
    Port 220
IRQ 5 or 7 (I forget which one as it's been ages since I used Windows XP to play DOS games)
    DMA
If you have Vista you'll need VDMsound or Dosbox.
If the game has General MIDI (MPU-40), you should pick that instead of Sound Blaster for music.

  • Cannot enable 5.1 playback for stero sources (itunes etc) - Audig

So when I first got this card, when I played music thru itunes it would play through all 6 speakers (I have a kilpsch ultra 5. setup).
I had to reformat so I download the drivers from Creative's website (which didn't include all the programs the orig disc did) and since then when I play music it only plays thru the front two speakers and the sub. when I play a dvd it uses all 6 speakers as it should.
I uninstalled the drivers, used my origional install disc and resintalled all drivers and applications. Now no matter what setting I have enabled, I cannot hear my mp3s on the rear two sepakers. My Current Settings:?Creative speaker settings - Speaker Selection - 5. SpeakersEAX - CMSS 3D tab - I have the "Enable CMSS 3D" box checked, and the current CMSS option (out of 3)??is CMSS (Classic 3D upmix effect....). I have tried all three settings and none of them allow me to??hear

    Hi,
did you, or anyone else managed to fix this?
I've got the exact same problem. I recently re-insalled xp pro (sp2, previously sp), installed the latest drivers (02.09.006) and now the CMSS option does *nothing*. CMSS2 seems to work (but I'm not quite sure what that does anyway). Non-stereo sources such as games work fine, and I know there's nothing wrong with my speaker system.
It's not a massi've problem for me (my logitech's have a hardware stereo->5. upmixer), but I'd like to know why this isn't working anymore.
I tried regressing the drivers back, but that didn't work?
    anyone any suggestions?
    cheers!

  • Advice on buying AV amp and wiring for Audig

    Hi:
I just got a Dell 8400 (P4- 3Ghz) with MS Media Center 2005. It has a Dell Audigy 2 card. I have an entertainment center with a 42" Monitor and a 6 yr old Pioneer AV/Dolby amp that is toast. The speaker system is a Bose Acoustimass 7 for both front and rear which is built into the room. I also have a Sony SA WM20 50 watt SubWolfer.
I want to replace the AV Amp and dri've the whole HEC from my PC using MS Media Center 2005 and it's remote. Any suggestions on what my options would be will be appreciated. I also need to know which type of wiring digital or analog would be best.
    Thanks

I was referring to DVD audio. I ended up using analog outputs to my Denon as it was the only way I could adjust treble, bass, presence, Dolby enchancements etc. .
The PC screen appearance on my 42" ED plasma is not good . I am able to use the plasma as a PC monitor for setting changes (I am very familiar with the settings screen and can move around it easily even though plasma image is not clear) but plasma is useless for general surfing as images are not sharp. I have a Radeon 9800 Pro card (dual monitor setup). I'm told the Radeon is a high end product but using the plasma as a PC monitor leaves much to be desired. Not the sharp images you see in Mark Harmon's office on tv show NIS. Also, have codec problems with card when watching DIVX movies. Have to change card settings to make plasma primary and computer LCD monitor secondary. (ATI Radeon recommends configuring LCD as primary, plasma as secondary). Don't know what kind of luck you'll have with your Mitsubishi.
I use Gyration wireless keyboard/mouse for plasma (in addition to wired keyboard/mouse with computer in equipment closet). It works great but then again I don't use plasma as PC monitor due to lack of clear image. PC is thirty feet away from viewing seating, behind one wall.
Why conduit's I would try generic S cable as a test to see if your going to be able to use Mitsubishi. If it works out, you may want to upgrade to a video quality S cable with integral shielding. I use a 30' VGA cable (RGB video) for MCE2004 programs. I seem to recall that 30' was as far as you wanted to go with video cabling? Hope this hel
