Audigy 1 + Audigy 2 ZS Platinum + Vist

So I decided to plug in my old audigy to have an extra sound card to play music and use with ventrilo.
Once I got around some problems getting the driver installed I noticed that I get no sound whatsoever out of the Audigy . When I checked the device properties for the audigy I noticed there was no tab for "Tone," "Custom," nor "Levels."
However the Audigy 2 ZS works 00%.
anyone else try this or another combination of different model Audigys?
What are the odds that this combo ever working under vista?
-- judging from some of the complaints about the lack of updates I'm thinking never?

ps.
Specifically, my testing was done on an onboard Promise 378 RAID 0 setup. The following setup was configured:Windows XP (Tested both Home & Pro)Intel Pentium 3.4C Ghz HT 800FSB2GB Corsair TWINX PC3200ASUS P4C800 Deluxe2xWestern Digital 60GB Caviar's Special Edition 8MB Cache in RAID 0Onboard Promise RAID Controller Fasttrak 378 (old and newest drivers tested)Creative Sound Blaster Audigy MP3+ Retail & Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Retail (all available drivers tested)The sound problems are heavily distorted sounds, cracks, cut-outs, and hissing when any type of audio is playing and is especially apparent with using the hard dri'ves. The standard Intel based Non-RAID configuration contains zero problems with any sound. It is only when users are using RAID that these problems occur. It would definitely be in Creative's best interest to investigate this issue and resolve a solution. This problem has been around for a long time, with no support from Creative. Please note, the onboard sound audio was tested with RAID setups and non-RAID setups and there were never any sound problems with either. All available PCI slots were tested and various PCI Latency configurations were tested within the BIOS. No solution was found.
Hi, have you find a solution?
I try to disable the Promise PDC20378 controller and the problem seems disappeared.

I downloaded the vista drivers from web
and its the most lousiest driver pack i ever saw in my life
Is there any way to enable the full audio console(like THX,EAX,Graphic EQ and speaker settings) for Vista?
Why creative is not up to date with the market...
why no Vista support is available for creative.. weird...
any brilliant ideas from anywhere?

Exactly how I feel. It borders on the absurd that 5 months after Vista release Nvidia has nothing but garbage drivers and applications for Audigy2.

• Audigy 2 zs Platinum, Vista 32 Ultim

Hello all,
I'm having a problem installing the Audigy 2 zs Platinum on Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit. The computer boots and sees the card as a "Multimedia Audio Controller" in the device manager. It offers to automatically install drivers, which (naturally) fails. I've downloaded and installed the Vista drivers from Creative support, but after rebooting, the situation remains the same. I've tried pointing a manual driver install at the C:\ dri've, to no avail.
Any advice?
Thanks!
darthbith?

The Audigy 2zs will install 2 devices in Windows. One is the sound and the other is a game port. If you hear sounds then it's working correctly. As correctly as the windows update drivers allow anyway. The game port isn't supported. There won't be any problems if you leave it like this, however if you don't like to see the not installed device then install the game port support pack from here.
A better option yet would be to install the daniel_k drivers from here. These will also install the game port drivers, and offer better sound with more features as well.

• Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Vista 32bit full support

I would like to know if there will ever be full support drivers for the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum card and the I/O box in Vista 32 bit's? I am looking for the ability to use my 6. speakers correctly and being able to record through Line-In on the card. I would hate to think I will have to go to a competitor for a card that works fully in Vista.

He didn't ask this in 2005, he's registered in 2005, he asked this a month ago (just look again back, I made the same mistake too )?About some replies:Yes the audio?stack in Vista must be very difficult to handle, but the companies had MONTHS, there has been A LOT since Vista's Beta versions and RC etc has been around. Everyone had enough time. I just can't play music correctly because of the current Vista drivers. Furthermore, I can't play my favorite game because some sort of application cslled audiodg eats lots of CPU while anything is playing through my sound card: not a good idea for games as they REALLY doN't run smoothly this way. What I want is not an immediate support, but a well planned approximate date for the new, clean, smooth drivers for Vista. Ok, maybe they are not ready and won't be ready until September, so I'll go back to XP. Or they are maybe ready and the developers are making the last adjustments and the driver's coming in a week or two, so I'll stick to Vista. Creative NEEDS to give this information to the customers, no one has to wait with bogus drivers. I'm not blaming Creative for having their drivers not ready, I understand that, it's technically difficult, but they should at least inform us about when will the drivers be ready.

• Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro not recognised by Vista 32 b

Hi
I cannot get my new computer to recognise my Creative Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro Sound Card. Have tried a new mobo, interchanged video cards, HD's, ram, and just about everything else that could ever possibly be incompatible with hte sound card. Have even tried different power supplies. I have all latest drivers installed and have disabled the onboard sound card in the bios.I've had the card for over a year now and it used to work well in my old computer running XP.
Can anyone help
Thanks.
My system: Asus P5K Premium/Wifi, EVGA 8800GTX, Corsair 2GB DDR2 800, Creative Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro, 50GB WD Raptor HD + 250GB Seagate, 620w Corsair power supply, Vista Home Premium 32 bit.

Sound card recognition issues are usually related to software/driver conflicts. I had an Audigy2 that thought it was an Audigy once! I'm confident that a FULL remove of Creative files will solve your issue. It did for me anyway. We've made a list of all the problem Creative files & entries that need to be removed here.http://nomoregoatsoup.wordpress.com/...tall-problems/ After that, your drivers will install properly.Hope this helps

My doubt is: the optical in recognize only stereo sounds? How can I get 5. sounds on my xbox 360?
OBS: The sounds effects on Windows games?and DTS movies are perfect on 5. channels. The problem is concentrad on optical cable only.

• Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum with Vista 64

0Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum with Vista 64Y Hi
I'm considering buying a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum (with front panel) off ebay, but first I'd like to know if certain features will be compatible with my system. I'm running Vista Home Basic 64bit (hardware is an Asus P5Q-E, Q6600, 2GB of RAM, ATI Radeon HD4850, etc). I'll be using this card for my PC's 5. surround sound system (using the stereo outputs), and more importantly, recording some music. I want to achieve this by using the optical S/PDIF port, as my bass guitar effects board has an S/PDIF output and I've got an S/PDIF cable. I'd also like to use the Line In and Mic inputs. The driver before the latest one for this card said that there was no S/PDIF passthrough for Vista. Has the latest driver got everything I need fixed, so I can just plug it in, install the drivers and then be happily recording through these three inputs?
Thanks for the help?

I am brand new to this message system but I am so desperate for help I thought I would try it. After reading lots of comments I find that my problem may be more the rule than the exception. I have an Audigy @ Platinum card and all I ever get from it is crackling and popping. I have been around and around with Creative support but nothing they tell me results in a fix. I am so disgusted at this point that I am ready to just trash the whole thing. I have gone through the BIOS and checked so many settings its a shame. Still crackling and popping. I NEED SPECIFIC ANSWERS FROM SOMEBODY...not just the generic flip the wingle wangle to port xyz and move this to that. here has got to be an answer to this maddening problem. The other thing is that now I can't get my MIDI keyboard to play back. I must have turned something off in the set up process but now I have no idea what to do.
If anyone has any solid answers for me PLEASE come forward with them before I kill someone!

• Vista ultimate x64 any chance to get decoding of dts and dolby digital for audigy 2 zs platinum

hello,
i need the support of deconding dts or dolby digital for my audigy 2 zs platinum pro.
is there any chance to get this feature back in vista ultimate x64?
i hope anybody can help me.
thanks for all

According to Creative, Vista no longer supports the decoding of Dolby and DTS at the driver level, so no, that feature proabably won't added back in the future. It is gone for all the Creative cards.

• Audigy 2 ZS Platinum

First of all, Hi this is my first post here. I own an Audigy ZS Platinum Pro, an SB Li've, and have been a loyal Creative customer since the Soundblaster 2.0 6bit I fitted to my 386SX. I've been working in I. T. for 3 years in various roles, from C++ programming to IT Management. I'm currently certified as an eMCPA, MCP, MCSA, MCSE, MCSA&MCSE+Messaging, and am about to complete a VCP and soon?a Cisco Unified Messaging cert. I'm far from uninformed, I guess that's what I'm trying to get across. Now some other facts:- Windows Vista has been available to corporate customers since November 2006.- Windows Vista has been available to retail customers since January 2007- Windows Vista SDK including Driver SDKs have been readily available since early 2006. Yes you read that right.
Now, I like most people downloaded the Audigy 2 ZS Plat Pro drivers for XP and found they didnt work under Vista. Things like the scale of the volume controls was way off - but Surround sound was strangely enough working. I have a full surround sound system with either SPDIF or just RCA inputs. I use either, I'm not that fussed. I could not use these drivers as there were so many bugs under Vista (the XP drivers) that it wasnt workable. I then waited for well over a month. Eventually, Creative release the first beta drivers for the Audigy 2 ZS Plat Pro under Vista 32bit. I install these drivers, and find to my dismay, everything sounds absolutely terrible (I'm not sure how the quality can be so bad?) and also the rear channels won't work. No SoundBlaster applications are installed. It's like I'm using the worst onboard sound ever invented with the world's worst driver and application support. At this point I'll remind you?I paid over $450 for this card and external box. That is a massi've expense and one I only outlayed due to my previous faith in Creative. I already had my suspicions about the quality of the drivers due to the way the previous XP drivers had been bundled into 3 files then a patch and then that was changed, and it was all very seemingly mismanaged. Anyway the drivers bomb out without warning on January 2th, which I was very much less than impressed with. When I first hit the Creative site that morning, the updated drivers were NOT available. That is absolutely unacceptable. Later that day, the current drivers were posted. With massi've warning labels like "THESE ARE AN UNSUPPORTED BETA DRIVER. DO NOT USE THESE....<continues like this>" I download these and install them, and find to my dismay CMSS might be present but it's implementation is very very poor and I'm getting truly abysmal quality through the rear channel. It's like somebody ripped the DAC out and replaced it with one they bought from a 25cent bargain warehouse. I then change volume settings and attempt to use some of the features of the card and find that practically nothing that is present in the XP drivers is actually working in these drivers. There is no point using these drivers other than to hear Windows sounds. They are buggy, suffer from massi've quality problems, and do not include any of the features that I bought the card FOR and also cripple my home stereo/theater sound reproduction to the point it's not worth bothering with. So thanks, Creative, for because of your drivers alone, I'm now dual booting to XP and having to wait to actually begin using a new operating system, for absolutely no reason other than the incompetence displayed by Creative. Not anyone elses, the Video card has been working fine since Vista Beta , and every single other device in my system including USB sticks and third party disk controllers, all work great under Vista. Every single, and I mean every single, one of these other manufacturers had a software team that was worthy of the hardware. I'm afraid that I can't say the same for Creative Labs. The software is truly terrible now, you need to fix this situation. In closing, let me also remind you that it is now the 2st of February, 2007. These unsupported beta drivers have been my only option for well over a month. Prior to this drivers that were barely alpha release drivers were my only option, and prior to that - I had no option. This is completely unacceptable. Microsoft did not just spring Vista on the market; SDKs were made available 2 months in advance and even futher in advance for hardware vendors. Please stop blaming Microsoft or implying it is their fault for implementing DRM. This was documented, published, warned about in advance, and any software or hardware manufacturers caught behind the 8 ball like this should be truly ashamed, and fully expect to lose the vast majority of their Enterprise level customers, which filters down to the IT Media, which filters very quickly down tos Consumers. Once your products are recommended AGAINST, on major websites and in major IT publications, the retail customer will no longer select Creative. Do not be complacent, it will happen if nothing changes and extremely rapidly. This will take a long time for the user base to forget too, we will be suspicious and never trust Creative for many years. Neither I, nor my businesses, will ever buy a PC with a Creative component in it again, and I have written to local Computer publications stating the same. I am removing my Creative hardware from the systems, and will move to another high end manufacturer that does have current Vista drivers. Believe me people there are cards out there with better SNR and all of the features and more, with driver support. This shows a real lack of commitment to the customer base on behalf of Creative. This post is not intended to start a debate. It is a letter from myself, and my?local I. T. community, to Creative, for comment on by the community. Everyone should realise that the software development lifecycle for a modern I. T. hardware vendor needs to be tracked closely to the operating system vendors' releases and patch levels. Creative, are not behaving with any professionalism. This is not an operating system being delayed, this is a driver, the tools for which have been made readily available to Creative by Microsoft directly for over 2 months, Creative manufacture the hardware, and to add insult to injury Microsoft worked with hundreds of hardware vendors to ensure Vista compatibility. For the Creative Vista drivers to be in this state of disarray on February 2st 2007 is a terrible reflection on Creative, showing a massi've lack of planning. Pardon me for asking, but is everyone at Creative asleep? On behalf of the I. T. Community at large, I hope Creative acknowledges our disgust.?Travis RoeMessage Edited by troe on 02-20-200709:52 PM

#Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro + Xbox 360? My xbox360 audio setup:
Xbox360 - Optical audio out - Dolby Digital 5. / Dolby Digital with WMA / Digital Stereo
Cable - Meter Fiber Optic cable audio Cable
Input - SPDIF/Optical-IN on Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro External Dri've
Decoder - Creative Built-in Dolby Digital/DTS SPDIF-In Decode @ 48/96KHz
Speakers - Creative Inspire T7700 7.
OS: Windows XP/Vista with Latest Creative drivers.
Concern:
1 - Whenever Xbox starts up - i have to remove the cable and replug it in for the sound to start coming.
2 - If i play any video or movie - there is no audio heard and after the movie ends - i have to reconnect the audio cable for the system sounds to return. (this does not apply to in-game FMV)
3 - Sound breaks and cracks in some games during multiple loud audio scenes. Such as in Forza3 - a car crash would cause cracking/breaking sound.
Overall most games run fine - I just dont know why no audio is heard when a movie is played! I've tried all different audio setups on the 360 but nothing works (WMA makes cracking worse)
Whats the cause and cure?

Problem solved.

• Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 zs Platinum - Smash Party Toda

I have recently spent over $0 thousand dollars on upgrading every computer in my building to Quadcore 64bit vista systems. The only component that remained the same were the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 zs Platinum dri'ves that every system has. I have been up for 2 days trying to figure out why the external dri've will not work at all, for any system. Everyone in the office is giving me grief over the new stuff because of thing, nobody can get their mics to work, or anything on the external dri've to function.
After reading up on the Dan.k story, and creatives deliberate attempts to be as difficult as possible, even to the point of charging me AGAIN, to make a product work (alchemy), I have decided later today were having a little get together at lunch where I will be instructing my employees to remove their sound cards, and smash them. Hey, I can afford it. Its the principle of the matter that bothers me. I used a valid email obviously to get on this forum. Shoot me an email if you don't believe it creative, and ill send you pictures when we're finished.
I have used ONLY creative products for sound since the 90s. I have at home, a closet full of creative products that I have personally upgraded from over the years. I have been a loyal customer for over a decade. Thankfully I found the dan. K story before I finished finding out weather or not the newest creative products work with vista, because Ive had my Credit Card out for 0 hours now just trying to find the right buy. Creative, you lost it big time.

As an IT manager, I'd be more inclined to find out who made the decision to implement this change. Then find all the people who were responsible for deploying all of these systems out to users without testing to insure that they worked. All of these people are responsible for countless numbers of resource hours by introducing a non-tested system into your company's user community. Then, I'd introduce them all to the ever increasing base of the unemployed. The $0K hardware investment that you claim to have made is only the beginning, the overall cost of lost human resource hours will prove to be far more significant.

• Audigy 2 ZS Platinum 5.1 Surro

I just built a new computer and put a clean install of Windows Vista 32bit and I installed an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum card and I downloaded and installed the vista beta drivers, but I can't get 5. surround to work. I originally installed the old drivers from the CD that came with the card and I was able to set up 5. and it worked, but i started having terrible sound issues and then upgraded to the vista drivers. Now, surround won't work. Anyone have this problem or know what to do?

Ok what you need to do is go to the thread labeled "No Surround sound when playing music" by lakersyo, follow his instructions and im willing to bet that it will fix your problem.

• Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - Fatality Extreme Ga

Hello. This post may seem somewhat technical, however, seems how I'm dodging between bullets here, I'll ask in the simplest way possible:?Is the external I/O bay that comes with the Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum, compatible with the X-Fi Extreme Gamer Professional series card?I currently cannot locate the FPS version of the Soundcard anywhere in local stores, and honestly, I don't have the patience due to certain problems I'm having with the Vista Ultimate OS, in terms of compatibility. I am aware, from past occurances, that Creative will support the more recent hardware to their line of drivers first, before the more ancient forms (Audigy series)? Please, any input would be greatly appreciated.

No you can't, the Gamer doesn't have the AD_EXT connector on it. You would need a Xtreme Music (if you can find one or the XtremeGamer Fatalty Professional to be able to use your Audigy box, without buying a card that comes with one. Actually just had a look on Newegg (if you're in the US) and they have the Xtreme music available,?http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...=N82E68290288R?it is open box, but I haven't seen to many reports of people having problems with open box stuff from Newegg.
