Audigy 1, it works!

It works with my K8T perfectly!
This is how did it. Also I do use a Dutch version of windows so I have to secondguess how
things are named in the English version. So if the naming strikes you as a bit odd then use
you're brain and imagination, that's what it's there for!
First, get all the latest drivers from here:
http://nl.europe.creative.com/support/drivers/eula.asp?id=7080
The patch for those drivers here:
http://nl.europe.creative.com/support/drivers/eula.asp?id=7643
And the newdrivers for the software that goes along with it all here:
http://nl.europe.creative.com/support/drivers/product.asp?bypass=1&category=2&os=10&driverla
ng=2&prod=226&drivertype=3
Don't worry that all the files are in Dutch, you can use the filenumbers to get the drivers
in your language as well!
You have to unzip these files with winrar, winzip or alike to new seperate and correctly
named folders. I know the files declare themselves as being self installing but they won't
function properly, just trust me on this.
If you don't you can try and find out for yourself that they won't.
Second, you have to remove the old drivers from the computers devicemanager.
Look in the device manager-->sound, video and games-->creative tab, right click on creative
and select undo install (or similar).
Also run the ctzapxx.exe that's in the windows Program files / Creative folder.
If you can't find it, use search or use the original install cd that came with your Audigy.
If you DO NOT do this you will later after reboot run into blue screens and end up in save
mode. Eventually you will have to physically uninstall the Audigy card itself from your
computer.
Third, reboot your computer.
Windows will automatically detect the new hardware (audigy) and install it, abort this
process. Then go to the new hardware wizard and point it to the audigy soundcard, then point
it to the new EAX 4 folder through to the drivers/WMD subfolders.
Install these drivers and reboot. As it turns out, windows will have installed the WRONG
drivers at this point. You can check this by going to your configurationscreen, opt to
audiodevices and probably see Emu 10Kx stated as the standard device. You can correct this
as follows. Go back to the device manager ---> Creative tab and right click and select
update driver. You now will see the update wizard in your screen. Check the I will decide
(advanced) tab, click ok to go futher. Check Don't search, I will....tab and click next. In
this window click on the latest driver and click next. The driver will be installed
correctly now. You restart first and then go back to the audio device window. It now will
state Audigy Audio, if you don't see it you can access it through the drop down window and
then select it as the default. Now you have to install the patch. You have to do this with
the device manager --> creative tab--> update driver. Point the wizard to the patch's
drivers/WMD folder and install drivers. Restart the computer. Go back to the device manager
---> Creative tab and right click and select update driver. You now will see the update
wizard in your screen. Check the I will decide (advanced) tab, click ok to go futher. Check
Don't search, I will....tab and click next. In this window click on the latest driver
(5.12.1.443)and click next. Check also if the Audigy is still the default, it should be the
default still.
Fourth, the rest of the software can be installed from the seperate folders using the setup
exe's in their setup folders. If you have uninstalled your old PlayCenter software also you
likely have to reinstall it again in order to install the new one over it.
When you do this, the old drivers will be erased and replaced with the new ones during the
installation procedure.
This is how it works for me, it's not a work around but a solution. Your EAX program runs
again and you default device will be the Audigy itself unlike in the workarounds suggested
by others.
Good luck,
P.S. There are also 64-bit drivers released for the more daring among us!

  • Getting Audigy 2 ZS working in Real-Mode MS-

Is it as all possible to force Audigy 2 to work in DOS mode? I am aware that Audigy was the last set of drivers that worked for DOS but I ran across a patch that helped MS-DOS utilize Audigy drivers for Audigy 2 cards. I have the patch, it's just a matter of trying to find Audigy drivers. Unfortunately every Audigy driver set I've come across doesn't have the DOSDRV folder that I need.
I have two different versions of DosBox installed but both versions still crash most of my DOS games, hence why I made a real-mode MS-DOS 6.22 partition. I tried using SB Li've DOS drivers but apparently they don't work with Audigy.

If you can't find them in the Internet, I can send them to you... You need the Audigy Drivers for them to initialise, but because Audigy 2 has some pin differences to the original, you also need a patch to actually get sound out of the speakers. The drivers include the patch and also do simple upmixing if you use a 5. system.

  • Good News? Audigy with EAX - Working in Win 7 Beta

2Good News? Audigy with EAX - Working in Win 7 Beta} Helo!
First I have instaled the Audigy support pack and my old Audigy MP3+ works fine (in/out, Game port, Creative Audio Console, SoundFont bank manager ) but the EAX console do not run and the EAX in Audio Console have only the enviroments, not the EQ and FX. In other battle I have instaled the Audio HQ of
original installation CD. I stoped the install before the drivers... I want only the Audio HQ working and in the old EAX console I can configure the ENV variables. Then I read a post where I heard speak about the PAX PCI Audigy OS V6.25, well... why not try this too? Run the driver deinstallation and restart.
Then the driver install runs and I see the modem link light indicate a download (?) next the classic blue window of death appear.
Shut down windows and restart and all works fine including the EAX in the Audio Console with ENV, EQ, FX options. The old EAX console works fine and I can configure all the effects. Now only the Creative Game port don't install but I make the Update driver using the one in Audigy support pack and now all works fine.
I hope wich this can help somebody...

  • Right Side of my Audigy SoundCard not working! Any suggestio

    Hi all,
I've owned my Audigy 2Zs soundcard for a little over a year now and everything has been working fine until today. Without any reason that I can think of, all of my audio information is coming out of my left speaker only. I checked all of the obvious settings and tried headphones to make sure that it wasn't something simple that I overlooked. However, with the headphones plugged directly into the back of my card... I only get the left side coming through. As anyone else had this problem or know of a solution? Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!
    TuTwelve

You can pay to have it repaired.

  • Audigy suddenly stops working after doing chkds

    System: P4800D-X mobo
    ??? Pent 4 HT
    ??? 3G memory
    ??? Hitachi 300G sata hd
??? Toshiba dvd burner (oem from micro center)
    ??? Audigy sound
    ??? Ati 9600 video card
Last December my system started to act sluggish and eventually crashed on me. Pulled the hd out and did a chkdsk with /f option using another comp I no longer have now. It fixed whatever caused the files to be corrupted and system has been working fine since. Although my sound card no longer works and for some strange reason XP home wants to load two drivers for the DVD burner. Causing this to not work as well.
Lately, I've had a bit of spare time and have been trying unsuccessfully to get the sound card to work again. I've read the FAQ on potential resolutions. Oddly, without reading it, I had already done most of those suggestions. I've totally wiped the drivers out more times then I care to count. Even went so far as to boot into safemode to double check that they weren't installing there. I've even gone to the extent of running a registary cleaner just to make sure there's no residual left overs.
Here's the odd part now. Digging even deeper into my system. The main driver for this card is CTAUD2k.SYS. In MSCONFIG "tools", this driver is listed as being one that has to be manually loaded, not loaded automatically. Odd that is. Even odder still, when I run DXDIAG, when I click on the sound tab, I get a 0X88780078 (no driver) error. Yet when I go to music, the windows synthesizer test, it comes back with the same 0X88780078 (no driver) error as well. The other two test pertaining to SB Audigy DirectMusic Sythesizer [EF40] and the SB Audigy Audio [EF40} both work and I can actually hear music!!! Strange, eh?
Just for the record. I have gone to Control Panel -->Sound and Audio devices--->Creative SB--->Properties--->Properties. All three "options" (Audio devices, Midi devices and instruments, Mixer devices) are turned on.
Other oddities. When I tried to do a "detect creative devices" from the support page, it said I don't have any creative devices installed on my system. Go figure!
Any suggestions would be greatly appericated.
    Thanks
    Jaxx

I've thought about that. Actually thought of doing a complete reinstall of XP home. However; I've a ton of music that I had just ripped as mp3's and I haven't had a chance to burn off yet. Also, while Asus does make some quality products...my particular mobo isn't one of them. The P4S800D-X motherboard has several issues. Like it can't handle sata 2 dri'ves, even backward compatible ones.
To do a reinstall or even repair on my system. I'd have to fix the dvd/cdrom first, and then it's like the chicken and egg situation of windows 95. XP wants to handle the drivers of my sata dri've as a scsii one. To do so you have to add them when prompted during the windows xp install process. Only it keeps looking for them on CD. No CD came with my Hitachi HD. It didn't need them. I can of course get drivers for the mobo that handle the scsii, but that would be placed on a floppy. And windows won't read the floppy!!!
There is a work around for installing the SISRAID drivers for the dvd/cdrom. But I'd need the dvd/cdrom to work to do them!
Things I forgot to mention or changed since I posted. I did upgrade reciently to XP home sp3 beta. I've upgraded to dx 9.22c (current as of end of march '08). I've done a google of the 0x88780078 error message. Seems this was a common error message a while back. I've tried many of the things that were suggested to fix that error message. None have worked. I've also tried at one time to install the on board ac'97 audio. And no such luck...this HAS to be a windows issue.
Since folks seem to upgrade video and audio cards alot, you would think that I could go to MS or even some website and get a "package" of all the windows audio .dll's and drivers and a how-to to clean them up and re-install them.

  • Audigy nx stops working when unplugged, have to restart pc?

;? I have an audigy 2 nx, I love it. I have used it with my old laptop, my current laptop, and my desktop pc. It broke once but was replaced under warranty.
Ever since I have had it, there has been one annoying problem that I have never been able to solve. When I unplug it (usb), it stops working, even if I plug it back in again. I use a laptop and often take it downstairs to watch a movie. After I bring it back up and plug the sound card into it again, it doesn't work (the card shows mute + power lights and is unresponsi've). In device manager it has a ! and says there was a problem.
I have the latest drivers / firmware and its happened on every pc I have used it on. It's not a huge issue on a desktop pc since you never unplug it, but on a laptop it is infuriating, because the only way to fix it is to reset my computer.
Is there any fix for this?

    ? Thanks for your reply.
I have no problems with the card, if I turn it on after or before I boot up. It's only once I turn it off again or unplug it that I have to reboot to get it working again.
I have discovered that 50% of the time if I unplug the cable and plug it back in, it resumes working, as long as I remember to plug it into the same usb slot. It doesn't always work, but occasionally it saves me a reboot by playing nice.

  • Smart Recorder Audigy 4 not work

I've had an Audigy 4 pro for a couple of years now and had full use of the smart recorder. When I updated to windows Vista I lost the use of this. Last week I decided to buy the Xfi and I had full use of smart recorder again but I didn't like the new software that came with xfi. On the audigy model I was able to select auditorium etc in the EAX but with the xfi it gives me 22 dials of reverb to mess around with - yeah right
!!! Owing to this I decided to go back to my Audigy 4. What I don't understand is why Smart Recorder will work in Vista with Xfi but it won't with Audigy?
Am I doing something wrong? I've disabled my onboard sound and I've tried to run smart recorder in windows xp compatibiltiy. When that didn't work I uninstalled and reinstalled using XP compatibility to be told I didn't have a supported device.
Why can't Creative just update the hardware and leave the software nice and simple lol - the whole sound of Xfi recording just wasn't in the same league as the Audigy 4 so that was a waste of ?220
If noone has an answer to this then can you let me know if there is a good recording software out there that has recording settings of mono or stereo and bitrate settings. I don't want to edit my stuff I just want it to sound good with the initial recording and Xfi just didn't!
    Thanks for your help

i still have a audigy 4 non pro and this stupid digi in/out racket. I still try to get my xbox work together with my SB at the digi in coax port. I only hear stereo sound in the menu but i just get a "crack"w hen digi output "Reciever supports AC3" is turn on and the dvd has a AC3 stream. DTS though. Can somebody help me?

  • Audigy 2 wont work after start

ok i've got an amd motherboard and ai had a li've 5. sound card on it, but it wasnt securly fastened and so i had to reinstall the drivers/software when it came out. this was not a problem. lately i would do this and u restart the comp and it is fine, but when u shut down and then start the computer again, as in the power goes off, the soundcard woulnd work, to wave ect. only basic drivers. so i though i must have broke a pci slot. so i got an audigy 2, but this is doing the same thing, i've tried it in different slots but still the smae, wil work fine until u cut power and then start again. i read sumthing about the card's eeprom not functioning so it "forgets" that these things are installed? colud this be the problem, if so how is it fixed?

Your post is a little hard to follow. Do you mean you install the soundcard, get it working, then shut down. Then, after that, it doesn't work anymore? Have you tried CL support?

  • Audigy 2 - Card working fine, but the drivebay-panel does not!

    Hello folks
I recently installed a Audigy 2 PCI-card + drivebay-panel in my computer (Win7 x64) installed the drivers from Creatives official website and it's working fine! However that is only the ports on the card itself, i can't seem to get the front panel to work. The original correct flat-cable connects the two (also the 1394-cable) and a floppy-power connector is hooked up to the drive. The optical-S/PDIF Out lights up so it apparently gets power at least, but when i plug my headphones or a mic in i get no sound (knobs are turned up of course) and no reaction on the computer.
I looked in the manual, but there's not much info on the drive. Can't find anything in the knowledge base either, so i'm resorting to this forum
Anyone got an idea what the error might be? I don't think that the drive is physically broken as it's been handled with care and there's no sparks flying or anything Thankful for your help!
    Best regards

Hi! Appriciate your answer! However the cable and pins, at least on my card, are made assymetric with "missing" pins which match filled holes in the cable, so that it can not be plugged in the wrong way. I will try plugging the cable in the other way around though, but i doubt that's the error.
Would i need to re-install the driver/software package in order to make it work with the computer? Or will it just be "plug and play" once i have the PCI card drivers/software installed already? My computer is painstakingly slow with uninstalling and installing this...
    Thanks for your input!

  • Audigy SE not working...NEED HELP BAD!

I have been really frustrated over the past week trying to fix this "no sound" problem. There is no sound coming from speakers and yes, I already checked if it was my speakers and they work perfectly fine. For some reason whenever I play a music file from either iTunes or Windows Media Player it says its playing and no sound is coming out. I checked all drivers in device manager and they are all updated, all enabled, and all working. I already checked if it was on mute and if the volume was on. I need desperate help with this extremely difficult problem because im really, REALLY frustrated with this issue. Thanks and please HELP!! =(

  • I want my Audigy 2 to work!

This has to be the most frustrating support website i've been to in a long time...
I have a SoundBlaster Audigy 2, and I need drivers for it.
Unfortunately, the drivers on this site are worthless and I still cannot get my surround sound to work properly. I've moved since I last installed the software and the installation cd has vanished. This would not be a big deal usually, since I assumed that you would be able to simply hop online and download the drivers. Instead I get these worthless drivers that only allow my front left and right speakers to work. No other jacks on my Audigy2 are functional (mic, audio in, etc.).
Now I'm told that the only way I can get the correct files is by paying $5. Excuse me but I already paid for the hardware and software WHEN I PURCHASED IT. What kind of support is that?
Now, when I need drivers and software for my video card, I simply log onto www.ati.com and download them in seconds. Why would you not offer support like that? I would just simply use my RealTek onboard sound, except for the fact that XP seems to hate it.
All I want is drivers that WORK. I really couldn't care less about any of the other junk on that cd.
    Good job Creative.

I work for a multi billion dollar company in the technology field. I can understand if you say that it is impossible to provide free telephone and onsite support for something like a Sound Blaster 6, but c'mon... you can't provide drivers and CD downloads for products. That is extremely weak. You have a limited set of products, which all told would probably combine for less that TB of total downloadable data. Buy a cheap SAN or even a cheap DAS, stick the data on there and let people download. At the company I work for, I can download drivers for a 5 year old UNIX for a defunt ARCNET board on an MCA bus architecture off the website... I am sure Creative Labs can come up with the same.
As for me, <<EM>I will not buy products from a company that cannot provide a basic level of online support such as downloading original software to enable the hardware we purchased</EM>. Creative is unfortunately one of those since the products and other areas of support are typically well above average.

  • Will the Audigy 2 Platinum work on the KT3 Ultra

I recently bought the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum, and I have been having problems with it. After I installed it, I could never get the sound card to be recognized. I moved the sound card to different PCI slots, and I uninstalled and reinstalled several times, yet still no success. I was wondering if it was because the Motherboard I have doesn't support it or whether I just got a defective product. I have the MSI KT3 Ultra MS-6380E (VIA Apollo KT333 and VT8233A Chipset Based) Motherboard. Could I please get some help?

I have KT3 Ultra, and Audigy 2 (non platnium, but its the same card), and it works fine. Try upgrading your bios maybe?

  • Audigy 2 not working after XP re-inst

I reformatted my dri've and re-installed Windows - SP2 plus up to date patches.
I inserted the Audigy 2 disc to install the software but it stopped at a point with the message 'The data is invalid'.
In Sounds and Audio Drivers there is an exclaimation mark next to 'Multimedia Audio Controllers!. No mention of the SB card anywhere.
I tried installing a different version of the software (from Igor Pavlov?), again the driver did not install.
I tried executing CTZAPXX.EXE from the CD and got the message "An error occured during the installation of the device. The data is invalid". The same happened when executing that file from Igor Pavlov (a different version, I think).
I have moved the Audigy card to another PCI slot with no different results.
When I go to the Creative Automatic Software Update page, it says I have a Soundblaster Audigy 2, DR Release .88.25.
The card was working perfectly before I reformatted and re-installed Windows.
I would really appreciate some advice to get away from onboard sound.

Your problem may be caused by the Microsoft "Windows installer" itself.
Update it to the latest version st.
    jutapa
    PS
I have the same card you do. I have installed Audigy 2 Zs software using the ctcomp -method. If you think your installation CD is broken, you can dl the Zs Cd from here (seek for BadBoy's posts).
Load st the ctcomp and the EQ patch (you get graphics EQ to working.
    Instructions:
. Download or rip the original installation CD and extract it to your hard disk.
    2. When the whole CD is extracted, run the CTCOMP.exe. It will ask you Audigy 2 CD directory is, this where your patch is to be applied. Apply it to your CD's folder in /Audio/Setup folder, for example: F:\Audio\Setup? is where my driver CD is located so I chose that as where it should be applied. Your directory may differ because it may be on your C: dri've or desktop.
    3. To being the install, run the START.exe in driver CD folder, located at /CTrun/Start.exe. Installation will start, follow the on screen directions should take about anywhere from 2-8 minutes depending on how fast your computer is. Once everything is installed, restart your computer. Once restarted your sound should be working and lots of Creative Labs junk to compliment it.
    4. If you are an Audigy 2 user, install all downloaded Creative updates (driver updates in order of oldest to latest) from the Creative site, restart the necessary number of times and skip to step 6. If you are not using an Audigy 2 continue to step 5.
    5. The CTCOMP patch must also be applied to driver updates (not application updates) and installed oldest to latest. To do so, you must extract the actual .exe update files with WinRAR the same way you did the driver CD. Right click on the file, select extract files? and select the directory to where you want it extracted. The using the CTCOMP patch, select the folder of the extracted update (just the root directory not any subfolders within) and click next. Do this for all driver updates and install them in order of oldest to latest.
    6. To get the equalizer to work, after installing everything and verifying your sound is working, restart the computer in safe mode. Once booted, apply the patch.exe file. Verify the directory for your Creative folder (i.e. C:\program files\creative) and all files should be patched successfully.
7 (optional). Extract Ctpanel.zip to windows\system32, and a new link in your control should appear as "Creative Audio Control Panel". For Li've users, after extracting the file, navigate to windows\system32 and find the YourCPL.txt. Open this text file and edit the line:
    "C:\Program Files\Creative\SBAudigy2\Program\WDM\COMMON\CtPane l.exe" (without quotations)
    and change it to:
    "C:\Program Files\Creative\Program\WDM\COMMON\CtPanel.exe"(wit hout quotations).
These instructions are taken from DriverHeaven's Forum --> follow the subject if you get some problems.Message Edited by jutapa on 0-9-2006 2:47 AM

  • UPGRADED MOTHER BOARD, GRAPHICS CARD, CPU. AUDIGY NOW NOT WORKING PROP

Any advice you could give would be great.
just installed gigabyte 95p main board. PCI express Inno3D Geforce 6600GT graphics card. P4 3.4Ghz CPU and Gig ram.
I have an audigy platininum with dri've bay.
It keeps crashing the system. the mixer dont work nor the remote.
when re-installing drivers, the system crashes. I've downloaded latest drivers.. the system crashes when I try to install them. each crash gives me the blue-screen-of-death then restarts the system. I cant see any conflicts, I'm not a novice but I dont know much about the the registry or irq's etc.

    Hi
    Error Message: "BAD_POOL_CALLER Stop 0xC2."
Translation: You're trying to print or use Windows Explorer to open a document that
contains a bad or corrupted font.
Solution: Microsoft determined that this is a problem with Win2000 Professional,
Win2000 Server, and Win2000 Advanced Server. A hot fix is available by contacting
Microsoft Help And Support via phone (visit the Help And Support site at
www.support.microsoft.com to obtain an appropriate phone number). However, keep in mind
that Microsoft recommends installing the fix only if you're experiencing a problem and
that you will be charged a fee for calling the Microsoft support number unless the
support staff determines that the update will resolve your problem.

    P.S.
Did you had Dr.Watson running when crash occurred. Utility writes (append) all the
information into a file called 'drwtsn32.log' (path C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Documents\DrWatson). Recent information is the last one.
