  • Audigy 2 or Audigy 4 safe in Nforc

Think the older Audigy 2 or Audigy 4 are safe bets for my DFI NF4 mainboard? I already know the hard way X-Fi is a no go. Are these any different in PCI bus behavior from Audigy types? Meaning if the Audigy worked, either of these should behave precisely the same?
    My sad story:
My faithful Audigy Plat just failed. System won't even post with the card in now.
So first I bought a Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer locally thinking at worst it would click and pop in certain games. MUCH WORSE - The card caused such bad PCI bus problems on my NF4 board that made my system totally unbootable. The SCSI controller stopped being recognized no matter what, only to return to normal as soon as the X-Fi was removed. So I had no choice but to return it. Looks like no X-Fi for me, and I'm not about to sacrifice the SCSI or replace the mainboard yet.
So then I mail ordered an M-Audio Rev5.. It works without a hitch but didn't take long to discover this card is almost useless features-wise compared to the Audigy even. It can't even moniter internal software busses intersecting from anywhere in the software signal chain through ASIO, which is totally unacceptible. Non ASIO apps stopped recognizing 96kHz WAV files altogether. One program that was fine on Creative cards wouldn't even accept its ASIO drivers. Not being local and having been overnighted, looks like I'm not getting full, easy refunds this time.
I'm not wanting to take any more chances and have no more budget or time to waste on another bad purchase. If I return the M-Audio, the replacement HAS TO BE 00% ASSURED TO WORK!!! I've looked at other simular priced cards from other brands and their ASIO I/O bus capabilities and such leave me wondering if it might not go so well. I'd just assume get something closer to the Audigy at this point, maybe a modest upgrade.

    Cmon
All I wanna know is if the Audigy 2 and 4 series are the same as the st Audigy in terms of PCI bus behavior. If it is, I will get one. If its anything like the X-Fi, I won't.

  • Soundblaster audigy platinum jack panel compatibility with audigy 2 or audigy 2

Can I use a Soundblaster audigy platinum dri've (the front case jack panel) with an audigy 2 or audigy 2 zs sound card? Is it compatible? This is so I don't have to by a platinum version of the audigy 2 or audigy 2zs and spend the money on another dri've panel just to upgrade the sound card.

As both the Audigy and Audigy 2 lines report they are compatible with WinXP, is there any reason I wouldn't be able to use my Audigy Platinum system I bought in 200 with a suped up new Dell Dimention desktop system I just bought? I guess the question behind the question is, what's the difference between the Audigy and Audigy 2 besides just the parts not being compatible with each other and the true bit thing fixed? Thanks!

  • Audigy 2zs to Audigy 4 pro, it is worth

    Hi,
I am deceptioned with the sound quality of my X-Fi fatality compared to my old Audigy 2,?so i want to buy Audigy 2zs?or an?Audigy 4 pro, what you guys thinks is the best of the two ?I already know the difrences from the Audigy 2zs?or an?Audigy 4 pro (better dac?s, higher snr) in therms of hardware, what i am seeking is someone wo listen the above two cards and can tell me about sound quality.Message Edited by Rubix on 05-0-200703:56 PM
Message Edited by Rubix on 05-0-200704:00 PM

...the "improved" SNR ratio due to better DACS will probably go unnoticed unless you're one of those "golden ears" who'd willingly spend money over gold-plated mains plugs and the such. In other words, if your speakers and amp don't have a comparable/better SNR ratio than the DAC, you won't even notice any difference. And if you're using a digital speaker/amps connection, then the internal DAC doesn't matter at all.
As the rest is concerned, all Audigys ,Audigy 2 and Audigy 4 cards have that nasty 48 KHz/ 6 bit internal resampling when using their DSPs, so neither card would actually sound different in that respect (and, the poorly resampled 48 KHz/6 bit signal will also appear on the digital outputs).
X-Fis do perform better resampling than Audigys, so they SHOULD sound better.
I don't know exactly what let you down about your F4t4lity, sound quality-wise.Message Edited by CreativeSkeptic on 05-0-200704:2 PM

  • Differences between audigy 4 and audigy 4

Hi. I am in position to buy Audigy 4 bulk version (non pro). I would like to know If there are any other differences besides extended box, especially if DACs are the same (CS4382 or CS 4398?). Thanks in advance

Audigy4 is in fact an Audigy2 Value with the firmware modified to report Audigy4. Is a very big difference compared to Audigy4 Pro.
The DAC's are lower quality than the Pro version, the digital jack is different, no other goodies (fireware, AD_EXT connector for adding an audio bay latter)...

  • Connecting Audigy 2 ZS card to an Audigy Platinum EX 'Audigy Dri

I would like to connect the 'Audigy Dri've' from my Audigy Platinum EX setup to my new Audigy 2 ZS card. It seems to be physically possible - connect the Audigy 2 ZS to the Platinum EX's expansion card with the AD_EXT cable, then the expansion card to the Platinum dri've with the DS cable (I haven't looked into power supply connection issues yet). I'm wondering if there's any fundemental incompatibility between the two despite the possibility of physical connectivity. Anyone have any ideas?
    Cheers,
    Gareth

It looks like someone asked something similar about a year or so ago, and a moderator stated simply 'no'. Any explanation of why?

  • Audigy 1 to Audigy 2 - Cheapskate Quest

    Hi
I currently have an Audigy Platinum system in my PC replete with the 5.25 inch front panel.
Having looked at the front panel that comes with some of the Audigy 2 cards I see little difference between them. Can I just buy an Audigy 2 card and then plug my Audigy front panel into the new card?
This will save me some ?50 if I can.
    The Dark Side

    TheDarkSide,
Unfortunately the Audigy dri've is not compatible with the Audigy 2. There were changes made to the way that the dri've communicates and this requires the updated dri've.

  • Audigy 4 and Audigy 2 ZS? Differen

What exactly is the difference between the Audigy 2ZS regular and the Audigy 4 regular?
I have been looking at both cards but I can't figure out which one is better.... The only difference I see is that the Audigy 4 says that it has hardware acceleration so your cpu isn't used as much meaning better fps in games...... Is the Audigy 4 better? Confused about the difference!
    Thankyou

There is no real difference to speak of. The Audigy 4 is just a slightly tweaked version of the Audigy 2 ZS. It has a higher signal-to-noise rating (4dB compared to the A2 ZS's 08dB). I have the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum and I am very pleased with it. I didn't even blink when the Audigy 4 was released.
As to gaming either card will serve you well. If, however, you want to record and edit music then the Audigy 4 is better suited.

  • Line out on Audigy 2 vs Audigy 2 va

I?m thinking of changing my Audigy 2 value card for a used ?full? Audigy 2 (model SB0240). First of all, I don't see a "plain" version on www.creative.com . What's it proper name (the card was manufactured in 2002)?
The thing I first noticed is that when I tried to use my headphones on "plain" version (Sennheiser HD555 50 ohm or Philips SBC HP 20, I think they?re 6 ohm), I get a much much worse/weaker sound than on the value version (value is from 2004, while full version is from 2002). The sound is something similar to listening a pair of headphones with volume to the max, but from one meter distance. Am I doing something wrong, or this is a normal thing? Should I enable some options to get proper strenght from the line-out? Or on this older version line out is used only for that and a proper headphones out is provided only through a dri've bay in platinum version?
It's a real pitty, since I'm getting this "plain" version real cheap and it's in mint condition, but I upgraded from SoundStorm to Audigy 2 value primarily because of the good line out for headphones... Now I have to return it bc of this and... and I'd like to avoid that

PS CAn I use any of the programs from the full version CD on Value card?

  • Audigy 1 with Audigy 2 ZS Frontpa

Hey guys, i have a question:
    I have a Creative Soundblaster Audigy (SB0090)
but i don't have a Frontpanel to connect Headset and stuff.
BUT i got a frontpanel from a friend. But it is a Frontpanel
from a Audigy 2 ZS. So here is my Question:
Is ist possible to use this Frontpanel (from the Audigy 2 ZS)
    with a Creative Audigy (SB0090)?
    greetings, Mr.Gambler

Is it really not compatible, or do you say that only because
you want me to buy a new Soundcard with Panel?

  • Audigy 2 ZS & Audigy 2 ZS Ga

I was wondering if somebody could tell me the difference between a Audigy 2 ZS and a Audigy 2 zs Gamer. Is the only difference, that the ltd. Gamer comes with 5 games? Or is their an actual difference in the card also?
    thanks

The A2ZSGamer comes with 3 more game CDs than the plain brown A2ZS. That's the only difference, AFAIK.

  • Audigy Drive on Audigy Platinum Not Recogni

I have a custom built (read, I built it myself) AMD 2200 XP with GB Ram and a 420 W Power Supply. It has a Soyo Dragon KT333 Ultimate Platinum motherboard. I have had it up and running for about 2 years and the Audigy Platinum Sound Card works beautifully. However, I have NEVER been able to get Windows XP Pro to recognize the Audigy Dri've that goes in the 5.25 in. Dri've Bay. It hasn't been a big deal, because my computer has been out of it's cubby hole for the last two years for various other reasons. However, I now want to put it where it belongs and would like to get it working before I put it away. The cables are all hooked up right. I have tried fi've different connections from my power supply and still can't get any indication of power being supplied to it or get XP Pro to see it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Russ

    Falcondfw,
Since you have tried multiple power adaptors one thing to check would be to see if the Red Light on the optical out (after removing the cover that is) ever comes on. If it doesn't then it is most likely a hardware problem and you will want to have the dri've repaired. This can be arranged by contacting Technical Support, here is the page that has their contact information:

  • Audigy 4 non

Hello .. I?have a , and my issue is :?On the Creative at the Audigy 4 photo the DSP is CA0300-IAT LF -EMU . On my soundcard the DSP is CA008-IAT LF . The Audigy 2 value has CA008-IAT !!!!!!!!
!!! I respect Creative , is a great corporate but i think? Creative is consider us , the buyers , a bunch of fools because they sells us Audigy 4 with audigy 2 value DSP . I don't know what the?Audigy 2 value?DSP is doing on card ...... I 'm awaiting an answer .. Bye ...

I have Audigy 4 OEM and my DSP is also CA008-IAT LF.
    This is the one:
    http://img2.imageshack.us/img2/8443/fdb8mw.jpg
As I understand, it doesn't support DTS.
But under Audio Console, Decoder, I can enable DTS-ES.
How can I test if I have DTS support?
Is this card then in any way different than Audigy 2 Value?
I read this topic too (it was listed on Wikipedia):

  • Audigy 4 Help S

Hi there i'v been trying to read up on the Audigy 4 Non-PRo OEm it comes without the remote.
It is cheaper than the Audigy 2 zs
What is the main difference between the 4 and 2 series? Will it do hardware EAX in BF2?
Is this just a rebadge Audigy value 2?
There aren't many reviews on the NON-PRO version so i'm tryign to figure it out
is it as good the 2zs?

It is in between the Value2 and the 2zs.
The PCB is the same of the value2, but the chip has the DTS-decoder and slightly better DACs, the 2zs is totally different in design but not that much in quality (its better but not a huge jump) it has a higher price because it comes with front panel, firewire port and other things
    The three cards have EAX4

  • I need drivers for my Audigy 2 in a Dell XPS

I have a Dell XPS. I just installed Windows XP Pro SP3 in the computer and I dont have the drivers for the Factory installed Audigy 2 ZS - Dell (OEM) <span class="text">SB0358 sound card. The drivers didn't load when I installed the OS. Dell does not have the drivers just a web patch avalible, and Creative does not have them ether. I tried a few Audigy drivers but all have the same error message that the sound device supported is not found. Does anyone know how I can get them or which driver will work with this card?

Daniel K.'s Audigy support pack 3.6 will recognize your DELL card and you get see the info here:
    http://forums.creative.com/t5/Sound-Blaster/SB-Audigy-Series-Support-Pack-3-6--09-2009/td-p/540934
I have used Dan's packs on OEM Dell cards before. He usually puts the hardware ID in his inf file.

    Hejssan
I think you understand english good enough (som ni alla svenskar brukar g?ra (b?ttre ?n vi finskar i alla fall)) so I just give a link to another thread on this forum.
This issue you're having, is quite common for Creative Audigy carrds (perhaps with OEM models mostly) if you just search this forum.
You can use those instructions to get some drivers installed to your card. Install drivers first and then all the Creative software you need.
You need WinRar being installed into your system to get driver package extracted. You can download it from http://www.winrar.de/edownload/winrar.html
