Audigy (1) X-Gamer Driv

I recently had my hard dri've crap out on me and have had to reinstall everything on a new one; however, when I got to the creative website to get the drivers for my Audigy() x-gamer, it isn't even on the list of cards anymore. If I run the auto-update it recognizes it as an Audigy and downloads the new unified drivers that were just released. The audigy gamer isn't even on the list of applicable cards for those drivers, not to mention the very limited audio console application that comes with them. I can always just go with my original CD drivers for now, but?I would like to get the latest updates and find out?whether the support for my card has been pulled from the website accidentally.

Sound blaster Audigy 2 zs gamer problem!

(Sound blaster Audigy 2 zs gamer problem!? I had a recent problem recently that caused Windows not to load at all. After getting that fixed and the computer back home I have run into a sound issue. None of the Creative's Media Source programs would work properlly. When clicked on I would get the error that the program has encountered an error and needs to close. Finally un-installed all creative programs and related software and went through the re-install process. Encountered an error that program could not load because plxcore.plx cannot be found. I went through the solution listed on?Creative's web site to fix the?issue and none of fixes worked. Recently deleted everything Creative again by uninstalling all drivers and going through the installshield folder and deletd all creative related items. Went through the install process again. Had the plx error, fixed it and had sound but had the same problems with the Media SOurce as before. Went to Creative's web site through auto updater for a new driver and other essential items needed for my sound. Back to no sound again. Under Windows control panel under sounds and audio devices under volume tab, it will not even let me select the speaker setting or place the volume control on the task bar. @99.3.9.75

Try updating your BIOS to the latest and have the sound card tested on another machine to see if it is still functioning.

In the grand sceme of things, how out dated is a Audigy 2 zs gamer editi

I was out at a garage sale today and found a Audigy 2 zs gamer card and picked it up for 3 bucks. I really haven't updated a computer for gaming in probably 5 years or so and wanted to know how old or out dated this card was. I realise the x-fi's are out and there probably isn't even a comparsion but for 3 bucks did i get a deal? I have a super old rig that im planning to upgrading for as cheaply as possible and also wondered if this card would work or if it was to out dated for anything good like half-life 2 or something to that standard.

(Dont played this game, i dont know really)If you want to know whats different beetween Audigy cards wich is important in the future: X-RAM, and 28 channels. Thats the big difference beetween these cards. Quality: EAX effects/ DSP usage will produce barely hearable noise on Adigy cards, especially with higher- end headphones. Noise is produced in X-FI cards also, but you wont hear it anymore. CMSS is still there on Audigy cards, but i would say you should disable it if you want to play games wich support 5. sourround sound and EAX, because CMSS will suck up the whole power out of this card. But try for your self.

SB Audigy 2 ZS Gamer, Pin locati

Hey, I've been interested for some time in setting up the headphone/microphone in the front of my case. The only thing that is stopping me from doing so is the fact that I can't seem to locate which pin is which on the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS/Gamer. I was hoping that someone could clue me in with an image of the board + the pin locations or a link to a credible source. Thank you for your time.

Front left and right channels working correctly.
Center, Low Frequency and Back Left channels apply max high volume level and don t apply any other volume levels.
Back Right channel apply max low volume level and don t apply any others volume levels.

Strange Audigy 2 ZS Gamer Is

Hey all. Just picked up an Audigy 2 ZS Gamer today, and have spent the last 6 hours or so trying to get the thing to work. Went through all the basic stuff, ie, making sure onboard sound was disabled in bios, uninstalling/reinstalling drivers, installing latest drivers, etc.
Anyway, the problem was that I got no sound out of my speakers. All tests ran fine, but just no sound. So finally I was fed up, and was going to go back to my onboard sound. Just for the hell of it, I fired up a song, then started plugging the speakers into every port on the card. Suddenly, I was hearing music. But here's the weird part: the speakers are plugged into the microphone jack. So obviously, I'm unable to use my headphones with microphone, as there is effecti'vely no headphone jack on my card. Anybody have any thoughts on this? Maybe I just have a bum card?

Well I think it's the sound card drivers myself. I have been using the Soundblaster Li've Value Card with the 999 Sound Blaster Li've Windows98SE driver files and it worked great with all the Nivida 66.XX drivers that I have downloaded from the www.nvidia.com web site.
After installing the sound card Soundblaster Audiogy2 EZ sound card and it's associated drivers and programs my entire computer has gone down hill. DX dig won't work now. MS Media Player 9.0 was shot. My sound card is not detected by windows 98SE anymore. It was showing in the device manager but the multimedia options were all grayed out and the sound icon vanished on my systray.
My video card has worked flawlessly for the last 3 years and that is with all the different Asus and Nvidia drivers that are issued and WHQL certified by MS.
I bet it's the sound card and not the video card. Both should be certifed to work with Windows 9X/XP by MS quality Assurance dept. Did Creative get their sound card drivers certified by MS? I bet not.
It's been my experience with video cards over the last 6 years that certain companies have better video driver developers than other companies. Nvidia and ATI have been good for the last few years at this work. Creative Labs has not been good at video card or sound card driver development IMHO. I remember having problems with my last Creative Labs Graphics Blaster TNT video Card drivers. It failed to work as there were some remenants of the old drivers on my OS from an older video card.
I have found that you must have all programs turned off when you download new drivers and you must have programs turned off before you try to install new software. That means using MSCONFIG.EXE's start up tab to disable a lot of things before you install new software. If not you are asking for problems. Also if you don't fully remove all the old driver files before you install new one it too can cause major headaches.

-Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Gamer (sitting on desk next to computer)

So I just dropped $40.00 on an Audigy 2 ZS Gamer LE. It took all of 30 seconds of Half-Life 2 to show me that the crappy onboard 5. audio performed better during gameplay. I found this a bit odd being that the word "Gamer" is actually in the name of this soundcard. Granted the word is only there to coincide with the software package included with the card, but if it comes with games you'd think it would work well in games. Anyway...While playing any game, there is constant (and very LOUD) crackling in the audio and at points it will actually cause the game itself to stutter. The problem is intolerable.
So far I have tried:
Using Different Speakers....didn't work (way to easy of a solution anyway)
Verifying onboard audio is disabled....didn't work (like I'd leave it enabled)
Updating Creative's drivers/softare....didn't work
Updating MB drivers/software....didn't work
Updating MB BIOS....didn't work
Changing PCI slot....didn't work (IRQ wasn't shared with AGP in the first place)
Changing PCI Latency....didn't work
Wiped Creative drivers completely and installed KX drivers....didn't work (although crackle wasn't as loud, the stuttering was worse)
Verifying DMA Settings....didn't work (DMA Mode was acti've for all dri'ves already)
The only thing I haven't done at this point is a complete reformat and reinstall. I apologize to the boys and girls at Creative, but there is no way they can convince me to go through the trouble of backing up gigs and gigs of data and reinstalling Windows just to get a soundcard to work. That isn't an option I'll even consider unless they can guarantee that my card will work afterwards. Since it didn't help about 90% of the people I've seen posting on this board that have encountered this same problem, I can't even believe it's still being offered as troubleshooting advice.
I've read posts concerning an inherent problem when using this Creative card and a motherboard with a VIA chipset. I don't honestly know what's true and what isn't. I've been considering upgrading my mobo anyway, so my questions to all the other members with this card and to the mods are these:
Is there an issue when using the Audigy 2 or any other Creative card on a motherboard with a VIA chipset (Specifically PT880/VT8237)? Straight up yes or no.
If so, what socket 478 motherboards are KNOWN to work with the Audigy 2 without the need for hours of configuration or 3rd party drivers?
Has anyone with a system similar to mine ever gotten an Audigy 2 ZS to work straight out of the box without any problems?
If so, what is your setup and what motherboard are you using?
Any help or straight answers would be greatly appreciated.

I am a typical PC enthusiast. Have been enjoying Creative cards since SB 8bit packaged with a Hayes 2400baud. They have been deserving of requiring other cards to be 'SB Compatible' up until the Audigy series. However of late, Audigy has been quite terrible for me.
I use these motherboards, chipsets, processors and memory modules: Asus A8N, Asus A8V, Epox 8rda, Epox 8rda3+, MSI A64 Neo2 Platinum. They either have nForce2, 3 or VIA. Mostly nForce, I've had quite a few memory compatibility issues since PC2700+ with VIA, but that's another story. I use AMD Athlon and A64 processors in the range of XP2500~XP3200, and one A64 3500 939. I use Corsair XMS 3200 series memory as it's affordable enough for me and have had no track record of compatibility problems. I also use Samsung in one machine.

I have sufficient cooling. I have an aluminum TT XaserIII and all fans working properly, with a planned airflow. CPU temperatures rarely exceed 0F at full load with overclocking using a TTV at full speed (ears ring when I shut down). I do not currently overclock since purchasing the Audigy 2 ZS, and it is running 90F to the CPU, 50F inside the case (cold up here). Internal temperature rarely exceeds 60F otherwise. I have a Zalman heatpipe w/ fan on my vid card that pushes air down with a PCI slot fan to suck it out to avoid heat anywhere near the A2ZS. fans total, no leds, 480W Antec to power it sufficiently.

As the original poster suggested, I am also experiencing an audio artifacting that resembles an electrical crackling or popping during playing 3d games. I play Lineage 2, Half-Life 2, Half-Life , Battlefield 942, Call of Duty, Unreal Tournament 2004, etc.
It is most reproducable when I pan my view quickly. It seems that when I stress the general bandwidth of the system while panning my view in 3d, I receive a studder visually as well as an audio crackle or pop. They are present together each time and last for a fraction of a second and happen continually through the entire game. The volume of the crackle/pop is loud, and I am concerned I am destroying my speakers and headphones. It is not something that can be ignored and it ruins my experience in games. It is more present when my FPS is lower and the system is under more stress. I use DirectX and OpenGL alike, both produce this problem during gameplay.
This problem is identical in visual appearance and sound through the speakers (or far worse, headphones) across the 4 motherboards, 4 processor variations (but same brand) and 2 memory types. All systems use Windows 2000 Pro, latest everything across the board (no, I didn't forget anything, really). On all of the systems, this problem is not present if I use a SB Li've 5., nor Turtle Beach Santa Cruz, nor using Onboard sound on any of the motherboards listed. I do notice visual studder on all of the said systems in one place or another in games but the accompanied popping and crackling is not present on any of the other audio cards.
This problem is exclusi've to the Audigy, Audigy 2 and Audigy 2 ZS series.

It does not remove the problem, it creates a different problem. More frequent and lower volume popping.</LI>

I would like to say it is my configuration or an incompatibility with any one system I have, but it persists across too many combinations for this to be a problem with other hardware to me. What other things can I try to resolve this issue? I would like to use the A2, it produces excellent sound outside 3D games, far better than other cards I use as well as onboard by far. But all the sound quality in the world otherwise is meaningless if I cannot play games without destroying my speakers and headphones as well as my gaming experience.

Audigy 2 ZS Gamer and Plantronics DSP

After installing my Audigy 2 ZS Gamer card my Plantronics DSP 400 headset (USB) does not work properly. The sound through the Harmon Kardon analog speakers is fine, but when I switch to the headset I am unable to adjust the volume and one channel is louder than the other. Any idea of what could be adjusted to the sound settings to make the headset work, or do I need to get a headset that plugs directly into the soundcard now?

The best way to install the drivers is the following:?
Download the latest package<
Unzip/Extract it by right clicking it (You will need to have a utility like Winzip or WinRAR)<
Find the DRIVER subfolder of the contents you extracted<
Run Setup from there<
Check the "Replace Creative Shared files" option.<
You do not need to uninstall any drivers before doing this method of installation.
The games you are mentioning are using EAX Unified if I am not mistaken. So check to see if there is an "eax.dll" file in your WINDOWS\System32 folder. Notice that this file does not come with the drivers but with individual games and may get replaced if you install a new game.
If you do find the file, check its version:? I have heard that version 3.0 is the most stable and that version 4.0 causes problems. In any case try to search the Internet and find another version of the file and try it out.
PS:? It is quite possible that shared resources cause the problem, so if the above doesn't work, you might want to try changing the PCI Latency setting in your BIOS. Usually it is set at 32 cycles, so may want to try setting it at 64. More BIOS settings are documented in the Knowledgebase Article with?<span class="majorheader">Solution ID # 2538.

Problems with Audigy 2 ZS ASIO driv

I have some problems with ASIO drivers in my Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro. I use the program Cubase SE. When I select the SB Audigy 2 ZS ASIO 24/96-driver, it works for some time but then the sound starts cracking and popping and eventually doesn?t work at all until you reselect the driver. And with the SB Audigy 2 ZS ASIO-driver I can only record in mono, even though I checked the inputs. I think the Creative ASIO-driver had the same problem. Actually the ASIO Multimedia Driver has functioned the best. What could be the problem?

Audigy 2 ZS Gamer not appearing in soundcard li

Since last september, I have been using my Audigy 2 ZS Gamer card with relati've sucess, and it has worked perfectley. However, just yesterday, it simply stopped working. Anything that is soundcard enhanced doesn't work, and the card does not even appear in the list of cards I can choose from in my windows sound settings. In my device manager, the card is said to be functioning normally, and has no device conflicts. Creative diagnostics detects the card, but Wave, Midi, Mixer and Mixer settings report as "failed" Also, when I double click on the creative system volume icon, it says that the card is not detected.
I have reinstalled my drivers and even opened up the case and made sure the card was in place, but nothing I do seems to work. I'm not sure why this would happen, as I haven't done anything to cause my soundcard to suddenly stop working...(the most recent thing I did before my soundcard stopped working was install battlefield 2, but I doubt that has anything to do with it...)
Any ideas and suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

And for any device conflicts, I guess you should know that I am running ZoneAlarm firewall as well as Norton Antivirus 2005...both of which have caused conflicts with my soundcard in the past.

Audigy 2 ZS Gamer - hw ac-3 decode during DVD playback unsta

I've set my audigy 2 zs gamer to decode ac-3 and dts for me, but there are some problems. When I use windvd 4, the audio lags a little and if I skip around, the sound stutters. If I use WMP0, which uses the installed ac3filter to pass ac-3 to the zs, skipping around will cause wmp to freeze and sometimes playback of both video and audio will be at an overly fast rate.
the nature of these problems leads me to suspect a dvd software problem, but if anyone else has gotten this to work well, please pass along your configuration.

AC3filter is not a really good software choice to pass AC3 streams to in-PC hardware.
The fact is that DVD softwares seems to modifies a bit the AC3 stream before outputing it. PowerDVD perfected its SPDIF output with one of the latest patch for the 5 version.
If sound is lagging with a software like that, verify your PC configuration (BIOS, DMA, drivers, ACPI config, etc).
Also install reclock ( http://reclock.free.fr )
and AC3DTS Xform ( http://inmatrix.osnn.net/ac3xform.exe ).

As what is shown on the webpage, it only support those mention sound card and is not meant for Audigy 2 ZS.
You can get a minijack to coaxial cable and connect from the sound card through the digital out jack to the coaxial input on your speaker system.

Audigy 2 ZS Gamer Splinter Cell (I have two issue with this ga

.) Hello, I got my soundcard for Christmas. I got around to playing Splinter Cell but I cannot update my game at all. The latest patch from UbiSoft .2b will not install at all. I get an error that tells me there was a problem with finding my version of the game. Does anybody here that also has an Audigy 2 ZS Gamer have this same issue with Splinter Cell? And is there anyway I can resolve this issue?
2.) I finished the game but during one of the extra mission called Vselka Infiltration, I get stuck after activating the PC in the compression room that raises the submarine. I would like to see if an update to my game will work but since I can't I have no idea how to complete this mission.

Try moving the Audigy 2 ZS to a different PCI slot and see if that fixes the conflict as this is most likely the cause of the problem.

Audigy 2 zs gamer conflicting with c

I have a strange conflict between my sound card and my cdrw dri've. The sound card is an audigy 2 zs gamer edition and the cdrw is a liteon, I can't seem to find the exact model #. I narrowed the conflict down to the spdif connector, when the spdif is connected between the dri've and the sound card during a hard reset or cold boot, the dri've's access light goes solid and it does not show up under device manager. However, during a soft reset this does not occur (assumming it was fixed before the reset). Now I've found that if unplug the spdif, turn the computer on, plug the connector back in, then proceed with a warm reset, everything works fine. But I don't want to do this every time the power goes out or I need to turn off my pc. Is there any way to permanetly resolve this problem without leaving the spdif unplugged?

Hi! I recently bought a Thermaltake Armor Case and have had an Audigy 2 ZS Gamer for a while. I have searched online for a way to connect the front panel audio to the sound card for a while, but to no avail. Does anybody have any experience with this case + an audigy 2 ZS?
