Audigy 2 and ASIO driv

I have recenty installed an Audigy 2 and loaded the most current drivers for it from Creative. I am using the WDM drivers but would like to try ASIO drivers. It was my understanding that the latest driver package had the ASIO drivers as well. They don't appear in the list of drivers that I can try. If I browse to the SBAudigy 2/program/WDM/Common/ I can see CTASIO.DLL which I think is the driver but if I try to browse to it when updating driver it doesn't work cause I think it is looking for an .ini file. Any way I can't find anywhere that explains exactly how to install these drivers.....but from what I have read they would be best for what I want to use it for which is recording. I am usiing Windows ME if that makes any difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

yeah thats its, i've recently had a hard dri've crash and had to reinstall everything on my pc, i had the creative asio drivers before but they aren't there now.
The thing is though i lost my installation cd for my audigy 2 and i'm using my mates to install, however when i try to install card from cd it says there no audigy 2 card present, so i had to install the drivers manually by searching on the cd and the sound works fine.
I'm thinking my mate doesn't have the same audigy 2 card as me and thats why it aint working, do you know how i can find out which audigy 2 i have?
I've disabled on board sound in bios so its not that.
There is a sticker with a serial number on card (something like MSB0243xxxxxxxxx). The bolded part on my example shows the model of your card.
I think you can install these drivers (use the instructions if you don't like to install the Audio Console utility too).
Also, you can download ISO image file of the original installation CD by following this link. Install software by running the start.exe found on CTRun\ folder in that image file (when extracted or burnt).

  • Audigy 4 ASIO driver inquiry

    Hi,
    After reading thru several posts in different forums, I still have one question:
    What (the heck) is the purpose of the "SB Audigy 4 24/96" ASIO driver mode? I can't record anything when I select that, in Logic 5 for Windows. With the normal driver "SB Audigy 4 ASIO", it's fine. The card has a good sound, and nice software, but this doesn't work... I also find that more often than not, the reply to these types of messages is something like "get another soundcard". Well, no thanks! The non-pro Audigy 4 is actually the single most expensive piece of hardware inside my PC (except the processor maybe?).
    What's more, the on-line documentation states that the card has ASIO2 support for 24-bit/96kHz recording, the feature that I want to use, but how?

    I don't know about Logic,but i had that issue with cubase sx and my audigy 2zs (i guess they are similar cards). When i choose Asio 24/96 it mutes the Line-in in creative mixer, so there is no sound incoming to cubase.
    Solution for me:
    - open cubase and select asio 24/96;
    - with cubase still opened go to creative mixer and unmute Line-in (check also if you have Analog Mix as the recording source);
    - set the Line-in level in creative mixer to the amount i want (usually 0db);
    - then return to cubase and activate Analog Mix in the "Vst input" menu;
    - add an audio track, arm it to record, check the input source (it must be Analog Mix), activate monitoring and hit record.
    Now i'm recording with asio 24/96 and monitoring all the effects i want in that track.
    Note: When you choose asio 24/96 your card inputs will be reduced. With my audigy 2zs i'll have only 3 input sources and the only one that's used to record with asio 24/96 is Analog Mix (Line in).
    Hope this will help you.

    If it uses the same drivers w/ Li've! 24-bit then no ASIO support (look from CT support downloads) --> you need to use Asio4All instead.

  • Cubase 6, Emu1616m and ASIO driver HELP!

    Looking for some help on some ASIO driver issues concerning, ASIO drivers, EMU1616m soundcard drivers, and Cubase 6.
    So I have tried setting up Cubase 6 a few different ways and am having problems with drivers I believe.
    When using the EMU E-DSP drivers for Cubase, my latency is up to 300 ms for input and output which is a problem that definitely affects VST performance. Plus for some reason when I use the EMU ASIO driver my track peak meters in the project view are really choppy and glitched out, not smooth and flowing like they are with the ASIO4all driver.
    There any way to lower the latency of my EMU ASIO driver?
    I'm getting 13ms with ASIO4all but it doesn't see all of my 1616m inputs, it only sees 2.
    And anyone had problems with glitching peak meters?
    They work smooth on the ASIO4all driver.
    Any help would be awesome or if someone could point me in the right direction even that would be a good start!
    Thanks!

    Under Devices > Device Setup > VST Audio System there is a drop down box that says ASIO Driver next to it. That is where I select E-MU ASIO driver. I do not see an ASIO control panel... Okay wait, I clicked on the E-MU driver in the Device Setup list and it does let me select the control panel. It says my buffer latency is set to 4ms? To the right of that is says "Input Latency: 300.998 ms" and just below that "Output Latency: 299.728 ms"
    I don't think Cubase is working at 4ms cuz when I try to use Superior Drummer 2.0 VST there is serious lag with each drum hit.
    There is no distortion in the audio at all. I sent a picture of the meter I'm talking about.
    The meters are doing wierd things. Imagine a sound playing with the peak meter displaying the audio signal. now imagine you cut off the signal. You know how the meter would usually fall smoothly while the sound dies. Well the way it looks now is like stop motion animation. The meter would be at 50% then jump to 30% then 10% then blank. Very jerky like the signal is not being read by cubase right yet it sounds fine when I play back the track.

  • Problems with Audigy 2 ZS ASIO driv

    I have some problems with ASIO drivers in my Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro. I use the program Cubase SE. When I select the SB Audigy 2 ZS ASIO 24/96-driver, it works for some time but then the sound starts cracking and popping and eventually doesn?t work at all until you reselect the driver. And with the SB Audigy 2 ZS ASIO-driver I can only record in mono, even though I checked the inputs. I think the Creative ASIO-driver had the same problem. Actually the ASIO Multimedia Driver has functioned the best. What could be the problem?

    Indeed, if you think it's something that might be useful to others aswell, then it would be nice to have it up here

  • Cakewalk Guitar Tracks Pro 3 doesn't list my Audigy 2's ASIO driv

    Hey, guys!? Not sure what happened with my ASIO drivers listed from my soundcard, but they are no longer listed in Cakewalk Guitar Tracks Pro 3. I'd like to use them. I can use the WDM drivers instead, but when I want to use my other recording program (Sonoma Wireworks RiffWorks), it REQUIRES Asio drivers so I'm stuck. Any suggestions? Thanks!
    Wes

    ASIOCaps just lists I/O vhannels/format, current buffer size in samples, driver status and supported samplerates for your selected ASIO driver. If you see those Creative ASIO and SB Audigy ASIO [xxxx] drivers listed there then you have all needed drivers installed properly ... also, it's possible to adjust driver latency from there by pressing the Control Panel... button.
    If you don't see those two drivers listed there then you need to reinstall Creative drivers or use Asio4All.
    Which O/S you have there (w2k, xp, vista)?
    Try to search those files mentioned in my previous reply and if you can't find both then reinstall drivers.
    BTW, also, are you sure the Audigy card is enabled on software (if you have a headset plugged or onboard sound enabled, you maybe get it'sdrivers listed instead of Audigys). Many software uses system default audio device ... when you plug say headset it maybe gets the system default audio device status .... and if you have onboard audio enabled then just switch the Audiy back as default audio device (mmsys.cpl)

  • SoundBlaster Audigy ZS Pro ASIO DRIVER Questions w/ Cubase

    <SPAN>
    <SPAN>I am using Cubase SX 2.2 and the SoundBlaster Audigy ZS Pro. I need to gain a better understanding of the differences between the three Creative ASIO drivers that Cubase SX 2.2 recognizes. They are as follows:
    <SPAN>
    <SPAN>Creative ASIO - [Cubase sets default sample rate at 48KHz ]</LI>
    <SPAN>SB Audigy 2 ZS ASIO 24/96 (B800) [ Cubase sets default sample rate at 96KHz]</LI>
    <SPAN>SB Audigy 2 ZS ASIO [Cubase sets default sample rate at 48KHz ]</LI>
    <SPAN>I can understand that the 24/96 ASIO driver supports 24 [email]bit@96KHz]bit@96KHz[/url] recording. I am not sure what the differences are between Creative ASIO & SB Audigy 2 ZS ASIO. I have read other related post on this subject and it was stated that the Creative ASIO is the older 6 bit ASIO driver, but I noticed something interesting in relation to the input devices that Cubase SX 2.2 sees between the three are quite different, but it's opposite of what you might imagine.
    <SPAN>Here are the details:
    <SPAN>For Both Creative ASIO & SB Audigy 2 ZS ASIO, Cubase SX2.2 lists the following inputs:
    <SPAN>Line in / MIC L & R, Line in 2 L & R, Line in 3 L & R, SPDIF IN L & R
    <SPAN>and then the strange...MIX L & R, MIX FL & FR, MIX RL & RR, MIX FC, MIX LFE (?), MIX RC ( twice), MIX SL & SR
    <SPAN>No OPTICAL?
    <SPAN>For the SB Audigy 2 ZS ASIO 24/96, Cubase SX2.2 lists the following inputs:
    <SPAN>Line in / MIC L & R, Line in 2 L & R, Line in 3 L & R
    <SPAN>No SPDIF or OPTICAL?
    <SPAN>I assume the MIX inputs are for the Dolby Digital Bus Mixers in Cubase to be able to send outputs directly to the Surround Channels?
    <SPAN>I set the Latency all the way down to 2ms for each driver. Currently I am achieving a Input of 3.042ms & Output of 2.00ms w/ the 24/96KHz & w/ the other two I am achieving a Input of 4.083ms & Output of 2.00ms. Not sure why the difference?
    <SPAN>I'd really like to gain an understanding or be directed to some documentation (Audigy Manuals lack in this detail) to help explain these differences and understand why the 24/96 driver wouldn't list the same inputs if it's the same card. Is this just a bug? Any updates to fix?

    As it's an OEM product you have there, you probably need to modify the installer meant for original CT products. I have posted some instructions long ago so if you search here by using "ctcomp.exe" as a searching criteria you might find that thread. You also need drivers from older installer since CT made some changes to the installer so that the old ctcomp won't work with the latest driver installation. IIRC, there were a fix-up for this too available but I'm not sure where it was introduced ... was it @ DHF (link given below)?
    You can download the CD as an ISO image from BadBoys site (http://badboy.filefront.com/).
    IIRC, there were some other instructions for this @ Driver Heaven Forums and also you might already heard of YouPAX driver mod ... which can be found @ Driver Heaven too.

  • Problem updating Audigy 2 NX driv

    I have a Dell 8600 notebook with an Audigy 2 NX. I have no problem installing and running the device when using the original driver from the disc, however when I try to update to the newer drivers I get nothing but crackling and screaching noises.
    I have had this problem for a while now, support were of no help to me so I decided that i would li've with it for a while. I have just reinstalled my system and thought I would try the new drivers again but again I have the same problem. I can li've with original driver but I think this means that the device is only connected as a USB . device, is this right? If anyone can help me with this I would be very greatful as it is starting to annoy me now.

    This is just a thought but it may be possible if you use 3rd part drivers for your 2nd card.
    So, try these drivers for NX and use original (Creative bundled) drivers for MP3+.
    NOTE: I have never had USB cards, so I have not tested if USB-ASIO driver shows as another driver on your driver list(s). It's also seems to be compatible with both of your cards.

  • Extigy usb audio ASIO driver trial version won't uninst

    I installed a driver to enable ASIO that had a trial version that beeps every 30 seconds until you purchase the verification key code. I decided to try something else, possibly another soundcard with ASIO already installed (although the driver does work) and proceeded to uninstall the driver (usb-audio.com). It said there was an error uninstalling, to re-boot and try again. I tried this multiple times. I re-installed the Extigy software and drivers but the system info still says that the old driver is the main one ("manufacturer" usb-audio.com) AND THE BEEPING WON"T STOP!! It's driving me insane!! I sent a message to the manufacturer but have not heard back. I would rather just buy a new soundcard with ASIO than pay for a third party driver but would use this one or another if anyone knew where a free one is. Someone PLEASE help! The beeping won't go away unless I unplug the sound card!
    Thanks!
    Todd

    Oh, you'll look for whatever string the driver you installed gave you. For example, when I once tried to install the nForce Audio drivers on my Sigmatel Sound card (which didn't succeed), I ended up with an extra item called "Nvidia ASIO". Creative's ASIO drivers show up as the following:
    Creative ASIO
    SB Audigy 2 ASIO
    SB Audigy 2 ASIO [24/96]

  • Using VST plugins and ASIO for everything?

    Just a thought. Oh how much I'd like this!
    To be able to use universal VST plugins and ASIO for everything directly from Windows would be ideal. To put this simply, making the Creative Windows "mixer" a true equivelent of a pro-software mixing app (Ableton, ProTools, Sonar, Cubase, or any other) in terms of absolute control for all Audio effects and I/O.
    If Creative won't ever do this even on their next gen cards, somebody or some company that knows a decent mixer setup should write such a replacement mixer soon offered at a fair price (if not free) that will do so with easy, complete, reliable integration.
    Long and specific
    VST related:
    - Use X-Ram to cache inserted VST plugins. Now theres a potential great reason for it since it obviously doesnt use any to cache the I/O bus like ALL OTHER periphials that have Ram caches. Its use is dictated by software, so why not?
    - Allow setting some tiny but likely necessary amount of X-Ram as an additional plugin audio I/O buffer. This should be much less than what mixing software needs for this setting since that would all have to pass the CPU.
    - Use Creative's processing hardware directly instead of the CPU so VST plugins won't increase CPU usage (within reason of course).
    - Yield overhead when using lots or higher-demand plugins if set in bit-match mode. Why waste all that power for SRC when Voxengo R8Brain or plenty of other pro software can do that a million times better and way faster in non-real-time? OK, only Creative could work this one in.
    - Why VST plugins? I'd trust my favorite EQ, digital limiter or whatever that has 64-bit float internal precision and oversampling vs. a 24-bit (rounding-error heaven) with no oversampling like the built in Creative ones.
    - If Creative has confidence in the quality of their own propriety effects, doesn't have to be VST but simply making them usable as a ReWire bridged devices into most any host with parameter automation controls and all. Obviosly these could have much lower latency than VST that normally relies on CPU processed software code.
    - The only argument against this is that some VST plugins have huge latencies. Optional latency delay to keep tracks
    - Allow Creatives hardware to insert as a ReWire slave or otherwise bridged device to ASIO-based apps so VST's can be outsourced from demanding more CPU when mixing. I could also add MIDI plugin effects as well.
    ASIO related:
    - Allow changing any and all audio I/O routing for individual channels on the fly for Windows and ANY software (not just ASIO compatible stuff). Just like in Ableton, Pro Tools, and every other WELL designed "mixer".
    - Treating XP itself and any software that normally goes through DX/MME/etc to use this ASIO mixer by making it appear as an insert send/return in the mixer so it can get routed and processed individually to my liking.
    - Can insert send/return signals for any DX/MME/etc program to/from any track or #tracks in any combination up to some reasonable limit with pre/post gains. At least several send/returns slots per channel.
    - A game that uses ASIO would be sweet. 0% FPS drop. IMO DX/MME/wave-mapper sound sucks. No control, many wasted CPU cycles, and horrible latency.
    - Ability to save/load PROGRAM-specific routing chains. Having it so simly running a certain program will automatically insert it how/whereever I specified, if not default, with all relevant I/O settings, including plugins and related settings that were put in the insert send/return path series to that program of course.
    - Put real-time SRC, compression encoding/decoding, or any Creative effects as well whereever I want in the signal chain, whether universal to a track I/O or program insert send/return I/O.
    - Ability to record tracks or the master likewise.
    - No digital feedback possible caused by monitering/recording/routing configs that would be possible in any decent mixing software. Surely not ever from a default setting or made sometimes impossible to prevent like on the Audigy series. Well unless I do something stupid that SHOULD cause feedback. Speak of a truly worthless mixer, this BTW is the ONLY reason I couldn't just go the manual route and run my host all the time, forcing ALL sounds through it for real-time playback with my Audigy. I'm assuming XiFi's Audio-Creation Mixer doesn't have this horrible problem.
    - Imagine putting any combination of sounds in 7.1 surround, monitering specific channels to any physical output, or up/downmixing 5.1 as it plays in real-time, etc. any thing like this possible instantly with a few mouse clicks! This would be SO EASY and completely possible to implement, most of the above right onto existing XiFi's as is.
    It's not like it would be competing with pro-interface rackmount products so no harm to Creative. I sure as h*ll wouldn't record with any soundcard's analog pre's or unbalanced connections for that matter. Guess I just love the interface and control of a REAL mixer that can do it all.

    cusis wrote:
    But would it be possible to somehow use the power of the card to take on some of the load of the cpu, users would surely then see alot more benifits from these cards.
    I don't see why this isn't possible with enough X-RAM. Why no host apps support offloading VST plugin cache buffers and rendering threads to it? I'm probly returning my XiFi and sticking with my old Audigy 1 until either I blow it up or Creative makes a REAL upgrade with most the aforementioned features that literally COULD'VE been implemented in XiFi's current hardware.
    If they do, they'll have my business and many others I'm pretty sure. Creative, if your listening and you want to like triple your sales - PLEASE get a clue and get the software end right. Microsoft or any audio host software developers, heres your (fat) chance if Creative wont do whats really their responsibility.
    If ALL apps were forced to pass through ASIO as I mentioned, this could force all apps and games to use part of X-RAM as an I/O buffer no matter what specific support is. The same way a video card can offload ALL video including Windows, not just when running certain games, or even worse, certain audio apps lol that specifically support video RAM and DX performance controls! That would be the stupidest, most worthless idea and why Video Cards don't waste their hardware this way. And yet this is what XiFi currently does regarding audio. Somebody change this SOON.
    This would be SO cheap and easy for Creative toss together and implement and would solve EVERYONE's problems and make ALL games at least get SMOOTH AUDIO. He!! Creative could charge $30 extra for it or just push out a new line of cards and itd still be worth it. Creative, did you read that part? More profit$$$ Like a video card upgrade, I EXPECT a night vs. day improvment but as it stands, XiFi is simply a glorified Audigy that costs more but much LESS likely to work right.
    More importantly, its use of ASIO (the real deal) remains no less limited than an old Creative card from way back when. If Creative wants their soundcard to integrate with software better, learn from Nvidia/Ati and deliver the goods as they've done it all along.

  • Audigy 4 Pro Driver Annoya

    Hi,
    I am currently experiencing issues with my Audigy 4 Pro drivers whilst trying to use SPDIF pass-through to my external decoder (and surround setup).
    I am running the latest beta drivers available through the website and until I installed these drivers, pass-through worked fine. Now however, my decoder is unable to recognise a digital signal from the soundcard.
    I am loathe to backpedal and install the old driver again because as well as a film enthusiast I am also a gamer and need the OpenAL support that the beta driver provides. In addition to that my PC used to suffer intolerably long shutdown periods using the original driver supplied on the CD.
    Can you tell me if this is a known issue, and if so will a stable release of the driver ever be made available? I find the issue extremely annoying as this was an expensi've bit of kit and I have previously owned both an Audigy and an Audigy 2 without having had any problems.
    Many thanks,
    Pete

    You obviously have not read my last post properly. If I go back to the old driver then I suffer horribly long Windows shut down periods again and also lose OpenAL support for games. It is definitely the Creative driver which causes this.
    Very dissapointed with creative on this one.Message Edited by pshuttle on -28-2005 05:29 PM

  • Z97 Gaming 9 AC - How ASIO driver work?

    Hi everyone.
    Some week ago, i wrote about the 'not working' ASIO driver.
    This was because some driver issue, fixed with the latest driver release.
    So now, ASIO device is detected from software like Ableton or Foobar.
    Fine.
    Now the main question is: how it work?
    When i select the ASIO device, there's no audio output incoming from my speakers.
    The fact that i read 'USB ASIO etcetc...' information, let me think a bit.
    Is it possible that the ASIO device on this mobo, work only through USB port??
    There's someone here that can give some explanation about it?
    Thanks.

    Quote from: JLio01 on 26-September-14, 20:43:21
    I confused..Which port do you connect to your ASIO device??
    I do not connect anything to my pc.
    I just connect my monitor speakers to my jack audio port; then, software like Ableton, or Foobar, can 'use' the alternative driver ( the ASIO ) to take advantage from it.
    ASIO drivers must 'replace' ( or add ) the standard audio device ( the Hig definition Audio stock driver ).
    So, i intend it to work like a 'second' audio card ( normally ASIO product are managed as a 'stand alone' output device ).
    ASIO are specific driver that enhance audio routing.

    1. check the "i58.tinypic.com/mvnpmf.jpg", right click on playback section and check "show disabled devices", and see if you can find your device and set it as the default device
    ok i'll try it when i'll back home again, but i think i did it and there are no other 'phisical device over there.
    Quote
    2. make sure you've downloaded the ASIO support 2.1.2 on foobar website (sor I noly have foobar to check), and put the file under foorbar2000/component fiolder, open foobar and check this for me:
     file => preferences => playback => output
    Do you see "ASIO virtual devices", select and press Add new, and check if there's anything called ASIO Output? or ASIO Multimedia Driver?
    yes i did it and it work ( if i'm not wrong ). i'll try it also again.
    Quote
    BTW can you show me what else can you select inside Ableton?
    sure.
    i'll do.

    Alright...check these for me would be helpful. And we'll see what's next.

    Perhaps Asio4All or USB-ASIO (LX not said to be supported) driver is needed to be installed to get a sort of ASIO support for that USB device.

    Whenever I have Premiere or audition or After effects opened---- should I want to play a media clip on J River Media center, or Windows Media Player, the Asio driver is locked by the Adobe products, so the other media players do not have access to it. This may be a new windows 8.1 phenomenon, as i never had this before with 64 bit Windows 7.
    I have had some success running the other media players on the lousey windows sound drivers, but they don't sound nearly as good as the Asio driver does, with its near zero latency.
    My sound card is a Lynx aes 16, and the Win 8.1 PC pushes the digital audio out to my Berkely DAC , then to separate mono bloc amps, into  Magnepan speakers as the reference audio system for my music and video editing....or for  entertainment listening :-)

  • Sound Blaster Audigy and STAL

    I've got the following problem. In game called "S. T.A.L.K.E.R" i can hear very lound sounds of shooting and very silence people conversations.
    I've got "Sound Blaster Audigy" and Creative Speakers.

    Hi,
    There are several choices if it comes to Audigy (emu0kx) drivers;
    First you can use the last official Creative Labs' driver for the Audigy series which you can download on the official driver download site here at Creative Labs' site, but you will loose a lot of apps/softwares, but it should work;
    The second one would be the mentioned Daniel_K's driverpack 3.8 for the Audigy series which works pretty good, although I dislike the individual installers/uninstallers for each applications which makes uninstallation of the driver very annoying.
    The third one would be the Project KX driver which is very light in size but very powerful, especially for recording and other music related purposes. There's a learning curve since it really looks different (interfaces for example), but once you have found out how the KX driver works you will be happy you own an genuine Audigy emu0kx soundcard.
