Audigy 2 driver prob

Got this huge problem with the drivers for my audigy 2 card. Just formatted my dri've, clean WinXP install and threw in the latest drivers from this page (includes creative audio console). My problem, I get seriously crappy sound from my center speaker (really low, cant hear voices in movies), and neither can I install the surround mixer, EAX console or the Speaker setting program (which I wanna use to see if my fronter is working allright). I've had lots of trouble with the drivers before (subwoofer not sounding when I config my speakers, drivers just stopped working twice etc etc). I've run the automatic update tool here and it doesnt do me any good. Starting to piss me off, cant install the **bleep** tools, it says "Setup did not detect the required components." when I start the installer, and in that crappy "Audio Console" I cant do anything... Before when I was using Win2k (way better than xp, btw) I had this nice tool (blue window, could manage everything, surround mixer, speaker settings etc), the Audio Console just isnt ANYTHING like it. Using a set of Logitech Z-5300 if thats of any importance ... But even if its my speakers that are faulty, I should at least be able to install the tools to check! You need to install all software from Creative CD, bundled w/ your card.
If you don't have the CD, check, if BadBoy has this CD in his collection - http://badboy.filefront.com/

What happened to new Vista Audigy Drive

Okay, so I check for new Vista drivers (with apps so I can use MIDI and soundfonts!) for my Audigy card every night. I was hopeful when X-Fi drivers were released last week. No Audigy drivers? Did I miss something? WILL there be new Vista 32 drivers with apps for Audigy cards or is CL abandoning them completely?
If CL goes down that path, what X-Fi cards will do MIDI with soundfont apps (like XP soundfont manager - loading soundfont banks into computer memory)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. So much frustration!

dear one and all! greetings to all who are breaking their head after buying vista and trying to make their 5. system woking. i downloaded the vista audigy driver from the support site of creative but i have lets say only 0 per cent of the performance. there is no 5. output, no add on drivers and no mixers , the usual hoopla hapla one gets while buying new hardware! i was wondering if the moderators could help me ! what shoud i do get 5. audio with vista and audigy. i already have the vista driver. it doesnt seem to help. please help! thanks in advance!

Audigy 2 ZS driver prob

*sigh* Where to start?
A couple of days ago I made the huge mistake of deciding to reformat my hdd's and "start fresh" as my computer had been developing some issues over the past few months. I'll spare you the horrid details of my struggle to get WinXP Home installed.
I get booted up with my fresh install of XP and begin the wonderful task of installing Norton Internet Security, Ad-Aware and then playing the update game for Windows. Once that is all done I decide it's now time to get my hardware drivers up to date. I begin with my Audigy 2ZS Gamer card. In a nutshell what's happening is this: I can install just about every driver package I have (Install CD and downloaded versions) but my sound card just flat won't work. I have zero sound with the exception of my system speaker in the case which only beeps to alert me to errors or during bootup.
When I check the status under Device Manager it shows everything is working perfectly. No conflicts anywhere. I browse through to the actual listing for the sound card itself and the initial screen tells me that my device is working properly. In fact every screen/window I look at tells me that my card is installed and working just fine except for one. In the properties tab (where it shows what device is being used for certain programs such as midi device, mixer, etc.) if I highlight the device under any of the trees and click the properties button I get the following message "Driver is enabled but not functioning properly". Furthermore, when I click on the settings tab in the window that gives me the status I get an error message stating "Cannont load Creative Audigy Audio Processor (WDM) driver. The driver file may be missing. Try installing the driver again, or contact your system administrator".
This is a problem that I have never encountered in my 0+ years of building and maintaining my own systems. I am a total loss of what to do next. I have double, triple and quadruple checked my BIOS settings to ensure that my onboard sound was (and stayed) disabled. I have un-installed and re-installed my card numerous times using 3 different PCI slots. During this Windows never once auto-detected my card. It always attempted to install a Multimedia Sound Device instead of a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 product. To test my card to make sure it wasn't fried I installed it in another computer running WinXP and it auto detected it just fine and began the installation process with no prompting from me at all. I have un-installed and re-installed the drivers from both the install CD and stand alone downloaded drivers using numerous methods (including the ones listed in the "Read this before posting" thread for this forum). An interesting note regarding driver installations. The latest stable (ie Microsoft signed) drivers will not install for me. I get an error message stating "Setup did not detect the set of required components you have. Setup will exit". Yet I have 2 sets of beta drivers that install just fine. Well except for the part where they are enabled but not functioning properly =P.
So now I am stumped. My card worked perfectly in this same exact system just 2 days ago before I decided to reformat. I didn't have any problems installing it when I originaly built the system either. In fact this is the first major problem I've had installing a SB card in any system for quite a few years now. Short of attempting to re-install Windows again (which I highly doubt would work anyways) I am all out of things to try. Anyone have any other suggestions or perhaps even experienced this problem before and might be able to help me out? Oh and before someone suggests it, yes I did keyword search these forums prior to posting and didn't find anything that would help =).
P.S.: It seems that these forum don't want to play nice with me either. Appologies for the horrid formatting of this post. I hope there aren't too many cases of bleeding eyes because of it =).

Audigy 2 ZS "correctly" installed, but drivers details on "mixer", "midi" and all the codecs details are "installed but not working correctly".
I'm going to format and reinstall everything to see if it's due to previous drivers for an "onboard" sound card

If it uses the same drivers w/ Li've! 24-bit then no ASIO support (look from CT support downloads) --> you need to use Asio4All instead.

Sound Blaster Audigy SE Driver Prob

I have a problem with Sound Blaster Audigy SE,
Im using newest from creative download site SBA_PCDRV_LB__04_006.exe drivers.
After I turn on a game like ut2004, fear combat, even dxdiag (sound test) or pause sound in music/movie player system stops reacting or process "System" uses 95-00% of my CPU.
After few tests I discovered with help of KrView (kernel view soft) that p7filt.sys uses such big ammount of cpu If in Speaker Settings, Bass Redirection and Subwoofer Gain (+5) is turned on. (5. speakers)
I installed a bit diffrent version of drivers (from cd and even later I tested SBSE7_XP_Jul2005 additional driver). But then Subwoofer Gain option isnt working at all
its written Subwoofer Gain (+0) and with sub gain +0 sound quality very poor like in AC97 audio.
Ive also checked friends sound card on my pc and also i've tested exactly same thing on other computer.
I have xp sp2 with updates, newest bios, directX, etc etc...

OK..first of all the Audigy SE lacks any form of hardware acceleration, so turning on features like bass boosting/sound post-processing etc. will take away a lot of CPU time. The file you mentioned just acts as a software real-time filter, although it should not go up to the point of bringing a 2.4 Ghz Pentium 4 to its knees.
The sound quality will be altered even with every "DSP" effect (quoted because there's no actual hardware DSP, it's just emulated in software) set to 0, as long as the "DSP is considered acti've.
That's because the sound output is first converted from the time domain to the frequency domain (in poor words, the continuous sound wave you hear is broken down in many different frequencies like in those 80s ghettoblasters spectrum analyzers) because it's easier to amplify bass/treble that way, and then converted back to time domain (in even poorer words, a continuous sound wave you can hear/record/playback).
It's obvious that doing that thing in real time has a CPU cost, and even more obvious that the procedure is lossy and the input will not be the same as the output even with no effect applied, as long as the this double conversion takes place.
If you really need bass boost, turn any sound processing on the card OFF, and use speakers which have it. Also, if the CPU usage is abnormally high, try updated or a specific older version of the drivers that has more reasonable CPU usage/doesn't have that bug.

Audigy Platinum EX expansion card/external drive prob

I have used this card for home studio recording and gaming for a while with no problems. I recently built a new PC and now cannot get the external dri've or expansion card to work. The sound card works otherwise. Games, CD, wave files, and plugs on back of card work correctly. I just cannot get the any input through the external dri've to work. All connections have been checked and double checked. The card has been uninstalled and reinstalled both physically and through device manager. Drivers have also been uninstalled and reinstalled.
Help.

Are you getting a red light in the optical out port on the EX dri've? If not it may be that the power lead connected to the card itself is not working. You may want to try another one if possible. Gi'ven the double checking that you have already done, if this doesn't help then you may have a dead dri've. You can contact support to arrange a repair if needed.

Audigy 2 ZS plat live drive prob

Hey everyone, I've had this problem for several months now (since I first got this card and li'vedri've, actually). The deal is that when I plug my headphones + mic into the li'vedri've in front and set the Creative Surround Mixer settings to Line 2/Mic 2, it works fine for awhile. Everyone can hear me in Ventrilo, Teamspeak, on CS, or whatever... but after awhile the settings get changed in the Creative program. I'll have to alt-tab out and see that instead of it being set on Line 2/Mic 2, its changed to the Microphone input...Has anyone experienced this problem? I gave up on it with my old headphones, cause the mic went out. Now I have some Sennheiser PC-50s and I want to be able to talk in my games again! Please help me figure out what could be causing the software to change inputs on me! You would think there would be an option to "save" your settings, but I don't see one, so I'm looking for some advice on here!Thanks in advance!-Nick-

Well, I just searched the forums here and found that this is a common problem in Counter-Strike, not the Creative software. I will try the solutions the other users have tried, and hope it works. If anyone still has a helpful comment, please post!

No, this isn?t April st and I kid you not. Creative really does think that people are going to pay money for a driver. Understandably, Creative customers are getting emotional over this. Destroying your reputation over $9.99 ? bad move.
This charging money for drivers game is getting real old. Any company that tries to pull this kind of stunt is underhandedly?double dipping customers. There?s no excuse for it. I for one won?t be buying any more Creative Labs gear until they get the message that providing drivers is a service that customers have already paid for when they bought the hardware in the first place.

Just because a game works in XP does not mean that it has to work in Vista. And this is exactly what ALchemy does; it ?fixes? a problem with games designed for XP or earlier versions of Windows. It has nothing to do with games designed for Vista. Even with ALchemy, there are many games that worked in XP that will never work in Vista.
I am actually surprised that Creative made ALchemy at all. This is really something that the game companies should have come up with because it is really their products that are being ?fixed?. If a game is made specifically for Vista and the game advertises that it uses EAX effects, then Creative won?t have to provide anything but the basic sound driver for that to work.
As far as saying that it is ?pointless semantics?, you?re flat out wrong. The games that ALchemy ?fixes? never made a guarantee that they would provide EAX in Windows Vista and all anyone has to do is point to the system specs on the game box and say ?show me where it says Windows Vista?. Like it or not, it was actually very generous of Creative to provide ALchemy, even if they charge a sundry $0 for it.

MBP internal drive failure causes external drive probs. Weird...

I've been booting off an external drive for some months now. I figured it would save wear on the internal drive, and when my boot drive eventually failed (the external one) it would be quicker and a lot cheaper to swap that out with another external one than to have to change the internal drive. I use FW800 and not seen any performance hit.
Yesterday (with the whole system booted from the external drive) it started going really buggy, everything was painfully slow - like, virtually at a standstill, and with a very slow wi-fi internet connection.
I tried rebooting. It would only boot from the external drive, and only if I held down the option key and selected a boot from the options that appear. Otherwise just the apple symbol and an endless twirly. It wouldn't boot from the internal drive +at all.+
Eventually I booted from the SL disk and ran disk utilities. To my surprise the internal drive was corrupted in some way and couldn't be repaired. I wiped the drive and restored it using Time Machine (stored on yet another drive). Everything then worked fine, except for the slow wi-fi.
So, +why should a corrupted internal drive stop the MBP booting from an external drive?+ This is worrying for me if the machine ever goes down at work and I have to rely on booting from another drive, which then might not boot properly and is buggy.
To complicate matters (or does it offer a clue?) this morning I booted from the usual external drive. It worked ok, but wi-fi was still slow. Another Mac here was showing the same internet slowness, so I figured it was maybe the ISP.
Then the MBP itself started going slow n buggy again. A check on the internal drive showed no return of yesterday's probs. On a hunch I unplugged the router from the mains and plugged it in again. The wi-fi then worked properly as did everything else.
+Why would a buggy router affect my MBP? Could it have corrupted the internal drive?? Why should any of that affect the machine's ability to boot from an external drive..?+
Thoughts anyone?

Driver probs or duff FX5200 ???

Hi got some more problems with this card so much that I’ve had to take it out of the PC and put a Nvidia Geforce2 MX400 which is working with no probs.
Back to the problem the PC seems to be below is a message I’ve sent to MSI tech help.
I have a MSI FX5200-VTD128 video card installed in the MSI KT6 Delta-FISR motherboard, running at 2800+ Processor. I have installed all the latest drivers and also tried some earlier drivers for the card but the system is very unstable re-booting or hanging from the error reports I seem to of traced the errors back to the Graphics card. This leads me to think there is a problem with the card as I get the same report with 3 different drivers “for the card the one that came with the card NVIDIA’s latest driver & the latest driver off the MSI site.
I have also noticed on system boot when the information about the graphics card is displayed there is no information.

Installing driver prob

Hi i just installed windows xp 64bit edition, and installed the new 64bit driver for my audigy2 zs, but not all apps were working, so i went back to windows xp pro 32bit, now i'm trying to install my driver with a disk i got from my friend, but each time when i try to install the driver it keep popping up saying that it can not find a soundblaster card, and make sure i installed it correctly.
I have checked all the wireing and even trying to install the drivers from control panel in device manager using the disk. This way works, but it still won't give me full function of the audigy 2. I would like to install my driver using the disk, does anyone know what could be the problem i'm having? Thanx in advance for your reply.
the disk i have is not orginal, but a burnt copy, but it's the same disk i had before that i made a copy for my friend. I recently lost my disk so i borrow it back from him. could this be the problem b/c it's not orginal disk? But how come my friend can use my burnt copy just fine?

is there any other way to install my drivers without the cd and still get all of the audigy 2 zs functionality? LIke the sound control on the tray to control my bass and treble? That's the most thing i'm missing. I guess what i'm saying that i can install the drivers by just going through the control panel way, but i can't get the software that's in the disk, so if there is another way please let me know. Problems with new Audigy driv

I have just installed a Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum Model SB0090 to replace my old SB Li've. When upgrading from older Audigy drivers to the latest drivers available on the Creative support website, I find that they cause serious problems with my 4. digital speaker system (Boston BA7500G). With either of the newest drivers installed, when I adjust the volume using either the Creative Surround Mixer or the Creative Remote Control, it causes the rear speakers to stop working. Closer investigation revealed that moving the volume slider in Creative Surround Mixer had a strange effect in Windows Audio Control Panel. Upon opening the Speaker Volume tab in Windows Audio Control Panel, it revealed 8 speaker channels (suggesting that it detected the Audigy card as a 7. when in fact it only supports? 5.). When I moved the volume slider on the Creative Surround Mixer (in either direction) it had the effect of moving all but three of the speaker volume sliders in the Windows Audio Control Panel (Right Channel, Left Channel and Channel 8) to zero, with the result that the rear speakers stopped working. Inm other words, Windows was insisting that the speaker setup was 2. and not 4. as in the Surround Mixer selection. ?It made no difference if either or both of the checkboxes ?Synchronize with Windows Control panel? in Creative Audio Console or ?Move all sliders at the same time? in Windows Control Panel were checked or not. This problem is present in both SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_8_000.exe and SBAX_PCDRVBETA_US_2_8_000.exe. It does not appear to be present with the older driver SBAX_WBUP2_LB_2_09_006.exe, so for now I have rolled back to that. In fact, with SBAX_WBUP2_LB_2_09_006.exe Windows Audio Control Panel only shows 2 channels in the Speaker Volume tab; Left Channel and Right Channel, but all speakers in my 4. system work and the controls in Creative Surround Mixer and Remote Control all work fine. I would like to be able to take advantage of the fixes available in the two newer drivers but they cause me serious problems. Can anybody help? Finally, the presence of a beta driver on the website suggests that a newer version is coming soon. I wonder?if this issue be addressed with the new driver.

I have some problem as you with new drivers SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_8_000.exe and SBAX_PCDRVBETA_US_2_8_000.exe. Only in my case I use SB Audigy and headphone 5.. Always when I check 5. in Audio Console it reset to 2.. I can set 2. or headphone only.Message Edited by AlkaliX on 09-3-2008 09:53 AM

Audigy Gamer prob

I have a Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer that I bought quite a while ago. It is retail and installs fine off of the CD (drivers, applications, etc.). Because the drivers on the CD are so old I want to update them. I downloaded the AUD_WEBUP_PCWDRV_-84-40 driver setup program off of Creative's site but it gives me the "Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster Audigy on your system."
In the device manager there is the Creative Audigy Audio Processor (WDM) and it is enabled and is shown as working properly, which it is. The sound works through the card and everything plays okay but I want to update the drivers and everything for the next generation games and whatnot (though I probably should just upgrade the card, but that is irrelevant).
The web setup program is an .exe file so I cannot just extract it and get the drivers out so I don't really know how to get around this detection problem. Any help would be appreciated.System:AMD Athlon 64 3400+EPoX 8KDA series motherboardBFG GeForce 6800 OC

Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Prob

I usually don't have major problems with my computer.. I scan reguarly and check for spyware... I keep my computer clean..etc..
Last night I rebooted and got errors...
one was:
PCI input device could not be found..
and also
394 network adapter
I also had no sound..
I reinstalled (I thought) and got my sound back..with no icon on the task bar..(no diagnostics) come to find out I had not installed and when I tried it would not let me..gave me another error saying..
could not detect sound blaster audigy 2 on this system
Please ensure sound blaster hardware is properly installed before running this setup program
this setup will now exit..
I do have sound now..but its still not showing I have Sound blaster audigy 2 software or anything of Sound Blaster on my computer..
I have checked device manager and all hardware is working properly..
I have a dell computer with windows xp
any help would be greatly appreciated..

Dee,
If the card came supplied with the PC, then you may need to contact Dell to get specific drivers or applications for it.
Is the card working correctly now? Is it listed in Device Manager, with no error messages? What did you use to reinstall, was it a CD, or a driver? If it was just a basic driver pack, then it's likely that doesn't include any extra applications.

SB Audigy install prob

Ive had a audigy card off my brother , he updated his to an audigy2. Now he could not find the drivers.
So i've downloaded the drivers from creative lab. Installed the card driver and i get sound. Now i try to install the sound blaster pack to have mixer playcenter ,etc. It keeps coming up No sound found.
I have winxp sp2 . I can install my old sb li've 5. digital,with no problem . Its just the audigy card i have problems with.

I had the same problem. Easy solution: use the Software AutoUpdate from the creative site that can be found under support.
