Audigy 2 Freezes sys

Since I reinstalled my entire system, I've been having problems with the front panel of my Audigy2 platinum card. While installing drivers, the whole system just freezed, so I tried formatting my HDD (2 times). Nothing happened. I remind you that the problem occured while I was installing audigy 2 drivers (I tried both new and old ones). Eventually, I disconnected the front panel and the problem dissapeared, but I DO WANT to use the front panel, after all, that's one of the reasons I paid 4 the freakin' card a lot more.
I have Fujitsu Siemens scaleo 800:
(Mainboard MSI 648Max)
Suggestions.... ?

How did you contact Customer Support? By e-mail or phone? If you're referring to not getting a customer-support-response on this forum I'll have to direct you to the red announcement that is at the top of every board. This is not a support forum.
Regarding your problem, what kind of power supply is in your system? Did you try disconnecting your floppy (if you have one) and using that power connection to connect to the dri've?

  • Problems With Sound Blaster Audigy: New Sys

I just received my new computer from Dell:
    Pentium D 3.0ghz
    Geforce 7800 GTX 256mb
    2 GIGs ram
    Windows Xp Prof x64
    SoundBlaster Audigy
My problem occurs in my game called Nascar Racing 2003 Season. The sounds play fine, however when It comes time to load more 3dimensional sounds (like cockpit), the sounds turn into a high pitched buzz, and then freezes my computer so that not even ctl-alt-del works. Sometimes this happens when exiting the game as well, and my system does a complete memory dump and then shows this file: ctoss2k.sys..
I've reinstalled the drivers, the game, and I'm out of ideas. I don't have any other games to test this one, but I've run the Dell diagnostics and run the dxdiag for the sound and it passed with flying colors. If nothing can be done here my next idea is getting on the phone with Dell and having them fix my new computer!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
P.S. On my last computer I had Sound Blaster Li've! and that worked perfectlyMessage Edited by mciarlo on -0-2005 04:05 AM

Noticed your setup (XP PRO 64)
Correct me if Im wrong but I dont think there are drivers for 64bit yet Right?

  • Sounblaster live value 5.1 digital freezes sys

Hey, I am having trouble with my sounblaster li've value 5. digital (model # ct4780), everytime that I try to install it, my system will boot ok, windows will recognize the hardware and then everything will freeze completely. I am sure that it is not a conflict (at least on one of the machines) because it used to work on the one machine (and I have not done any hardware changes). But, I tried switching it to another system and it would just freeze. I tried switching it back and the same thing happens.... Any suggestions other than chucking the thing?

I guess you got what you paid for... reffering to the motherboard
I cannot give you direct links but you can Google for AuzenTech X-Mystique, X-Plosion or for Turtle Beach Montego DDL... You will need a PCI slot thou, and those are not hardware accelerated soundcards (like the most of Creative ones) so they will eat some of CPU usage. How much - depends of your CPU power, of course. Your present card anyway, has no hardware acceleration so is ok I guess...
Another solution would be to add the Creative DTS li've encoder (I don't think is worth the investement for your crappy Li've24bit): http://us.creative.com/products/prod...y=6&product=49
I don't know of any USB solutions for this.

  • Audigy 2 platinum EX . Computer freeze probl

Every time I try to intall my new soundcard the pc freezes after booting up. I'm running xp pro with service pack 2, and the pc has a pentium 4 , 2.4 Ghz processor. This is the third card I've had with the same result. The PCI slots take graphics, and other cards with no hassle, but audigy freezes everything up.
    Help....please...please....

I have a simular problem. On the first boot of the day my system will freeze, could be 2sec in, or 2 hours. Once i restart it runds like a dream. Now confirmed it is soundcard drivers by process of elimination. What drivers did you install to get it working without the freezing?

  • Audigy Platinum Freezes in

I just did the upgrade from 98 SE to win XP and even installed SP2. I then went and installed the latest drivers from Creative. Now I have some real problems.
The computer , Dell P4, Nvidia GE force 4 MX 420, 52 Meg RAM, ran fine with Win 98SE. Under Win Xp, everything runs fine until I try to play sound. Any kind of sound from a program, Cd, Mp3 etc. will freeze it up and then it gives off this high whining pitch sound. Sometimes even the sound from my email program will lock up the computer. The only way out is to turn it off.
Been reading all the posts and FAQs I can find, But I can't find anyone with a similar problem.
There are no conflicts in the system resources and I even disabled some of the hardware that was sharing the IRQ to no avail.
    Can anyone help?

    Hi
Dell might use it's own version of drivers for Audigy.
Dell has some BIOS -upgrades to resolve these Audigy freezing problems - check your PC model and go to -
    DELL -support pages
There is this 'SOD' -thread you might want/need to look.

  • Missing bits in Audigy

    Hi group
Two problems with my new Audigy 2NX:
) 6bit and 48kHz is the "highest" level (it should be 24bit and 96kHz)
    2) Whenever I try to move the record level button Audigy freezes and I must reboot the PC (sometimes it helps to unplug-plug the USB connection).
I have uptated with AUDX_WEBUP_LA__00_000.exe, but I'm still missing the 24bit.
    Kind regards
    Niels

Bit support in Java is very large.
    1) java.util.BitSet
    2) The bitwise operators, & | ^ ~ and the shift operators, << >> >>>
    3) Integer.toHexString, Long.toHexString, Integer.toString(..., 2), Long.toString(...,2)

  • Echo disk /sys/power/state broken

    Hello all
After recent update after long time my hibernate was broken
    #echo disk > /sys/power/state
does black screen and standby of display later. But system block not turned off, e.g. fans are worked.
    #echo mem > /sys/power/state
is working. Before update echo mem not worked right
    #cat > /sys/power/state
    freeze mem disk
Install old kernel not resolve the problem.
I try to do debugging hibernation with https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentatio … ugging.txt
    echo freezer > /sys/power/pm_test
    echo disk > /sys/power/state
    worked
    but
    echo devices > /sys/power/pm_test
    echo disk > /sys/power/state
    not worked
If the "devices" test fails, most likely there is a driver that cannot suspend
    or resume its device
    Who can broke hibernation process?

In my case, monitor freezes too.
And I have only one PC, so i can't try ssh.
I logged into runlevel3 and try
    sudo pm-suspend
and it works fine. So it seems this trouble caused only in runlevel5.
I also tried following command in runlevel5
    # echo freezer > /sys/power/pm_test
    # echo mem > /sys/power/state
    # echo devices > /sys/power/pm_test
    # echo mem > /sys/power/state
    # echo platform > /sys/power/pm_test
    # echo mem > /sys/power/state
    # echo processors > /sys/power/pm_test
    # echo mem > /sys/power/state
    # echo core > /sys/power/pm_test
    # echo mem > /sys/power/state
Everything works fine but sudo pm-suspend failed.

  • Two sound Ca

?I have 2 sound cards on my PC, a SB Li've Value and an Audigy installed with their original drivers but they don't work very well. The Audigy is the primary and the SB Li've is for monitoing. The sound is good , but it seem they are in some kind of conflict one to the other. The Audigy reacts slow when I hit PLAY and when I use Soundforge to edit sound on the SB li've, the sound on Audigy freezes till I stop Soundforge. Even if I open an web site the Audigy stucks. Please can anyone help!?<!-- IBF.ATTACHMENT_886 --><!-- THE POST -->

Sorry guys, forgot these basic things. My mobo, the Striker Extreme, has no onboard sound. It shipped with a crappy SupremeFX sound card to be installed seperately. Since I always had a Creative card, I never even bothered with it. In BIOS, the only options are Auto and Disabled. It was always set to auto and was never a problem, but when all this started happening, I switched it to disabled to see if it helped, and it didn't.
As for the power supply, I have a 700W SLI-ready OCZ GameXtreme.
Thanks for the replies guys, I appreciate it.

My computer freezes up about once a week and points to the sound card driver and ctoss2k.sys. Is there a way to fix this problem?

I have tried it with one videocard. Doesn't solve anything.
I searched for IRQ problems. None found.
And yes, it looks like the Sqeek of death.

Just disable the gameport on "Device Manager" to see if it's the culprit.
Have you also played with mouse settings (acceleration and saple rate)?

  • Temporarily freezing audigy 2 and firewire not working - sol

    hi,
i had two problems with my audigy 2 using windows xp:
    a) my firewire port didnt appear to work. i had only one device using firewire which was my creative jukebox zen. i could only transfer 95% of the first mp3 and then it would say that my mp3 player is not responding.
    b) i experienced random and temporary freezes, not only while gaming but even when writing e-mails. everything would hang for a few seconds and then continue to work like if you write text it will appear after the hang.
firewire: i used my audigy 2 in my old pc with windows me and win 2000 without any problems. neither with firewire nor with the eax4 driver patch. under win xp i could only transfer mp3s via usb and that is slow as hell as you can imagine. i first tried if transfers using the firewire port on my mobo worked but it didnt, same prob. i found a fix from microsoft that is not listed in windowsupdate at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en (KB885222). that did not solve this issue but maybe you need that too so I mention it here. then i found some new drivers on the creative site. "oh you fool, why didnt you say earlier that you're using old drivers?" someone might say but these drivers dont work or more specifically, its setup routine sux. it quits with "an error occurred". wow cool... but it appears as it unpacks the driver to c:\program files\creative\jukebox3 or something (note, i have a zen and not a jb3...) so I uninstalled everything, rebooted and told the device manager manually to get the drivers from that location. now it works.
freezes: it took me many, many hours to search the internet, but i found absolutely nothing. sure i'm using the latest drivers (yea they actually work), put the card in slot3 and stuff. then i found a post on this board that mentioned that this guy's audigy had a heat problem. it became too hot and hung. hmm. i have 2x 2cm fans sucking heat out of the box through the radiator of my water cooling so heat is actually mostly get rid of through water and whatever else produces heat (harddisc, video card ram etc) is cooled by some really strong air flow. so wth, this card has worked for almost 2 years in my old box. so i opened the case and saw that air circulation around the audigy was impossible as its sandwitched by two other cards. those parts that i was able to touch were not that hot but i dont know how hot the main chip became and i have no clue why a sound card can become too hot from playing an mp3... anyway, i have left my case open and since then i havent had any freezes. now i also know why the freezes suddenly appeared and not since after i setup my box 3 months ago: it was open until i had cut a hole for the radiator...
oh yea, its good that my expensi've creative stuff works and that it was not creative's fault but that of a moron of a user. now honestly, how is an average user supposed to get their product working when the knowledge base is totally outdated and gives advice such as "update your bios, get the latest drivers and dont put your card into the microwave", when mods in this forum give advice like the knowledge base and the driver is not even installable? creative products are not bad at all, they're not cheap at all too. but the support page is absolutely not informati've and the knowledgebase does not give solutions to known issues. i was never ever able to find anything useful there and i'm really really not an average user but a very experienced one. not everyone wants to use a pre-installed dell box with el-cheapo components. i like to put my own high-end rig together and things must be pushed to the limit BUT still be absolutely rock solid. let me list my recent experience with creative products during the past 2 years:
-) bought an inspire 6. surround system and even replaced my audigy with version 2 for it. but unfortunately the subwoofer had a problem. it randomly made a popping noise which was so loud that it pushed your adrenaline level to that of a base jumper. i then found out that the whole batch had some faulty component. at least i got a replacement within a week, so i thought "yea, great support".
-) bought a jukebox zen, 20gb with firewire. it worked great for almost a year. then it died. when i switched it on, only the creative logo appeared, thats it. recovery mode was inaccessible too. it took me 2 months to convince the support lady to let me return this junk. first they sent me a new adapter because maybe it was damaged and the battery was low and therefore it didnt work anymore... then i was told, ok you can have a new one but we dont have firewire versions in stock anymore. you can have a usb one now or you wait until we get the firewire zen again. i said wtf, you produce this so why dont you have them in stock? and the usb version is sure not an equivalent to my firewire player. woot after 2 months i got a new mp3 player... had to rip 250 cds again (i really prefer having originals) and copy them to the player, but ok, i'm happy again. no, i'm not. this one doesnt work properly either. everytime i dont use the player for more than 24 hours i have to rebuild the database and scan the harddisc. that takes about 0 minutes for like 3000 songs!! grr... but i didnt want to argue with the tech support about that, i can li've with that. maybe i can flash to an older bios if i find one somewhere. from what i read somewhere it is caused by the zen going from hibernate into "off power" mode and then it forgets a few things.
and now i had the two issues described above and had to find a solution myself because the support pages dont help at all. sure you can say i should have thought of a heat problem but all important components are watercooled (even the north bridge) and i had some good airflow in general, but not around the sound card. and who knows that the audigy is that sensiti've to heat and that a sound card even gets hot at all. i've never heard of sound card cooling... i'm not that disappointed about the quality of the hardware because it is ok imo, but with the horrible lack of quality of the support and the buggy driver installation. hey, you get free advice by your customers, think about that. they tell you by themselves what the problem is and what they think may cause it. sure many posts are just flames but you should take ppl here more seriously. and if other manufacturers are to blame then put a list together like: msi k8n neo2 platinum - in this case upgrade to bios .2 or in that case install this or turn on/off that.
alright, i hope anyone can use this information. sorry for the length but i wanted to describe things as precisely as necessary. cheers from austria.

Hi folks,?Initially my audigy 2 nx was not working. But after installing the drivers for vista it started to work. But unfortunately, the other application from creative media source is not working. When I press EAX it says '[color="#000099">the application with the device not found'. But the sound card is working fine.[color="#000099">?[color="#000099">I have even mailed creative with the details. They have sent me a mail with the drivers and an application driver. I have installed the application driver too, but still no luck.[color="#000099">?[color="#000099">Kind regards,[color="#000099">Jwell[color="#000099">?

  • Audigy 2 Value, hap17v2k.sys, and the B

Hello. I would like to state that if this is not the place for this question please feel free to remove it, I just figured this would be the first forum I tried for this question.
So here it is: I own a SB Audigy 2 card, and I'm trying to play this game: http://agtp.romhack.net/doukutsu.html - only when I load it, it causes my computer to crash.
    Now for the long version:
I used to have an SB Audigy Gamer sound card, until I moved it into another computer and upgraded to this SB Audigy 2 Value card. I've played this game (which was built on DirectX 5, btw) with the old card and had no problems at all - though that was before I reformatted, so other settings and files may have changed. I can play other games fine - Final Fantasy 7 (uses DirectX 7), and even the newest stuff (Half-Life 2 - uses DirectX 9). This is the only game which does it.
    Exactly what happens is this; when the game first loads, there is no sound (the way the game is designed). Once the title screen comes up, where there is sound, a second or two later my computer crashes with the following error, and an annoying clicking or screeching sound loop playing over the speakers (as you would normally hear if sound was playing when the computer crashes);
    DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
    Stop: 0x000000D (0x0000000, 0x00000007, 0x00000000, 0xB7C89B)
    hap7v2k.sys - Address B7C89B base at B7C6A000, Datestamp 4095DD7F
Well that's some of it anyway. I'm fairly certain it's due to the sound card because (a) in the properties for that .sys file it has Creative as the manufacturer, and (b), the game comes with a seperate program for listening to the music files - running this program is fine, but as soon as you try to listen to the music - it crashes... same error.
Here's what I've done so far:
    - Re-downloaded and reinstalled the game
    - Uninstalled and reinstalled the sound card
    - Uninstalled all PCI cards except for the sound card, and reinstalled the sound card
    - Verified that Windows, all my drivers, and BIOS are up to date (including the audigy drivers)
    - Verified that the sound card is not sharing an IRQ, or any other types of resources
    - Tried the game with various Windows XP compatibility settings (Win95, etc.), reinstalled DirectX, messed with the sound card's hardware acceleration (all the way off and all the way on).
I think that covers it all - also I do have an open discussion with Creative's support, trying something new every day now but I'm hoping someone here can help even a little bit.
I've run all the dxdiag tests and they've all passed, but here is the output if it's any help; http://www.eaglemaint.com/link/DxDiag.txt
Lastly, my system specs at a glance:
Asus A7M266-D motherboard, Socket A chipset
Two .53 GHz AMD MP 800+ processors
256 MB nVidia GeForce 6800 GT
    .5 GB PC200 DDR
    250GB and 30GB HDDs
    Two 52x CD-RWs
    4-port Asus USB PCI card
3 Linksys 0/00 Ethernet PCI cards
    550 Watt Antec PSU
I think that's all the important stuff. I've done searches here in these forums, on google (only a handful of sites even mention that .sys file, so I can't find any information on it), and in creative and microsoft's support websites. If you have any ideas at all on what might be wrong or what I could try to fix it, please let me know. My AIM name is "The Eagle Maint" if you'd prefer that, or my email is [email protected].
Thanks ahead of time for any help anyone may be able to give, and let me know if there is anything else I can provide... I'm sure I'm missing something.
    -Mathew Tate

I'm not sure if the drivers are compatible between the two cards.
Recently when I uninstalled the audigy 2 and put in my old audigy card, I didn't remove the drivers first - upon restarting, the computer recognized my audigy with the audigy 2's drivers. It seemed to work ok, but I installed the normal audigy drivers anyway.
The catch is, well - the reason I really contacted support in the first place - when I had my audigy 2 card installed (with the audigy 2 drivers from the CD) I couldn't install the driver updates for my audigy 2 from the creative website. Basically, the online auto-update feature wasn't working, and when I manually downloaded the programs and ran them, they said that I didn't have an audigy 2 card installed. I got that resolved with support after they suggested that I download the audigy 2 'value' drivers - I had been trying to get the regular audigy 2 drivers (not value) before that... so basically, I think the audigy 2 can only take the drivers that I have installed now.
I suppose it is just some kind of incompatability, it just kind of baffles me because it used to work fine on my old audigy, and you said you've tried it with your audigy 2 and have no problem... computers can be such a pain.
Anyway, thanks for the help, I guess I should just be thankful everything else works ok.Message Edited by The_Eagle_Maint on 07-05-2005 04:25 AM

  • SB Audigy SE (SB0570) / Win 8.1 64bit completely freezes on sound playback

    hi there,
I got a problem: my audigy se doesnt work on windows 8.1 64bit.
I freshened up my pc and installed a clean win 8.1 os on a new harddrive.
I tried installing the official SB24_PCDRV_LB_1_04_0090a.exe driver.
I got a audigy se (sb0570), and driver installation works fine. the card got recognized and it can play a sound, but after a few seconds my whole PC freezes without bluescreen. it doesnt matter if it is a flash video, a mp3 or just a windows sound; it always freezes. when the sound device is disabled, the system runs without freezes. I can start a playback, ofc there is no sound, but the system is stable.
my card works fine on win 7 64bit with older drivers. plus, I am using the support pack 2.6 by daniel_k (I still use my old SDD with win7 on it and everything works fine). I also tried support pack 2.6 on my win 8.1 system but it doesnt even recognize the card. the newer support pack 3.0 does recognize sb0570 and actually the sound works for about 10seconds (my 5.1 system works fine for that 10 sec, all speakers are getting a signal, but then it freezes...).
so, both the official and the unofficial drivers are not working.
    has any1 a clue?

EddieObscurant: 4. works fine for me in AC3. I use AC3filter though and it has it's own speaker settings. Perhaps that helps until the next release.
daniel_k: I uploaded it to 4shared.com and MediaFire for you since I don't really like Rapidshare. I hope you don't mind.

Sure I don't mind, thanks for helping, but I've?just uploaded an updated package, version 3..
Fixes an issue that prevents Speaker Fill from working.
There is also a hotfix in the main post, so those who have already installed Support Pack 3.0 don't need to reinstall.

  • Windows 7 freezes on Disk.Sys

Hello, I have a pc with Windows 7 RTM 64 bit that I got it off of MSDN. The OS was installed and had been running without any problems for several weeks. I recently installed some updates and after I rebooted my machine I found that I can no longer boot into Windows in regular, safe or repair mode. My pc just freezes after the "starting windows" screen without the animation starting. In safe mode, the pc freezes when it hits "disk.sys". I can't even use the installation CD to boot into repair mode.
I've tried taking out components, changing ram, unplugging all unnecessary devices. Nothing works. Anyone have any ideas? Everything worked perfectly until last night.
    My pc specs:
    Intel e5200
Asus p5n7a - bios is in Nvidia RAID mode. Changing to SATA does not fix anything.
    HDMI out

    Hi,
I noticed that you can't launch Safe mode and Startup Repair mode, even using the installation CD. Regarding the current situation, I would like to propose the following methods.
Method 1. If you own another available DVD drive, please connect it to the computer and boot using the installation CD. Then boot in WinRE to perform System Restore, if System Restore doesn't work, let't try to use DISM to revert pending actions.
    1) Try using the DISM command to see what update is in a problem state:
    dism.exe /image:d:\ /get-packages
    2) Use the /cleanup-image switch with DISM to revert the pending actions:
    dism.exe /image:d:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions
    3) Once this is complete, try starting the PC into Windows.
Method 2. You can also create a USB boot disk to launch WinRE and take the above troubleshooting steps.
Method 3. Unplug the hard disk and slave to another available computer, then run the following commands:
    chkdsk /f
    sfc /scannow
Plus: basicly before installing Windows Updates, Windows will automatically create a restore point on the hard disk. You properly can run System Restore to get the previous status of the hard disk on another computer.
    Best Regards
    Dale
