Audigy 2 issu

Hey there,
I just recently formated my computer and can't seem to locate my disc to install my Audigy 2.
From the downloads I downloaded:
-SBAX_WEBUP_LB_2_08_0004
-SBA2_PCDrvBeta_LB_2_08_0002
-EAXCONSP0223
I'm attempting to get my Sound Blaster 6600 (which I'm also missing the software to) to work properly, but currently only 3 of the 6 satelite speakers are working.
Please advise?
Thanks much!

The iso was exacty what I was looking for, but I do have another issue. When I go to instal it, it says that it didn't find any 'Sound Blaster device' and tells me to make it work before installing.. What do I need to do to make it read my Audigy 2?
OEM cards do have some troubles to get installed (well known issue here) Try install using these instructions (use automatic method).

$C? When playing music on my computer the sound skip's, stutters and pauses. I have these symptoms when playing aCD as well as MP3 files . I tried different players but all have the same result. I have updated all drivers including Chipset and Sound card. Thinkingit may be an IRQ issue but I do not know where to begin. Is it just a bad sound card please help!

Oh my sweet Jesus Creative, what are you doing?!
This is just funny - I can't play MP3's in 5. mode! LOL!? You 'aving a bath!
On top of that you've rendered DDL useless because my spdif output doesn't appear in the drop down box.
Interestingly though I can MP3 in 5. fine through VLC player.
Have you added some kind of hardware MP3 decoding or something?
You know if you're trying to keep us with you, or encourage us to upgrade, you're going about it a very odd way.

  • Microphone stuttering - Vista x64 & Audigy 2 ZS

    3Microphone stuttering - Vista x64 & Audigy 2 ZS? Hello,
since I've got no reply in the support pack thread, I post this new topic.
There is an issue with the microphone port of the Audigy 2 ZS running on Windows Vista 64-bit (SP2).
Voice input randomly begins to stutter after some uptime and only a restart of the computer temporarily fixes this problem - until the distortion occurs again.
I've tried many different driver versions (including the latest v2.8.000), but nothing changed. It seems only the 64-bit edition of Vista is affected by this.
At last an additional post, quoted from zan2828 in the support pack thread:
    Daniel_K,
Being that you are extremely familiar with Creative's drivers, I figured it would be best to address my question to you.
Are you aware of the microphone robotic voice issue with the Audigy 2 in Vista? I use x64 so I am unsure if this problem exists in 32-bit. Basically, every so often the microphone will stop accepting voice inputs properly, and the resulting output will either be filled with static, or sound like a robot.
The problem exists in voice chat programs (Steam, Ventrilo) and also the Windows Sound Recorder. A reboot will fix it but the problem comes back. A quick "Reset to Defaults" in the Control Panel sound options will sometimes fix it, but not always.
Is there something you can modify in the driver to fix it's If not, do you know exactly what is wrong with the code? If you cannot fix it, hopefully Creative will, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
    Thanks.

When using a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 series or X-Fi series sound card in a 64-bit Windows system with four gigabyte (4GB) RAM or more, various issues can be experienced. Often sound playback becomes jittery, choppy and noisy and recording fails to work. Sometimes you can record sound, but it's horribly noisy and scratchy. This happens with the latest 64-bit drivers for both product series, under Windows XP 64-bit, Vista 64-bit and Windows 7 RC 64-bit and other 64-bit Windows operating systems. The issue goes away if the computer can see only 32-bit amounts of RAM, as in 4GB of address space minus PCI addressing. On a 64-bit system with 4GB of RAM installed, disabling Memory Hole Remapping in the BIOS makes the issue go away, since there is no RAM amount above the memory hole address space. Consequently, disabling Memory Hole Remapping on a 64-bit system with more than 4GB of RAM does not solve the issue, since there is RAM above the 32-bit limit of address space. Many users have reported varying issues most likely relating to this, such as noisy input and output, corrupted audio and a complete loss of EAX and ALchemy functionality under all 64-bit Windows operating systems. Consider this report a collected issue observation for 64-bit Windows systems with more than 4GB of RAM installed and usable. This is a serious issue, affecting all 64-bit Windows systems. It is severely hurting customer trust and the Sound Blaster brand.

  • No audio with Audigy

Well, I've spent days trying to get sound on vista and I'm still unsucessful. Hopefully, someone can help. I'll summarize my situation. . Installed the final version of Vista Ultimate 32bit on a new harddri've on my system. (nothing like a clean install). I still have my old HD in there as a slave and by changing the boot dri've in my BIOS I can easily revert back to my XP just in case I had problems with vista. 2. My motherboard is an ASUS A7V8X-X with an Athlon 2600+ processor. The motherboard has a built-in Realtek sound card. 3. Initially I had sound, but at some point it stopped. Unfortunately, I didn't notice it until I had no way of knowing what stopped it. So I tried installing the latest Realtek drivers and nothing would work so I decided to go out an buy a new sound blaster card that had vista drivers. Since I'm not heavily into "sound", I just purchase an inexpensi've Audigy SE card. 4. I uninstalled the Realtek driver from the devicemanager rebooted and change my BIOS to disable the on board sound card. 5. When vista booted I ran the install for the vista beta drivers for the Audigy SE. Still no sound. 6. Rebooted. Still no sound. 7. Changed the sound card to various PCI slots, rebooted, etc. Still no sound. 8. Just to make sure, I booted to my Windows XP dri've and installed the drivers and the sound works well. A little skippy I must admit, but it works none the less. 9. Another symptom is that my little speaker icon in the task tray has a red x on it and if you select to open it, it says, "No audio device is installed". 0. If you look at the card in the device manager it seems ok. . If you go to sounds in the control panel, the recording tab hangs the control applet. Does anyone have a clue what it going on?or how I can figure what to do to fix this. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks?

    This is getting stranger...
I just found that some DVD movies do play OK with good audio.
The DVDs which play without audio play OK on a set-top DVD player, however.
Those same DVDs have also played with good audio with my internal Soundblaster card, so I'm assuming this is still an Audigy issue.

  • Not getting sound AT ALL in iTunes 7 on WINDOWS

Contrary to what it says in the model/OS fields, I also own a PC desktop machine running Windows XP Pro SP2. It is my desktop machine and thus has a much better speaker system than my MacBook, and I don't have to unplug a million things when I take my MacBook to school.
Anyway, I'm not getting any sound out of iTunes on my WinXP machine. I've tried the "Safe Mode GUI" thing and playing with my settings in QuickTime to no avail. I can't figure out what's wrong. It works fine with my MacBook Pro, however.
    HELP!!!

    1) Which of the audio-out ports are your speakers connected to?
thank you again, Nathan! that was the crucial issue in a couple of the Audigy threads i've been involved in.
at the moment, in 7.0.0.70 sound-problem threads, i'm mostly just "patrolling point" with the standard troubleshooting document on sound issues, making sure that a bunch of the usual suspects are off the table:
iTunes and QuickTime for Windows: Songs and other audio don't play correctly
... if there's an Audigy issue afoot, i generally leave it to the folks who have more experience with the Audigy tweaking to work through the more advanced issues. (don't think i can take on another advanced-advice field at the moment without becoming completely swamped.)

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Software Issue: Volume Control, Speaker Settings, Equalizer, C

I installed my ZS Platinum back in December, everything worked fine for 2 months, then I started to hit trouble.
First, the driver began hanging when I took my headphones in/out, resulting in no sound from either output. I updated the drivers and this problem went away.
Then, I was gaming and all the sound stopped working. Reboots did nothing, so I tried to reinstall the drivers. This is how the problems began. The first time I uninstalled all my creative stuff, downloaded the newest drivers, and installed that. I didn't realize that I couldn't download all the bells and whistles off the drivers page.
So, I unistalled those drivers, and used my CD to install the drivers and MediaSource. I encountered the PLXcore.plx error during install and every time I booted Windows. Also, none of the extra applications (Volume Control, Speaker Settings, Graphic Equalizer, CMSS) would run. I uninstalled, reinstalled and tried again.
This is where I am now. I chose not to install MediaSource this time. Again, I encountered the PLXcore.plx error during install, but I'm not receiving the error when Windows boots (because I didn't install MediaSource?). But still, most of the little applications don't run. I see the Volume Control icon in my task bar, and if I press the mute button on the keyboard the symbol changes, but when I click on the icon, nothing happens. "Creative Volume Con..." flashes on the taskbar, and a 0px by 0px white box appears above the task bar. If I click anywhere else, they disappear. The Graphic Equalizer, Speaker Settings, and CMSS dialog do the same thing when opened. THX Console does not.
Also, the on screen display for volume no longer pops up. Is this part of MediaSource? Should I install MediaSource even if I don't plan to use it's
Running XP SP2 on an AMD X2 4200+ with the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum.
EDIT: Thought I'd add in another problem I have:
I usally run my DISH reciever's sound through my computer through the Auxillary 2 RCA connections on my front panel. When I boot World of Warcraft or Warcraft III (Both Blizzard games), the sound through this connection becomes very tinny and reverby. If I alt+tab out of the game, adjust the speaker setting (5. -> Headphones -> 5.) the issue goes away. But each time I start one of these games, the problem returns. Any ideas? Known problem?Message Edited by Cuttlefish on 03--200703:9 PM

I'm sorry I can't help but I have the exact same problem. I have no Speaker, EAX or graphic eq settings. No telling what else don't work. I have tryied 0 different ways of removing and loading it back with any and all updats and without and no success. I hope someone here can help us.

  • 2 issues with last Audigy 1 driver upd

I have presently 2 issues with the last drivers released for the Audigy cards. Both issues are able to be reproduced consistently, and did not happen with the last release (from last year), or at least not consistently.
. Crackling while playing back Quicktime files has increased. Previously it was around in 0 files that crackled (and only Quicktime that I noticed). Now it is around in 3.
    2. I cannot play back DVD's through Windows Media player 0, period. Whenever I try I get the following message:
"this pin cannot use the supplied media type"
How do I know this is driver related? Well, by reverting to the last drivers the message goes away. Also, if I disable the soundcard totally the error goes away and the video plays, albiet without sound.
Anyways just thought I'd post this here so hopefully someone at Creative sees it and actually fixes the issue.
BTW, yes I did try reinstalling the drivers. Twice. Even redownloaded them in case the original D/L was corrupted.
Edited to clarify about the DVD issue:
To make it a little clearer about the DVD issue, when I first got my Audigy while using the original release drivers on the install CD, I could not use 5. output with the soundcard decoding. To try to get it working, I would put the output to SPDIF and set the soundcard to decode AC3. This would not even allow the movie to play in WMP 0, often just crashed the player. With the last driver update before the January one, I could set the output to SPDIF in WMP 0 and AC3 to decode in the Creative audio control panel and I would have 5. surround output. With the last driver update, setting output to SPDIF and trying to play the movie gives the 'this pin cannot use the supplied media type' error message. If, however, I start the movie on 2 speaker output in WMP 0 it will play normally. While the movie has started I can go into preferences and switch output to SPDIF and 5. surround kicks in and works fine usually. But, if I then stop the movie and restart it I once again start getting the 'this pin cannot use the supplied media type' error, and the DVD will not play.
Also thought it worth mentioning XP is up to date, SP2 and all the latest patches, Nvidia drivers up to date (not that it's a video card issue) and Direct X is up to date also (I run the update once a month just in case).Message Edited by Drifter73 on 05-5-2006 0:35 AM

    Jay,
As to your first question: it could be a OS and discoverer problem that you are running into. I would suggestion upgrading atleast to 3.1.45 or higher. If you can go to 4.1
I can not really assist you with your other questions as I do not have that version available..

  • Issues with mixer etc for Audigy SE in Windows 7 64bit

My system is currently Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and I have just installed the SB Audigy SE PCI card.
I have uninstalled the onboard sound software and disabled the onboard sound in the BIOS.
I have disabled all audio devices showing in the sound/playback devices.
I am hearing audio fine on the system but there are issues I would like to try and resolve. When I attempt to launch the applet to control the mixer, select speaker config etc I receive an error stating that the hardware that the application supports is not found.
I have downloaded the latest software and run the auto update to be sure that this is the case. I have attempted to run the applets from the installed folders to see if that would help. I have set admin privledges for the applets and even attempted to run in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP3. None of this hel
    ps.
I have searched the forums and found several threads that list the error, but the posts I found were either not for this card/windows version or not answered. All of the threads found were at least several months old. I am familiar with working in the BIOS, working in the registry and with hardware troubleshooting.
I would like to get these working as the sounds are not quite to my liking with the current config. I do not do any audio editing, but I use my system extensi'vely for audio playback and for gaming.
    Thank you in advance.

    here, it's the application which i boxed in green;
    http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/2382/unledign.jpg?
please note the requirements which tells that application(BasicAudio Suite) doesnt supports win7 either 32/64bit.
trust me, i tried that with my XP SP3 and it game me troubles either. by reverting my XP SP2 made it work cuz it tells supports only XP SP2.
we need that application so that we can tweak more with the audio like; equalizer, diffrent soundfields etc... yeah, there was a big difference when we can tweak it more specially with the equalizers. better bass, treble and everything.
so there's no way we can fix/access that when we are into win 7, Alchemy has nothing to do with it btw... i have it either.
for now our tweaking would be limited with this; ( Creative Audio Control Panel which you could find at the Start menu button)
    http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/42/unledvy.png?
adjust that slider according to your liking, mostly it just adds/reduce the echoes with the audio as far i had observed.

  • Creative audigy 2 (SB0400) + windows 7 x64 compatability issue.

Hell everyone, I am experiencing an issue with my sound card " the creative audigy 2 (SB0400) model " . I am running running windows 7 x64 bit with all latest security patches and updated drivers where available. However, when using the provided drivers from windows update (WDM), I experience a pause when listening to any type of music files ie: mp3,flac,ogg just to name a few and when playback on several media players, it freezes the sound + mediaplayer for a minute or two, then it will play onward. Also when not playing any media files, I have noticed a crackel pop every so often from my speakers, which can be annoying as well.
Now, I have uninstalled the drivers provided by windows 7 update via " Start button > Computer > Manage " and selected Device Manager Then Sound , Video and Game Controllers and Right clicking on Creative SB Audigy 2 (wdm)? and choosing uninstall making sure the box is checked to also "Delete the driver software for this device" And did a reboot afterwards. After the reboot I have now downloaded the current driver pack from Creative Labs website SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_8_00. It has installed successfully other than the fact that it has detected a previous driver (by windows updates), which I had " thought " it was deleted by windows 7. Now after i have installed the SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_8_00 driver, when going to the speaker icon in the windows 7 tray area and selecting sounds I am annoyed by a message box saying: Windows has detected that audio enhancements for the following device are causing problems: Speakers (Createi've SB Audigy 2 (wdm) )? Would you like to disable the Driver Enhancements for this device ?.
First of all, Why would I want to disable the " Driver Enhancements " for my SB0400 card when the card is supported for it. Are these issues be fixed, if so, please point me to the rigth direction for the proper support for my device. ?
Also, I have been noticeing when playing any type of media file mostly all formats out there the sound will just RANDOMLY stop and freeze.

  • EAX issues in games with Audigy SE, one way or the ot

Hello everyone. I hope I'm asking for help in the correct forum. If not, please forgive my noobishness. =)?I don't know what's wrong, but EAX in Bioshock has terrible issues. I have XPx64 SP2, Audigy SE and when my corvette was new, I obtained SoundBlaster drivers specifically for x64 from April 06. But these were terrible. In many games (f.e. FEAR) the sound was terribly distorted after a while with unbearable loud mechanic buzzing. I had a serious issue in Oblivion as it was rebooting my computer when I was loading a game and it took me a while until I realized that the x64 drivers are causing it. I got rid of them and installed reference drivers I bought on CD with the card and everything was fine. Now Bioshock came out. Overall the EAX works good in it, but I have some serious crackling. I tried to lower the sound channels/streams values in INI, but it didn't remove crackling. So I though I would update drivers again. Indeed, Creative has released unified drivers for XP and Vista last July. I installed them, launched Bioshock with EAX ON, loaded a game and ... AARGH, my ears! The sound was like zapping loudly and rapidly, a real acoustic horror. This means I have serious EAX issues with all newer drivers than the reference ones on CD, but even with the new ones I have crackling in Bioshock anyway, with addition of the audio distortion. I have tried to turn off EAX and use CMMS3D instead, with Reverb which doesn't seem to cause any problems in BS. The sound was deep and rich, except that the crackling and stuttering is still there!?No flawless sound for me. Is my Soundblaster physically borked or something... =(?

Well, I know that with SE, EAX processing is left for the CPU. You think this would be the source of problem?
I have no option to select from software or hardware mode in games' audio menu, devs normally don't do add that option to audio menus (at least I never seen it in any game yet). In games I can normally only select whether I want EAX or not, or just like in case of BioShock, whether I want to turn Reverb on or off, and it would be left for the drivers to call the CPU to process EAX.Message Edited by RogueKeeper on 0-6-200707:5 AM

  • Audigy 2 ZS Distortion Issues With Vista - See if this solution works for you guys

First of All Creative - It's sad, really sad that you really haven't supported your customers. As such a big maker of excellent products, I'm disappointed to know that you have barely provided driver support to your customers. I've been buying Creative products since 1997 - Also - I purposely upgraded my sound card on my Hp Media Center to an Audigy 2 ZS. Secondly - I formatted my computer and re-installed Vista. Before that, the sound card i.e. the sound worked fine (after a lot of trial and errors with different drivers, i somehow managed to get it working without Snap, Crackle and Pop Issues. In other words, I experienced distorted playback when I first installed Vista. Now that I re-installed Vista - Everything installed but as usual - only issue: Yup, you guessed it right.
Creative Audigy 2 ZS Infamous Snap Crackle Pop (SCP) I did try k_daniels drivers and even though I applaud for his efforts - unfortunately it didn't work for me but i'm sure they would if you did the following - ) Uninstall all Creative Drivers Using Driver Sweep2) Do not install the driver through Windows Update (did not work for me)3) Install latest drivers from Creative or K_Daniel's Package4) Install Vista Codec Pack5) Install DirectX06) Then do the following: Got this sorted. Hope it works for everyone..found the answer searching Google.
Right click VOLUME icon in taskbar
    Click PLAYBACK DEVICES
    Right click SPEAKERS
Click PROPERTIESClick ADVANCED Make sure there's no tick marks in any of the options there including ENHANCEMENTS.
This should sort it. [After doing all this, I have no sound issues whatsoever - Crystal Clear Audio Quality but still not better then XP] I am planning to try K_Daniels pack with all the extra applications and I'll post later on in regards to my experience with the pack. Good Luck P.S: Hope this helps somebody because doing all that helped me get back the audio clarity I was looking for without any distortion whatsoever.

    Hi xmins
Im not using a decoder, only an amplifier alone with two speakers ... My cable is plugged in line out , and then plugged on line in of the amplifier.
The distortion is very audible, in HL 2, Battlefield 2, etc
When got a explosion, a shot from shotgun, missile, the sound comes distorted ...
    Any more hints?

  • Select Recording Source issue on Audigy 2

I unistalled and installed the program and can't get it to work. I have the Audigy 2 ZS plat. with the software and all. Problem I have when I open up the Organizer MediaSource Player everything works but the "select recording source" button or selection doesn't work. It's kind of blanked out as if I don't have that option at all. But when I go to the mixer I can here the line inputs but I can't record from it b/c I can't select it. If anyone has this issues let me know or how to solve it. I have windows XP and also my Audio Stream recorder doesn't work either.

Ok I got it to work. This is the reply I got from Creative but I didn't remove the program from the add/remove option on the PC b/c that didn't work at first. I inserted the installation CD and remove it from that wizard. Rebooted and the PC found new hardware. I then installed the driver and software from the CD and now it works.
For Mediasource. It appears something was corrupted in Mediasource or there is a conflict within the system. Please uninstall all software and drivers for the soundcard, from add/remove programs. Once this is done, shut down the system and changePCI slots for the soundcard, then turn the system back on, cancel the found new hardware wizard, disable all background applications (especially virus scanner, firewall, and any other background applications running in the bottom right hand corner of the system), andthen perform a full reinstallation of the drivers and software from the soundcard installation cd.
CAT I hope you fix your sound card. Good luck.

  • Audigy SE Issues -- Startup probl

Hey all - I just recently built a new system and carried over my Audigy SE from my last build to this one. Now, don't know if its a combination of all the new equipment, or the Audigy SE card itself, but for the last two days, I'd been running into problems launching both Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter ( and 2) and Gears of War. Just today, I got it in my head: "Why don't I try disabling the darn thing.... " Disabled it through system tools, and voila --- both GRAW and GoW launched w/out a hitch. But... no sound! =( Creative, my advice: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE update the Vista 32 and 64 bit drivers. I can't say for certain that your company is to fault here, but disabling your device has gotten my foot in the door by at least launching these games. Unfortunately, I'm just going to have to resort to on-board audio given the lack of attention to this matter... Other Gamers: I don't know 'bout you, but I was really lookin forward to GoW -- now that I've gotten it workin, you might wanna try disabling any Creative audio equipment you've got on the inside and see if this resolves your issue... If anyone else out there has the same system specs... here they are: - E6750 2.66 Core 2 Duo- Asus MB P5K-E- EVGA 8600 GTS- Corsair XMS 2 gig Ok... I've made my peace.. off to play games now!

Yes, you need ASIO driver ... but as the integrated nor Audigy SE has nati've support foe ASIO ... you need to use Asio4All but ... does the Sibelius software support ASIO? If it does then when you install the Asio4All driver, open it's control panel and set the ASIO Buffer Size (slider) as left as possible (you start hear crackling / distortion in audio when buffer is set too small).
If I were you, I would simple forget the Soundblaster brand and get a pro-card. Low budger cards like E-MU 0404, 22M from Creative brand are much better than any SB model and there are brands like M-Audio, ESI, RME, Lynx, etc. ... depending on the type of interface you prefer most (PCI/PCIe. • Audigy NX 2 sound issue (paus

I have recently purchased an Audigy NX 2 to connect with my Yamaha home cinema amp, I have it set to pass everything through the optical SPDIF for processing by my Yamaha.
The issue I have is that with the SPDIF output sampling rate at 48kHz there are frequent pauses in sound, if I change the output sampling rate to 44.kHz these pauses lessen but are still there.
Has anyone else experience issues like this? I have installed the latest drivers but with no difference. Is it an issue with me not using a USB2 connection and there is simply not the bandwidth to pass the signal along?
    Any help appreciated.

    Yunior,
I think that you are saying that sound is speeded up when you watch movies. If that is so, is there a time scaling option (such as in EAX Console or MediaSource organizer) in the software you use for this? And what software are you using for watching movies? Also, if you have not already, try disabling your onboard soundcard in BIOS.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor - Issues/Updates Comi

I purchased my Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor in December with every intention that it was going to work with Vista. I was really upset when no driver was available at the Vista Launch, but finally a "Beta" driver was released which restored?some functionality. There are many issues however:
When the initial support plan for Vista was posted there was NO MENTION of no video capability being removed from the driver. Only recently this was added to the FAQ. I find this highly decepti've. This is advertised as a expensi've superior external video encoder - make it work as advertised!!!
    <
There is currently no official support for hardware accellerated 5. audio and THX decoding. When will this be coming?
    <
There is currently no support for connecting and disconnnecting headphones from the external box. Audio will switch to the headphones when connected, but when the headphones are removed you have to go manually into windows and change the settings back - a royal pain!!!
    <
Digital Output and Inputs are not working.
    <
Volume control adjustments, including muting on the external box is not working.
    <
Remote control functions are not working to control media players.
    <
You basicallly can get audio out and that's it. Come on Creative Creative... this is close to a $400 paperweight!

The Video part actually IS working, just check this link
    http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=video&message.id=800
Using the WinXP drivers does work -don't ask me why creative doesn't simply rewrap the working (!) drivers with a Vista installation routine...Message Edited by Daedalus3 on 04-03-20072:3 AM

  • Audigy 2 ZS issues, prof help plea

Hello everyone... I've have the Audigy 2 ZS Plat for over a year now. It's a awesome card, except for the last year it's always made hissing, crackling, digital noises when i play games, or even music. I've narrowed it down.. It ONLY happens when I'm pressing a key. Yes, bizzare I know. I've tried mulitple keyboards.. i just cant figure it out so I thought maybe some of you fine folks could help me! So far, i've all kind sof drivers and hardware config's cant think of anything, Someone please help!!! -Thanks!!

    hi all
I am also having a similar issue, and also noticed it when playing BF2. My PC and audio have been sweet since I built it over xmas, but last night I started gettting crackles, and static here and there, and the sound of my gun in BF2 stopped working, all other sounds were fine, but these hisses and crackles etc got progresi'velly worse, and I thought I could even hear some of the audio clips you here when going through the software setups etc for the sound card. I close down BF2 and the noises remain.
I thought it might be my drivers so I uninstalled and installed the card again with the latest drivers (newer than what I had), still have the problem. Game starts up, all is OK and slowly the sound creep in untill unplayable.
I thought it might be the game, so I tried other things like itunes, and that did the same, tried team speak with a friend, and the same.
I'm finding it hard to search for this problem on the internet as people discribe the problem/noise differently so doesnt come up in the many searches I have done.
I have USB keyboard mouse, asus A8N deluxe with onboard audio disabled, winxp pro sp2, 7800gt video card, everything is up to date.
if anyone finds a solution etc, please let me know, or post here.
