Audigy 2 Notebook - Vi

I recently installed Vista Business on a clean partition. I have an Audigy 2 Notebook in the system. When I installed the latest drivers, I got a blue screen during the install process and after a memory dump the machine rebooted. Any suggestions?Other specs:?Sager Notebook on a Clevo chassisP4 3.4Ghz HT2 Gig ramVista installed on a 30G partitionGeforce 7800 GTX GOAudigy 2 Notebook

Hi guys,
i had this problem too until now. It seems, there is no problem in Vista or Creative, the problem is in PCMCIA chipset or its driver, which cause probably this problem. I have a HP nx9420 laptop and HP released an update for my PCMCIA (in release notes, there is especially written about BSOD) and now, installation goes very well, howewer, i did not find a way, how to play an audio through Audigy 2 ZS on internal notebook speaker. Anybody can help me ?Message Edited by ikoala on 03-6-20070:50 PM

  • No Sound on Right Channel - Audigy Notebook Z

    Hey.
One day, after nearly a year of perfect use and harmony, my lovely audigy notebook ZS stopped giving me sound on the right channel. I tried changing all of the settings and updating the drivers, but to no avail.
I then uninstalled the drivers completely, cleaned them with driver cleaner pro, then attempted to reinstall them by downloading them off of creative's support page.
However now the drivers will not reinstall.
    Please advise.
    Thank you.

I believe your friend can get it replaced, yes. All he needs is the iPod. If you'd like, you can also send it in: http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Notebook Help Optica

Hi there,?I want to connect two computers to a system and right now im just using analog on one system and a cable from the line out of my computer to the line in of my speakers. I've been trying to find out what I will need to connect the speakers to the laptop? Its the logitech 5500 it supports optical and coax, so do I need an adapter for it to connect into my laptop or do I just buy any type of optical cable? My other computer has a Sound Blaster Audigy , so I was wondering if i could use coax or optical on any of the cards. Thanks a lot!?Andy

To connect the Audigy you need a coaxial cable, and?a mono 3.5mm miniplug to RCA jack adapter, connected to the digital out jack in the card. To conect the Audigy Notebook you need an optical toslink to optical miniplug cable or a toslink cable with a toslink to miniplug adapter connected to the shared headphone/spdif out in the pcmcia card. Please note that connecting via spdif you will have only stereo sound unless you pass through bitstream from DVDs.

I have been a Creative user ever since I've been using computers.

On your website I found a Creative sound blaster X-Fi sound card which fit my needs perfectly. I called Creatives support number and the lady that answered informed me that they did not have any in stock at the Creative center,,,,she refered me to the Dell website for purchase. I indeed ordered the th blaster X-Fi. When the sound card arri'ved I was very excited. I plugged in the card and nothing ! I was informed buy your Tech support person that I needed an Audigy 2 zs notebook card for my laptop,,,well Creative of course didn't stock or have that card so I have searched High and low on the internet for this card with no avail. Today ( 6 nov 07 ) I am forced to order a **competitor** sound card which will fit my laptop. I am very upset and disillusioned with Creative at this point. I am sure my email will most likely go un-noticed as does most emails or letters to manufacturer's complaining about there products or service. It looks like when I return to Iraq I will have to promote the **competitor product** sound card as the card to use. First, please refrain from mentioning/discussing competitor products on this forum, as it is against the rules.
Next, you are correct that the X-fi Xtreme Notebook will not work in any notebook. As it states in the System Requirements, it requires a ExpressCard slot to function. The Audigy notebook card requires an older PCMCIA slot, which is what your laptop has. I'm sorry the Xfi card didn't suit your needs, but you will have to have the newer, faster slot in order to use it as it states in the requirements.

  • [Newbie] Line O

    Folks,
I'm looking for a way to connect my dad's new laptop to an external audio system.
Previously he had a desktop PC with a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz card. I managed to connect it to his audio system using a simple adaptor cable. Note that I had to use the Line Out jack; the speaker jacks did not work for this purpose.
Bottom line: Does the Audigy Notebook have Line Out? If not, what other options do I have?
    Thanks in advance!

    Jshekhel,
It has an /8'' headphone out which can also be used with a line out. It also comes with a 7. audio dongle that has a front out line out that can be converted like this also. All of our cards use unpowered line outs for our speaker connections so there should be no problem like there was with the other card (which probably had an onboard amplifier).

  • Distorted sound at high vol

This usually only occurs while playing games. If my system volume is set at max, the sound either cuts out or is distorted. Keeping the system volume around medium (and using speaker volume) works well enough that this is not really a big deal. But I would still like to know if this is normal. I have an Audigy notebook card with latest drivers.

I highly doubt the speakers are the source of your problem... I would blame either the sound card or the game. The game might have it's volume turned to max, and that might be distorting the signal. Or it could be with the card, with it being turned up. It could also be that you're hearing the infamous "snap crackle pop" which can sometimes sound like distortion. That's not really distortion at all, just the card being retarded. I'm not sure of any fix for that as of yet.
distortions happens when the signal exceeds the signal to noise ratio of what it's being sent through. If the signal has a dB range of 00 Db, and the sound card (for instance)has a signal to noise ratio of only 85 dB, then you'll get distortion. This means that the sound waves are literally being cut off at their peaks...so they somewhat resemble square waves. Distortion can occur at low volumes, too. For example, if you could indefinitely turn up your system volume, and kept your speaker volume very low, you would have distortion, but the sound still wouldn't be loud. You would be distorting the sound at the sound card, and that sound is then passed on to whatever device is next int he chain.
SO in short, find what's distorting, if something is indeed distorting.

  • Connecting PCMCIA Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook to Onkyo HT-S580 Recei

    Hi
I have PCMCIA Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook audio card with my Thinkpad laptop.
I have bought Onkyo HT- S580 Hometheater system. I was hoping to connect the Line out, Line out2, Line out3 jacks to the receiver's Front, Surround(rear) and Center in jacks.
The color on the Onkyo Recei'ver end are Center - Green , Surround(rear) - Blue , Front - White
The color on the Creative Card end are Center- Orange , rear - Black , Front - Green
There is color difference between these two ends . Is it advisable to connect these two jacks ?
Please recommend the suitable cable type and name for this connection
    Thanks

    Hi
Colours may vary --> just connect by the instructions from both manuals.
    There are good explanations for
    - Stereo and 4-Pole Jack Diagrams
    - Connecting a multichannel home theater receiver
    - cabletypes needed on connections
    on User's Guide.
NOTE: This User's Guide can be found on your driver CD too.
Also, here is the Onkyo HT-S580 manual.

  • Audigy 2 Z2 Notebook PCMCIA Card cannot install Creative Mediasource 5

. Every time I try and install CMS5 on the Audigy 2 Z2 Notebook PCMCIA Card, I keep getting this ERROR:
[color="#ff0000"]DoInstall Fails to Launch C:\Windows\CRF002\CTXInst\Setup.inx DoInstall return error code is - 2472332
here is the file name of the install: CMS5-BRNR_PCAPP_LB_5_0_44.exe
I have re-installed, all creative drivers, I even clean installed them, and i still get this error, any ideas?
EDIT: I fixed the problem, you have to install the older CMS5 before the latest new driver will work............well duh!

Thank you for the reply split0,
as for the informati've post, thank you for the compliment, i tend to not open a thread at all unless i have spent enough time on the problem and searched around enough for solutions, and after that i only post if it has enough info regarding everything in inside the thread.
In regard to the known incompatibility list, unfortunatly this is one of the things i checked beforehand already.
The PCMCIA adapter in my laptop is a Texas Instruments PCI-8x2/7x2/6x2 CardBus-controller.
Which is one of the most common controllers and should normally not cause any troubles at all, also in another thread on this forum i found a differant driver for it, i even tried that with no result sadly.
At the moment personally i am thinking the whole problem lies within not being able to uninstall the onboard sound card to full extent somehow, and while i posted here i also have all this info in a direct message sent to creative, and even acer for that matter.
In hopes of some kind of solution for this so i can keep my hopes up for not having to return the card itself.
What bugs me is that there is option at all to disable the onboard sound through the bios.
Because right now whenever i install the ZS notebook card it checks hardware for the onboard first installing it again, then setting priority for the zs notebook.
This is what seems to result in the crashes through a conflict in drivers in my idea, but thats just a hunch which i cant do anything about currently in regard to testing unless someone has an idea for me to try.

  • SB Audigy 2 Notebook Recording "Error Encounter

Hi, I've had a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Notebook card for several weeks, and while it's generally working quite well, I've encountered the same error the last several weeks with after a scheduled recording from a line-in source:
After exactly hour, 55 minutes, and 44 seconds, the recording stops with a message that an error was encountered. In each case, the file format was .wav files, 48000 Hz, 24-bit Stereo; the file sizes, as reported in Windows Explorer, were ,953,4 KB.
Is there perhaps a file size limitation? If so, what thoughts/recommedations would folks have on the settings for loss-less recording of quality (such as it is) FM Stereo off-the air? Generally, I'd like to get 3 /2 - 4 /2 hour recordings.
    Thanks in advance.
    Doug

    Jallenwebb,
If you are using the Mic/Line in 2 on the platinum dri've you will want to set the volume control on it to microphone (turn the volume up to where you want it...all the way down till it clicks sets it to line in mode) as in line in mode it records in stereo mode (both channels are recorded and since most mics are mono then you end up with only one channel) but in Microphone mode it records it as a mono input that is panned to center so it plays back in both channels.

When using either the cd it came with or the updated driver install from creative.com about half way through the install my computer crashes. My computer detects the sound card. Ive also tried using the driver update feature and when it starts about 3/4 the way installing from the cd it stops and asks for the directory to the file ha20x2k.sys to continue. Well i've searched the entire cd and only found one file that resembles it and its labeled ha0k2k.sys I dunno what the deal is with that. Im using an Averatec 3300 series notebook running Windows XP pro SP2. Ive searched up and down for some kind of information that can help me but nothing so if anyone has some input that might be of some help it would be greatly appreciated

  • Audigy 2zs notebook - Can hear but NOT record effect of Graphic Equalizer

    Dear people,
Audigy 2zs notebook card, using with sonar-le to record (and also with Audacity).
I can record all I play with my soft synths, and mic voice, perfectly. Various tracks simultneously.
    Playback is also great.
I use sonar-le in Asio 2-Mode, and MME and all works good.
HOWEVER, I bring up the Creative equalizer, and I enable it, it makes a NOTORIOUS difference.. I can enable it while I am recording, before, or after.
So I record a track as usual, but I enable the equalizer, and I am FINDING-OUT that I can not seem to be able to RECORD the effect of the creative EQUALIZER!
Even though I can hear it in and out, big difference, the track recorded wave continues to record as if it does not see the equalizer at all.
I have tried all available inputs and many many things, but I just can not get the eq. effects to RECORD.
I have two speakers connected to the dongle that attaches to the notebook card... I have also tried using headphones, directly connected to card, and all I can think. I tried also mme mode.
I also tried audacity and same. Can't get the recording to be like what I hear with the headphones.
Why would this be? How can I solve the problem?
    Thanks a lot!

Whoops!? That sequencer/recording application "Cubasis VST 4" comes packaged with Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro but not with the Notebook soundcard. A similar product Cubasis LE comes with X-Fi Elite Pro.
I haven't seen any details of the internal layout/architecture of the sound card, but I don't think that would help you in terms of some new configurations for recording.
In terms of recording capability, since there is only one input port with the NOtebook card, you are of course fairly limited in terms of connectivity, unless you have an external mixer (if you are talking about recording two things at the same time).
However, the audio quality of the Notebook card is certainly good enough to record very good quality audio with S/N, THD etc. My opinion is that people spend way too much time fussing about specs, noise etc. where in reality, most external transducers (mics, guitars etc.) always limit the recorded quality (unless you have really good professional recording gear and you have a lot of experience.
I've heard outstanding quality recorded music made on recording gear with much poorer specs than the Notebook card.
Best thing with your Notebook card is do what you've been doing. Use it and experiment and concentrate on the music generation itself.
    Thanks for the reply!
I gather that the application may not be downloadable, specially if it is third-party. I do have the Synth effect, though that I can plug into Sonar.. I like the hardware enabled effects, though, specially since my music playing/recording system is a little complex.
Yes, I do have external hardware mixers, and though there is only the mic/line input, that's not too bad since this card has MANY internal inputs and outputs that I DO USE. All? of my instruments and music is now software based..Only the Mic is external. That's why the hardware synth of the 2zs laptop is so attracti've.. It does not bear on cpu or data... That's why I asked about architecture info orient myself.
Also, I may be wrong, but I read that many of the hardware capabilities of the 2zs notebook card are no longer there on the newer cards... That effects and other things are now mostly software based? Is that so?...Can I use two cards on the laptop, the 2 zs and the express slot one simultneously and have more inputs/outputs?
I am still interested in all practical possibilities, and I do like the Creative soundcards.
The great thig is that you told me that the Eq can not be recorded, so that's very important to me.. I can still record it, though out into a second laptop via the headphone jack. But I will try the VST's I have here first and see how they feel and sound.
It really amazes me, though, that I can hear the effect, but there's no way to record it.
Maybe a new driver could do it's
    Thanks and best wishes!

  • Audigy 2 ZS Notebook doesn't have enough resoucres in vi

Ok, I have an audigy 2 zs pcmcia and vista 32-bit, and the sound card can't get enough resources (Code 2 in device mgr). I also know that others on this forum concluded that the problem has nothing to do with creative or the vista drivers, but the problem is due to the computer's cardbus/pcmcia adapter.
However, my adapter is a "Texas Instruments PCI 7x20/6x20" and its driver is up-to-date, according to Windows Update, and my manufacturer (they do not have an update on the support page for my notebook , Sony VGN-FJ70).
So this is a final call to anyone. How does Vista handle system resources differently than XP? Or is there a registry edit that will make the cardbus give the sound card resources. Or does somebody know anything about the TI cardbus driver, or know of a older driver that will work (and where to find it, b/c I've already looked).
BTW, I can't change anything in BIOS because sony has dumbed it down like I've never seen in any computer ever. I can pretty much change the clock and boot order, that's about it.

I tried uninstalling, reinstalling drivers, wiggling the card, jumping on my desk, etc. No luck.
Win XP Pro (latest service packs) , Dell Inspiron 8600...
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks!

  • Audigy 2 ZS Notebook and a stupid, stupid frie

A couple of days ago a friend of mine decided to press the PCMCIA card eject button. I told him not to do this, but he's an idiot. So he presses it, and the card pops out. After this, my laptop freezes, and I have to do a "hard" shutdown. I boot it back up, and now the speakers no longer work with the Audigy. If I shut the computer down then start it up without the card in a PCMCIA slot, the speakers work fine, except with the less-than-stellar sound quality. When I use the HPJ (Headphone jack) in the card, the headphones work fine. Now, this isn't any great inconvenience for me, but I would like to resolve it, because I don't enjoy having to use my headphones when I want to listen my music. And not using the card with my speakers isn't an option. It sounds like crap without it.
    Any help it greatly appreciated.

OK, thank you for the information. More than likely something has gone wrong with your Windows registry. Rather than delve into that, I would suggest that you go back into Device Manager, and 'Uninstall' you 'On Board' sound card, and reboot your machine. While the notebook is off, remove the PCMCIA card, and this will force the OS to reinstall the on board sound into Device Manager and hopefully the registry as well. Once this is done, you should see a return of your on board sound card's functions and be able to hear you on board speakers.
Please note, that it may take a secondary boot prior to hearing your on board sound card kick in. Simply 'Uninstall' the on board sound (and have the 'Drivers and Applications' CD/DVD from your notebook at hand... and the OS installation disc too), reboot then when the system logs back on it should reinstall the on board sound. It may ask you for the drivers CD/DVD and the OS CD/DVD during this process. That is why I suggested that you have it there when you start. Once this is complete, you should reboot and when your system comes back up you should have sound in your notebook's speakers.
If not, leave a message. There is one instance, I can think of, where you would successfully reinstall the on board sound (and it's system registry entries) and the sound NOT come from your speakers.
