Audigy 2 NX hardware prob

My audugy shut off today and all the leds are flashing. I checked the transformer output where I have 5 volts, but after connecting to the Audigy I have only 3.3 volts, and I think is not enaugh to get it working. What could be happened?

reato,
Can you open up the power supply (might be a screw)? See if the capacitor looks damaged. If it's electrolytic, it may appear swollen or have a dark oily-like fluid on it or around the leads. If it's ceramic, it may appear burnt or cracked. Based on other posts, you may have success replacing a broken cap with one with the same specs :-) Note the polarity before you remove the broken cap, and solder in the new one in the same direction. (Disconnect from line voltage and the NX, of course, before opening and working on the power supply.) I'd still test first with another power supply if possible. You don't want to "fix" your power supply if it isn't broken.Message Edited by Katman on 02-8-200703:42 PM

  • Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Recording Prob

I recently re-installed my audigy, and for some reason I cannot get any sound when I plug my guitar into the Line-In on the front. I check the recording/playback setting, and everything seems to be ok. I'm wondering if it might be a problem with the hardware. Any thoughts?

    Dee,
If the card came supplied with the PC, then you may need to contact Dell to get specific drivers or applications for it.
Is the card working correctly now? Is it listed in Device Manager, with no error messages? What did you use to reinstall, was it a CD, or a driver? If it was just a basic driver pack, then it's likely that doesn't include any extra applications.

  • Audigy 4 hardware accelaration/buffer iss

First off let me say that I've been using the Audigy 4 for months now with no problem. I consider myself a person that has above-average computer knowledge. I have done nothing to affect the card in any way as far as I can tell.
I primarily use it for music and gaming, and while playing Call of Duty 2 I noticed it sounded different than normal. So I look around in the audio settings and find that for some reason EAX was turned off. So I go to re-enable that and it throws me a DirectX error of some kind and exited the game. This happened every time I tried to change that setting, so I finally just re-downloaded and re-installed DX 9.0c. That didn't change anything.
Then later on I noticed that under the audio settings for Halo, the "Hardware Acceleration" option was turned off and grayed out. I couldn't even get to the EAX option to try to turn it on.
Running DxDiag showed nothing out of the ordinary, except that the DIrectX acceleration level was down to "basic" rather than "full". Fixing this did nothing either, and I finally ran the DirectSound test. ALl the sounds played, but it popped up with yet another eror that told me that my card doesn't support hardware buffering, so all buffering wil be done by software.
Since then I've completely wiped all Creative software and drivers off my machine twice, and then above and beyond that, I took the card out and booted Windows once just to make sure Windows noticed it was gone. I then popped it back in and did the re-installs.
So I'm at a loss of what to do now.
I haven't recently installed any hardware or software, I've done not one but two completely clean re-installs, but a once-working card has gone from the pristine 5. EAX goodness to being a glorified normal stereo card.
I haven't tried the clean boot, but I seriously doubt it's anything of that nature.
Any ideas to get my hardware acceleration working again?

Hmmm. Had a play to try and fix my card problems and now made things much worse.
I?did the clean sweep thing in the FAQ and ended up losing all sound. The drivers could be removed but any attempt to re-install from my original disc told me that I did not have a Audigy 2 ZS installed. I then removed the card and re-seated, Windows XP found a multimedia audio controller but not Audigy 2 ZS. Again, attempts to install from original disc failed.
In desperation, deleted all files in the various creative folders and also removed all creative keys from the registry. Reseated card and tried again. Same lack of detection from XP but I was able to 'trick' the system into at least giving me centre speaker support by installing the latest downloaded driver from website. I now have basic sound in all applications but nothing from all the 'extra' speakers in my 7. set-up and the only creative product on my PC (Audio Console) won't start (tells me that I do not have an Audigy 2 ZS installed).
So now I want to know how I can download/re-install all of the various EAX/THX/Diagnostics/Calibrators/DTS controllers again and get my system back to where it was yesterday (or ideally, back to how it was 2 years ago when everything worked fine!).
Tried to contact tech support but the website makes it impossible. If any tech support people read this, please let me know how I actually seek support!?!
Is very frustrating having to watch/play 7. games in 2.0 when I have all the extra speakers.......

  • Audigy Gamer hardware accelerated or not??

    Hi there friends!!
hey! My first post here and asking for some help My english is quite bad so I will try my best. I just bought a Sound Blaster "Audigy () Gamer" used to a friend for replace the onboard Soundmax AC97 of my ASUS A7V8X-X mobo. I disable that one on BIOS and I installed the Audigy Gamer with the latest drivers (Sound Blaster Audigy, Audigy 2 series and Audigy 4 series Driver 02.09.006) all went fine. I test the sound with DXDIAG and all test went fine BUT here my question, the hardware acceleration is working fine? I ask this because in ONE part of the DX 9.0c settings table it says "software" and in all the others says "hardware"
please check this screen capture I take of that "problem" here :
    http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/6834/audigy2pw.jpg
(main text in spanish but is the same dxdiag that you use to see there...)
check that "Default Port Acceleration" figures "Enabled" (Aceleracion Predet. del puerto: Habilitado -in spanish-)
so... those settings are fine like that? is normal to see "software" there but the card is really using FULL hardware acceleration?
just want to make sure my card is installed and working well with all features...
I try the game "Armed Assault" and the sounds are MUCH nicer and clear with this card, I didn?t hear anymore the "popping" I use to have with the onboard card (yeah!) so that make me think that the hardware acceleration have to be running ok helping the CPU to handle better the game sounds... but that is just a thought.
thanks for any help with this doubt I have with this used, old but nice card....
    cya!

Don't worry that tab is only for DirectMusic, the hardware synths on SB cards use soundfonts and can be accessed via?standard?MIDI but even those have nothing to do with games nowadays.

  • Sound Blaster Audigy SE Driver Prob

I have a problem with Sound Blaster Audigy SE,
Im using newest from creative download site SBA_PCDRV_LB__04_006.exe drivers.
After I turn on a game like ut2004, fear combat, even dxdiag (sound test) or pause sound in music/movie player system stops reacting or process "System" uses 95-00% of my CPU.
After few tests I discovered with help of KrView (kernel view soft) that p7filt.sys uses such big ammount of cpu If in Speaker Settings, Bass Redirection and Subwoofer Gain (+5) is turned on. (5. speakers)
I installed a bit diffrent version of drivers (from cd and even later I tested SBSE7_XP_Jul2005 additional driver). But then Subwoofer Gain option isnt working at all
its written Subwoofer Gain (+0) and with sub gain +0 sound quality very poor like in AC97 audio.
Ive also checked friends sound card on my pc and also i've tested exactly same thing on other computer.
I have xp sp2 with updates, newest bios, directX, etc etc...

OK..first of all the Audigy SE lacks any form of hardware acceleration, so turning on features like bass boosting/sound post-processing etc. will take away a lot of CPU time. The file you mentioned just acts as a software real-time filter, although it should not go up to the point of bringing a 2.4 Ghz Pentium 4 to its knees.
The sound quality will be altered even with every "DSP" effect (quoted because there's no actual hardware DSP, it's just emulated in software) set to 0, as long as the "DSP is considered acti've.
That's because the sound output is first converted from the time domain to the frequency domain (in poor words, the continuous sound wave you hear is broken down in many different frequencies like in those 80s ghettoblasters spectrum analyzers) because it's easier to amplify bass/treble that way, and then converted back to time domain (in even poorer words, a continuous sound wave you can hear/record/playback).
It's obvious that doing that thing in real time has a CPU cost, and even more obvious that the procedure is lossy and the input will not be the same as the output even with no effect applied, as long as the this double conversion takes place.
If you really need bass boost, turn any sound processing on the card OFF, and use speakers which have it. Also, if the CPU usage is abnormally high, try updated or a specific older version of the drivers that has more reasonable CPU usage/doesn't have that bug.

  • Audigy 2 value prob

I have disabled onboard sound, removed the drivers then put my card into a pci slot. I installed installed all of the programs multiple times and moved pci slots but the drivers will still not work (obiously i restarted).
In device manager under sound, video game controlers it has the lovely yellow circle with the exclamation point showing that the device is not configured properly for the creative audigy audio processor (WDM).
other listed installed devices under sound/video and game controllers:
    -audio codecs
-creative audigy audio processor (WDM) with yellow circle and exclamiation point
    -legacy audio drivers
    -legacy video capture devices
    -media control devices
    -compatiable midi device
    -standard game port
    -video codec
also when i run the diagnostic everything fails besides the hardware detection.
    failed tests:
wave, midi, mixer, direct sound 3d, sound font, mixer settings
of course the 'begin fix' button doesnt work, it recommends i reinstall which does not work.
I'm using windows 2k with sp 4 and i have a asus mother board. I checked for updates but the one is not relevent to my problem. I also did not connect the sound card to my dvd dri've which I do not care to do at the moment, I just wish for my speakers to work on them. Thanks for the help.Message Edited by plainwlkr8 on 2-26-2004 02:07 AMMessage Edited by plainwlkr8 on 2-26-2004 02:2 AM

:mansad: Similar problem as plainwlkr8 including the exclamation thingy in the device manager. I also tried disabling each one one the other sound devices listed with no result - I am running xp sp2 intel 95 and 6600gt pci express video card all which has the latest drivers (as in its only two weeks old). Each time i ran the install cd it completely locked the machine up after it got thru running instalshield. The only way out was to pull the plug on it - than after it kept locking up on reboot - thankyou Mr Gates for the ablity to run last known working config and System Restore.
Pulled the card back out tried a different slot. No change. tried letting windows instal the hardware and drivers no change.
The only hint of help that I had was under device manager it was showing a code 0 which I dont seem to be able to find any meaningful info about.
Sorry plainwlkr8 i am no help just in the same predicament - Did you disable any virus and/or firewall programs?
    Help us........

  • Audigy 2 hardware damage pc doont b

y had a power problem and my power source got broken. y replaced whit a new oane all workd fine, but my pc dont boot not even in bios whit the audigy 2. y know some about hardware but y dont dont know haw to fix this. sombody know if can be repaird and haw? or the sound card is totaly damaged?

Probably broken then. Unless there is an obvious burnt or broken component on the board, repairing it doesn't seem feasible. If it is still in warranty, you might try contacting the vender or manufacturer.

  • Hardware Probe in Solaris 10

I am newbie in Solaris 10. After installing this operating system I couldn’t find out any hardware browser or hardware probing software. So I don’t know exactly which hardware did it probed or recognized.
Another problem is that how can I understand whether it recognizes my LAN card and modem?.
Would anyone please explain the whole thing?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    The minimum requirements are:
    # Minimum of 256 MB of physical RAM (or 512 MB for PXE booting)
    # Minimum of 2 GB of available hard drive space
There are more details available at:
    http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/specs.jsp
Take a look at the Hardware Compatability Link at the above link to check if the x86 system that you are using is supported, and what its individual requirements are.
    Hope this helps

  • Audigy 2 driver prob

Got this huge problem with the drivers for my audigy 2 card. Just formatted my dri've, clean WinXP install and threw in the latest drivers from this page (includes creative audio console). My problem, I get seriously crappy sound from my center speaker (really low, cant hear voices in movies), and neither can I install the surround mixer, EAX console or the Speaker setting program (which I wanna use to see if my fronter is working allright). I've had lots of trouble with the drivers before (subwoofer not sounding when I config my speakers, drivers just stopped working twice etc etc). I've run the automatic update tool here and it doesnt do me any good. Starting to piss me off, cant install the **bleep** tools, it says "Setup did not detect the required components." when I start the installer, and in that crappy "Audio Console" I cant do anything... Before when I was using Win2k (way better than xp, btw) I had this nice tool (blue window, could manage everything, surround mixer, speaker settings etc), the Audio Console just isnt ANYTHING like it. Using a set of Logitech Z-5300 if thats of any importance ... But even if its my speakers that are faulty, I should at least be able to install the tools to check! I've reinstalled the card several times, no luckMessage Edited by Wortex on 2-02-200606:48 PM

You need to install all software from Creative CD, bundled w/ your card.
If you don't have the CD, check, if BadBoy has this CD in his collection - http://badboy.filefront.com/

  • Audigy 4 mic prob

I cannot get my Sennheiser PC50 mic to work with my audigy 4 sound card in games like CS: Source. No matter what plug I put the mic into it does not work with CS. I can record things in the the EAX console if I use line-in /MIC plug and I have to turn up the volume on the mic with the knob on the right side of the I/O hub. But cannot get it work in games. Anyone know what to do? This is driving me crazy because now I have an expensi've sound card that will not let me do simple things that onboard sound will let me do without any effort.

I beli've you mean this from Steampowerd.

  • I broke my iPhone 4s screen, i gave it for repairing & before i gave it for repairing my wifi was working totally fine & now all of sudden my iPhone cant detect any wifi, it would only detect if iPhone is placed beside router! Is it hardware prob?

If yes than the repairer wont take  the responsibility & is denying that it is hardware problem! what should i do?

Pursue the matter with whoever repaired your iPhone. When you had
an unauthorized service open your iPhone, you voided your warranty.
Most likely the repair knocked something else loose in the iPhone or otherwise
    damaged the hardware.

Did it come with another computer or you bought it pre-owned from someone else's branded PC?

  • Is there a difference between Audigy 2 hardware decoding and DVD/MPEG-2 software decodi

I have a capture card and run my PC as a part time HTPC. The audio and video is analog captured and MPEG-2 encoded by the card.
I have the Nvidia DVD/MPEG-2 decoder set to SPDIF(reciever) so it sends the audio stream directly to the Audigy 2.
When playing any of these recorded shows, the only way I get any surround sound on my 5. speakers is to have CMSS () turned on, and it's ok (but not as good as true DVD quality 5.).
What I am wondering, would there be any difference if I upgraded the Nvidia codec to the platinum version, which does software 5. decoding? Would it do a better job of decoding any Dolby Surround material?

  • Audigy 4 / Network Prob

I am running a Tyan Thunder K8WE mother board and have 2 7900GTX running in SLI, so they cover the only standard PCI slot so i cant use that (the fans take up a slot to themselves).
My only other options are the PCI-X slots (not PCI-E as thats where the 7900s are) at the bottom of the board. When i plug the card into either of these my oboard network stops working. As soon as i take the card out, my network starts again. I am running Windows XP 64 so i cant change any IRQ settings untill i turn off ACPI, but i have been told if i turn off ACPI, i cant run dual CPUs. Ive gone through these forums, Nvidia's forums (as the board uses nvida dri'ves for the network) Tyans forums and as yet i havent found a solution.
I have changed the bios to only have on what i need and there isnt an old driver issues as i refortmatted and reinstalled after disabling the sound in the bios so the old sound hasnt been installed.
I have read similar posts on these forums about the cards disabling onboard networks, but none have any solutions so i thaught id try.
If i have been missinformed and can run dual CPUs with turning ACPI off, then that means i can change the IRQs and see if thats the problem.
Any help / suggestions are welcome as i've spent a while on this so far trying to get it to work, if it takes too much longer im goin to take it back
