Audigy 2 NX quest

So I have a solution to the problem but I wanted to check to see what everyone thought before I went out and spent money on a replacement part.
A day or two ago my Audigy 2 NX (external sound card) just stoped getting power (it seems). All the lights went blank but occasionally they will blink for a few sequences then go blank again. The strange thing is that the red internal lead behind the optical out/in is on...just nothing else seems to be getting power.
Things I have tried:
I uninstalled everything and tried reinstalling but it does not recognize the NX (perhaps because it has no power?)
I switched USB ports to see if that was the problem.
I plugged the NX directly into the wall (thinking the surge protector might have a bad plug).
After all this did not fix the problem, the only thing I thought made sense was that it was the power adapter that had just gone out. The adapter itself seemed overly hot and was making more internal noise than I thought was normal but that does not nessisarily prove anything. There is a replacement part but, again, I am only running of surface logic so I thought I would post here to get a second opinion before I spent any money on something that may, in fact, not even be the problem.
Thanks for any assistance you can give me.

Ok so I found some posts that seem to have the same problem but no solution so I will keep checking this post to see if anyone tried the replacement cable or found something else that worked.

  • Audigy Se quest

I just bought a Audigy SE card last night just a cheap one..but anyways i was trying to get my headset to work with it. i mean i can but i have to unplug the speakers in line one and plug the headset in. is there an easier way of doing this. i just use the headset for gaming purposes only. i've never had a sound card before just onboard :\. i've tried messing with everything but im not sure if im doing it wrong or what?

The guy with USB "headsets" is using 2 soundcards - one is the Creative one with the speakers and the second is the USB headset - when you use that device you are using another soundcard completly. Like you would have the headsets connected in the on-board soundcard. It is stupid...
I am using the stereo jack divider and have plugged all time the speakers and haedphones. When I use headphones only, I turn off the speakers. When the speakers are on, the headphones are sitting next to my monitor and I cannot hear them over the speakers. What is so complicated?
Anyway for the hardheaded ones you can set in Creative software (or windows) a 4/4. speaker system and on EAX console, CMSS3D, choose "Stereo Surround" - it will play the same sound in both pairs of speakers.

  • Audigy SE Questi

I apologize if most of these questions have already been discussed, there is so much on his board it is hard to follow. I just upgraded to Vista, being completely unaware that Creative did not have properly working drivers. I previously was using a Li've! 5. but after the installation the sound was AWFUL. My surround speakers were worthless, etc etc. Popped over to these boards and discovered they were not even making drivers for the Li've! series. So I run out to Best Buy and grab an Audigy SE. I don't need "superb" sound, I just want my speakers to work.
So now I have an Audigy SE and the drivers from Dec. installed. 5. shows up in the Sound test under the Control Panel, I can test the speakers but thats about it. Nothing that should be playing in 5. is. I read something about the 5. in Vista being totally dependent on software? So I'm gathering the drivers aren't up to snuff yet.
So anyway, after all this random babbling.. I see that some people are having success with the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy Series Vista Beta Driver 2.2.000 playing surround sound in games. (Thats my biggest concern) Well the Audigy SE is not installing with these drivers. Is the SE not considered part of the Audigy series? If it is not has anyone posted an ETA on when they might expect drivers to be out? I don't want to format my driver, reinstall XP and go through the hassle of reconfiguration only to see a working driver out in a few days. I would generally not purchase an SE but all the local retailers only had the SE and or the $00 X-FI card. Thanks for taking the time to answer!!

Since i have the same card as you do go and download the latest driver as of Feb 6th here is the link:?http://us.creative.com/support/downl...ype=0&x=38&y=3
you well noticed with your speakers that the sound is quite different actually, when you play movies at this point the main voice well come out of a different speaker then what it did in XP.Game playing with any of the Creative labs cards well sound like they are in stereo but don't worry they are working on it along with Micorosoft and yes Audgiy SE is going to have offical drivers as of April - June of this year so don't panic ok?To test and configure the speakers click on control panel and if you have it in classic mode click on sound -> then right click on it and click on speakers and there you can select 5. and test it..
It does work trust me since i have the same card. But first click on that link I provided for you to download the latest drivers for the SE.

  • Audigy Value questi

I'm thinking of purchasing an Audigy Value card, but I'm concerned about the driver support.
Are the drivers on the disk the only drivers you can use? Are there newer drivers (2005.. ) that can be used?
And does it support EAX 2.0 ?
I've reached the point where my onboard audio just isn't good enough, only the Audigy Value and SB! Li've 24-bit are in my price range, what should I be looking for?
As I am in Australia I cannot use such sites as NewEgg and my selection is limited.

Unfortunately I'm talking about the '...Sound Blaster Audigy Value .. 7.' not the Audigy2 Value
Link to the creative page :http://asia.creative.com/products/pr...duct=489&nav=0There's no useful information and it's pretty much blank. The specifications page tells me nothing. The 2005 beta drivers don't say it supports the 'Audigy Value' card.

  • Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 4 Quest

?Hi, I was thinking of purchasing "Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 4" but I wanted to know some thing about it... If I were to purchase it.. do I really need Service Pack 2 for Windows XP Professional Version 2002?

Regards, since salio the new drivers eh treated of installing it without success since it gives mistake, I imagine that I have to desintalar " SB Audigy Series Support Pack 5.0 (05/01/2014) " and to do everything from zero? But I want to know if new drivers improves the sound these or those of the packaging are better?

  • Audigy 2 quest

Hello,?one simple question:?Do I get 5. sound with my Audigy 2 using the Audigy series Beta drivers in Vista 32-Bit ?I have read that the Beta drivers doesn't support decoding Dolby Digital and DTS, but the pure Audigy 2 has no hardware decoder and my DVD player software does this job very well (Nero ShowTime 2 has a built-in DolbyDigital 5. / 6. decoder). Also I thought that the EAX effects and multichannel sound?with normal Audigy 2 NON-ZS are done in software anyway!
So there shouldn't be any limitation with the Beta drivers for Audigy 2 users, right?Message Edited by mh000 on 02-04-200709:00 AM

I have a similiar problem with my SB Audigy 2ZS card. (EAX, SVM, CrossFADE) options are grayed out from the PLAY menu in the Organizer view, and EAX, SVM , CrossFADE options don't show up on the player view.
I had this issue back in Sept of 2005 when I still had email support with Creative.... here's what they
    suggested:
"Thank you for contacting Creative Technical Support.May I know if you have removed the original Mediasource in the system before installing the Mediasourcve 3.30.2?I would like you to uninstall the Mediasource 3.30.2 by following the instructions at http://us.creative.com/support/kb/ar...sp?l=3&sid=785After installing the Mediasource from the installation, update the Mediasource 3.30.2 and see if you are able to see the EAX, SVM and crossfading buttons on the Mediasource Player/Organizer."
You may also find more info under SID 72 on www.creative.com/support
But you have to completely uninstall all your creative software and drivers and start over...
I'm a newbie and the instructions seemed too vague for me to follow....
Thats just too much trouble to go thru for me....
I chose to li've with the problem instead of risking worse issues.
I only use a 2. analog speaker setup anyway...
I do like to record the 2 ch dolby digital from dvd concert videos from the SPDIF output of my consumer pioneer player to the external hub input... (dub this to 2 chan wav and make CD's for use in my
car...(thats about as far as I've gotten with it)
let me know how it goes with your issue... (who knows, If you have good results, maybe I'll try it too)

  • Audigy 4 Quest

    Hello all!
Like we all know the Audigy 4 Pro, comes with this connector box...
I don't really understand what are the connectors for... I mean, how many line in/out you have, what are the port type? Shame I can not see a picture of this device on the back view.
Also, this box, does it allow me to add a CD-Player (an exmaple) to it and play my CD's on the CD-Player without having my computer ON?
    Thanks in advance!

    Your connectors:
[*]Headphone Out (/4" Stereo Jack) [*]Line In (/4" Stereo Jack , shared with Mic In with Gain Control) [*]Line In 2 (/4" Stereo Jack) [*]Line In 3 (2x RCA Jack) [*]Optical SPDIF In/Out [*]Coaxial SPDIF In/Out [*]Digital Out for 5. support (6-channel SPDIF Output to Creative digital speakers) [*]2x FireWire? (IEEE? 394) ports [*]MIDI In / Out [*]Infra-red Recei'ver to communicate with Remote Control [*]AD_Link and AD_Link 2 connectors to connect with Audigy 4 Pro </LI>
Yes you can attach just about any audio device to the Audigy.
Your PC is a bit like your car, it needs the engine turned on.

  • Case front panel and Audigy 2 questi

Hey guys, this might be a stupid question, and I promise you, I did search the forums for this particular problem but didnt find anything.
I'm building a computer for a friend and the case is a: JPAC 4 Black Black Computer Case With Side Panel Window. In its front panel is a Line out and Mic out. He has bought a regular Audigy 2 card for sound. I tried looking in the manual as to whether or not I should hook up the front panel on the sound card or onto the motherboard. My hunch right now is to hook it up to the mobo.
There's also one thing that stumps me, in the Audigy 2 manual there is a set of pins on the top left side of the card that is completely ignored in the manual. It never explains what it's purpose is. I was thinking that I would hook up the front panel on there instead of on the mobo but now i'm not so sure.
Hey guys, I appreciate any input you have on this subject, I'm sure its a pretty short answer.
To list the specs, its a Asus A8N5 mobo, socket 939 with the aforementioned case. Thanks in advance for any help.
    Mark

Ok, what if I have a regular Audigy 2 soundcard, but DO NOT have the J header on my card? Is there any way to still do this? I have searched around these forums, as well as a few other forums as well and have not been able to find the answer for this.
Am I just out of luck, or is there something I can do? I'l try to get a digital pic of by soundcard for reference if needed.
    Thanks,
    Wolfsblood.

  • Audigy Platinum Ex Line In Quest

I recently re-installed my Soundblaster Audigy Platinum Ex card on a new hard dri've - it's worked properly in the past. I have run the installation cd and gone to the Soundblaster website for all the latest drivers. On my external module I am unable to get audio to input through the line-ins to (Aux in 2, Mic/Aux 2, and 394). No monitor, no capture (though the headphone jack works properly, and the standard soundcard works properly). I've checked my connections. I'm very experienced with audio software and have been unable to figure this out.
The one thing that might fix this that I am unable to find - is there a control panel setting somewhere that verifys that input should be coming through the ex Module? Any advice would be greatly appreciated....

Hi there " bucktoothmummy". I just recieved this same problem today. Tryed to solve it via software updates and messing with IRQ stuff. None of that helped. I desperately tryed every line-in port there is and suddenly I heard loud static coming from the speakers.
What I found out was that the cable (the wide one) on the backpanel has been someway corrupted, and needed only a few twitches (pull it up and down). So the problem in my case was purely the low quality of the jack OR the cable. The ports them selves are just fine.
Email me if you wish to ask some more, hope this helps

  • Audigy AUD_EXT 'line out' questi

I found the details for the pin assignments on the AUD_EXT connector for my Audigy card. Using this information I was able to connect an old SP-DIF connector (with optical & coaxial outputs) from an old motherboard to my Audigy, and I'm now using the digital output connector to put sound to my speakers.
What I'd like to do now is make up a front 3.5mm headphone jack and mount it to my case. However, the instructions here: <A href="]http://dmzweb4.europe.creative.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=72,E=0000000000084728396,K=8924,Sxi=2,Case=obj (3026),Kb=ww_english_add,VARSET=ws:http://uk.europe.creative.com[/url]
(Creative knowledge base solution ID # 3026) don't specifically list an analogue output. Pins 0, , & 3 are listed as 'general purpose output', but that could mean just about anything. If anyone has any ideas as to which, if any, of the AUD_EXT pins are suitable for left, right, and ground for a 3.5mm stereo jack please let me know.
Oh, and if there's the possibility of a stereo 'line in' as well, that would be great too.

You have A/D converter(s) on that dri've bay --> analog signal(s) is converted to digital there --> Audigy card gets signal in digital format from dri've bay.
For headphone out, there is D/A converter and opamp on dri've bay --> audigy sends signal in digital format to dri've bay and the signal is converted to analg signal there.
    From digi-life's review:
<i>"It should be noted that, unlike in the Game Theater XP from Hercules, a signal proceeds to the external Audigy Dri've unit and back only in a digital mode. And it is very good! I.e. the external module has its own separate converters! There are 2 Philips chips UDA36T which serve an ADC. The DAC is marked as stereo XWM8728 (compatible with SACD, 24bit/92kHz format) from Wolfson."</i>

  • SB Audigy 2ZS clicking quest

Before I go through the hassle of tweaking all kinds of settings in windows and scrubbing and reinstall drivers (and thereby getting progressi'vely more frustrated), I want to see if anyone else has had the same problem I am and if they found a solid solution.
I have an Intel P4 based machine with a gugabyte 8KNXP mobo. The only cards in my machine are an ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder 9800 PRO, and my Audigy 2ZS. The vid card is riding in the AGP slot, and I have moved my sound card to every PCI slot except the one next to the video card due to heat reasons.
My sound is perfectly fine whenever I am not gaming. When it does act up, I do not get the crackling I have heard posted here by other people. What I get is a very regular click/pop. It is very sudden, very short, and *very* regular. The clicks are usually about a second and a half apart. The clicking isn't always present. It will come and go. When it shows up, it usually continues until I shut the game down, although there are cases when it will just suddenly stop and everything is ok again.
I have had this problem playing online games. WoW, EQ2, EVE, GuildWars, etc... Non-network games don't give me this problem.
The obvious assumption here is that it is network related. My motherboards onboard network controller is on IRQ 8. My audigy is on IRQ 22. No conflict there.
Has anyone experienced a similar problem?

    Hello,
Thanks for the reply! In surround mixer, under source, I do see the last slide on the right is mic, but there isn't a mute option under the slide. I tried moving the slide all the way down, but that didn't help. Any other ideas? I'm desperate!!!!!!! Need communication during game!! Thanks

  • Audigy 2 zs quest

I am new to the Audigy card and would like to know how to record whatever is playing on my computer such as something from the internet.

    jellybean48,
You can use the MediaSource application to do the recording. Make sure you have set the source to 'What U Hear' option. You can also check the MediaSource FAQ at Knowledgebase. Look under Create with MediaSource.

  • Audigy 1 to Audigy 2 - Cheapskate Quest

    Hi
I currently have an Audigy Platinum system in my PC replete with the 5.25 inch front panel.
Having looked at the front panel that comes with some of the Audigy 2 cards I see little difference between them. Can I just buy an Audigy 2 card and then plug my Audigy front panel into the new card?
This will save me some ?50 if I can.
    The Dark Side

    TheDarkSide,
Unfortunately the Audigy dri've is not compatible with the Audigy 2. There were changes made to the way that the dri've communicates and this requires the updated dri've.

  • New Audigy 2 nx - probably a stupid quest

I bought an Audigy 2 nx along with a new Dell XPS laptop. I want to play games. Do I have to hook up the Audigy to external speakers, or will it work with the speakers in the laptop? I have 2 sets of external speakers, very nice ones with subwoofer, etc., that I can use, but I travel alot, and in my down time, want to play games with really good sound. I use the external speakers with my PC at home.

    Catshavestaff
You will have to use external speaker to connect to the Audigy 2 NX for sound output. The built in speaker in the laptop is connected only to the laptop onboard audio and is not able to be connected to the Audigy 2 NX for output.

  • Audigy 2 Value quest

How exactly is the audigy 2 value different from the other Audigy 2's? Does it use a different DSP? I want to know for sure if there would be any negati've impact on frame rate in games with an audigy 2 value versus the audigy 2 zs.

The FireWire port is exactly that, a FireWire port on the card. You can use FireWire to connect to DV cameras, FireWire devices like external harddri'ves, and to connect to another PC with FireWire (networking).
The Digital I/O module is an upgrade accessory that gives you more inputs/outputs. If you don't need FireWire or THX Certification, then you can use the Audigy 2 Value.
What kind of speakers will you be connecting to, and what will you be using the card for (mainly)?
