Audigy 2 plat pro Soundfont Bank Mana

Hi Everyone,
I want to increase the cache in my soundfont bank manager, I have done the normal things but I still can't load more than 2mb of cache, I have gig of memory in my system, I have pushed the slider up to 600mb in the cache adjust area but if I try to load more that the 2mb of soundfont files the manager refuses to load up.........any suggestions anyone?
thanks.
Ian.

USB Cable? The parts list in the box only indicates the External Access Box, the Card, the power converter, a digital CD connector, the AD_LINK cable and the Game connector. No USB cable.
What does the USB cable do?
So, let me ask you this.
The connector looks exactly the same as the connector on my Li've!Dri've.
My wiring harness has several of these, one was powering the Li've!Dri've on the SB Li've I'm replacing with the Audigy.
Can I use the power that was going to the Li've!Dri've and power the Audigy 2 with it's
Thanks for the helpMessage Edited by mphare on 09-04-2005 07:49 AMMessage Edited by mphare on 09-04-2005 07:50 AMMessage Edited by mphare on 09-04-2005 07:5 AM

  • Pro Sequencing Software and the Soundfont Bank Mana

Good-day. I'm hoping some one can help me with a some-what Iratating problem.
No matter what sequencing program that I use, I have found it impossible to arrange/compose without the use of the best multi-velocity sample format available today; Soundfonts.
Not too long ago, only very top-end sequencing programs could load and save SF2's along with your 'project' or 'arrangment'. Today -fortunately- recent versions of most programs have been improved to include specifically dedicated Soundfont compatibility.
With digitally automated hard dri've recorders, mixers, and effect racks, the obvious advantage of this feature is the ability to clear and reload those SF2's automatically with every song. The only flaw with this time-saving upgrade is the INability to unload the default SF2 loaded automatically with windows. It is possible to unload both A and B defaults through the frustrating 'Soundfont Bank Manager', but in order for the previously mentioned feature to be fully funtional, there must be a way to stop the loading of the default SF2's.
If anyone knows of a way, or has already found a solution to this problem, please respond or contact me. Thanks in advance, Mike.
Message Edited by PowerChair on 0-23-2005 02:43 AM

    PowerChair,
I am using Cakewalk SONAR 4, and since the Cakewalk version that came with my old SB Awe 64 Gold, it wasn?t unable to manage the bank 0.
I suspect this have to do with a commitment made by the drivers programmers (both CL and kX drivers doesn?t let you leave the bank 0 empty -at least the kX driver i tested more than a year ago, but?I am about to test the later version). This ensures there is allways a sample to play when you send a note, even if you send it to an empty bank and/or patch. If you do so, you?ll hear the samples from the same patch in the first lower non empty bank, defaulting to the one at bank 0. I believe that by having allways something loaded at bank 0, the programmers avoided the processing overload of having to check if there is a sample to be played every time the driver receive a note, or risking addressing memory with garbage, wich, treated as a sample, could damage your audio devices (btw, I am a programmer :-).
It seems that Cakewalk programmers (I don?t know of other software) decided to honor this commitment by forbiding you to attach or deattach a SF into bank 0 (not even taking the risk of leting you load a corrupted SF file there wich could lead the the "memory garbage problem", or could leave the driver in a unstable state).
The most serious problem (for me) this approach comes from the SF having instruments defined both at bank 0 and bank 27 (i.e., GM/GS sets). When you load a SF in memory, then defined banks are offseted from the bank you choose to load it. As example, if the SF have instruments at bank 0, , and 4, and you load it into bank 0, then you?ll find the instruments in the banks 0, , and 4. So, when you load a SF at bank , you cannot reach the instruments that were defined into the bank 27 because it's offseted to 28 (an invalid bank number). As a result, the only way I have to use those instruments is by loading the SF at bank 0 with the Bank Manager, or editting the SF file to change the instruments into a lower bank.
The other problem I have with SONAR is that it cannot manage the B device banks. You can choose the B device and reach the instruments, but you have to load them with the Bank Manager (btw, the kX device version I tested wasn?t able to reach the B device either, altough it seems the current version can).
If someone knows how to deal with these problems, please drop a tip.
    Thanks.

  • Audigy 2 ZS SoundFont Banks/Softw

Can anyone tell me what SoundFont software and banks come with the Audigy 2 ZS, Audigy 2 ZS Platinum, and Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro? What about the Audigy 4 Pro?Thanks,Serge

They come with 2, 4, or 8MB GM soundfont banks, none of which are all that great. There are plenty of free larger SF banks available on the Internet.
They all come with Creative's Soundfont Bank Manager. The Vienna Soundfont Studio Version 2.3 (for creating SF banks) is a separate download from Creative's site.

  • Need help with SoundFont Bank Mana

If anyone can help. I have a audigy 2 zs and i'm trying to remove all the soundfont banks from both Soundfont Devices (A and B) and move the soundfont cache slider to 0.0mb, to save RAM since i don't use the soundfont device, but when i restart the computer, the soundfont manager automaticaly loads back the 2mb sf2. how can i overcome this?

IIRC, there is a sort of guide available if you press the ? button found in SoundFont Bank Manager window.
Start by adjusting the amount of Cache (this needs to be sized by the soundfonts you goin' to load into manager). You get this dialog opened by pressing the MIDI Devices button found in SFB Manager.
If you just want to add those banks into manager (i.e. not swap w/ original presets) then,
    - press the "Bank" (blue) button --> your manager dialog opens.
    - select free (Empty) Bank from list (you'll probably see the basic CT bank there listed in st bank) then click the bank Stack window acti've ... and press Load -> find your accordion bank and load it...
    - loop this procedure as many times as you need (add another into empty bank) or be able to.
If you want to replace some original preset from default bank w/ these new ones then you select the Preset (blue) button and find the preset from list you want to change... (delete the old if you don't need it anymore) load the new preset ...

  • Working SoundFont Bank Mana

Been lurking here a while, but didn't want to register or post 'till I had something to say hello with.
Have a load of SoundBlaster installation CD's here that I've gathered from computers I've built over the years- been playing with them trying to get stuff working, found this gem that didn't need any modification. To my knowledge no one has posted a working SoundFont Bank Manager, and the default 2MB bank the drivers use in Vista pains me.
This is tested with an Audigy and 2, it may work for others, I have no idea
SoundFont Bank Manager, and the not so great Creative Default 2/4/8MB SoundFonts.
I'm working on a few other things, I won't say anything in case I get peoples hopes up then realise it's impossible.
I'd also like to voice my frustration at Creative, I understand that there were a lot of architectural changes, I understand that they were rather last minute, but what I don't understand is how home users are finding ways to enable things like DTS decoding from optical (thanks Ricky55 by the way), making software work, yet from you we receive nothing for months, and when we do it's not that great and crippled.
    Anyway, rant over.

Hmm..maybe you have some other applications that's reseting the value.....

  • Will SoundFont Bank Manager work with Audigy SE in Vista x64?

= I have been a LONGtime Creative Labs product user, back to the days of the SB Pro and continuing through SB Li've, and now (with my newer Vista x64 system) I just purchased a SB0570 Audigy SE card because it claimed Vista compatibility. I am a musician and desire to be able to use different SoundFonts.
I am unable to get SoundFont Bank Manager to install. When I first installed the card, I declined to install the Creative MediaSource software (I already have an earlier version of MediaSource working on my computer which I need for my Zen MP3 player, and which does not have MP3 encoding crippled). I have searched the forum and tried various downloads, but it appears that SF Bank Manager is not going to work in Vista x64 with my Audigy SE.
Does ANYONE have this working? If so, how? All the other threads talk about either the X-Fi cards OR Audigy 2 etc OR they say SounFont Bank Manager works in XP only.
I did try Synthfont and it does switch soundfonts successfully so this is not a limitation of the hardware.

A I donwloaded the latest SF Bank Manager for the X-Fi Extreme Music card from the Asia Creative site (SFBM_PCAPP_LB_3_2_00.exe), which should work in Vista x64. It does install, but won't run ("SoundFont Manager initialization failed" error). Any help on that one?Message Edited by Jsouth on 02-08-2009 2:08 [email protected]

  • Audigy 2 ZS plat Pro, "What you hear"? problem PLEASE H

Hello, im a gamer, I play cs:source. I just bought the plat pro and I have issues. In gaming you must use a microphone to communicate. And everything was great with my Audigy gamer. But after purchasing the plat pro I noticed I had a problem. In the system volume properties in recording windows xp has the default playback as "what you hear". It doesnt transmit what you speak into the microphone, it transmits "what you hear" Lets say you were listening to music and you try to talk into the mic. All they hear is the music, even though you have headphones on and the microphone isnt picking it up. Anyways, thats what "What you hear" does. So I select microphone in the recording properties and all is great, problem fixed. but when I load up cs:source and when I connect to a server it resets windows defaults to "what you hear" So everytime I connect to a server and try to talk all they hear are my game sounds. yes I can alt tab after connectiing to a server and switch it back again to "microphone" but its quite a hassle.
    PLEASE HELP!

  • Pinnacle Studio 9 + Audigy 2ZS Plat Pro = HEL

After uninstall & reinstalling with a step-by-step procedure supplied by Pinnacle tech, I'm trying to find someone that had/has the same problem. Everything works fine except in <EM>Set-Up </EM>my sound card is recognized only in the <EM>"CD, Voice Over & Surround"</EM> drop down list, and not recognized in the <EM>Capture Source > Audio (Capture Devices) </EM>drop down list. Can YOU Help ?

    Thx CTMan,
    A few things:
You said to disable the realtek onboard sound via the bios of the motherboard; restart and see if it works but how do I do this?
You also said "make sure you have selected the Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS as the device for recording (not only for playback" but surely if I disable RealTekl then thew Soundblaster will take over? If not, I normally select it via Windows sound control is that the way you reccommend also?
Also, "in your case when the Realtek onboard soundchip is enable, the Realtek onboard sound may be configured as the default device for recording instead of the Audigy 2 ZS)" but all I know is that I currently have the SB selected for both rec and playback - though there are no LINE IN or MIC options available.
I have just double checked by going into sound devices in Control Panel and the Plat Pro is already pre selected for record and playback.
    Thx

  • Audigy 4 Pro - can only get 2 channel sound via SPDIF/optical connecti

I have two PC's, one with an Audigy 4 Pro and one with an Audigy 2 Platinum (A2P), I have my 5. speakers hooked up to the A2P and the A4P connected via the SPDIF to the A2P, I would expect to get 5. - both are setup to use 5. speakers, (I know that as a standard Digital coax/optical connections should handle multi speaker configs my entire A/V sound system (7. Dolby) uses optical and coax and it works fine).
If I run the channel test on the Audigy 4 I can get nothing but sound through the left and right speakers, if I run the test on the Audigy 2 (speakers direct connected) the sound is fine, if I reconnect the speakers to my Audigy 4 I get sound on all speakers so it looks like its an issue with the SPDIF and optical inputs (I tried both).
I have emailed tech support, I'm waiting for them to come back and tell me that the Audigy 4 cannot transmit more than two channels down the SPDIF/optical outs, thats my suspicion anyway, if that is the case then I'm not going to be a happy man and the Audigy will be going back to the store. Could be a driver problem of course as I cant believe they would implement Dolby and THX and only transmit two channels on the optical outs, that would be a bit dumb considering the primary use for digital connections is sound system interconnects.
Anyone with any ideas about this let me know, perhaps theres a hidden setting somewhere or a registry setting that switches the digital outs to carry all signals.

Just before everyone kicks off, heres a response I got from a tech guy at Creative themselves.
If you connect speakers to your sound card using a digital cable
(RCA/SPDIF or optical) then the software speaker test will only output
from two speakers. The reason for this is that the speaker test signal is
not in AC3 nor DTS format.
The signal on a digital connection is either
Optical SPDIF - which is either Stereo PCM signal or AC-3/DTS Bitstream
RCA SPDIF - which is either Stereo PCM signal or AC-3/DTS Bitstream
If you play AC3 (Dolby Digital) or DTS encoded signals, the amplifier
decodes this and outputs it to all 6 speakers (5 satellites & subwoofer)
    discretely.
When playing back stereo signals (such as Wav/CD Audio or MP3/WMA files)
the amplifier may generate 5. output based on the incoming stereo PCM
signal, provided Dolby Pro Logic decoding is available and activated.
Therefore the speaker test should not be relied on when using RCA or
    Optical digital connections.
This applies to all speaker systems equipped with RCA or Optical digital
    connections.
This makes sense to me and I'm pretty happy with it, basically as the reply says above the speaker test does not encode to AC3 hence if you hook two Audigys together and run the test you only get 2 channel output, if you play a DVD which is AC3/DTS encoded on one Audigy and listen to speakers hooked up to the other when both Audigys are connected via SPDIF or optical you should in theory get full playback on all speakers. Hopefully
    Cheers
    Simon

  • Soundfont Bank Manager and Windows Vista/Seven (64 bits)

    Hi everyone !
Well I own a SB Audigy SE, running on Windows 7/Vista in 64 bits architecture. The fact is, when I try to launch the SF Bank Manager, I do have an error message : "SoundFont bank manager initialization failure".
I tried to run it in various compatibility modes (XP, Vista, etc ), nothing works. The SB audigy SE is SoundFont .x and 2.x compatible, so I don't understand why it does not work.
Does a version of the SF Bank Manager exist for 64 bits versions of Vista/Seven
PS : the same kind of problem appears with Vienna SF Editor (latest version) : the software does not find any "SoundFont compatible" device.

Going on what Daniel has posted here,
    http://forums.creative.com/showthread.php?==4440
I would take it to mean that the SBM only works on XP. Might be worth asking in that thread, and hopefully he can answer you better.

  • Audigy 4 Pro - No Midi in Audio Mixd

I have an Audigy 4 Pro, which came with Cubase LE.
In my recordings, I have midi tracks which have to be turned to Audio before the tracks can be added to the Audio mixdown. Cubase only makes one reference to this in the help files which says you must connect the output to the input on the sound card - which I suppose means that I would have to use a Y cable to route back to my mixer unless I wanted to unhook some of my speakers? Sounds like a hassle.
Or is there some way to do this in software with Audio HQ? Use "What you hear setting" perhaps?
I've looked at length through the help files and can't find any direct reference to this.
It's a bit frustrating. Right now what I'm doing is saving the midi tracks, and then using ITUNES to convert them to Audio files, which is also a hassle.
    Anybody else run into this?
    Any suggestions appreciated - VelvetElvis

Well I just got an email back from Creative Support and they reccomend I use Windows Media PLayer (or any other of the programs that do work) instead if it works 00%. I seriously hope they update the Entertainment Centre to actually work, I feel I am losing value of my Pro product very quickly as the remote now only has the function of changing the volume, not very satisfactory.
I also feel it's rather ridiculous that they recommend I use another program than Creative's, it's a bit of a cop out, and they should really work on fixing the program soon.
If the remote control could control Windows Media Player 0 when WMP0 is in fullscreen then that would be great, or if the remote control could be changed to be like a media keyboard in that it controls any media application rather than just controls that are visible it would be fantastic. Also if the power button could be altered to start an application then that would be great.
Anyway creative, update the entertainment centre to fix this issue please!Message Edited by CrimsonCleaver on 04-03-20062:6 PM

  • Audigy 4 Pro Optical In Probl

    Hey everyone,
I've had an Audigy 4 Pro for about a year now and it's an amazing piece of hardware, but I seem to be having some kind of problem.
I recently had an HD cable box put in my room and I want to connect the optical out port on the cable box to the optical in port on the Audigy 4 I/O box. I made the connections and the optical cable is lit and sending a signal, but I'm not getting any sound out of my speakers. I went into the volume mixer and turned on "S/PDIF-In"?and still nothing. Are there any other settings I need to check? I checked some of the other inputs on the I/O box and they seem to work so I don't understand why this one won't. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

What seems to be a problem is the I/O box is powered on, but not connecting to the card. The power light is on, but the volume knob isn't doing anything and the extra inputs aren't recognized. I didn't touch any of the cables, and they're all secure so I have no idea what's going on.

  • Audigy 4 Pro microphone problems in Win 7 64-bit

    Hi there,
Since I put my Audigy 4 Pro card into my newer PC with Win 7 64-bit the microphone only seems to work when it wants to, or works but sounds messed up.
I've waited a while before posting about this because I thought the newer drivers would sort out the problem, but it remains the same.
The card/microphone works without a problem if I put it in a PC with Win XP.
Sometimes the microphone will not pick up any sound at all. Other times it will work, but only for? game, say Heroes of Newerth. Then in Windows using teamspeak, people describe the sound like I'm talking through a fan. Tried using the in-game VOIP but I get the same result.
After a restart or just some random day, people in Heroes of Newerth would discribe the VOIP from my side as if I was talking under water(or through a fan), but then it would work fine for teamspeak or Bad Company 2 or any other game. I used these 2 games as an example since its what I'm playing mostly at the moment.
There doesnt seem to be any consistancy with the problem.
I have recently removed the sound card from my PC and now forced to use the onboard sound that reminds me of the sound of a clockradio.
    My PC specs are:
    Asus Rampage Formula Motherboard
    Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0GHz E8400
    8GB RAM
4 x WD Raptor HDD Stripe RAID
    ATi Radeon 4870 52MB
    Sound Blaster Audigy 4 Pro?(model number shown?is SB0290)
    Using?a Sennheiser PC350 Headset.
What I have tried my side so far:
Tried latest and older drivers for Win 7 64-bit
Reinstalled Windows 7 several times with different drivers.
Tried disabling all devices except for line/mic
    Tried other input devices.
Tried with different audio and sound codecs, tried without any.
Might have been or 2 other things I tried I cannot think of now.
Is there anyone that experienced similar problems and got it fixed? Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Bill,
Can you be more specific about which steps were not recorded?
There some things that will not be recorded. The release notes list some known issues.
    Known Issues:
Tutorial Builder can only capture actions in Photoshop that are recorded by the ScriptListener plug-in.  While this includes most of Photoshop's functionality, some features/tools are not recorded.  In particular, brushing actions are not captured.  We hope to address this in future releases of Tutorial Builder.
Some of the the actions that Tutorial Builder captures are not yet instrumented to produce detailed text instructions in the final tutorial.  For such actions, the generated tutorial will include a step that says "The (action name) is not yet supported by Tutorial Builder," and the tutorial author will have to edit the HTML to provide more descriptive text.  Note that the "Show me in Photoshop" link is still generated for such actions.
Some Photoshop actions allow the user to specify a set of parameters in multiple ways, but Tutorial Builder cannot detect how the user specified those settings during the recorded demonstration.  Thus, the text in the generated tutorial may not describe exactly what was demonstrated.  For example, in the Image > Adjustments > Levels tool dialog box, you can update the parameters using three different eye droppers.  Since Tutorial Builder does not know which (if any) of these eye droppers were used, the text for a Levels adjustment does not describe exactly how the settings are specified.  Again, the tutorial author can simply edit the HTML to provide a more accurate description.
    Thanks!
    Mira
