Audigy 2 Platinum Drive help nee

i just installed my Audigy 2 Platinum card/dri've into my new system (WinXP), and cannot get the dri've to respond.
the card is fine, but there is no sound coming from the dri've. there is power, as the red light is on.
i have installed/uninstalled the AudioConsole driver set, and still nothing.
any help?
thanks much...

It may be possible to help if you are clear in advising what the problem is and what you are trying to do. In relation to the power button, it, when depressed, surpringly allows you to turn media source on or off. Have you taken the plastic liner off the battery?

  • Audigy 2 Platinum driver corrupti

Before I get into the problem let me give some info on my system.
    Audigy 2 platinum
    Asus A7V333 mobo (revision A)
    Athlon 800+ proc
    Windows XP pro
Long story short the drivers seemed to have inexplicably bailed on me. I boot up two days ago and all games give errors that audio drivers are not detected. I get system sounds, but nothing else.
    dxdiag gives the following errors:
-Sound tests: DirectSound test results: Failure at step 3 (DirectSoundCreate): HRESULT = 0x88780078 (No driver)
-Music tests: DirectMusic test results: Failure at step 6 (Activating the IDirectMusicPort): HRESULT = 0x88780078 (No driver)
I ran the bundled diagnostic utility as well and recieved the following:
    Hardware detection: Pass
    Wave Driver: Fail
    MIDI Driver: Fail
    Mixer Driver: Fail
    DirectSound 3D Driver: Pass
    Registry: Pass
    Mixer Settings Check: Fail
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers from the retail CD. Same situation with the retail drivers. I also updated via the Creative software update and no change. (I really wish there was an up to date driver package instead of updates)
I did not make any recent hardware or software changes, and other than this problem, everything else with the system is fine.
Unless anyone has any suggestions, my next step is to uninstall the drivers again, as well as completely remove it from the registry. However I doubt this will help much. The last time I had an issue with these drivers (consistent .dll errors) nothing short of a full system reinstall fixed it.
    Any suggestions?

  • Audigy 2 Platinum drive on Audigy 2

    Hello,
I bought an Audigy 2 Platinum and an Audigy 2 ZS on ebay. Now I want to know if I can use the internal dri've of the A2P on the A2ZS. What are the differences between both cards?
Thanks for your help and greetings from Germany

Yes, the Audigy 2 dri've should be compatible with the Audigy 2 ZS card.

  • Audigy 2 platinum drive not work

I have a Audigy 2 platinum and the front dri've is not working. The card itself is working fine. I see the red light coming out of the opitcal out so the power is plugged in. Is the cable the runs from the card to the dri've a regular IDE cable?
    My specs:
    P4 3.05/533
    G ram
    Asus P4P800-E motherboard

    Hi,
Is the opitcal out light on on the dri've bay? I'm assuming this has never worked and its a new unit. Two things that may help you. In the BIOS check the PnP OS option (usually under PnP/PCI Config) and set this to No.
Also there is a utility called SBDRVDET.EXE...do you have this file on your system? Try manually running this file and see if this hel

  • Can one use an Audigy 1 Platinum drive with an Audigy 2 soundca

I'm thinking of upgrading from an Audigy soundcard to an Audigy 2 or greater, but I don't want to lose the functionality of my Audigy Platinum dri've, nor have to buy an Audigy 2 with a Platinum dri've, if I can avoid doing so.
Is it possible to just upgrade my Audigy soundcard to an Audigy 2 card and be able to continue using the same Audigy Platinum dri've with it's I've looked at a picture of the Audigy 2 Platinum dri've, and I can't tell a difference between that one and the Audigy version.

    Pulseczar,
Those I/O dri've from Audigy series isn't compatible with Audigy 2 series card.

  • Audigy ZS Platinum drive MIDI in/

    hookay,
So the two plugs on the front of my audigy dri've bay breakout box are labeled MIDI in/out but aren't actual MIDI inputs as far as most music stores are concerned. Does anybody know what actual spec those inpits are? I was also wondering where I can find an adapter for them. I've got the standard 5 pin MIDI cable for my keyboard and wanted to connect it to the interface here and it/s about 2 times too big and 2 pins too short.

    thanks!

It figures that I'd find my answer as soon as I posted.
for future reference, the ports on the front are 5 pin DIN and to connect to them you need an adapter like this 5-pin Mini to Standard MIDI DIN:

  • SB Audigy 2 Platinum Driver/Softwa

    Hi
Seems I might have solved my problem with NAV 2005, it hasn't turned off since, been using Creative Remote Quiet a bit lately. When I installed my soundcard software I did a custom install and picked the components I wanted in, I did not do a full install. was that the right way to handle it's or should I have done a full install of driver and applications on the driver CD? I'm very happy with this soundcard for sure
    Thanks

    Hi
Only other thing I did was disable Creative DVD Audio Detector as well, and reenabled Remote Control after reinstalling the drivers/and the software applications I use, so far so good with Creative's Remote, NAV 2005's Autoprotect hasn't been off once on startup in the last week and a half. Though it was kinda pain reinstalling soundcards driver and software.. but I finally decided I'd try it, and I haven't had an issue with NAV 2005 any day since then..crossing my fingers it's solved totally now

  • Midi ports line in ports Fire Wire etc on the Audigy 2 platinum, new Creative Driver for Vis

Hi, I have been using my Audigy 2 platinum dri've for a few years now and have been very pleased with it, the main things I do on my pc is music creation mainly Midi but also some analogue audio as well, I also do lots of video making. I am just about to build a new system with Vista ultimate as the platform, I currently use XP Pro. I have little use for Creative?s own software and personally I do not think it is that good, I know Creative have released a new driver for my sound card But, my question is will my Midi port connections and things like my line in and the auxiliary ports and the fire wire port on the front platinum panel work with this new driver, and without the Creative software installed on my pc, and as we all no by now it looks like we will not be seeing any at all, or not for ages yet. you see I am a wheelchair user and I can not readily fiddly about a the back of my pc that is why a bought the sound blaster so I can easily plug in and unplug what I like, can anyone give me some help or advice on this issue please. ??

Guess I wasn't clear enough. I have uninstalled the soundcard and reinstalled over a dozen times even going so far as making sure all the drivers that the device properties lists are really deleted from the system. I have resinstalled DirectX at least twice using the latest version from MS. The only thing I have not done with DirectX so far is installed the SDK version which I will be doing eventually anyway. I even uninstalled and then reinstalled my video card as it shared files with the sound card. As for getting the latest version of openAL I see little point in that as Windows forces openAL through DirectX anyway and none of my games use it. Nor does the device depend on it to work. Any other suggestions?

  • Audigy 2 Platinum Help

    Hey GUys,
has anyone been able to get an Audigy 2 Platinum to work with an 865 Neo2-LS? I have been trying everything, but I can't get it to take a non-virtual IRQ. I'm willing to re-install windows if there is a way I can get it to stop being so strange. I'm upset, not at MSI, but at creative, who just don't seem to care.
I was also wondering if turning off APCI means I lose hyper threading. Thanks.

Had quite a few problems initially, and a few of those were:
    # Lockup when changing the speaker settings
    # Lockup when running the diagnose
    # Lockup when trying to update the drivers
    # Pathetic sound quality
    Solved it by:
    1) Shut down computer, unhook the ribbon cable to the Audigy2-bay
    2) Boot as you always do, run the driver auto-update on http://www.soundblaster.com
    3) Shut down your computer, reconnect the ribbon cable.
    4) Should work now
    Thermaltake Xaser III case (black)

  • Inspire P7800 connected to Audigy 2 Platinum

Help please. I properly (as far as the diagram shows) connected my new speakers to my existing Audigy 2 platinum sound card (not the front console but the sound card itself) but I do not seem to have the original sound card CD so downloaded the newest driver from Creative downloads and installed that. No matter what I do I can only get sound out of one speaker. What am I doing wrong?

There is only one choice. To get digital on the Z-5500, you have to use it's decoder (because you cannot turn it off). If you try to use the Audigy 2's decoder, you will get no sound. You can't send a decoded signal to another decoder.
In the Audigy 2 settings, select "spdif passthrough". This will disable the Audigy 2's decoder and just send the compressed digital signal to the Logitech Z-5500 control pod and it will then do the decoding (that's if you have the "coax" setting on in the control pod. Also make sure to have the DVD player software also set to "spdif" for the speaker selection.
You will be then be good to go. You can use the Z-5500 to switch between analog and digital (do not disconnect the 3 analog cables from the Audigy 2 to the Logitech Control Pod).

  • FAQ Comment on Audigy 2 Platinum Solution ID 1

First, I didn't see where else to put this. So...
I was experiencing noise and hiss problems with my 2400+, Audigy 2 Platinum card. Every time I moved the cursor, especially when editing sound files on on IE, there was a high pitched squeal which accompanied mouse movement. The FAQ suggested to completely uninstall the board, software, and drivers. With a bit of "hmm, can't do that and the like" the FAQ corrected the problem.
The FAQ however needs a bit of updating under the XP cleansweep:
. Step 6: The A2P has the setup.exe, same as the X-Fi card, but what it does not have is the Creative Driver Utility Update. Perhaps this is under a driver update but trying to make sense out of those is difficult.
2 Selecting the "Rate Solution" is limited to 300 characters even though you can type more. So I guess this is the right place for FAQ comments.
    Thanks for the help.

Seems that nobody else has had this problem yet. In the meantime i have found out that just one channel is full of noise. Even under Ubuntu i have this noise so it's definitely the hardware. Must be something damaged indeed. the point is that i would like to know how can i avoid to happen this once again. In the last 25 years i am dealing with RCA Audio i connected the devices always not powering them off before. Seems that the problem is here. It could have shortcutted something inside the I/O box.
