Audigy 2 platinum EX . Computer freeze probl

Every time I try to intall my new soundcard the pc freezes after booting up. I'm running xp pro with service pack 2, and the pc has a pentium 4 , 2.4 Ghz processor. This is the third card I've had with the same result. The PCI slots take graphics, and other cards with no hassle, but audigy freezes everything up.
Help....please...please....

I have a simular problem. On the first boot of the day my system will freeze, could be 2sec in, or 2 hours. Once i restart it runds like a dream. Now confirmed it is soundcard drivers by process of elimination. What drivers did you install to get it working without the freezing?

  • Audigy 2 Platinum EX system Hang probl

A couple of weeks ago, I purchased this card though a creative labs ebay auction. I'm still working on the card and trying to get it to work. What happens is that it randomly locks the system whenever I do anything that involves sound. Sometimes I can go an hour of playing a game. Sometimes I can go 5 minutes. Sometimes it just freezes whenever I open the Creative Mixer. I've narrowed it down to most likely being a software issue. I tried a couple of days ago installing just the drivers from the CD. I played mp3s continuosly for 2 days with no locku
    ps.
Today I reinstalled the creative surround mixer and BLAMO, the problems are back.
    Here's the stuff I've tried:
. Tried it in every pci slot.
    2. Tried every pci slot twice and made sure it was seated correctly.
    3. Did a clean sweep between each reinstallation.
    4. Manually set the irq in the BIOS.
    5. Disabled the Audigy and enabled the onboard sound. The onboard sound did not lock up what-so-ever.
    6. Disabled the onboard sound (it was only enabled for that one test...otherwise it had been disabled for several months). Anyway, enabled the audigy drivers.
    7. Install one piece of the audigy software at a time. This seems to have worked. Too bad that the only piece I can install is the drivers.
    8. Oh, and I also tried a 450 PSU because I initially thought it was a power issue.
Are there any known issues with this card? Does it really not get a long with any types of hardware? Are there any known issues with some of the creative software, mainly the creative mixer?
    Here's my system rundown:

  • Audigy 2 Platinum Front Panel Probl

Hello everyone. Thank you in advance for any help.
My problem is two-fold, let me begin with the first issues.
Critical Issue One: On my Audigy 2 Platinum neither the headphone jack nor the Line 2 in/Mic 2 in jacks appear to be at all functional. I can get no sound to go in or come out using them. Additionally, I don't see a volume slider to control either of them in the surround mixer. Is it possible somehow that the entire front panel is disabled? I looked inside my computer and it appears to be connected firmly (the AD_EXT cable is the only one connecting my sound card to anything internally). As a side note I have already tried doing a full, clean reinstall of the drivers, to no avail.
Issue Two: I can no longer auto update my drivers using Creative's site. I believe this is somehow related to IE7, it always functioned perfectly with IE6. When I try to update now the message I get is: "Some components are corrupted." I did a search in the knowledge base and followed the instructions to fix this problem (Deleting the Acti've X controls) but this does not resolve the issue (I also noticed by searching the forums that people with similar problems never found a resolution beyond "doing a manual driver install"). I believe that the acti've x controls that I am downloading get corrupted each time. Is it possible that someone could send me, fully functional non corrupted creative acti've x controls that I could install? Or is this simply an incompatibility between the creative site and IE7?

  • Help with an Older Sound Blaster Audigy Card! Computer freezing on driver upda

    Hey everyone,
I'm new to these forums and dont know if anyone still has experience with the older cards.
I've had a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum for about 6 years now and noticed some popping and sometimes the card began to emit a high pitched whining sound. Thus I decided to install the newest drivers (can't hurt can it's)
However, when I finished installing the drivers, my system refuses to start. Sometimes it's at the Windows login screen, sometimes right after.
I finally got something that may be the reason why my system is hanging. I have a message that pops up that says:
Box Name: ReadReg Application :Version 6.0..36
Message: Completing installation of your audio card
    ??? Please wait.
    My computer is now frozen.
Here are my system specs if it helps
    P4 2.66Ghz
    ASUS P4S800D-X
    PNY 6800GT
    SB Audigy 2 Platinum
    GB Corsair XMS3200C2PT (2x52MB)
    Windows XP Pro
    DVD+/-RW DL
    DVD ROM
After I did a system restore, the sound driver was missing. Said Creative Audigy in the driver section with the yellow exclamation mark. I installed the new drivers again with the same problem.
Any help is welcome!? Thank you for your time and consideration.

    I would:
    Pull the sound card.
Start up.Enter the BIOS setup utility to make sure your MB recognizes the change.
    Save the BIOS
    Start again.
    If Windows works.
Run a thorough virus scan (I hope you're running some reputable anti-virus software!!!)
    Install Service Pack 3.
    Re-install the sound card..
I'll bet Windows finds a driver for it that works. If not, run Windows update manual and see if there's a driver update for the card.
If none of the above helps, well... I confess, I reinstall Windows at the drop of a hat and that usually solves all problems. Do it on a Sunday so you can watch football while Windows churns.
Power Quest Dri've image has saved me from the Windows install horror on many occasions. I think Symantec has pulled the program but there must be something similar out there. Buy it. And in the future, remember, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
    Good luck.

  • Audigy 2 Platinum sync probl

Hello. I have had an Audigy 2 Platinum for over a year now and use it as a decoder for our pioneer stand alone dvd player.Speakers are Megaworks 550. The problem is the audio lags behind the video after an hour or so into the movie. The souncard is in its own irq 8 with no conflicts. The latest drivers and software are installed and the same with xp pro service pack 4.Any idea how to resolve this for the only fix now is to stop and restart the player or toggle between spdif ac3 decode and default i audio hq. Im getting fed up with this and will just get a regular reciever and speakers if it cannot be resolved . Thanks in advance.
    Bug

I came here looking for this exact problem. However mine is NEVER in sync when I use the SPDIF mode. As soon as I turn it to normal stereo it works fine. In a related issue, the sound playback of any DVD is about half of everything else on my system. I have to turn up the volume to about 80% to hear a DVD at a listenable level whereas normal volume for me is at 40%.
My stats are as follows: P4 3.2c, Abit IC7-G, 2GB DDR PC3200, Audigy 2 ZS Platinum, BFG 6800GT OC, XP Home SP2, and the Nvidia DVD Decoder. Everything is running the latest drivers. The volume problem has been happening ever since I purchased this ZS. I never had the problem with my older Audigy 2. The SPDIF issue is new to me since I have only recently been using it. Any ideas?

  • Audigy 2 Platinum probl

I have Audigy 2 Platinum up to date with drivers and software. Running a XPsp2 pentium 4 2.4 pc. I have suddenly developed a problem. It appears to be able to play audio with media player but I can not get any audio from aux input. I have checked the mixer to make sure it is not muted and ran diagnostics which says everything is ok. Also my remote control does not seem to work. It doesn't show up on installed software list but is shown to have been installed in log. Next my midi input is not recognized. And last, there is no speaker option in speaker configuration drop down list. I can run a test on the speakers and get audio though. I have no clue where to begin. Reinstall? The only recent change to my pc was a update of my zonealarm firewall.

  • Audigy 2 Platinum Pro remote probl

I was looking over to my Audigy 2 Platinum Pro today and noticed that the remote light is flashing wildly, and I'm not sure why, as I haven't noticed it doing this before. The remote works if you click it, and I even removed the battery to see if the flashing would stop, but still no go. What's the deal?

    Tkzoo,
Check your connections to the Audigy card. It may be that the cables aren't all the way in on either side. Is there anything else in the room that might be emitting a IR signal? This could cause the light to blink also.

  • Audigy 2 Platinum Not Working with MCE 2

Hi all, I cant get any drivers to install for my Audigy 2 Platinum on my computer, which is running Windows Media Center Edition 2005. On?Creative's support?downloads site there are some apps available that are apparently supported for this?O/S?but no drivers. I have tried installing the XP drivers. They do not work. It freezes in the middle of the installation, or finishes but then warns that the driver was not designed for this O/S and thus wont function properly. Im not getting any functionality out of it, so its not like the 2. is working or anything?like I?read in someones previous post.
Does anyone know where I might find these drivers or if their is a work around? Thank you

The problem you are getting has to do with InstallShield and most probably your?Vista configuration... Make sure you are running as administrator and check the log files in the Program Files/InstallShield... folder to see exactly what files you are missing. There is a Creative Knowledgebase article about it, so do read it. Also do remove any Creative XP software, especially make sure you removed the InstallShield Creative folders (in the same location as above), as these have been known to cause Installation failures.

  • Audigy 2 Platinum, cracks, pops and had enough! Please he

Hi everyone, OK, I know this has been documented before, but I cannot get a resolution. I have an Audigy 2 Platinum. Most importantly, I just built one huge PC out of two perfectly working PC's. The PC the Audigy 2 Platinum was in, was working fine. Now, in my new super duper pc that has everything, it is crackling and popping all over the place, and its really driving me mad. The only time it doesn't crack and pop is when playing a sound file back through Windows Media Player, but i use multi-tracking software, so that doesn't help!
OK, I have two MARC 8 channel soundcards also in my new PC, but they do not conflict. Trust me, they don't. (I removed them and i still had the same fault) I think it is the onboard soundcard on the new Motherboard i have as I checked in MSCONFIG32 and sure enough, it shared the same IRQ. I cannot find how to disable this onboard soundcard in my BIOS which is ASUS Revision 05 (Award Medallion v6.0) Please help as it is driving me into oblivion!
The other difference this PC has over my old one is that it has 4 SCSI divices, two Hard dri'ves (one removable) one 2.2gb ORB dri've, and standard CD dri've.
Please help me!! I am going mad!

    Hi guys
If your computer has any VIA chipset, and if your computer has any of the following problems, then you might need this driver.
The computer stops ("freezes", "hangs", "locks up"), or makes unusual noises when playing sounds.
The computer stops, or files are corrupted, when copying to or from an IDE DVD, CDROM, or CDRW dri've.
Sounds played by the computer are distorted or have a "crackling" noise.
The computer stops when playing 3D graphics or games, especially on an ATI Radeon series video card</LI>
There is a patch for VIA chipset and the patch WORKS for me! Try them at - http://www.georgebreese.com/net/software/ Look under "PCI Latency" patch for VIA chipsets. If you do not have a VIA chipset, you could also try the Turbo patch mention at that website.

  • Connecting vcr to external SB Audigy 2zs Platinum Pro

I've just joined, so apologies if I "mess up". I have some precious things on vhs tape, and want to transfer them to cd/dvd. I run Windows XP. I have to use rca connections, don't think there's another option on the vcr. I see the red and white rca connections on the back of the external 2zs, but where does the yellow (video) connection go? Would be very grateful for help. TIA.

Re: connecting vcr to external SB Audigy 2zs Platinum Pro~ Hi Katman - many thanks for the reply. There is no video connection on the SBA2zs that I can find either. I did send mail to Creative, but they haven't had the courtesy to respond. If I use the 2zs for the audio connection, can I then attach the video connection from the vcr to a separate video capture card? Will this bring everything together and in synch? Sorry, I'm still very much on L plates with all this. Once I get things on to the computer, I can then edit out what I don't want, and burn the rest to cd/dvd; or that's what I'm hoping!! It's getting the data from the vcr tape that's the stumbling block. I know there are?expensi've machines that you can put the vhs tape in and it will copy direct to dvd, my friend has one, but she doesn't know whether you can pause the recording (disk) and let the tape continue running till she gets to the next bit she wants to copy, then start the disk again. TIA of further help.

  • Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro - breakout box not work

I have an an external external breakoput box which was working fine in my old computer. I upgraded the mother board and cpu and installed the Audigy as before. The actual card works but the break out box doesn't light up. If I plug the external box firewire cable in to another firewire port on the computer the power LED lights but that's all. Any ideas anyone?

I am sorry to bump this topic but it is the same as my question and does not seem to have been answered.
I have a Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro - my old one which I decided to use in lieu of the on-board sound. I installed the latest drivers I could find SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_18_0017.exe (after unistalling the existing ones)
The card itself works fine but the external interface box is as dead as a doornail. The power for the interface is supposed to come from the two connectors.
No lights no nothing - obviously I have checked the leads and the seating of the card itself. Playback is fine on MP3, midi, wave files etc. I have disabled the on-board sound in the BIOS of course.
Unfortunately the jacks on the back of the card are 1/8 in. outputs only and the external interface provides the inputs which I need for recording etc. They are 1/4in proper ones - guitar lead size which are much better.
I know it is an old card but I like it. The last time I used in in my old computer it was fine. Card/drivers show up in the device manager. I have installed this both on a Win 7 partition and a Win XP partition on my 2 HDDs with the same result. :mansad:
<font color="#0000FF">Any ideas appreciated! Is there something I am doing wrong? Thanks.

  • Audigy 2 Platinum Front Panel Connecti

I recently began recording my band in our home studio. My mixing board is a Midas Venice 240 which has two balanced XLR outputs from the master bus. I am wondering what method I may use to connect this output to the /4" stereo input on the front panel of the Audigy 2 Platinum. If I just purchase a Y-adapter to combine the two channels into one XLR and then convert it to /4" TRS jack will both channels be preserved? Are there any sound quality issues that arise from this method of connection? I was hoping to get answers to these questions before wasting money buying unnecessary adapters.
    Thanks

The BEST way to do this is to go to radio shack and buy two (yes 2) of their?XLR to /4" Impedence Matching Transformers, AND?one (yes )?dual /4" female TS (tip-sleeve) to single /4" male TRS (tip-ring-sleeve) "Y" cable. Unless your mixer also has /4" main outs as well as the XLR... then you can just use the Y cable and skip the transformers. Or you can use a /8" Y cable with the transformers (and stereo /4 to stereo /8 adapter) and go into the card's line in jack on the actual card. Which is how I did it for a year or more untill i got a firewire recording interface (and it worked darn good too with my Soundcraft mixer and some good microphones). Either way,?you need the transformers for optimal results. The reason is the mixer's output impedence and level doesnt match that of the soundcard's input... mixer will likely overdri've the card, or the signal will sound weak or noisy.. The transformers?are cheap and are darn handy for loads of recording functions, and will provide the Audigy with exactly the type of signal it needs, properly transformed from the mixer. If you do this, you can record ALL of the mixer channels IN STEREO with all the panning, effects, and levels preserved. If you have multitracking software like Cubase or similar, you can even record an individual instrument (or even 2 at once, one panned left, one right... each assigned its own track in your software), come back on a new track (or pair of tracks), and record a different instrumet (or 2) and build a multitrack recording one performance at a time. PS:? you CANNOT just hardwire the mixer outputs and combine them into a single channel. A mixer is needed to properly combine?signals. Don't do it
!!! Have fun... and rock on.PSS:? make sure your overall cable is as short as possible. If you must run it for more than 6 feet then run it in XLR mode and convert it very close to the computer. The non XLR section of cable is an antenna for noise. The XLR section will be shielded against noise. Also, the transformers are kinda heavy so do not plug them into somthing and allow them to hang in the plug becasue the hanging weight will ruin your jack. Its best to run cables to the transformers, allowing them to lay on the floor... in a safe place where they wont get stomped on.

  • Problem with Audigy 2 Platinum Front Panel Input

0Problem with Audigy 2 Platinum Front Panel Input? Hey everyone,
Here's the background of the issue. I got a PS3 over the holidays for literally free
I had my computer out in a testbed style. Plugged the PS3 into my monitor HDMI --> DVI cable, and Red/White into the front RCA jacks of the Front Panel (Aux 2). As soon as I plugged in the cable, I got sound out of my speakers and was able to enjoy my PS3 in 720p
I put all of the components back into the case after cutting exhause and intake fan holes. I brought everything back to school, fired up the PC and PS3. Lo and behold, there is no more sound from the PS3. I know that PS3s are temperamental in moving, but I hooked the audio up to my TV and the sound came out just fine. The AD Ext cable looks like it's secure and in place. When I hooked up a mic and headphones to the front, they worked fine as well. However it seems to be just the AUX 2 RCA inputs that dont work anymore. Any ideas about how to fix this issue? Is there a function I have to turn on now in the software to allow sound to pass through? Any information would be wonderful!? I'm going to try an optical cable in the near future, just need to borrow one from a friend =/

    Problem Solved.
I had moved my cards around for better airflow. I moved the SB Audigy card from the bottom PCI slot to the top. Thinking this might be the problem, I moved the video card back to the top slot PCI-E and the sound card to the bottom PCI slot. Sound is now working again. Thanks for the thread views?:smileytongue:
Think that when I have to buy Win 7 for real if the problem would still persist if I moved the card again? Or is this a hardware limitation?
