Audigy 2 Platinum eX line-in unavaila
I?m running Vista Business(x32) and using Audigy 2 Platinum eX.
When I go to the sound panel recording tab the line-in /mic, s/pdif-in, ?what you hear? are currently unavailable(they are enabled in the properties tab). The line-in 2 is working but its not. (don't hear any sound, the level bar doesn't indicate any input )
It use to work when I was using XP. I don't know if it ever worked when I did a clean install of Vista, I never needed to use it until yesterday.
I?ve did a complete uninstall and reinstalled the drivers 2 times already but still no luck. Now I cant access creative audio console doesn't work.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Hi there " bucktoothmummy". I just recieved this same problem today. Tryed to solve it via software updates and messing with IRQ stuff. None of that helped. I desperately tryed every line-in port there is and suddenly I heard loud static coming from the speakers.
What I found out was that the cable (the wide one) on the backpanel has been someway corrupted, and needed only a few twitches (pull it up and down). So the problem in my case was purely the low quality of the jack OR the cable. The ports them selves are just fine.
Email me if you wish to ask some more, hope this helps

Midi ports line in ports Fire Wire etc on the Audigy 2 platinum, new Creative Driver for Vis
Hi, I have been using my Audigy 2 platinum dri've for a few years now and have been very pleased with it, the main things I do on my pc is music creation mainly Midi but also some analogue audio as well, I also do lots of video making. I am just about to build a new system with Vista ultimate as the platform, I currently use XP Pro. I have little use for Creative?s own software and personally I do not think it is that good, I know Creative have released a new driver for my sound card But, my question is will my Midi port connections and things like my line in and the auxiliary ports and the fire wire port on the front platinum panel work with this new driver, and without the Creative software installed on my pc, and as we all no by now it looks like we will not be seeing any at all, or not for ages yet. you see I am a wheelchair user and I can not readily fiddly about a the back of my pc that is why a bought the sound blaster so I can easily plug in and unplug what I like, can anyone give me some help or advice on this issue please. ??
Guess I wasn't clear enough. I have uninstalled the soundcard and reinstalled over a dozen times even going so far as making sure all the drivers that the device properties lists are really deleted from the system. I have resinstalled DirectX at least twice using the latest version from MS. The only thing I have not done with DirectX so far is installed the SDK version which I will be doing eventually anyway. I even uninstalled and then reinstalled my video card as it shared files with the sound card. As for getting the latest version of openAL I see little point in that as Windows forces openAL through DirectX anyway and none of my games use it. Nor does the device depend on it to work. Any other suggestions?

Creative Audigy 2 Platinum with WHAT YOU HEAR & MICROPHONE shows "Currently Unavailable"
I re-used my Creative Audigy2 Platinum for my new built PC used on Window7 64. Somehow, the latest Creative Sound Blaster Audigy series driver 2.18.0017 "SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_18_0017.exe" on Creative Website (http://support.creative.com/Products...rodName=Audigy 2 Platinum&subCatName=Audigy&CatName=Sound+Blaster&V ARSET=prodfaq:PRODFAQ_150,VARSET=CategoryID:1 )for my old Audigy2 Platinum has some kinds of "bug" problem. It keeps disconnecting my internet access. Also, both "What You Hear" & "Microphone" in Recording show as "Currently Unavailable". And with that, the microphone and music does play fine on speakers or headphones, but I could not use its for talk live through the internet (i.e. PALTALK) or mixing music.
Please help and Thanks a lot!!2014-05-28_21-43-43.jpg

Line-in volume problem with Audigy 2 Platinum
I have a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum Ex with latest drivers and I have an Avermedia TV Box 5 conected to the rear line-in RCA input.
The problem I have is that despite having the Avermedia Box at max volume, I hear it very low on the speakers (I have 6. Creative ones). So if I play an mp3 or whatever I can hear it pretty well, but TV Box sounds pretty low.
My question is: Is there a way to make it sound a little loud? I've messed with line 3 input volume in the creative mix panel but I cant make it sound like a normal mp3 or sound.Problem Solved.
I had moved my cards around for better airflow. I moved the SB Audigy card from the bottom PCI slot to the top. Thinking this might be the problem, I moved the video card back to the top slot PCI-E and the sound card to the bottom PCI slot. Sound is now working again. Thanks for the thread views?:smileytongue:
Think that when I have to buy Win 7 for real if the problem would still persist if I moved the card again? Or is this a hardware limitation? -
Audigy 2 Platinum Pro I/O hub Line 3 damaged ?
Hello everybody, I've been using since 2003 an Audigy 2 Platinum Pro but never had the need to use all the inputs of the I/O hub. Now i have and connected an FM Tuner to Line 3 Input. First everything ran fine but the next day i had noise and loud buzz on this input. As i thought that my OS (Win7 Ultimate) was the cause i also installed XP Pro on another partition and just the initial drivers that came with the card years ago but the same behaviour also there in a clean fresh environment without interfering with other drivers or an OS update. So now i must believe that Line 3 is damaged. I connected a VCR over RCA to Line 1 and Line 2. Everything's ok there but Line 3 has noise before connecting and noise and buzz when connecting anything. I also can hear the source but not clearly.
Is there a way to find out if Line 3 is definitely damaged ?
Besides that, is there any restriction in connecting devices over RCA ? I mean can under certain circumstances a damage occur ?
Thanks very much in advance. Happy new year to everybody. Best regards from Germany.Seems that nobody else has had this problem yet. In the meantime i have found out that just one channel is full of noise. Even under Ubuntu i have this noise so it's definitely the hardware. Must be something damaged indeed. the point is that i would like to know how can i avoid to happen this once again. In the last 25 years i am dealing with RCA Audio i connected the devices always not powering them off before. Seems that the problem is here. It could have shortcutted something inside the I/O box.

Audigy 4 platinum pro Microphone im
Simple one here, i'm just about to buy some leads to connect my condensor mic to my external hub. I just bought a preamp, yet don't have all the leads for it to work. Will a 'balanced /4" TRS connector' fit into the 'Mic imput'/'line-in' of my Audigy 4 platinum pro soundcard? This is opposed to an 'Unbalanced /4" TS connector'. Help will be appreciated! Carry on being CREATIVE
P3U6!SUn 3H+Hi there,
I nearly freaked out when I got the platinum pro as I thought I could get no decent power in direct guitar and microphones. You said you bought a preamp, but there is a preamp switch for Line In/Mic on the front of the hub. I have been using this for boosting mic and guitar signals and it is okay but was wandering what preamp you bought and if you rate it.
Hope I haven't upset you by telling you about the built in pre-amp as it probably isn't the best quality anyway.
Cheers,

Problem with mic in on audigy 2 platinum
Hello,
When I try to record signal from my stereo microphone (for example sony ecm 959a) and I'm switchng to "mic in" only one channel is recording. When I'm switching to "line in " everything is ok (but then I can't use gain). "Mic in" in Audigy 2 platinum ex is mono or something?
Thx for help!AFAIK it's mono.
You need to read something like .
I'm surprised you got both channels to work at all. -
Audigy 2 Platinum used to work fine, now it doesn'
Hi,
I've been using my audigy 2 Platinum to record myself playing guitar for the past 2 years. I have my guitar amp hooked up (via send input on the back of the amp) to the Line In 2 (MIC IN 2) input. Lots of the time ill be up late recording stuff, so i turn my master volume down on the amp (so it doesn't come out of the amp) and just have it come out of my pc speakers. This time, the sound thats comming out of the speakers is just ugly noise. When i'm not playing anything it just hums. When i play something it just sounds like crap. I thought at first it might just be the speakers, so i recorded something and listend to it on different speakers, sounded exactly the same. So next thing i tried was a different guitar amp. Same thing. So i then opened up my tower to see if anything looked strange, everything looks fine. Next i uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers thinking that might help, sure enough, no help. I came here and read the FAQs and tried anything that sounded like it might help. Still havn't the same problem. I am completly baffled now. Is it possible i could have damaged it the last time i used it's If anyone has any ideas for me please let me know. I am running WinXP service pack 2. Thanks
Edit. I have also tried different cables.Message Edited by zedfour on 09-20-2005 02:24 AMMessage Edited by zedfour on 09-20-2005 07:25 PMHi Louie,
Thanks for confirming that is the correct directory. I agree cloning directories isn't the proper solution and would like to help identify what actually went wrong. Perhaps a mapping was removed from CF Admin. It's intriguing that expandPath('/secure') resolves to the proper directory but <cfobject name="getreqstatus" component="secure.common.getreqstatus"> throws an error that it can't find the getreqstatus.cfc that's located in secure's "common" subdirectory.
Just to be clear, is C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\bin\xxxx-Dev the website's root directory? And is there also an Application.cfc file at C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\bin\xxxx-Dev\Application.cfc as well as the one at at C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\bin\xxxx-Dev\secure\Application.cfc?
Could you create a file named bar.cfm w/ this code?
<cfscript>
writeOutput(expandPath("/secure"));//should return "C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\bin\xxxx-Dev\secure"
writeOutput("<br>" & expandPath("/secure/common"));//should return "C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\bin\xxxx-Dev\secure\common"
writeOutput("<br>" & expandPath("/secure/common/getreqstatus.cfc"));//should return "C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\bin\xxxx-Dev\secure\common\getreqstatus.cfc"
writeOutput("<br>" & fileExists(expandPath("/secure/common/getreqstatus.cfc")));//should return "YES"
writeDump(var=new secure.common.getreqstatus(), format="text");//should return "[cfc1] component secure.common.getreqstatus"
</cfscript>
Then could you place a copy of that file at C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\bin\xxxx-Dev\bar.cfm and C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\bin\xxxx-Dev\secure\bar.cfm, and then run both (so basically, www.yourdomain.com/bar.cfm and www.yourdomain.com/secure/bar.cfm) and see what is displayed?
Edit: Please rename or remove the cloned directories (i.e. the /secure/common within the calling routine's directory) before running the above.
Thanks!,

Audigy 2 Platinum Front Panel Connecti
I recently began recording my band in our home studio. My mixing board is a Midas Venice 240 which has two balanced XLR outputs from the master bus. I am wondering what method I may use to connect this output to the /4" stereo input on the front panel of the Audigy 2 Platinum. If I just purchase a Y-adapter to combine the two channels into one XLR and then convert it to /4" TRS jack will both channels be preserved? Are there any sound quality issues that arise from this method of connection? I was hoping to get answers to these questions before wasting money buying unnecessary adapters.
ThanksThe BEST way to do this is to go to radio shack and buy two (yes 2) of their?XLR to /4" Impedence Matching Transformers, AND?one (yes )?dual /4" female TS (tip-sleeve) to single /4" male TRS (tip-ring-sleeve) "Y" cable. Unless your mixer also has /4" main outs as well as the XLR... then you can just use the Y cable and skip the transformers. Or you can use a /8" Y cable with the transformers (and stereo /4 to stereo /8 adapter) and go into the card's line in jack on the actual card. Which is how I did it for a year or more untill i got a firewire recording interface (and it worked darn good too with my Soundcraft mixer and some good microphones). Either way,?you need the transformers for optimal results. The reason is the mixer's output impedence and level doesnt match that of the soundcard's input... mixer will likely overdri've the card, or the signal will sound weak or noisy.. The transformers?are cheap and are darn handy for loads of recording functions, and will provide the Audigy with exactly the type of signal it needs, properly transformed from the mixer. If you do this, you can record ALL of the mixer channels IN STEREO with all the panning, effects, and levels preserved. If you have multitracking software like Cubase or similar, you can even record an individual instrument (or even 2 at once, one panned left, one right... each assigned its own track in your software), come back on a new track (or pair of tracks), and record a different instrumet (or 2) and build a multitrack recording one performance at a time. PS:? you CANNOT just hardwire the mixer outputs and combine them into a single channel. A mixer is needed to properly combine?signals. Don't do it
!!! Have fun... and rock on.PSS:? make sure your overall cable is as short as possible. If you must run it for more than 6 feet then run it in XLR mode and convert it very close to the computer. The non XLR section of cable is an antenna for noise. The XLR section will be shielded against noise. Also, the transformers are kinda heavy so do not plug them into somthing and allow them to hang in the plug becasue the hanging weight will ruin your jack. Its best to run cables to the transformers, allowing them to lay on the floor... in a safe place where they wont get stomped on.

After following the FAQ, searching the forum, reading the book, seeing the movie and buying the action figure line, I thought I'd jump into the fray with my own problem.
I have been installing/using/troubleshooting Creative cards for well over a decade, many in a QA/Tech Support/Lab environment, and have never had any serious problems. I am now a professional voice-over actor and audio drama director, and the Audigy 2 Platinum in conjunction with a Behrenger mixing board has been working wonderfully under winXP for years now. No clicks, pops, whines, whatever. Great surround, and excellent soundfont output and recording quality (plus all the games I play) have made it my workhorse.
I upgraded my Power Supply Unit from a 480w to a modular 650w this weekend. No other changes to the system, a simple swap. On restart, I have minimal output to my speakers, and can hear low, quiet sound only if I max the Main and Wave volumes and max the speakers. Sound loss is equal on every channel on a 5. system.
I get perfect sound out of the headphone jack on the front I/O unit.
Here is what I have tried:
Everything in the FAQ
Uninstalling/reinstalling all hardware and drivers in Normal and Safe mode
Reinstalling latest drivers
Reinstalling original release drivers
Reinstalling to a new PCI slot
Different speakers
Running without I/O unit plugged in (though it works fine)
Running with 2.0 speakers and settings
Checked that Digital was off, etc.
I'm not looking forward to the time and expense of replacing the unit (plus Creative has ditched the rockin' FireWire ports on newer models). You all seem to be having a number of difficulties with the X-Fi units, and I don't want to risk that.
I know from my search that topics of this nature don't really get much of a response, but any ideas?2:[img]C:\Documents and Settings\Syryo_skz\Documenti\Immagini\screenshot - regresso creative.PNG">?=?

Thanks for your reply
I am sorry for the problem you are facing.
To achieve outputs from all the speaker during speaker test, you will need to have an analog connection, or digital DIN connection.
That will be possible if you connect the three line out jacks on your soundcard, to the three audio input (analog jacks->green,black,orange) on your speaker, if it has this connection. Or, you may connect them using Digital DIN, if they have this connection.
If you are using digital connection (coaxial, optical), there will be no way to achieve sound output from all the speakers during 5. speaker test, as they carry stereo signal.

Hello
Your email was helpful, unfortunately, not for my unit, you see I would
have
connected the Jack leads in by now if the inspire had Jack lead inputs
as
you describe
Please don't think I am being sarcastic, but from reading the
correspondence
below it would seem as if your department is having difficulty
understanding
my problem.
Also it would seem your department doesn't have the necessary technical
information on your very own product, so to help with your dilemma I
have
taken photos of the input/outputs on the Inspire unit.
You will clearly see the inspire has no inputs other than Coaxial and
Optic.
This leaves me back to my last post. I think the solution would be for
me to
purchase the correct processor, which would have come with the original
sound card had I not been a little tight on the money front.
I have attached a photo of the sound card with the processor, I would
love
to buy this processor but find myself unable to locate this product on
your

item so I can buy this Processor Please?

Thanks for your reply
Your soundcard is Audigy 2 ZS
Your speaker is Creative Inspire 5. Digital 5500
You will need to have a 3:3 cable(with the color green, black, orange)
to connect your soundcard to your speaker, to achieve the 5. effects
with games.
Below is the connection:
- Connect line out jack of Audigy 2 ZS
to 'Front' of Creative Inspire 5. Digital 5500 using the green color
connection
- Connect line out 2 jack of Audigy 2 ZS
to 'Rear' of Creative Inspire 5. Digital 5500 using the black color
connection
- Connect line out 3 jack of Audigy 2 ZS
to 'Center/Subwoofer' of Creative Inspire 5. Digital 5500 using the
orange color connection
Once you have done the correct connection, play the game DOOM3.
Ensure you have selected either the EAX or surround option in the game
settings.
Does it work?

You have lost me. Your sound card clearly states that I can have EAX
surround decoding from the sound card I have purchased.
All of the games on your web site claim to give me an environmental

that will blow my mind, hence EAX.
All I have done wrong is NOT buying your decoder that comes with the
sound
card. My mistake.
All I want to do is re-address this issue and buy the correct
decoder/processor.
Can you point me to the correct link on your web site so I can buy the
correct decoder/processor?
As for the PCM out of the above cables, this foxes me as my other

only use Optical cabling on my Lexicon processor and from that I have DD

My issue is more to do with NO EAX from the rear and centre channels

Dear Martin
Thanks for your reply
All commercial digital connection eg. optical or coaxial cable will only
carry PCM stereo signal. If you want to output the signal to a surround
5. with extra EAX environment effects, it will not be possible at all
since it is only restricted to stereo channel signal.
As per current industry limitations, we are bound to follow the standard
one-signal output for all our SPDIF and Optical output jacks. This is
something that is currently shared by all vendors for all products.
Please note that all games are not dolby digital, even they are , it
will require certain motherboard to encode it to dolby digital signal,
which our soundcard does not support.
You can only use analog connections to gain true 5. surround for
gaming..

Dear Martin
Thank you for the reply.
Computer games written with support for 3D audio do not require a Dolby
Digital Interacti've Content Encoder (DICE) to output multichannel sound,
with no exceptions. Sound devices that support the real time encoder
technology from Dolby will simply receive the multichannel wave file
output and encode it in real time to a somewhat modified Dolby Digital
bitstream. Creative does not support the Dolby Digital Interacti've
Content Encoder on any of its sound cards.
The only difference between a Sound Blaster card and an audio card that
has a real time encoder, is that you can make a one-wire, digital
connection from your audio card to your home theater receiver and enjoy
discrete multichannel sound from the game. However there will be a
continuous, slight delay, known as "latency", as the encoder is creating
and transmitting the bitstream, and of course the compression scheme
being used is "lossy" (i.e. not bit-accurate).
If you want to enjoy 3D audio in 3D enabled PC games in multichannel
surround sound with a Sound Blaster card, it is recommended that you
connect the analog outputs of the sound card directly to the analog
inputs of the receiver. This will require 3 cables for 5. surround
sound, one for front right and left, one for rear left and right, and
another one for front center and subwoofer. Though it requires more
cables than a real time encoder system, it will not have any latency
issues. When connecting PC audio to a home theater receiver, Creative's
latest sound cards such as Sound Blaster Audigy, Sound Blaster Audigy 2
are likely to provide higher quality audio than any Dolby Digital real
time encode system available for the PC today.

,2,3,4 I cannot get any sound from my rear
speakers (see above in Dolby Digital ALL speakers
work correctly)
when I enter the set-up menu within the creative
software you supply with the sound card and select
5. speaker, digital only, test the speakers via
the white noise function, all i hear is left and
right noise. no centre, no rears.
I phoned you tech support line, the boy on the
phone didn't have much of a clue about your
product and I had to tell him what connections sit
on the inspire 5. series amp/processor.
I want to build another PC for my son, I want to
add the FX series sound card and amp, but i am not
willing to buy anything until i feel you have
helped me to solve this problem first.
please can you help, I am at the end of my tether
with this sound card.
kind regards

Front I/0 panel on Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum ZS not fo
The front I/0 panel on Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum ZS not found by Creative Volume Control Application. Under recording sources, I can only choose from "What you hear", MIDI Synth, S/PDIF-In, CD Digital, Analog Mix (Line/CD/Aux/TAD/PC), Microphone and Wave. The option to record from anything on the front panel, (Aux-in 2, Line-in/Mic-in 2) have disappeared. I have tried re-installing the software from scratch, just installing Creative Update components and even formatting the hard-dri've and re-loading Windows but it still doesn't work!!?Does anybody have any helpful suggestions on this frustrating matter?
If you're using a dynamic microphone, the Audigy 2 ZS dri've bay has a jumper which you can change for it to support dynamic microphones instead of electret microphones. However once this is done you won't be able to use electret mics until you've changed the jumper setting back.

SB Home Theater Cable vs. Audigy 2 Platinum Ex incompatib
Hi all,?I need to connect my good ol' Audigy 2 Platinum Ex to a 6. speaker setup. I noticed that Creative has the Home Theater Cable, but the cable seems to be for a 7.-able sound card, not a 6. (see link)http://www.creative.com/products/pro...duct=4309&nav=. Is this true that the cables we can buy from Creative are only for the newer 7. cards? If so, where could I get/what kind of cables will I need for the Audigy 2 Platinum Ex to a 6. speaker setup? Thanks!Message Edited by bizsar on 07-09-20072:56 PM

I tried to paste the picture on the front page of this manual. Here you can see that the card does in fact not have the connection you circeled red. I have also seen the sketch with this aux connection. The drawing is wrong. The card does not have the aux 4 pin connection. It seems like this type of card has been supplied as a "clean" version with no aux input, and a version as you describe. The manual following my card includes a sketch where the aux is not shown. I am quite puzzeled. Is there any other way of solving this? I am reluctant to by a new sound card.
If there are no 4-pin input connectors onboard, then you need to use one of the line-ins on I/O Console. You mentioned that the sound becomes distorted when connected through line-in (which one have you tried?)
--> can you control the output level from VCR ?
--> have you tried to set input level in Surround Mixer (Wave and Line-In sliders, .rec (AnalogMix(), Line-In n when recording))?
--> have you tried usie Line-in 3 (Aux-In, back of the I/O Console) or Line-In 2 instead of Line-In which is a 'FlexiJack' type jack connector (holds both, mic-in/line-in sources)?

...just bought (and installed) a SoundBlaster Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro - the one with the "breakout box" - to replace the on-board Dell audio sound system, which seems to have died after 4 months.
I am able to get good, clear sound from any and all applications that use "playback" audio.
At present, I can get "playback sound" from one program feature that came with my capture device - an Aver Media USB 300, which was plugged in to the "Line in 2" socket on the break out box. Then I tried to record with it... - "Record Operation Failure!" I'm stilll waiting to see what responses I get from the Aver message board in that regard.
Then I tried recording video (and the accompanying audio) with Ulead Videostudio 8, Virtual VCR, and Roxio DVD Builder, none of which could record sound, even in "preview mode". Before the on board sound system stopped functioning, those features worked on all of the above programs except for Virtual VCR, which I hadn't yet installed or tried out.
I've checked the Play/Record Volume Control in "Accessories/Entertainment" and the Line 2 is activated and selected. I've tried plugging in to Line /Mic but that hasn't worked either. I need to go to Radio Shack to get an adapter to plug in to Line 3 and give that a try.
But before I spend even more money, have you ever seen anything like this?
- Jeff.Jorge,
Thanks kindly for the suggestion, during the installation it did not complain about this patch being installed allready, I'll give this one more shot and see if it persits.
I ran memtest on the machine (10 cycles) wow this thing (G5) is loud in single user mode. I guess the fans don't have power management enabled.
I'm guessing that the issue is from lack of RAM, (512) but I am not 100% on this. Though my research points towards that, It's kind of odd that an app would reach into some other memory segment.
Thank You Again.
I throught all Tiger updates would be obtainable via "Software Update" . I should have searched support.apple.com first.

Problem with Audigy 2 Platinum eX (Germ
Hallo Leute !
Habe seit kurzem ernsthafte Probleme mit meiner Audigy 2 Platinum eX. Vielleicht hat ja jemand die rettende L?sung, denn bislang hat keine Hilfe gefunzt.
(Board: Asus K8V, Boxen: Logitech 5., OS: Win XP)
Problem:
SP2)- s?mtliche alten + neuen + Beta Treiber von Creative probiert- aktuelles Direct X (Diagnose bringt keine Fehler)- BIOS upgedated- VIA 4in Treiber upgedated- PCI Slot gewechselt- keine sonstigen Hardwareprobleme o. Konflikte (ASUS K8V Board)
Alles ohne Erfolg.
Ist die Soundkarte denn wirklich defekt und muss eingeschickt werden ?![translation]
