Audigy 2 Platinum Ex -- no sound from external

I've got internal system sounds, but no sound from the external I/O box. I've got standard RCA cables from my stereo to input3 on the box. I know I've got a signal there, because I can hear it through my other soundcard still installed if I switch to it. I just transferred the Audigy 2 from my old PC to a new one. It worked fine on the old PC.
I've unchecked all the mutes in the control panel, played with volume levels, still no sound. I've got input selected as "what you hear". I do not see a specific "input3" selection for source. I only installed the drivers for SB Audigy 2, none of the other stuff (Mediasource).
Any ideas for troubleshooting this dilemma?

I don't have the External I/O module, but as a troubleshooting step, do the analog jacks on the rear of the A2ZS card work?

I would do 1 thing at a time:"now the micropohone is not working in facetime"
Here is what you can check to get your mike working in facetime:
1. Hold down option while you click on the speaker next to time a. date,
under input Device see if your mic is marked. If not: ✔️
2. Click the apple top left/System Prefs./click on the Sound speaker:
under Input highlight microphone.
3. When you have factime on go to video above scroll and see if your mic is marked ✔️
If that does not get it to work there is more you can check:
(Utilities/Audio, midi setup)
For any other audio device you do this for input and output.
If you get stock post back

You may need to reset PRAM/NVRAM.
First, check that the jack is clean. Put some alcohol on a plug and insert it a few times. See if that helps.
is your output both digital and analog? If digital, is the red laser light visible in the socket? Do not look directly into the socket when checking.
If all else fails try a PRAM reset:
Reset your computer’s PRAM
A small amount of your computer’s memory, called “parameter random-access memory” or PRAM, stores certain settings in a location that Mac OS X can access quickly. The particular settings that are stored depend on your type of Mac and the types of devices connected to it. The settings include your designated startup disk, display resolution, speaker volume, and other information.
Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Immediately press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Continue holding the keys down until the computer restarts, and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
DO NOT HOLD These keys beyond the second startup sound!
Release the keys.
Resetting PRAM may change some system settings and preferences. Use System Preferences to restore your settings.

SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - no headphone sound from the front pan

Hi all,
I had replaced my old broken Asus Mobo with the same type. After all hardware was reconnected to the new mobo I have noticed the front pannel headphone output doesnt work.
I have connected the card and the panel with the proper cable, the pannel seems to be powered OK. I even connected the card and the panel with the internal firewire cable.
The only difference is I have this time installed the drivers from the Creative website, whilst I used the bundled CD with previous installation.
Would that prevent me from hearing the sound from the headphones?
Will appreciate your suggestions,

I have the same problem as you. My system is MSI 865 PE motherboard and XP Pro SP3 with Audigy 2 ZS. I have reinstalled my system numerous times before and never had any problem, until this time....

- Format HD, install win XP, install SP3. Install Audigy 2 ZS driver and application from CD. Sound works.
- Install card's latest driver downloaded from Creative. NO SOUND!
- Device Manager shows everything ok. But control panel -> 'sound and audio devices property' has the device volume bar grayed out. Looks like system doesn?t recognize the card somehow.
- Install the latest application (organizer and other stuff), to no avail.

I tried to move the card to a different slot. After bootup, windows recognized new hardware installed, and started installing driver (I chose 'let windows auto search'). And sound came back. But if I re-install the latest driver again, the sound will go away.

I don't think moving card to a different PCI slot is an legitimate way of solving the problem, and problem still exists after the move. This has been really frustrating.

No sound from external speakers Desktop Theater 5.1 SB 5.1 Platinum

System had been working but lost sound from speakers. All wiring and cables are correct. Can only hear sound from headphones plugged into jack in front of the computer. I noticed on the Decoder\Amplifier that the only light that will come on is the power light. None of the other buttons or lights appear to be working.

Thanks for getting back to me! The speaker system is a Cambridge Sound Works Desktop Theater 5.1. I do unplug the headphones when trying to use the speakers. I've checked for updated drivers and everything checks out through the device manager.
I guess I'm still concerned about the fact that I can't get anything on the box to respond or to light up other then the power indicator. How possible is it that the unit has failed internally? I'm running this on a Dell 4600 and it has worked in the past but stopped several weeks ago. I didn't install any new hardware or do anything that would have changed any settings.
I've run out of ideas, short of removing and reinstalling all of the Creative software and drivers so any help will be appreciated.

Macbook Pro recording sound from external radio

Hi all,
Wondering if anyone can give me some advice on how I can record an external digital radio with my Macbook Pro. As a backgrounder, I am able to do it on my old white Macbook because it has a line-in port, so I just connect a 3.5mm cable from the radio to the Macbook and then I have software (Audio Hijack Pro) to hijack and record it.
However, as we all know, the new Macbook Pros have done away with the line-in port. And the Sound options in System Preferences don't seem to have a function allowing me to fiddle with the headphone port (apparently, earlier models had a function in System Preference that allowed you to turn the headphone port into line-in) but this new model doesn't have that option anywhere.
So I'm wondering if anyone can tell me whether the USB ports or even Thunderbolt can RECEIVE sound from an external device such as a digital radio. I have seen cables that are 3.5mm to USB so I think getting the cable to connect the radio to the Mac is possible, but will it actually receive the sound or just do nothing? Or is there some other way I can record an external device I'm not thinking of, bearing in mind I don't want to use the Mac's microphone to do it, as I will of course get all other ambient sound in the room at the time, and I don't want to rely on an internet stream of said radio.

The output from your radio is analog, regardless of whether the radio is 'digital' or not.
You need a USB audio interface. The iMic is a USB audio interface.

Can't Hear GM sounds from external Keyboard

My system set up is a Mac Mini OS X 10.9.5 with 2.3 GHz intel Core i5 and 5 Gb of Memory . A Focusrite Saffire Pro 14 interface.
I am using a M-Audio Keystation 61es connected via the USB to to the Mac,( and have done for the last 2 years ),
when I was using it in Garageband it worked perfectly as a 'Plug-in & Go' keyboard and i could access and play both the GM sounds on board or the GB sound Library.
Since Upgrading to Logic Pro I can only play Midi voices and loops from Logic, although it recognises the Model of keyboard and allocates the relevant channel, it also allows me to see the onboard menu of GM sounds, and registers in the volume of the track a signal coming through the relevant channel, so i know its communicating somewhere.
But I can't hear ANY of the GM sounds from the Keystations on board library.
Have looked at all the Midi Settings i can find in Logic and followed some paths suggested in the various Logic Manuals, but still no Noise !
I am no Techno Head so please! if you know what it is that I am NOT doing , explain it the simplest way you can.

As far as I can tell, the M-Audio Keystation 61es does not have any form of on board sound generation. So whatever you heard in Garageband was synthesized by GB. In the same way you'll have to set up a virtual instrument in Logic to generate the sound.
Apart from that, it sounds like you are not really aware of the difference between Midi controller data and audio data, or at least the way they are routed. The midi controller has no way to send audio to logic through a midi connection. If it had on-board sounds, you'd have to route the audio explicitly to logic using an audio interface or in rare cases using audio over the USB connection that also does midi. In any case, you'd have to route the sound manually. The external instrument plugin in logic allows you to do that easily. But again, I don't think that applies to your situation.

I get sound from external speakers, but not songs

Hi,
I have a pair of external speakers plugged into the output jack of my PC. I get sound, even from iTunes Help which Dings when I enter search criteria. But when I play songs in iTunes, they're silent. Since I get other sound from them, I know the volume is okay and they're plugged in, etc. I've played with all 3 volume controls -- the ones on the speakers, the one at the lower left next to the clock and the one in iTunes itself. Still no music.
Any ideas?

This worked for me as well. Great find! I have gigabyte ep45-ud3r motherboard and I was getting all sound through external speakers except itunes was playing the sound out of the digital output instead of the speakers. I could see this when I went to control panel > hardware & sound > manage audio devices. I did the repair as described above and now I have sound in iTunes.

Adobe audition cs 5.5 does not take sound from external mic....

i have used 3.0 audition but this one doesnt even take sound from any external mic.... it takes sound nnly frm internal mimc of my laptop... kindly advice, how can i make it work for the external microphone

No sound from external speakers with music and apps on 3gS

I'm having sound problems with my 3gs. I've read quite a few posts about this and have come to a dead end.
My problem is that there is no sound from apps of music etc from the external speaker but there is from phone calls.
This is what I've tried:
The silent button is off.
I've put the headphone in and out many times to know avail. (I don't consider this to be the problem as when the jack is taken out the volume bar dissapears)
I've blown down the headphone jack.
I've cleaned out the usb socket with a toothpick
I've done a restart
I've done a reset and a full reset with newly downloaded firmware.
To me it's acting as if it is docked into an external speaker.
Any other suggestions.

Is the iPhone able to still play ringtones and songs via headphones? If so, your iPhone probably thinks it is connected to a dock. I had this problem and while I don't suggest it, I messed rather vigorously with the dock/cable port at the bottom before the volume reappeared. I hope this helps.

Audigy 2 ZS no sound from analogue outputs

I have an Audigy 2 ZS with no sound from the analogue outputs, though i believe the digital out is working.
I have been told the card was flashed with alternative firmware.
i got this secondhand so i have no idea this is correct.
can i obtain the original firmware for this device?
i have tried many drivers / settings & no results.
any help would be appreciated.

Test with Ubuntu live disc and make sure the card output is used for output and not some HD audio on-board that takes over.
Also this Audigy 2 have the habit to require from time to time reseating in the slot.
So check the card as well ,or reinstall it in the slot even if it looks well.
Maybe you should find with what firmware was it flashed and try drivers for that device.
I wonder if it ever outputted any sound after that update of firmware

How do I get sound from external device into my iMac?

Hi there, I am trying to get sound from a Pioneer DJ mixer which has standard RCA outputs into my my new 21" iMac. Typically in the past I would get a converter from RCA to 1/4" stereo jack and plug into microphone input, how simple. Now Apple has changed the set up and have no idea as to how to get sound in. The headphone jack in the back of the iMac will only take sound in from earbud microphone, other than that it will only be for sound output. Any help would greatly appreciated.

This is wrong conception. To be able to quantize or do any processing like that, you need to record your performance using a midi track in Logic.
1. I hope you have created some Multi or Standard Instrument so you can edit (quantize) the midi region etc. When you decide that your midi work is O.K you can record it as audio using the Audio Track you are talking about.
2. The other way (new one) is to use the "External" plugin inserted on a Software Instrument.
This way combines midi and audio i.e you record/draw the midi on the Software Instrument track and is outgoing from the Software Instrument channel strip. In this method you must use "Real Time" bounce cause you use external midi device.
3. If decide to use the second method you can bounce the audio but you also can record the audio on an Audio Track if route the Software Instrument to a Bus and assign the Audio Track "Input" to record from that Bus.

No sound from external speakers of Satellite M100 after BOIS downgrade from 5.1 to 3.0

I have a Toshiba Sattelite M100 with WindowsXP SP3 professional edition (as shown in system properties),
Whereas the sticker on the laptop is Windows vista basic
Its Fn keys were not working, so after reading a toshiba support bulliten, I have downgraded my BOIS from 5.1 to 3.0. And aslo by mistake, I also have installed an Audio driver of version 5.10.0.5200.
Before this update, every thing was fine including audio and except Fn keys.
Now after this my Fn keys start working but audio stop working.
I checked toshiba Asia website and re-installed the Realtek HD driver 5.10.0.5247 after un-installing old one and restarting the PC.
But now, my built-in Harman-Kardan speakers and mic are not working, Only sound from audio jack to Headphone is working
I have done all this process for almost 10 times

your connection might be faulty try jiggling it or twisting it gently while in the headphone jack.
I stress gently since there are optical outputs in it that you don't want to scratch. if you want true surround get a receiver that supports sound through hdmi or Toslink optical Audio, the latter I know your imac supports.

No sound from external keyboard in Logic Express 9.1.8

I have connected my Yamaha MM6 keyboard to my Macbook Pro using a USB connection. In Garageband, everything works fine, but in Logic Express 9.1.8, I don't hear anything, In the Library panel, the MM6 shows up as Port 1 and 16 channel options appear. None of them result in sound. It indicates notes being played in the Input window, but not the Out. Does anyone have any advice?

OK, maybe I am not explaining this the right way. There is no sound coming out when I press keys on the capslock keyboard. I went into Window > Environment. Then I clicked on the drop down arrow in the top-left hand corner where the layers are usually located and went to "click & ports." I have everything connected properly, but I don't see "Caps Lock Keyboard" located in the "Physical Output" object box where it should be. Does anyone know how to get it back in there as I believe this is why I can't get any sound from the capslock keyboard.
