Audigy 2 to recie

If someone Could tell me where Im wrong here, I'd appreciate it.
I have been trying to connect my Audigy 2 card to my 5. receiver. I have done this by getting a /8 -> RCA Y-cable, plugged into the front left/right output (the green output). From there I have connected the RCA cords into my receiver. I figured that the decoder in the receiver would be able to take the left/right information and turn it into 5., but it has turned out so far that I was wrong. WAY wrong. So what do I do? there is no digital input on my receiver, FYI. Is it possible?

Gnodab,
Does your receiver have any Dolby Pro Logic II or similar feature? If yes, try enabling it. If not, I think your receiver doesn't have the capability to upmix stereo source to multi-channel environment.

  • Audigy 2 ZS - Surround Mixer - REC setting greyed

Hi! I can't select my sound input device in the surround mixer anymore. Here is a picture:
    <img alt="mixer" width="500" src="http://img95.imageshack.us/img95/09/mixeriq.jpg" height="302" title="mixer">
As you can see the slider is greyed out. My microphone works just fine, but I cannot adjust the volume anymore.
I'm using Windows XP, I recently installed Skype and TeamSpeak (checked both programs, the input settings are NOT on "automatic", so the Creative Surround Mixer should be where I adjust the input volume)
I can use the windows settings to select another recording device and adjusting the volume also works, but I want to use the creative mixer, this worked in the past and I want it back
Any ideas? Maybe I'm missing something important.

Hmm no but I reinstalled the latest driver (7 Jul 08)

Is that one bugged? Should I downgrade to the driver on the CD?

Ok, so I go to Creative Device Control, and on the PCI/USB tab I've changed the sampling rate to 48khz.
    It was previously at 44.kHz
The bit depth is still at 6bit
Now the problem seems to be solved.
The problem was only with the output from the device. And now there are no skips!!
    Excellent!
Why has that solved it though?
I've read on other forums (head-fi) that the audigy cards do not run at 44.kHz nati'vely so the sound has to be downsampled.
Is that skipping an artefact of that downsampling process?
Will having that set at 48kHz, but recording to a 44.kHz 6bit wav file theoretically reduce the quality of the recording - compared to having it set at 44.kHz and recording a wav at 44.kHz?
On the SPDIF tab the input sample rate is shown as 44.kHz - as that's what is output by the DAC in my minidisc deck.
But when I changed the sampling rate on the PCI/USB tab, the SPDIF output sampling rate also changed to 48kHz.
This means if I wanted to record from the optical output, whilst also recording to the computer, and that device only supported 44.kHz - I can't do that?
You listed some main reasons to the truth, why Creative SB cards are not very popular on serious use (DAW). I.e. need for resampling. X-Fi's in creation mode are (least said to be) the only ones not resample everything.
There is a setting for "Bit-Accurate-Recording" (digital modes only) --> have you tried if that works on your recordings?

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platnium digital feedback during rec

I am recieving a digital distortion from the sound card when recording into Sony Vegas Video software. This doesn't happen all the time. I can push the arm rec. button and the rec. buttons on and off and kind of trick it into recording clean and with no distortion . As you can imagine this gets very agrovaiting. I am working on a Sony VIAO desktop media box. It runs on Window's XP with a 2.6 Ghz prossesor and 52 Mbs of RAM. I also am not able to achieve the 24bit sampling. I can record at 48khz. I hope this is all you need from me. Thanks

  • Using the SB Audigy 2 ZS as a Recie

    Hello,
I am running a Media Center computer as a main hub for all my entertainment needs. I bought a SB Audigy 2 SZ in the hopes that it would handle all my audio needs. I am having a problem now however. I would like to run the optical connection straight from my Xbox to the SB's Optical In and get my Surround that way. Is this possible? If it is, what could I be doing wrong? I can't seem to figure out how to get it to output what's comming from the Optical In.
    Thank you,
    <EM>Nakor</EM>

Yes, that's possible. What you're essentially trying to do, is to use the soundcard/PC as the decoder, is that right? I presume you have analog speakers hooked up to the soundcard then.
As long as the card is set up to do the decoding (and the DVD software is set to Passthrough/Bypass), then this should work. The card will decode the signal coming in and output it over the analog speakers.

  • Audigy 2 Value to recie

Hello, I have an Audigy 2 Value in my HTPC, and I bought this 3.5 jack to optical cable: http://www.cablestogo.com/product.as...d=200&sku=2706 to connect the HTPC to my reciever. I've set my MCE decoder to use SPDIF out, but I don't hear anything. I also tried WinDVD and setting that to use SPDIF out and that doesn't work either.Does anyone know why this setup isn't working? Did I buy the wrong cable? Do I have to do anything else to the Audigy card?Message Edited by HankMcCoyX on 2-30-2005 08:38 AM

Thank you, I didn't know that. In the Audigy 2 manual though, it mentions that the card can also connect to a reciever through a dongle as well. This dongle features both optical and coaxial inputs and outputs. Does this dongle act as more than just a pass through? It isn't powered like most coaxial to optical converters I've seen. The other way the manual shows it is through the 3.5 to rca cable you mentioned, so I'll try that.

  • Can't get the Audigy 2 ZS to rec

I am clearly doing something wrong, but what? I updated the drivers and programs, and ran the diagnostics which indicate everything is ok.
My only goal is to be able to record from my turntable. I ran RCA outs to my regular amp, and it sounds fine, so I know the turntable is doing its job. I wanted to record from the SPDIF output of the Denon turntable, but when that didn't work, I just used the regular outputs.
When I turn on the Creative Play Center and push the Record button, after selecting the Line In source, it doesn't appear that the input is recognized as having any signal on it.
I am wondering if I might have a motherboard-level conflict. I turned off the built-in sound card using the motherboard's bios setup.
At the present time, I am using an older Microsoft Sound System that connects to the PC using the USB connections, so the SoundBlaster is not set up to dri've speakers. Once I can make it record, then I will add speakers.
Any and all suggestions would be very much appreciated. I have tried everything I could think of with no luck and am very frustrated.
    Thanks in advance!

Team, iTunes 10.2.2.12 has just been released. I installed it and checked, and BonJour's been updated to version 2.0.5.0, and there's a new 2.0.5.0 version of dnssd.dll on my system. So I reckon it's worth a try updating to that to see if it's of any help with your trouble.

  • Problem with microphone, Audigy 2, and a Dell (not the same problem as the 8 million other topi

Hello,?I recently reformatted my hard dri've and had to reinstall drivers for nearly everything, etc. I have a Dell Dimension 4600, and an Audigy 2 sound card. My microphone worked fine before the reformat and then it was broken. Its not that it wasn't picking up my voice (I have read that the typical problem with Dell computers and microphones was that you had to almost scream into the microphone to get it to hear anything). When I tried to record something, it would record what was coming out of my speakers, and not what I was saying (no matter how hard I yelled). So, when I was playing Counterstrike, everybody heard my gun shooting and grenades exploding etc. instead of my voice (which was what was coming out of my headphones). So I downloaded the ISO available here and through some complicated, random process of uninstalling and reinstalling the various sound drivers I found on the internet, I managed to get my microphone to work perfectly. I changed some settings before I went to bed on Sunday night, and when I tried to use my microphone on Monday it didn't work again (and I had the same problem as before).
So I reformatted again and am trying to figure out what order I installed and uninstalled etc.
So my question is, has anyone else has this specific problem (when attempting to record it records what comes out of the speakers/headphones and not what is being said into the microphone) and remembers how to fix it's? What I did was really bizarre, something like downloading Dell drivers, installing them, uninstalling them, downloading Creative drivers, installing them, installing Dell drivers on top of them, uninstalling both, downloading the ISO, reinstall the Creative drivers, install the files from the ISO, or something like that. Obviously that includes a lot more steps than are needed and because part 3 of the ISO is currently down (I don't have a CD burner so had to redownload the whole thing (I just used a CD emulator last time)) I can't work on it right now :/

Hello,I recently reformatted my hard dri've and had to reinstall drivers for nearly everything, etc. So I reformatted again and am trying to figure out what order I installed and uninstalled etc.So my question is, has anyone else has this specific problem (when attempting to record it records what comes out of the speakers/headphones and not what is being said into the microphone) and remembers how to fix it's What I did was really bizarre, something like downloading Dell drivers, installing them, uninstalling them, downloading Creative drivers, installing them, installing Dell drivers on top of them, uninstalling both, downloading the ISO, reinstall the Creative drivers, install the files from the ISO, or something like that. Actually, it's not a problem but a setting. On surround mixer .rec source setting --> when you set it to What U Hear everything you hear becomes recorded --> for microphone recording set it to microphone (also set "monitoring while recording" on/off).

System Specs:Windows XP Pro x64 - VISTA SOON! i hope.MSI mobo with AMD64bit Athlon processorAudio card: PCI Creative Soundblaster Audigy 4 with paperweight IR reci'ver and remoteATI Radion 950 Pro with 256DDR3 PCI Xpress2Gig of System Memory?ok i've had this card for about 7 months now and for the first week it worked fine. but eversense i(*Reinstalled Windows Xp pro) i no longer get EAX in games and i also do not get get my Creative Media Center program that i first had when i originally first installed the card. My?IR Recei'ver and?Remote have become more of a paper weight because of this. (NO MATTER WHAT DRIVERS I USE) and i tried them all everything is updated to the latest version and i mean EVERYTHING!?its realy sad that Creative says they say support these products but yet when you donload there drivers they sease to work correctly or fully like they should... What i've found!... IT IS THERE DRIVERS or?LACK Of somthing its not installing CODECS or a Needed DRIVER that is required for EAX and in some cases for 5. to work correctly. how i found this out. I installed placed my old card back in the system because i was tired of not having these features. OLD CARD: C-Media 9738? 5. PCI audio card with EAX .0this card installed the drivers for me that allowed me to use EAX and 5. after i installed this card i then removed the card with out uninstalling the drivers then suck in the Creative Soundbaster Audigy 4 card and installed its drivers and BAMMMM! i had 5. - 7. and MY EAX 2.0 back on my games?CREATIVE PLEASE FIX YOUR PROBLEMS! i know im not the only one with this problem as i've seen this post millions of times and i've had friends that no longer use your product due to pore Service and Support.. also to noteCreative does not Fully support Windows xp x64 its just compatable with x64 as i am now runing XP x64 and i had to do the same thing that i had to previously do to get this card working correclty... now i know this most likely will not be replied by a actual Creative team member just a forum admin or a fellow forum user. i just felt like venting my rage against creative. a once great company falling into the black hole of failer due to pore customer support... wish it wasing that way but some times you cant hid the truth. much like my gramer and spelling. but o well?I can just hope that creative software designers get wind of this and look into this problem and are able to fix this in hopes to shead the light on this problem and why i have to take the previous steps stated above to fix it every time i've had reinstall or for those people wondering why there product isnt working like it should. i know the hardware isnt defecti've other wise it wouldnt be working now that i've done all those things i've stated. im not stating creatives products are all bad just Support and Service keep us up to date Creative PLEASE!

Regards, since salio the new drivers eh treated of installing it without success since it gives mistake, I imagine that I have to desintalar " SB Audigy Series Support Pack 5.0 (05/01/2014) " and to do everything from zero? But I want to know if new drivers improves the sound these or those of the packaging are better?

  • Audigy 4 Pro digital input 16 - 24

I have a Sony MDS-JB920 minidisc deck hooked up to my Audigy 4 Pro through the external box. Works fine.
However, the Minidisc deck allows one to set both the digital input and output to either 6, 20 or 24 bit. As the Audigy 4 Pro is 24 bit, I've set the deck to 24 bit for both in and out. So far no problems. If I watch the settings panel whilst playing a minidisc however, it indicates that the signal coming from the MD deck is 6 bit, although the deck is set to supply 24 bit through the SPDIF out.
When I put the MD deck on rec mode whilst the PC is supplying audio feed, the MD deck loops it back to the SPDIF input of the Audigy and then the software does display 24 bit signal coming from the MD deck.
This is very confusing to me, does anyone have an explanation?

CMSS is an effect used for stereo sounds, to emulate surround sound for them. It has no effect on the DVDs you're playing as you're just outputting the AC3 signal so the speakers can decode it.
If you're using a digital connection, then CMSS will not have any effect for other sound either, you need to connect through multiple analog connections to get that sound. A standard digital connection (coaxial and optical SPDIF) can only pass over either a stereo PCM signal, or an encoded AC3 stream (like on your DVDs). Normal sound like music or games will only be passed over as stereo PCM, so there is no CMSS effect there.
If you can connect your amplifier through several analog connections, then you can use CMSS aswell, otherwise your amplifier might have it's own upmix option like ProLogic.

  • Adobe Audition, Audigy 2 ZS Platinum, can no longer hear guitar :-\

I've recently reformatted my computer, installed the Audigy 2 software, and installed Adobe Audition. Using Line In 2 on the front of my pc, I was able to plug in a guitar, and hear the guitar via headphones. I can use the remote's record button to instantly start recording, with no problems. I can also play audio using Itunes.
When I opened Audition, I immediately received errors saying that my audio device was not configured or whatever, and that I needed to select an audio device. So I went into the Audition settings, chose Soundblaster Audigy 2 [xxxx], specified Line In 2 for the input, applied and exited. Now I can no longer hear the input from my guitar at all, whether in Audition or not. I'm not sure what setting it might have changed on my pc, but any help would be great.

i opened Surround Mixer, clicked on the red plus (right over Master Volume), only option was "Digital Output Only", nothing else. Installed the latest drivers & software from creative, now I can't hear the guitar input at all. If I play the guitar and record in Audition, i can see the sound levels being elevated, but hear nothing whether in audition or not.
    Other audio plays fine.
Audio is not muted for line in 2, line in 2 is selected in recording screen, line in 2 playback volume is not muted, yet somehow I can hear nothing from line in 2, and i don't have to be recording a single thing... It just doesn't play back.
I dunno what's going on, I haven't been messing with the settings or anything...Message Edited by intel352 on 01-27-2006 06:08 PM
Set 1st your .REC to AnalogMix(...) and then select this '+' sign --> untag the option like picture shows.

  • SB Audigy ZS EAX prol

I have installed the sb adudigy zs and then updated the drivers but when i go to play games that use eax the game does not recognize that the card has that ability. the wierd thing is i also have windows xp 64bit installed on another partition on my computer and everything works fine there except i cant seem to get this sub to work with it.
the way i have the hardware configured is i have the creative home theater cables hooked up to my pioneer reci'ver in a 5. output.
if there is anything anyone can do to walk me through getting this working...i would be much apreciati've...for i have been trying to get this working for almost 2 days and it is getting agrivating because i know this is a great card.
    thnx....Eric

BigBoss. From all the reading I did and the questions that I asked Creative, including using the X-Fi driver, the word from the top really is that it isn't recommended. It's just not a supported configuration. It may work, but I'm betting there may be some problems like your seeing now. I just downloaded and installed the latest drivers that do support the Audigy 2ZS card, and so far (knock on wood), everything seems to be working extremely well.
I decided to download the driver first and let the install do its thing. When it couldn't erase all the driver files, obviously because they were still acti've, I rebooted in safe mode and ran DriverCleaner Pro. It removed all the rest of the files. Rebooted normally and continued the installation. So far, as I've said, all is good! But I'll keep testing to see for sure. Good luck!
