Audigy 2 value and EA

Ive been going through my games which include Rome:Total war and Colin McRae 05. These two games are supposed to take advantage of EAX 4 but I can only seem to take my sound settings up to EAX 3 with no option at all to go higher.
Is there something I need to do to enable EAX 4.
Ive searched for drivers for EAX 4 but these are targeted at the Audigy 2 zs models and my card is only a Audigy 2 value.
Thanks,
Anthony

  • Audigy 2 Value and Windows 7 64bit driver don't work

my first Audigy SE before Audigy 2 Value (SB0400) worked perfect on Windows 7 64bit
with Audigy 2 Value SB0400 i tried 3 drivers , including the beta from the creative support , original and daniel_k driver and after reboot the windows hangs at LOGO and stays there.

Re: SB Audigy 2 ZS and Windows 7 - Full Package driver?T While Creative has written new drivers and some applications for Windows 7/Vista for the Audigy, they have not re-written or updated all of the original applications on the CD. This card is very old now. What Daniel K. did was take all of the applications or most of them, and tweaked them to properly install and include themselves in the registry on operating systems other than Windows XP. For the full and most recent package, check here:
    http://forums.creative.com/t5/Sound-...009/td-p/53838
If the application you want is not included in his package, then you can try downloading the official Creative version and install it on your system in "compatibility mode" by right clicking the file, and choosing properties, and then the compatibility tab and choosing "Windows XP service pack 2 or 3" and it may or may not function.

  • Audigy 2 Value and SPDIF in audio problems

I have an Audigy 2 Value card and a Sony HD6600DP Home Theater System w/ Sony DVP-NC665P dvd player. I also just received my digital I/O module(4 week back order). I have the dvd player audio out to the dvd audio in on the amp. (rca digital in). Next, optical out (the only digital out on the amp is the MD/TAPE connection) to the SPDIF IN optical on the module. Then, in Creative Audio Console I have these options enabled/checked:
    Decoder- SPDIF Passthrough
SPDIF - Digital Output - 48khz, SPDIF - is turned off and set to default
Bit Accurate - On this tab, I have both options turned off presently. In the center of the box shows the current SPDIF In signal. Trying to play dvd audio disc or dvd movie shows unknown or invalid signal. Playing an audio cd through the dvd player shows the 6bit 44.khz audio(also that sound comes through).
    Speakers - 5.
EAX and CMSS are turned off.
As stated earlier, I do get cd audio from the dvd player and the SPDIF connection, but no dvd audio comes throught the same connection. Also, I can get a 48khz audio signal out to the amp, but no AC-3 or other digital surround out. I guess my question is with the Audigy 2 Value, can I have a digital audio signal coming in via the SPDIF

well for giggles i took my card out and used the onboard sound to see it there was any difference.
the onboard is AC97 realtek. the shotgun and quake4 sounds were much better. all the sounds were there but of course it did not sound as rich as audigy does.
so my experiment showed that it is a driver problem. i am guessing no one else has had this problem.

  • Audigy 2 Value and DD/DTS decod

    Hi all,
Something is driving me nuts, and I cant seem to find a definiti've answer on it. I've been searching for 3 days straight now and I've come up with nothing.
I would just like to know, plain and simple, can an Audigy 2 Value (with the external I/O connector for SPDIF) decode a DD/DTS signal via optical in? I've read a bunch of posts that say yes it does, but I cant seem to get it running. I've tried both under XP and Vista (using Daniel_K's and PAX drivers) and all I can get is stereo out. It will not recognize my DD signal. In the Creative Console it says "unknown or invalid signal" and the SPDIF input settings are greyed out on 'default'. Can anyone please shed some light on this? Thanks!

Say again? I have that box. I have my optical put in, but I cant get dolby. Is this card suppose to decode dolby or not? I'm talking about XP, not vista.

  • Audigy 2 Value and

Hi gang!?I am trying to get my Audigy 2 Value card working using the SPDIF out. I have set the decoder setting to SPDIF Passthrough in the Audio Console. I have also set SPDIF Passthrough in WinDVD. No sound whatsoever. I am using Altec Lansing ADA-885 speakers and the coax cable that is supposed to be plugged in into the digital output on the soundcard is actually a split cable (Y cable), one end is marked AC3 and the other PCM. When trying?the setup on my old Turtle Beach Santa Cruz card everything works fine. I use the same settings there, SPDIF Passthrough in WinDVD. I have sound regardless if I use the AC3 end of the cable or the PCM. But from the instructions I have?read?- the AC3 cable?should be used?for DVD's. Now, with the Audigy 2 Value card, I get no sound when using the AC3 cable to the speakers but I do get sound when using the PCM cable.
Analog signals work fine for both setups but I am trying to use fully digital since my soundcard and speakers support this. Sure, I can run in PCM but there must be a reason why AC3 simply will not work with the Audigy 2 Value card even when using full SPDIF Passthrough. Anyone with any ideas?
    Thanks in advance. AM7

  • Audigy 2 value and crash after installing and reboot

recently i bought the audigy 2 value model sb0400 sound card for the second time after i build myself a dream custom computer. Following installation i ran into a problem that reared its ugly head previously on my prior system that i eventually got so tired of trying to figure out that i returned the card. Whether i talk about the attempted installation on the old computer or the installation on the new computer there is one ever present problem of the computer crashing and not ever loading windows at all after installation. The installation of the drivers and bundled up software all appears to complete successfully prior to rebooting however when the comp is rebooted.........nothing a black screen appears instead of the windows xp loading which ends up never ever appearing. I would be very very greatful to anyone who might have a solution to this because in no way do i want to return the audigy card for the second time especially since absolutely everything i use in terms of sound is from creative 7. speakers and all.
    Best regards

  • Audigy 2 Value and Win98

    I don't understand.
Why does the Audigy 2ZS work with Win98SE...
System RAM: 64MB for Windows? 98SE and ME, 28MB for Windows? 2000 SP2 and XP
    (source:
    http://creative.com/products/product.asp?category=&subcategory=204&product=495& nav=4 )
But the Audigy 2 Value (emphasis on VALUE) card does not? ...
Microsoft? Windows? XP, Windows? 2000 SP3 or Windows ME
    (source: http://creative.com/products/product.asp?category=&subcategory=204&product=0653 &nav=4 )
Is this really true? I thought for SURE that I read somewhere that the Value 2 card works with Win98SE. Bummmmmmer.
Are there any drivers for Win98SE for the Audigy 2 Value card? I didn't find them after a quick online search.
I'm waiting for a reply so that I can take the card back to the store, if necessary, and get my money back.

seems like this card is definiti'vely unsupported in Win98. Only drivers for XP/2k/Me wherever I'm searching for on the web. Funny thing is that some resellers are writing it is supported under 98.

  • Audigy 2 Value and WinDVD 6.0 Prob

    Hi,
I would great appreciate it if somebody could help me out with this problem:
I have a sound blaster Audigy 2 Value soundcard. So far it seems fine when i use it for listening to song and etc. However if I use WinDVD 6.0 to play DVD then I would periodically hear a beep sound during the playign of the DVD movie. Sometimes after the 3rd beep, I would just totally lost the sound. If i "Stop" the player and replay again, there will be sound again, but the beeping would be back and same problem all over again.
I really like to continue using WinDVD 6.0 (so not really interested in answer involving using other software) . I've tried to reinstall the sound card, get the latest updates for its driver, play around with the audio settings in WinDVD but nothing seems to solve the problem (other than making it last more than 3 beeps before losing sound completely, **bleep**.....). The beeping even occurs in the "play DVD-audio" test after first installation of the driver.
The last possibility is that the soundcard is defecti've. Please help. Thank you very much.

now that my specs our out of the way i can tell you the problems.
in fear the shotgun sounds real muffled. all other sounds are great, it just really ruins the game.
in quake 4 all the sounds are really crappy. all guns sound like crap. i have tried setting my sound to default and open al but it did not effect the sound.
i have the latest drivers for everything on my pc. all my other games run and sound great so i dont think it is my pc in general.
i think it is a codec problem. has anyone experinced this in other games?
plus when i installed the latest drivers i did a complete uninstall of all creative files and folders, it was doing it with the old drivers too.

  • Soundblaster Audigy 2 Value and Digital I/O Mod

I recently bought this card, and the shop I bought it at did not sell the Digital I/O Module. I was wondering if anyone knew somewhere in Australia where I could buy it.

Only place I've ever seen any of the bays sold is on Creatives UK online store and then its for an A2ZS so not sure it will work for you for basically 80 pounds with VAT. Here's a link for it http://uk.europe.creative.com/shop/product.asp?prod=588

  • Audigy 2 Value left channel stopped working *complete

    Sony Vaio pcv-rs530
    P4 3.2 Ghz
    Gb Ram
    All-In-Wonder ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 28mb
Windows XP Home Edition v02' Service Pack 2
    Logitech Z-5300e 5. Speaker system
I've had my audigy 2 value for about two months now. I managed to install it after a huge adventure of wiping my c: dri've after my first failed installation which ended me with no sound and no hope of restoring it back to normal, except the wipe, of course. It worked for a while, two months, but then I was having issues with my video card, possibly due to overheating because my audigy 2 value was one empty slot away from it and the circulation of air was not enough to keep it cool.
I stopped getting video related crashes after I put my sound card to the last slot, effecti'vely taking out my fax/modem, which I never used in the first place, in order to put the audigy 2 in the last slot, farthest away from my ATI AIW Radeon 9800 Pro. That little modem was blocking the last slot, making it impossible to put my sound card there. Then I noticed a few days later that my front left speaker was not working. I switched the speakers around, and everything worked except for the speaker plugged into the green line ouput, more specifically, the left front speaker never worked.
I'm currently using Logitech's z-5300e 5. speakers system, and they worked fine up until recently where the front left channel will not work. I tested it out on my xbox, and the speakers work fine. Both left and right speakers were okay. I took out my old desktop speakers that came with my vaio and plugged it into the green line output, and even then the left speaker didn't work. The same thing happened when I plugged my headphones in. The left earphone never worked. Both the old and new speakers and the headphones work properly otherwise (when not plugged into the audigy 2). I'm thinking my line output left channel has stopped working on the sound card itself.
I noticed that if I pushed the speaker plug into the outlet halfway, the front left speaker worked, but when I tested the calibration -- the voice matching said "front right" through the front left speaker. Even with all the speakers connected in any configuration, there was never a mention of a "front left" speaker. I concluded that the front left channel on the audigy 2 has stopped working.
Is this assumption correct? If so, wow. How would I go about fixing this? Does it have something to do with the slot switching? I reinstalled the drivers and programs for the audigy 2 after I switched. Although it did not seem to have a problem with me switching the slots even when I didn't uninstall anything. It detected the hardware switch, and everything worked fine. Should I try switching back to the other slot and hope my video card doesn't become one with my motherboard? The warranty has expired on my audigy 2 value, and I don't think I'll be compensated if I have no warranty, correct? All the drivers are updated, and it <EM>has</EM> worked before.
I've heard of other people's audigy 2 values that have had other channels just fizzle out in a few months. Am I one of them? Any information would be really helpful! Thanks.Message Edited by Paulie on 05-2-2005 06:30 AM

If you're sure noone was funny and turned down the left channel in advanced tab of Surround Mixer for instance, perhaps the connector loosened on the board or the soldering went bad; since your warranty expired (check with the store first!) I'd have someone who knows his way with electronics and soldering irons have a look at it.
PS I have the Audigy 2 Value as well; so far it works good but had I known it was treated like the ugly little kid in the Creative family that noone really likes to deal with i'd have gotten the ZS.Message Edited by Marco on 05-2-2005 0:2 PM

  • Audigy 2 Value Digital Output O

    Hello
I recently bought an Audigy 2 Value and connected it into my expternal amplifier via the digital out connector. Is there a digital output only option hidden somewhere that would mute all the other outputs? It isn't under the advanced window of Play Control, that's where my old SBLi've used to have it. Thank you!

alright, i read the knowledge base articles and saw that the tests won't output more than left and right, but still, it's not working for my dvd's. i have my receiver set to "direct". is that right? i'm using windows media player for the dvd playback, should i try something else? do i have to install an AC3 codec? do i have to enable something in media player? anything please

  • SB Audigy 2 Value crazin

    Greetings,
I just purchased an SB Audigy 2 value and Digital I/o adapter for my Onkyo 5. system. I have it connected through a coaxial cable and have stereo sound, but I cannot get my rear and center speakers to work for the life of me. I noticed the digital output checkbox in the speaker settings was missing. Could that have anything to do with my problem? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Update: Ok after checking the CMSS options while testing my speakers, I can see that it is turning itself off everytime I do the speaker test. When I turn it on mid-test, I get sound out the front and rear lefts and front and rear rights simultaneously. Still no cener. Anyways I have been reading through the forums trying to find an answer but any of the conventional fixits don't seem to be working. If anyone can help me out I'd really appreciate it.Message Edited by Coriff on 08-02-2006 05: AM
