Audigy 2 Value EAX Cr

I know there are a couple of threads on this floating around but I couldn't find them. I just want to know if there are any new solutions to this problem (whenever I use a game with EAX the computer crashes and speakers emit screeching sound) This is really annoying me because in World of Warcraft there is no option to turn off EAX, so I don't know how to play it without it crashing on me, other than uninstalling the soundcard drivers.

Wow,st time I looked at this forum. I'm having the same problem. Was doing it in both the Nascar season 2002,2003 sim's.When I was in the car and change view get the same loud screeching sound and then the PC would crash.2003 uses the EAX,2002 doesn't,so I tried 2002 same thing happened.had my Sound card ACC hardware lowered to basics, tried everything.Plus Creative does not have any newer update drivers for this Card, and may never have, there latest driver is real old,so what does that tell you?Now I can't play the 2 Nascar sims, had to remove them. I'm not going out to buy another Sound card, already got to much mony in this darn PC.Chip set is up to date.Drivers are. I had Creatives Extigy External card, did not have any problem, except low FPS because it would use the CPU to do most of the work and rob FPS,that why I went to a Internal Sound card,Better FPS in all games. If I new I was Going to have this Problem I would have gotten a diff. card, diff. CO.At the time I thought it was SP2,I turned a lot off in SP2,Firewall,so on.Did not help,by the time I did all these test ,Fry's would not take Card back.Oh well that's the way it goes, until I upgrade on a new PC. Ron
When you go to support all they want you to do is update your dri'ves, what UPDATE for this card? Old update.Message Edited by rcca on 05-23-2005 02:34 AM

according to the box, the A2value is compatible with EAX4. according to the website an update is needed. there are no updates under A2value regarding this, and the regular A2 EAX update fails to detect any audigy card installed. EAX4DRV....84_50 wont work, no hardware found. what is going on?

    Arkaine,
I believe that this is only referring to the Audigy 2 and 2 ZS. The Audigy 2 Value should have EAX 4.0 Drivers with the install CD. EAX 4.0 was still in the process of being released when the Audigy 2 and 2 ZS came out, but was out after the Audigy 2 Value. No update should be necessary for this.

where can i find them? The ones on the creative page don't work. (I cant use the ones on the disk because my disk is broken)Message Edited by nagant_m44 on 05-09-2005 :20 PM

First you will need to install original drivers from the CD. After that go to Software AutoUpdate page and let it choose the updates you need.
If you don't have the original CD you will have to get it somehow (or buy it

  • Audigy 2 Value and SPDIF in audio problems

I have an Audigy 2 Value card and a Sony HD6600DP Home Theater System w/ Sony DVP-NC665P dvd player. I also just received my digital I/O module(4 week back order). I have the dvd player audio out to the dvd audio in on the amp. (rca digital in). Next, optical out (the only digital out on the amp is the MD/TAPE connection) to the SPDIF IN optical on the module. Then, in Creative Audio Console I have these options enabled/checked:
    Decoder- SPDIF Passthrough
SPDIF - Digital Output - 48khz, SPDIF - is turned off and set to default
Bit Accurate - On this tab, I have both options turned off presently. In the center of the box shows the current SPDIF In signal. Trying to play dvd audio disc or dvd movie shows unknown or invalid signal. Playing an audio cd through the dvd player shows the 6bit 44.khz audio(also that sound comes through).
    Speakers - 5.
EAX and CMSS are turned off.
As stated earlier, I do get cd audio from the dvd player and the SPDIF connection, but no dvd audio comes throught the same connection. Also, I can get a 48khz audio signal out to the amp, but no AC-3 or other digital surround out. I guess my question is with the Audigy 2 Value, can I have a digital audio signal coming in via the SPDIF

well for giggles i took my card out and used the onboard sound to see it there was any difference.
the onboard is AC97 realtek. the shotgun and quake4 sounds were much better. all the sounds were there but of course it did not sound as rich as audigy does.
so my experiment showed that it is a driver problem. i am guessing no one else has had this problem.

  • SB Audigy 2 Value SB 0400 Subwoofer proble

    Hello,
I Own a SB Audigy 2 Value (SB0400) connected to Luxeon Logifox T5. Speakers system.
Two issues came up when I switched my old sound card (Genuis SM 5. Value) to the new Audigy:
. When I try the BASIC speaker calibration through the creative software (Speaker Settings->Speaker calibartion) I hear some squiking noises from all the speakers when trying to play the inital noise through the subwoofer. All the other speakers work great, the squiking noise from all the 5 serround speakers is just when trying to identify the subwoofer (ofcourse, no sound at all from the subwoofer). How can I resovle this issue.
    2. In General the volume of the subwoofer is very low compared to it`s funtion with the old sound card? why is that?
of course, I tried playing with the EAX,CMSS,equalizer,cabling,etc... before posting this message.
I have the latest driver from the software autoupdate in the creative website.
If anyone could help, I`ll appreciate.

  • Audigy 2 Value - Crackling/Popping/

Quite a few people have had a crackling issue in their sound, but nothing I've searched turned up a solution for my situation. I'll explain a few things that have happened to me since I've had this problem.
First of all, when listening to music or playing games with software rendering sound, there is no crackling or popping. This only occurs when I play games using hardware/EAX rendering sound. The popping noises usually occur on louder sounds like explosions and such.
I've had this problem for awhile, and now it's starting to bug me as nothing I do can see to fix it, however I don't know that the card itself is broken.
I had bought a new power supply because the existing one I had was old and cheap, and the crackling problem mysteriously went away. So I shrugged it off, and was happy. I recently went out and bought a Radeon X700 Pro to replace my Radeon 9600se, and it seems the crackling has returned. It's almost like it is caused by some sort of interference, but how can I fix it then? Because of this, I have a surround sound system that is rendered useless for gaming.
    Current Specs
    =============
    Motherboard: Asus P4C800 Deluxe
    Processor: Pentium 4 3.2ghz Prescott
    Power Supply: 600w Ultra
Video Card: Radeon X700 Pro 256mb
    Sound Card: Audigy 2 Value
    Speakers: Altec Lansing 5.
If you see anything here that can cause this problem, please let me know. There has to be a way to fix this.
EDIT: Couple things to add. I've done the obvious things like moving the card to a different slot, or updating drivers to the latest.Message Edited by RatoN on -0-2005 0:35 AM

Well, I think the game with the most noticable problem is Half-Life 2 for me. Explosions sometimes come off louder than it should be with a terrible popping noise. It's just terrible.
The first time I had a crackling issue, I believe all games with hardware sound including Battlefield 2 and UT2004 were affected with the problem (The ones I remember off the top of my head anyway). This time around I tried Battlefield 2, Far Cry and UT2004, and it didn't have a noticable crackle. Only Half-Life 2 seems to suffer the exact same.
I'm not sure what you meant by the MIDI device and why it affects the sound, but switching that doesn't do anything for me.
EDIT: Okay, I just tested Half-Life 2 on the lowest settings and it appeared to help the crackle situation. HL2 did run at a more weaker frame rate than those other games I mentioned, but the frame rate was still playable anyway. I hate to think I have to reduce my graphic settings just to play with better sound.Message Edited by RatoN on -0-2005 :26 AM

  • Audigy 2 value and EA

Ive been going through my games which include Rome:Total war and Colin McRae 05. These two games are supposed to take advantage of EAX 4 but I can only seem to take my sound settings up to EAX 3 with no option at all to go higher.
Is there something I need to do to enable EAX 4.
Ive searched for drivers for EAX 4 but these are targeted at the Audigy 2 zs models and my card is only a Audigy 2 value.
    Thanks,

  • Audigy 2 Value is NOT an Audigy

I have had some discussions (and some copy and paste replies too) from Creative Tech Support on this issue and they actually told me that the Audigy 2 and Audigy 2 Value are using different chipsets somehow, and have different system requirements and different drivers. This is incredible, as I thought they were both Audigy 2, like an SB Li've! is the same basic thing whether it is Full/Value/5./Player etc... same APU.
So since I cannot get my Audigy 2 Value to work with Windows 98se when the OTHER Audigy 2's WILL, I'm sending it back, 'cos that policy does indeed sucketh the most. My SBLi've! will do for now, still hardware EAX which Soundstorm onboard my motherboard won't do.

The following file is standalone aswell, and can be installed without previous drivers:

  • I need the software for Audigy 2 Value...wasn't included in packa

I ordered the SB0400VP, which I suppose the VAR pack specification translates to the plain sound card without any special packaging or software. I did, however, get a nice and shiny sticker with my plain white box. Now, I don't know why they sell the raw video card without any sort of guidance, but I wish to have the software that comes with the "normal" Audigy 2 value.
The internet is loaded with beta drivers and such. How does one function when ordering the plain sound card?
I wish to have the CD labeled "Creative Software Pack" that would allow my soundcard to function. I can find drivers, but I want the console so that I can access all the features of the product. Is there anywhere where I can download this CD? It should not be illegal, it is pointless to download a installation CD for a product you don't have. Therefore, I believe I am entitled to have the software.
    Thank you for your time.

    THANK YOU FOR THE ISO!!!
    It worked flawlessly.
However, I did a messy job of installing it. I had installed the beta drivers before using the iso, and then when I installed the CD and its drivers none of the utilities worked. I then tried uninstalling the utilities but the installation stalled and failed repeatedly. Luckily, I had the option to system restore, but it was on a save point in the middle of installation. So its a pretty sloppy job.
One thing: when switching between modules (EQ, or volume control, or EAX); there is a 6 second wait.
Also, EAX reverb does not work well on Soundfonts (very faint reverb, but definetely not sufficient).
But thank you very much for saving my life.

  • Audigy 2 Value, hap17v2k.sys, and the B

Hello. I would like to state that if this is not the place for this question please feel free to remove it, I just figured this would be the first forum I tried for this question.
So here it is: I own a SB Audigy 2 card, and I'm trying to play this game: http://agtp.romhack.net/doukutsu.html - only when I load it, it causes my computer to crash.
    Now for the long version:
I used to have an SB Audigy Gamer sound card, until I moved it into another computer and upgraded to this SB Audigy 2 Value card. I've played this game (which was built on DirectX 5, btw) with the old card and had no problems at all - though that was before I reformatted, so other settings and files may have changed. I can play other games fine - Final Fantasy 7 (uses DirectX 7), and even the newest stuff (Half-Life 2 - uses DirectX 9). This is the only game which does it.
    Exactly what happens is this; when the game first loads, there is no sound (the way the game is designed). Once the title screen comes up, where there is sound, a second or two later my computer crashes with the following error, and an annoying clicking or screeching sound loop playing over the speakers (as you would normally hear if sound was playing when the computer crashes);
    DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
    Stop: 0x000000D (0x0000000, 0x00000007, 0x00000000, 0xB7C89B)
    hap7v2k.sys - Address B7C89B base at B7C6A000, Datestamp 4095DD7F
Well that's some of it anyway. I'm fairly certain it's due to the sound card because (a) in the properties for that .sys file it has Creative as the manufacturer, and (b), the game comes with a seperate program for listening to the music files - running this program is fine, but as soon as you try to listen to the music - it crashes... same error.
Here's what I've done so far:
    - Re-downloaded and reinstalled the game
    - Uninstalled and reinstalled the sound card
    - Uninstalled all PCI cards except for the sound card, and reinstalled the sound card
    - Verified that Windows, all my drivers, and BIOS are up to date (including the audigy drivers)
    - Verified that the sound card is not sharing an IRQ, or any other types of resources
    - Tried the game with various Windows XP compatibility settings (Win95, etc.), reinstalled DirectX, messed with the sound card's hardware acceleration (all the way off and all the way on).
I think that covers it all - also I do have an open discussion with Creative's support, trying something new every day now but I'm hoping someone here can help even a little bit.
I've run all the dxdiag tests and they've all passed, but here is the output if it's any help; http://www.eaglemaint.com/link/DxDiag.txt
Lastly, my system specs at a glance:
Asus A7M266-D motherboard, Socket A chipset
Two .53 GHz AMD MP 800+ processors
256 MB nVidia GeForce 6800 GT
    .5 GB PC200 DDR
    250GB and 30GB HDDs
    Two 52x CD-RWs
    4-port Asus USB PCI card
3 Linksys 0/00 Ethernet PCI cards
    550 Watt Antec PSU
I think that's all the important stuff. I've done searches here in these forums, on google (only a handful of sites even mention that .sys file, so I can't find any information on it), and in creative and microsoft's support websites. If you have any ideas at all on what might be wrong or what I could try to fix it, please let me know. My AIM name is "The Eagle Maint" if you'd prefer that, or my email is [email protected].
Thanks ahead of time for any help anyone may be able to give, and let me know if there is anything else I can provide... I'm sure I'm missing something.
    -Mathew Tate

I'm not sure if the drivers are compatible between the two cards.
Recently when I uninstalled the audigy 2 and put in my old audigy card, I didn't remove the drivers first - upon restarting, the computer recognized my audigy with the audigy 2's drivers. It seemed to work ok, but I installed the normal audigy drivers anyway.
The catch is, well - the reason I really contacted support in the first place - when I had my audigy 2 card installed (with the audigy 2 drivers from the CD) I couldn't install the driver updates for my audigy 2 from the creative website. Basically, the online auto-update feature wasn't working, and when I manually downloaded the programs and ran them, they said that I didn't have an audigy 2 card installed. I got that resolved with support after they suggested that I download the audigy 2 'value' drivers - I had been trying to get the regular audigy 2 drivers (not value) before that... so basically, I think the audigy 2 can only take the drivers that I have installed now.
I suppose it is just some kind of incompatability, it just kind of baffles me because it used to work fine on my old audigy, and you said you've tried it with your audigy 2 and have no problem... computers can be such a pain.
Anyway, thanks for the help, I guess I should just be thankful everything else works ok.Message Edited by The_Eagle_Maint on 07-05-2005 04:25 AM

Installed the latest driver via the web update for my Audigy 2 value. When I reboot my machine and try to access the equalizer, it gives me a message saying "The audio device supported by this device is not detected etc". It worked fine before I installed this driver.
    Any help appreciated.

Can you try rolling back to the previous driver (if you have a restore point), or reinstalling this update? Does that have any effect?
If you have any onboard audio make sure that's fully disabled in the BIOS aswell.

  • Audigy 2 Value with Windows Vista 32-

I have a situation where I have the beta driver working for my Audigy 2 Value but Windows does not give me a choice to select a 7. setup. It only allows a mono and 2 channel setup. With the Creative program that came with the driver I was able to select 4., but that leaves 3 of my speakers in my 7. setup useless! Is there any program I can use to configure 7. with Vista, just like how Media Source had?

The DAV-BC50 appears to have only stereo analog input ( pair of L/R RCA jacks). You need a cable with a stereo miniplug on one end and 2 RCA jacks on the other. The soundcard should be set to 2-speaker mode. The DAV-BC50 does not have any way accept discrete multichannel from the soundcard nor to accept encoded AC3/DTS from the soundcard. You can use Dolby Prologic II to get all your speakers going, but you should not use processing when playing DirectSound3D games because it will dilute the intended 3D soundfield produced from 2 speakers.

  • SB Audigy 2 Value Specificati

    Hello, all,
I tried to get my SoundBlaster Audigy 2 Value to work under Linux, yesterday. However, it would not work at all, and the device wasn't being recognized at all.
After a bit of investigation, I determined that this particular Audigy 2 identifies itself differently than the Audigy , Audigy 2 ZS, Li've!, and similar cards (they all use device ID's of either 0x0002 and 0x0004, whereas the Audigy 2 Value uses 0x0008).
I hacked up the Linux driver a bit so that it would detect my card as an Audigy 2, but I still get no positi've results. I investigated a bit further, and discovered that the card is *claiming* to be using Revision 0 of the emu0k chipset. Now, all other Audigy 2's claim to use revision 4 of the emu0k2.
WTF. I'm getting the feeling that I've been ripped off. I expected this thing to be a real Audigy 2, not a board that looks like an Audigy 2 with some other chipset.
So, if this card really has an Emu0K or Emu0K2 processor, please tell me exactly which it is. If not, I'd really love to know which chipset this card is actually using so I can write an appropriate driver for it (or exchange it for something else, if it's some POS 3rd-party chipset).
    Thanks.

I would also like to know whether it uses the same DSP as the Audigy 2 series (emu0k2). I would have bought a secondhand Audigy if this was the case. To the OP, I remember reading a review comparing the Value to a prototype version. If you look at the board, after the words "Sound Blaster Audigy 2" a space that used to be "004" is painted over with gold paint. Also if you look at the chip, it's a CA008 revision, whereas the ZS was an earlier CA002 revision and the Audigy LS was CA006. There's a small wire soldered on even that is rerouting a trace... Could that possibly be disabling some of the ZS functionality? Who knows. If you suspect otherwise, e-mail me @ [email protected] I definitely don't mind if I am getting more than I paid for, but I would like to know if I am getting ripped off. So again Creative, does the Audigy 2 Value use the same chipset as the Audigy 2 series?Message Edited by WiCKeD on 02-28-2005 09:32 PM

  • Error trying to run Audigy 2 Value driver inst

I recently purchased an OEM Audigy 2 value sound card that came with no driver installation CD. I have tried three times to download the drivers from the creative website and every time I have come up with this error while it is extracting:
    File error CRC, 0xf3b0b7f:0xeb4fd5b
I am installing this to a brand new computer that has never had any sound card on in it. The on board sound is still running if that makes a difference.
I have looked throughout the forum with no avail. Any help on this would be very much appreciated.

I have the EXACT same problem... I can't seem to get anywhere with it either.
I've noticed a few such posts on the forum, but unforunately there have been no replies.
If anyone out there knows a workaround, please let us know!

  • Audigy 2 Value Install on Vista... Is it POSSIB

Ok, the Vista drivers that are supposedly for this card, do not detect it. The ONLY way I was able to install drivers for this on Vista was to use the original CD that came with the card. I had to use the XP drivers... OK, fine and dandy. Now, I'm stuck without any software for the card, because the ones on the CD won't work with Vista, and the Vista download will not install either for whatever reason. What gives with this card?

Make sure you download updates for "Audigy 2 Value", not "Audigy 2"; also you will probably need the original installation CD since they're updates.
