Audigy 2 Value, hap17v2k.sys, and the B

Hello. I would like to state that if this is not the place for this question please feel free to remove it, I just figured this would be the first forum I tried for this question.
So here it is: I own a SB Audigy 2 card, and I'm trying to play this game: http://agtp.romhack.net/doukutsu.html - only when I load it, it causes my computer to crash.
Now for the long version:
I used to have an SB Audigy Gamer sound card, until I moved it into another computer and upgraded to this SB Audigy 2 Value card. I've played this game (which was built on DirectX 5, btw) with the old card and had no problems at all - though that was before I reformatted, so other settings and files may have changed. I can play other games fine - Final Fantasy 7 (uses DirectX 7), and even the newest stuff (Half-Life 2 - uses DirectX 9). This is the only game which does it.
Exactly what happens is this; when the game first loads, there is no sound (the way the game is designed). Once the title screen comes up, where there is sound, a second or two later my computer crashes with the following error, and an annoying clicking or screeching sound loop playing over the speakers (as you would normally hear if sound was playing when the computer crashes);
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Stop: 0x000000D (0x0000000, 0x00000007, 0x00000000, 0xB7C89B)
hap7v2k.sys - Address B7C89B base at B7C6A000, Datestamp 4095DD7F
Well that's some of it anyway. I'm fairly certain it's due to the sound card because (a) in the properties for that .sys file it has Creative as the manufacturer, and (b), the game comes with a seperate program for listening to the music files - running this program is fine, but as soon as you try to listen to the music - it crashes... same error.
Here's what I've done so far:
- Re-downloaded and reinstalled the game
- Uninstalled and reinstalled the sound card
- Uninstalled all PCI cards except for the sound card, and reinstalled the sound card
- Verified that Windows, all my drivers, and BIOS are up to date (including the audigy drivers)
- Verified that the sound card is not sharing an IRQ, or any other types of resources
- Tried the game with various Windows XP compatibility settings (Win95, etc.), reinstalled DirectX, messed with the sound card's hardware acceleration (all the way off and all the way on).
I think that covers it all - also I do have an open discussion with Creative's support, trying something new every day now but I'm hoping someone here can help even a little bit.
I've run all the dxdiag tests and they've all passed, but here is the output if it's any help; http://www.eaglemaint.com/link/DxDiag.txt
Lastly, my system specs at a glance:
Asus A7M266-D motherboard, Socket A chipset
Two .53 GHz AMD MP 800+ processors
256 MB nVidia GeForce 6800 GT
.5 GB PC200 DDR
250GB and 30GB HDDs
Two 52x CD-RWs
4-port Asus USB PCI card
3 Linksys 0/00 Ethernet PCI cards
550 Watt Antec PSU
I think that's all the important stuff. I've done searches here in these forums, on google (only a handful of sites even mention that .sys file, so I can't find any information on it), and in creative and microsoft's support websites. If you have any ideas at all on what might be wrong or what I could try to fix it, please let me know. My AIM name is "The Eagle Maint" if you'd prefer that, or my email is [email protected].
Thanks ahead of time for any help anyone may be able to give, and let me know if there is anything else I can provide... I'm sure I'm missing something.

I'm not sure if the drivers are compatible between the two cards.
Recently when I uninstalled the audigy 2 and put in my old audigy card, I didn't remove the drivers first - upon restarting, the computer recognized my audigy with the audigy 2's drivers. It seemed to work ok, but I installed the normal audigy drivers anyway.
The catch is, well - the reason I really contacted support in the first place - when I had my audigy 2 card installed (with the audigy 2 drivers from the CD) I couldn't install the driver updates for my audigy 2 from the creative website. Basically, the online auto-update feature wasn't working, and when I manually downloaded the programs and ran them, they said that I didn't have an audigy 2 card installed. I got that resolved with support after they suggested that I download the audigy 2 'value' drivers - I had been trying to get the regular audigy 2 drivers (not value) before that... so basically, I think the audigy 2 can only take the drivers that I have installed now.
I suppose it is just some kind of incompatability, it just kind of baffles me because it used to work fine on my old audigy, and you said you've tried it with your audigy 2 and have no problem... computers can be such a pain.
Anyway, thanks for the help, I guess I should just be thankful everything else works ok.Message Edited by The_Eagle_Maint on 07-05-2005 04:25 AM

  • Audigy 2 Value - 5.1 and Mic in quest

    Just wanted to make sure I will be able to connect my 5. sound system and my microphone at the same time with the Audigy 2 Value? I know that I could with a SB Li've! 24-bits but i'd prefer to buy an Audigy.
    I need 3 outputs for my 5. system and the input for the microphone to be usable at the same time. Using 3.5mm to RCA cables for the 5. system. I'm pretty sure i'll be ok, but want to be sure before I fork out the $00 for the card.
    Thanks!

    The analog outputs and the mic input are seperate connectors, so yes this is possible.

  • Audigy 2 Value and

    Hi gang!?I am trying to get my Audigy 2 Value card working using the SPDIF out. I have set the decoder setting to SPDIF Passthrough in the Audio Console. I have also set SPDIF Passthrough in WinDVD. No sound whatsoever. I am using Altec Lansing ADA-885 speakers and the coax cable that is supposed to be plugged in into the digital output on the soundcard is actually a split cable (Y cable), one end is marked AC3 and the other PCM. When trying?the setup on my old Turtle Beach Santa Cruz card everything works fine. I use the same settings there, SPDIF Passthrough in WinDVD. I have sound regardless if I use the AC3 end of the cable or the PCM. But from the instructions I have?read?- the AC3 cable?should be used?for DVD's. Now, with the Audigy 2 Value card, I get no sound when using the AC3 cable to the speakers but I do get sound when using the PCM cable.
    Analog signals work fine for both setups but I am trying to use fully digital since my soundcard and speakers support this. Sure, I can run in PCM but there must be a reason why AC3 simply will not work with the Audigy 2 Value card even when using full SPDIF Passthrough. Anyone with any ideas?
    Thanks in advance. AM7

    Say again? I have that box. I have my optical put in, but I cant get dolby. Is this card suppose to decode dolby or not? I'm talking about XP, not vista.

  • Rollback the value of required and immediate inputText.

    Hello, Jdeveloper Version 11.1.2.1.0
      <af:inputText value="#{row.bindings.Name.inputValue}" required="true" id="it7" immediate="true" autoSubmit="true"/>
    <af:commandLink id="clact2" action="#{adminGroupManagementBean.cancel}"  partialSubmit="true" immediate="true">My inputText is required because I am not supposed to submit null values to it.
    My inputText is immediate = true because I need to rollback the new value of it when I press the cancel button.
    My cancel button is immediate = true because i need to be able to rollback if the value of the inputText is empty.
    The problem is that if the user removes the old value of inputText (that is immediate) and the new value is 'null', when I press the cancel button it says inputText value is required and the user has to enter some value to be able to rollback to the old values.
        public void groupNameChangeListener(ValueChangeEvent valueChangeEvent) {
            if (valueChangeEvent.getNewValue() != null && valueChangeEvent.getNewValue().toString().length() > 0) {
                // valueChangeEvent.getNewValue()  Is not null I can do what I want here
            } else {
                 //I never can get into this else because the inputText has required = true
                //Any way that I can access it?
        }

    Check out http://tompeez.wordpress.com/2012/03/11/jdeveloper-adf-rest-form-fields/...
    What exactly does the #{adminGroupManagementBean.cancel} action do? A db rollback?
    My inputText is immediate = true because I need to rollback the new value of it when I press the cancel button.It should work when only the cancel button in set to immediate='true'. Anyway, as your inputText is set to autoSubmit='true' the only chance to get the old value back is to to a db rollback. A normal reset won't work after you submit the values.

  • Recording with Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Value! ag

    Alright, I've been trying to record from various instruments and devices... (synth with /4 inch stereo output to /8 inch convertor, cd player with /8 inch output, guitar to amp to /4 inch stereo output to /8 inch convertor)Basically, I want to record in stereo sound.) Does line-in on the SB Audigy 2 Value card have stereo input? Whenever I've tried to record, I have only been getting the left channel. 2) Where's the game controller / midi input? Do I have to purchase the optical digital i/o 2 add on? And if I do, will this even work with the Audigy 2 value? 3) Does the SPDIF work as a stereo input for any of the devices I've been trying to record from at all? or does it require the I/O device I just mentioned?Thanks in advance,Tyler Pantella

    You just can't record analog mono instruments as stereo without a stereo microphone.
    If you mean to record a signal which 'stays in the middle' and not 'panned left or right' then you need
    - mono to L+R (stereo) convertor adapter
    or
    - mono to R+L (stereo) cable
    between (pre)amplifier output and soundcard input.
    <i>Note: Normally instruments are recorded mono --> easier to set instrument positions in final stereo mix</i>.
    ) yes it is stereo
    2) no game/midi on Value. Purchasing Digital I/O won't make any difference to this.
    3) dunno, see yoyr user manual

  • Audigy 2 Value probl

    Hi,
    I bought an OEM version of the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Value 7.. It came without a manual or drivers, and I'm having more problems setting it up than I expected, on both Windows and Linux.
    Firstly, I don't know where to plug in the CD audio cable from my DVD dri've. The Audiology 2 Getting Started Guide I found online does not help, since the Audigy 2 Value card only has TAD and AUX_IN (no CD_IN or CD_SPDIF). Is there any way at all I can play CDs with this sound card? I tried connecting it to AUX_IN and raising the AUX volume (with alsamixer in Linux), but no luck.
    In Windows I cannot even get this far. It does not automatically detect any drivers, and I can't find any drivers for this card on the support site. Which drivers does this card use, and where can I get them?
    Many thanks in advance for any help.

    I'm with him on the drivers. I would like a definiti've solution from Creative's support on this question. I e-mailed them previously and received nothing but canned responses! Software auto-update gets corrupted when I try to use it. I see no solution listed on these boards. This is ridiculous.
    I'll start off by saying that the choice of forum is suitable for your support, Creative. Totally buggy. It erased EVERYTHING I HAD WRITTEN *WHILE TYPING* and often does not display the full posts.
    I have been using Creative products longer than most people can remember the name. Started with a SoundBlaster Pro, moved on to a SoundBlaster 32 (6-bit, 32-voices... come to think of it the first decepti'vely named product and also offered no support), probably the first to own a $250 3DBlaster Voodoo II when I was a teen, and finally purchased an Audigy 2 Value. In fact, the only reason I went with the A2 Value instead of a more expensi've card, was because it was the only one of the A2 Series that would fit in my custom SFF. With both Creative customer support and the technical specs backing it up, I purchased this card expecting to receive the same performance as the rest of the Audigy 2 series. The more I read, the more it looks like this may be a rebadged Audigy and that I have been mislead.
    Look, I am truly fed up with this. Ultimately I decided on the Audigy line because of the performance it offered in gaming. Previously, I had been extremely happy with my Envy-based Philips Acoustic Edge, which sounded just as good in gaming and offered much richer .mp3 sound and processing for. I mainly just wanted a change. But if losing a few frames in games is all it would take to get better sound and provided drivers, I will not hesitate to go back or use an alternati've. Unless Creative publicly provides working Audigy 2 Value drivers and definiti'vely tells me that the Audigy 2 Value provides the same DSP as the rest of the line, I will no longer support their products by purchasing them ever again. You can pretend not to notice this post, but it will have the same effect.Message Edited by WiCKeD on 02-28-2005 03:44 AM

  • Audigy 2 Value card starting to

    Well like clockwork, my second Audigy 2 Value card is starting down the path of death. I've had this second one for close to 6 months, and like the first one I had when it started dying, mysteriously changed the speaker settings from 5. to 2.. My first Audigy 2 Value card did this after about 4 to 5 months, and then popping and crackling came. I don't hold any breath that this, my second Audigy 2 Value card will hold the speaker settings and won't have popping and crackling sooner or later. I don't get this one bit, as I've just recently built a dual core AMD machine and here are the specs. ASUS A8R-MVPAMD Athlon 4200+ X22GB of PC3200 memoryATI Radeon X800XTSB Audigy 2 Value card20GB Western Digital SATA harddri've, & a 200GB Western Digital Serial ATA harddri'veLG 6X DVDROM, and an LG DVDREWRITERWindowsXP Service Pack 2 with all updates?I've checked, and I'm using the January drivers for my SB Audigy 2 Value card, and for all my other hardware, including the ULi serial ATA controller on the motherboard. I just can't figure out why after close to 6 months, that on my second Audigy 2 Value card, it has started dying like the first one. I'm about ready to bail out entirely on Creative Labs soundcards.

    AFAIK, common PC mic inputs are mono, usually plus condensor power (I think it's tip=signal, ring=power, sleeve=ground). This doesn't make a stereo mic "useless," but you'd have to use only one of its signals and rig up an adapter of some sort to use one.
    Perhaps you can enlighten me about what a stereo mic is by industry practices where they are commonly found? It is 2 mono mics in a package, or a mono mic with duplicated outputs (for connection convenience I suppose)?
    A USB mic probably won't be well-integrated with use of the soundcard. Soundcard mic amps don't have the best reputation for quality. If you're serious, a better approach is probably to either use an external mic preamp, or a mixer mic input, and connect the preamp/mixer line-out to the soundcard line-in.

  • How to get return value from java and read by other application?

    i want to read return value from java and the other application read it.
    for example:
    public class test_return {
        test_return(){
        public int check(){
            return 1;
        public static void main(String args[]){
           new test_return().check();
    }from that class i make as jar file. How to read the return value (1) by other application?
    thx..

    If your installer is requiring some process it invokes to return a particular value on failure, then the installer is seriously broken. There are a bazillion commands your installer could invoke, and any of them could fail, which in turn could invalidate the entire install process, and any of them could return any value on failure. The only value that's consistent (in my experience) is that zero means success and non-zero means failure, with specific non-zero values being different in different programs.
    About the only control you have over the JVM's exit code is that if your main method completes without throwing an exception, the JVM will have an exit code of 0, and if main throws an exception (either explicitly or by not catching one thrown from below), it will be non-zero. I'm not even sure if that's guaranteed, but I would guess that's the case.
    EDIT: I'm kind of full of crap here. If you're writing the Java code, you can call System.exit(whatever). But nonetheless, if your installer requires certain exit codes from any app--java or otherwise--you have a problem.

    <FONT face="Courier New" size=3>Sometime after I installed Service Pack 2, the Audigy stopped functioning completely. I cannot say when, exactly, it "broke," as I have not used it for a while, but I suspect the problem was related to SP2.

  • Secure map rendering and the tile server

    Hi all,
    The demos for secure map rendering that I've seen e.g. mapviewer.ear/web.war/demo/secure-mapping.html involve sending an XML map request directly to mapviewer, and they work OK.
    However when I use a MVMapView JavaScript object and just pull back map tiles (no FOI), I see clear_user() being called but not set_user(). In other words my tiles are not being built securely. I don't see anything in the debug listing the values of cookies. Before I dig any deeper is secure map rendering expected to work with the tile server? Does the tile server know in such a case not to cache the tiles since one user's tile may contain different information than another user's view of the same tile?
    When pulling back FOIs with a MVMapView I do see debug info about the values of cookies, and the username is stated correctly in the debug. But still set_user() is not called! I'm sure that at least FOIs should be queried securely???
    BTW this is MapViewer 11gR1.
    Thanks
    Al

    Currently users and roles are not used when rendering tiles.

  • Value-list handler, value-list iterator and session-facade strategy

    Hello all,
    Further to an earlier post, I rewrote my post trying to me more accurate in my question.
    Here is my problem:
    I am trying to implement the value-list handler design pattern using the session facade strategy. In the pattern as it is described here
    (http://java.sun.com/blueprints/corej2eepatterns/Patterns/ValueListHandler.html) the client accesses the value-list handler AND the iterator directly.
    As I chose the session-facade strategy having my value-list handler as a stateful session ejb, I don't know how the client is going to access the iterator. I see only one option: Having the client access the iterator through the ejb value-list handler. This requires adding new methods to the ejb.
    Is this the correct way of doing it? Is there another way of doing this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Julien Martin.

    u can use project list handler as ur session facade.
    regarding ur second question ..session facade and value list handler session bean which is also a session facade( but there is difference between first and second) so u can use session facade and value listhandler

  • Forgotten Sys and System user passwords

    In the case of forgetting the Sys and the System user passwords, is there anyway of logging on with privilages to be able to change these passwords, if not, are there any other solutions?
    Thanks,
    Nick

    In order for "/ as sysdba" to work, you need to run
    the password file creation utility (orapwd).
    No, it has nothing to do with the password file. In order for "connect / as sysdba" to succeed, it is necessary to have an operating system account which is a member of the "osdba group". In Windows, this OS group is : "ORA_DBA". Any member of this group can and has privileges to connect "/ as sysdba". Again, it has nothing to do with password file.
    In Windows there is another condition for it to work :
    The file %ORACLE_HOME%\network\admin\sqlnet.ora must have the following line :
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS)
    In Unix systems, the osdba group is configured at installation and is conventionally named "dba".

  • How to convert ascii value into character and vice versa

    Hello the java world people,
    I want to convert each characters from my array into their corespondent ascii value and vice versa, how can I do that ?

    The term "ASCII" is often used very loosely.
    Java char values are UNICODE and the ASCII codes are indentical to UNICODE characters in the range 0 .. 127. UNICODE values 128 and above don't have coresponding ASCII values, though 128-255 corespond to ISO-8859-1 which is one of the encodings often called "extended ASCII".
    As shown above you can covert between chars and coresponding int value simply with a cast, but you should be aware that the more exotic characters will not give you sensible values.

    Can you try rolling back to the previous driver (if you have a restore point), or reinstalling this update? Does that have any effect?
