<FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#cc00cc size=4>Hi All, I think that I'll reiterate my problem.
<FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#cc00cc size=4>st I have done all the uninstalling and deleting before installing the Audigy 2 Value that is logically expected. When I was done installing and restarted I didn't see the speaker icon pop up in the toolbar area so I went to "Control Panel, System Info Area", and open Device Manager, went to "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers". Opened "Creative SB Audigy 2 (WDM)" to Properties. It say's that the device is working properly. So I go to "Sounds and Audio Devices" in the Control Panel. Click the Volume tab and it say's "No Audio Device". Go to the Audio tab, and it says under each item "No Playback Devices, No Recording Devices, No MIDI Playback Devices". I go to the Voice tab and it says "No Playback Devices". I go to the Hardware tab, and click the "Creative SB Audigy 2 (WDM)". It says "This device is working properly".
<FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#cc00cc size=4>
<FONT face=Garamond color=#3366ff size=5>I think that by now you get the idea. I'm not getting any sound at all, but everything in the computer that I am aware of indicates that the "Device is working properly". I've tried forcing a manual install of the drivers, but no success. Creative apparently knows nothing about fixing this problem, because I haven't been able to get any answers from them.
<FONT face=Garamond color=#3366ff size=5>Can anyone help?

  • No active mixer devices, no sound, no audio devices

HP Pavilion dv5000, Windows XP Home Edition pre-installed. Have searched all over; seems to be a common problem but none of the available solutions I could find have worked (save for system restore, to which I haven't yet resorted).

This may be an old reply, but I wouldn't advise a system restore.  Tech support told my friend to do this with his laptop and it never worked the same again, i.e. made the situation worse.  He was trying to get a high spec game to play better, but after tech supports suggestion of system restore no game worked, i.e. were so slow that were un playable.
hope this helps for the future.....

  • No active mixer devices found - lost my sound on Sat Pro A100

I need advice/help on how i can restore my sound,
I have a Sat Pro A100 series PSAACE-007002EN and have lost my sound. I may have deleted this upon doing an AOL spyware check and didn't give me the option to backup the file.
All I have is the sound start up for windows and if i'm on msn and i get prompted to talk then that sound is given, too. I have lost the notification sound to my aol login/log off and email notification. I cannot hear sound playing my music either.

    HI Wisam,
You will need to re-install your sound device/drivers. You may find them on your Tools and Utilities CD (if you have one) or alternatively you can download the appropriate drivers (there are different ones depending on which model of notebook you have) from the Toshiba download site :-

  • Smart Recorder - Audigy 2 ZS - Win 7 - "no audio device available"

LSmart Recorder - Audigy 2 ZS - Win 7 - "no audio device available"nI've got Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and a Creative Audigy 2 ZS. They've worked fine together, but I recently tried to install the programs that come on the CD and I can't get Smart Recorder to work.
It has a message saying "There is no audio device available on the system. The application will now close."? I checked my control panel and it definitely shows a my Audigy 2.
I found an old post that suggested using the CTZAPXX.EXE on the CD, but it didn't do anything. I watched the CPU go to 50% usage, but nothing happened for minutes. (http://forums.creative.com/t5/Sound-Blaster/Speaker-settings/m-p/40229)
How can I fix this problem with Smart Recorder?
    Thanks,
    Mike

Is it time to upgrade to X-Fi or another brand?

  • Recording with Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Value! ag

Alright, I've been trying to record from various instruments and devices... (synth with /4 inch stereo output to /8 inch convertor, cd player with /8 inch output, guitar to amp to /4 inch stereo output to /8 inch convertor)Basically, I want to record in stereo sound.) Does line-in on the SB Audigy 2 Value card have stereo input? Whenever I've tried to record, I have only been getting the left channel. 2) Where's the game controller / midi input? Do I have to purchase the optical digital i/o 2 add on? And if I do, will this even work with the Audigy 2 value? 3) Does the SPDIF work as a stereo input for any of the devices I've been trying to record from at all? or does it require the I/O device I just mentioned? Thanks in advance,Tyler Pantella

You just can't record analog mono instruments as stereo without a stereo microphone.
If you mean to record a signal which 'stays in the middle' and not 'panned left or right' then you need
    - mono to L+R (stereo) convertor adapter
    or
    - mono to R+L (stereo) cable
between (pre)amplifier output and soundcard input.
<i>Note: Normally instruments are recorded mono --> easier to set instrument positions in final stereo mix</i>.
    ) yes it is stereo
    2) no game/midi on Value. Purchasing Digital I/O won't make any difference to this.
    3) dunno, see yoyr user manual

  • Audigy 2 Value - Trouble with Newest Drivers and Equali

Just got my Audigy 2 Value yesterday. I know its an old model, but I found a new one for a bargain price. Anyway, I initially installed everything from the CD. The driver installed along with the mixer, equalizer, Creative console, etc... When I realized how old the driver was on the CD (2004) I uninstall it, wiped everything clean with DriverCleaner and installed the newest drivers for Audigy (July 08). I discovered the ones on the website don't include all the various applications such as the mixer and equalizer. Just an basic version of the creative console.
I browsed the CD and installed just the apps I wanted -Mixer, Equalizer,Speaker Settings and Calibrator and Diagnostics. They all work fine save for the Equalizer. It just closes with an error message. Its not the most critical piece - the mixer is where I can at least adjust the bass and treble - but I would like to have it if possible.
Any ideas on getting the Equalizer to run with Windows XP and the newest Audigy drivers Are there any up-to-date downloads available on the Creative website with all the CD applications? The fact they are four years old vs. a new driver is most likely the problem. I did not install any of the Creative MediaSource applications. Just wanted the driver only. Would the lastest downloads for them possible have all those apps in current form (or are the install CD ones all I can get)? Thanks for you help!

If there is, did you disable onboard sound system?
Have you connected your "acti've speakers"/headphones like shown on User's Guide (can be found on driver/software CD)? Use green connector for 2/2. speakers and headphones.
Have you set digital/analog output (and speaker type) by the speakers/headphones (which system you have) on speaker settings panel?
Have you set the Wave slider open and set to 00% (on surround mixer or sounds and multimedia propertied (volume button)?

  • After installing the DR Driver on my Audigy 2 Value, I can no longer access the Equali

Installed the latest driver via the web update for my Audigy 2 value. When I reboot my machine and try to access the equalizer, it gives me a message saying "The audio device supported by this device is not detected etc". It worked fine before I installed this driver.
    Any help appreciated.
    Gyre

Can you try rolling back to the previous driver (if you have a restore point), or reinstalling this update? Does that have any effect?
If you have any onboard audio make sure that's fully disabled in the BIOS aswell.

  • SB Audigy 2 Value Specificati

    Hello, all,
I tried to get my SoundBlaster Audigy 2 Value to work under Linux, yesterday. However, it would not work at all, and the device wasn't being recognized at all.
After a bit of investigation, I determined that this particular Audigy 2 identifies itself differently than the Audigy , Audigy 2 ZS, Li've!, and similar cards (they all use device ID's of either 0x0002 and 0x0004, whereas the Audigy 2 Value uses 0x0008).
I hacked up the Linux driver a bit so that it would detect my card as an Audigy 2, but I still get no positi've results. I investigated a bit further, and discovered that the card is *claiming* to be using Revision 0 of the emu0k chipset. Now, all other Audigy 2's claim to use revision 4 of the emu0k2.
WTF. I'm getting the feeling that I've been ripped off. I expected this thing to be a real Audigy 2, not a board that looks like an Audigy 2 with some other chipset.
So, if this card really has an Emu0K or Emu0K2 processor, please tell me exactly which it is. If not, I'd really love to know which chipset this card is actually using so I can write an appropriate driver for it (or exchange it for something else, if it's some POS 3rd-party chipset).
    Thanks.

I would also like to know whether it uses the same DSP as the Audigy 2 series (emu0k2). I would have bought a secondhand Audigy if this was the case. To the OP, I remember reading a review comparing the Value to a prototype version. If you look at the board, after the words "Sound Blaster Audigy 2" a space that used to be "004" is painted over with gold paint. Also if you look at the chip, it's a CA008 revision, whereas the ZS was an earlier CA002 revision and the Audigy LS was CA006. There's a small wire soldered on even that is rerouting a trace... Could that possibly be disabling some of the ZS functionality? Who knows. If you suspect otherwise, e-mail me @ [email protected] I definitely don't mind if I am getting more than I paid for, but I would like to know if I am getting ripped off. So again Creative, does the Audigy 2 Value use the same chipset as the Audigy 2 series?Message Edited by WiCKeD on 02-28-2005 09:32 PM

  • Error trying to run Audigy 2 Value driver inst

I recently purchased an OEM Audigy 2 value sound card that came with no driver installation CD. I have tried three times to download the drivers from the creative website and every time I have come up with this error while it is extracting:
    File error CRC, 0xf3b0b7f:0xeb4fd5b
I am installing this to a brand new computer that has never had any sound card on in it. The on board sound is still running if that makes a difference.
I have looked throughout the forum with no avail. Any help on this would be very much appreciated.

I have the EXACT same problem... I can't seem to get anywhere with it either.
I've noticed a few such posts on the forum, but unforunately there have been no replies.
If anyone out there knows a workaround, please let us know!

  • Audigy 2 Value left channel stopped working *complete

    Sony Vaio pcv-rs530
    P4 3.2 Ghz
    Gb Ram
    All-In-Wonder ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 28mb
Windows XP Home Edition v02' Service Pack 2
    Logitech Z-5300e 5. Speaker system
I've had my audigy 2 value for about two months now. I managed to install it after a huge adventure of wiping my c: dri've after my first failed installation which ended me with no sound and no hope of restoring it back to normal, except the wipe, of course. It worked for a while, two months, but then I was having issues with my video card, possibly due to overheating because my audigy 2 value was one empty slot away from it and the circulation of air was not enough to keep it cool.
I stopped getting video related crashes after I put my sound card to the last slot, effecti'vely taking out my fax/modem, which I never used in the first place, in order to put the audigy 2 in the last slot, farthest away from my ATI AIW Radeon 9800 Pro. That little modem was blocking the last slot, making it impossible to put my sound card there. Then I noticed a few days later that my front left speaker was not working. I switched the speakers around, and everything worked except for the speaker plugged into the green line ouput, more specifically, the left front speaker never worked.
I'm currently using Logitech's z-5300e 5. speakers system, and they worked fine up until recently where the front left channel will not work. I tested it out on my xbox, and the speakers work fine. Both left and right speakers were okay. I took out my old desktop speakers that came with my vaio and plugged it into the green line output, and even then the left speaker didn't work. The same thing happened when I plugged my headphones in. The left earphone never worked. Both the old and new speakers and the headphones work properly otherwise (when not plugged into the audigy 2). I'm thinking my line output left channel has stopped working on the sound card itself.
I noticed that if I pushed the speaker plug into the outlet halfway, the front left speaker worked, but when I tested the calibration -- the voice matching said "front right" through the front left speaker. Even with all the speakers connected in any configuration, there was never a mention of a "front left" speaker. I concluded that the front left channel on the audigy 2 has stopped working.
Is this assumption correct? If so, wow. How would I go about fixing this? Does it have something to do with the slot switching? I reinstalled the drivers and programs for the audigy 2 after I switched. Although it did not seem to have a problem with me switching the slots even when I didn't uninstall anything. It detected the hardware switch, and everything worked fine. Should I try switching back to the other slot and hope my video card doesn't become one with my motherboard? The warranty has expired on my audigy 2 value, and I don't think I'll be compensated if I have no warranty, correct? All the drivers are updated, and it <EM>has</EM> worked before.
I've heard of other people's audigy 2 values that have had other channels just fizzle out in a few months. Am I one of them? Any information would be really helpful! Thanks.Message Edited by Paulie on 05-2-2005 06:30 AM

If you're sure noone was funny and turned down the left channel in advanced tab of Surround Mixer for instance, perhaps the connector loosened on the board or the soldering went bad; since your warranty expired (check with the store first!) I'd have someone who knows his way with electronics and soldering irons have a look at it.
PS I have the Audigy 2 Value as well; so far it works good but had I known it was treated like the ugly little kid in the Creative family that noone really likes to deal with i'd have gotten the ZS.Message Edited by Marco on 05-2-2005 0:2 PM

  • Audigy 2 Value quest

How exactly is the audigy 2 value different from the other Audigy 2's? Does it use a different DSP? I want to know for sure if there would be any negati've impact on frame rate in games with an audigy 2 value versus the audigy 2 zs.

The FireWire port is exactly that, a FireWire port on the card. You can use FireWire to connect to DV cameras, FireWire devices like external harddri'ves, and to connect to another PC with FireWire (networking).
The Digital I/O module is an upgrade accessory that gives you more inputs/outputs. If you don't need FireWire or THX Certification, then you can use the Audigy 2 Value.
What kind of speakers will you be connecting to, and what will you be using the card for (mainly)?

  • Tvtime has no sound: no 'mixer' device in /etc? [~SOLVED]

    Hi everybody
Every audio app were workin fine in this location up to 1 or 2 days ago.
Got latest Alsa & edited /etc/modprobe.conf accordingly to alsa wikki a long time ago, removing anything but those lines:
    alias snd-card-0 snd-intel8x0
    alias sound-slot-0 snd-intel8x0
As of today, bmp, amarok, opera, mplayer have sound as allways, but tvtime has none (and that came out just in time for my single favorite tv show, you know that  ) :
    Running tvtime 1.0.1.
    Reading configuration from /etc/tvtime/tvtime.xml
    Reading configuration from /home/kozaki/.tvtime/tvtime.xml
mixer: Can't open device /dev/mixer, mixer volume and mute unavailable.
    tvtime uses '/dev/mixer:line' by default:
    option name="MixerDevice" value="/dev/mixer:line"/
And may use some others like 'pcm', 'vol', etc.
But it worked fine until 1 or 2 days ago, & I did not edit tvtime conf file since months !?
What I found is there's no 'mixer' device in /etc :
    [root@llewellyn kozaki]# find /etc -name "mixer*"
    [root@llewellyn kozaki]#
any clue about that pliz ?

unmuted 'Line' in alsamixer and TV sound is back ...even if tvtime shows same warning message
mixer: Can't open device /dev/mixer, mixer volume and mute unavailable.
OK i get it clearer now : sound comes directly to/from the 'In' jack on my mobo integrated sound chip, so I have no control on it (like with an audio CD plugged directly to the sound card I guess).
That was most probably /me having played with alsamixer #-|
Uh, what is that still absent 'mixer' device supposed to do anyway ?

  • Audigy 2 ZS and Surround Mixer in Windows 7

    +?
Ok, I just installed Windows 7 Enterprise on a new HP XW 4600 workstation (NL, Dutch). This is a clean install. I have a Audigy 2 ZS (SB0350) and I dont have the surround mixer. Here is what I did:
?Install Windows 7 Enterprise and take all the pathes from Microsoft.
    2.
?Intall the Audigy 2 ZS soundblaster? card in the computer
    3.
?After the boot up I ingnore the message ?found new hardware?
    4.
?I go to the Creative website and download the following programs
SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_8_00 and WAVESTD_PCAPP_LB_7_2_00? which are recommended for my sound card.
    5.
?I cant find the surround mixer, it is even not installed
    6.
?I try the ?webupdate? there are some updates and I install them all
    7.
    ?Again no Surround Mixer.
Can someone explain what I do or did wrong ?
I realy need the Surround Mixer !!

/Re: Audigy 2 ZS and Surround Mixer in Windows 7? i got problem with recording any sound. Recorded sounds are terrible. Sometimes playing sounds are terrible too. i should restart pc for fix playing terrible sound.
    i found 2 third-party driver but i didnt tried. Because of decription of 3rd-party driver ;
There is no DirectSound hardware acceleration on Windows XP 64-bit (x64)
The Audigy driver does not support 64-bit addressing, disabling the DirectSound hardware acceleration and causing multichannel sound to be played only in the stereo channels (front left/right).
    Workarounds:
    - install the 32-bit (x86) version of Windows XP.
    - limit to less than 4GB the amount of RAM available to Windows.
    - enable the ?Memory Hole? setting in the BIOS Setup, if your motherboard supports it.
Microphone issues on Windows 7/Vista 64-bit (x64) with 4GB?of RAM or more
Audigy driver does not support 64-bit addressing, resulting in random issues with the Microphone (static, robotic or distorted voice, white noise).
    Workarounds:
    - install the 32-bit (x86) version of Windows
    - limit the RAM available to Windows to less than 4GB
    - enable Memore Hole in BIOS Setup, if?your motherboard supports the setting
