Audigy 2 Video Editor - Inspire 5.1 Digital 5

How could I have sound with my Inspire 5. Digital 5700 with the digital DIN connector using a Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor Card ?
I have sound on 2 channels with the optical and/or coaxial cables, but I want to have the 5 channels thrue the DIN cable. Where must I put the connectors and how must I configure the parameters in my computer ?
I have the DIN-DIN connector and the DIN-Jack adaptator.
Thank you in advance for you answer.
Malou.

Daedalus3,
I know I've addressed this one before ... I have never heard of any Audigy soundcard, including Video Editor, taking a 5. compressed signal into the S/PDIF and recording it as a *.ac3 (for example). I do not know of commercial audio software apps that support this and anyway there would be an outcry from the RIAA because such a facility would remove all "roadbumps" to jacking commercial surround recordings at full resolution.
You can record a stereo uncompressed stream from the SPDIF (e.g. the output of a DAT player or of various other consumer audio devices).

  • Audigy 2 ZS / Inspire 5.1 Digital 5100 + DDTS-1

    Hi,
I've read the FAQs and various other posts about the digital output on the Audigy 2 ZS, and I just wanted to check I have understood it.
I have the Inspire 500 speaker set and external decoder. From what I have read am I don't think I can connect this to the Audigy 2 via the soundcard's optical out since it needs to be connected to a digital din input, rather than a standard optical input. Is this correct?
Assuming it is, could I replace the external decoder I currently have with a DDTS-00, which does have a din input? Could I then decode DD and DTS using that, and also have 5. output when playing games? If I can do this, how would I have to connect it all up?
The other thing is that I would also want to connect the decoder to a standalone DVD player, using either digital coax or optical.
I hope I have made myself clear, its just all rather confusing!
    Thanks in advance.

Anybody any ideas? Basically I just want to replace the 500 decoder with the DDTS-00, and be able to connect to the Audigy 2 ZS and DVD player if I can.
    Cheers

I have the above mentioned hardware
sound card works fine with analog --> headphones
But when i switch to "digital out only" i still hear sound in my headphones and ABSOLUTELY nothing on my speakers :-!
connected from SB card digital out to green din converter to digital in on decoder of speaker system.
am very interessted in knowing how to get my li'vedri've to work with the optical in/out and so on :-! which drivers am i to use?
tried reading the information on the floats, but im just even more confused than before i started using creatives "support" - pages ;-)

Hi! I have the same problem! The digital output doesn't work!
There was a driver with those the backend worked but the frontpanel didn't. With all the other drivers I tried there was no sound on my Inspire 5. digital 5700 when I used the DIN connection.
I need the Inspire 5. digital 5700 connected to the back of my PC. Is there anybody who can help?

  • Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor - recording audio from optical digital in - sound drops

    Hi guys
I've had an audigy 2 zs video editor for a couple of months now and it's greatly improved my audio output from my computer.
But the other day I started trying to record vinyl onto my computer directly.
In the past I've always used my hifi cd recorder deck, then ripped the audio off the cd.
So I have my turntable connected to my amp, and I use my minidisc deck as a DAC, then record using an optical from my minidisc DAC, to the optical input on the front of the audigy.
So I fire up the creative smart recorder software and start messing with the levels.
I also use a free bit of software from
    http://www.darkwood.demon.co.uk/PC/meter.html
called meterV which gives me a larger and more prominent read out of the level.
I then fine tune the output level on my DAC.
I have the stereo line out sockets on my audigy connected to an input on my hifi amplifier for listening to digital music etc.
So I start the vinyl and the sound starts coming through my DAC into my soundcard, the level readings start going, and the sound comes out of my hifi speakers.
My amp's switched to the audigy input - not the turntable
The problem is... every 30 seconds or so, the sound cuts out for 2-3 seconds and then resumes.
But the sound doesn't drop off on the level meters, or on the actual recording (recording 44.khz, 6bit wav file).
Only on the stereo line out of the audigy.
I ran the following test to see if the sound also cut out on the optical and coax outputs...
Whilst recording from the optical input, I've also tried recording to a minidisc portable from the optical out at the same time.
And the sound cuts out the same as when listening to the stereo line outs.
So the sound cuts off on the line out, the optical out, and also the coax out.
But this only happens when recording from the optical input.
When recording from the stereo line in - the sound doesn't cut out on any output!!!
The input selected in creative smart recorder is SPDIF.
This problem happens when smart recorder isn't even running - if I'm just listening to the line outs the sound cuts out.
But if I'm just playing back an MP3 or any sound, and there's nothing coming into the inputs, then playback is fine!!
So it's not a connection issue!
It doesn't seem to be triggered by sound frequencies - it seems to happen every 30-40 seconds no matter what is being recorded (it does the same thing when playing a CD so it's not just when using a turntable)
I've tried restarting the computer several times.
All the connections are properly seated.
I've had task manager loaded whilst this is happening to check CPU usage, and nothing - it just continues in a fairly straight line as normal. No spikes in CPU usage (I would have thought it unlikely that the video editor would be affected by such things anyway being an external box).
There is nothing else connected to USB - other than an internal memory card reader attached to a motherboard USB header.
And a wireless adaptor also connected to the motherboard - but the problem still happens when the wireless adaptor is disabled.
There's also nothing else connected to the USB ports on the Video Editor box.
    Machine spec:
    Shuttle SN4G2-v3
    AMD Athlon XP 3000+
    GB memory
    80GB IDE HDD, 2 x external Lacie FireWire 250GB dri'ves
    LG dual layer dvd/rw/ram
    Win XP Pro SP2
I've not upgraded firmware or drivers - just used the installation from the CD.
What confuses me is why this only happens when recording from the optical input, and it affects all outputs but the recording and the level monitor show no trace of the temporary loss in sound!
So the audigy is receiving the sound, but it just drops off the outputs for some reason!
    Any ideas?
I hope the above explanation is clear.
    Thanks
    Ben

Ok, so I go to Creative Device Control, and on the PCI/USB tab I've changed the sampling rate to 48khz.
    It was previously at 44.kHz
The bit depth is still at 6bit
Now the problem seems to be solved.
The problem was only with the output from the device. And now there are no skips!!
    Excellent!
Why has that solved it though?
I've read on other forums (head-fi) that the audigy cards do not run at 44.kHz nati'vely so the sound has to be downsampled.
Is that skipping an artefact of that downsampling process?
Will having that set at 48kHz, but recording to a 44.kHz 6bit wav file theoretically reduce the quality of the recording - compared to having it set at 44.kHz and recording a wav at 44.kHz?
On the SPDIF tab the input sample rate is shown as 44.kHz - as that's what is output by the DAC in my minidisc deck.
But when I changed the sampling rate on the PCI/USB tab, the SPDIF output sampling rate also changed to 48kHz.
This means if I wanted to record from the optical output, whilst also recording to the computer, and that device only supported 44.kHz - I can't do that?
You listed some main reasons to the truth, why Creative SB cards are not very popular on serious use (DAW). I.e. need for resampling. X-Fi's in creation mode are (least said to be) the only ones not resample everything.
There is a setting for "Bit-Accurate-Recording" (digital modes only) --> have you tried if that works on your recordings?

  • Trouble using Creative Audigy 2 ZS Video editor with an external Dolby / DTS Deco

I had purchased a Creative Audigy 2 ZS Video editor for following two requirements,
I wanted to be able to Digitize video from almost any source.<
And I also wanted to have an external Audio Card that I could share between my Home Desktop / Laptop and let Digital Audio Signal get to my Yamaha Reciever that powers a Bose Home Theater Speaker System.<
    My typical connection setup is,
Desktop / Laptop >> USB 2.0 Shielded Cable >> Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor >> Optical Out >> LC Optical Cable >> DVD Optical In of Yamaha reciever
I do not have WinDVD or any other program that can allow SPDIF in Pass Through Mode, so I use VLC as my media player. While playing DVD / other DivX / XVid videos with Dolby / DTS / AC3 audio track I get the option of setting the audio to SPDIF Pass through Mode and that's how I use it.
It had been working fine for a while (6 months) and then I was not using the card for a while (been busy at work). And since then I'm not able to use this in SPDIF Pass Through Mode any more.
Each time I select that mode in VLC the player kinda freezes and plays Media File with breaks, making it just un-usable. In case I leave the player audio option to Stereo output?mode it works fine, but I do get only Analogue Audio deli'vered to the External Recei'ver and to say the least, after listening to DTS / Dolby audio this simply doesn't cut it.
I've already updated the latest drivers from Creative Site, have tried the card with two different Dell Laptops (D820 and D80) and my home desktop. It gives exactly same result in all cases.
I've not tested DTS Decoding output from the Device itself, 'cause I don't have sufficient cables to take decoded output from the device and send that to the receiver. But in case I opt that option in VLC player The player keeps playing Video without any issues. I can't validate if it's decoding correctly or not, 'cause I don't have cables to connect all that outputs to the receiver.
Can my problem be related to anything on the Optical connection cable itself?
If someone could shade some light on this issue that would be really helpful.

    Hello,
I have the exact same problem and would very much like to know if there are 64bit drivers available.

I bought an Audigy 2 NX which isn't able to capture and encode 5. audio streams. Now I bought the Audigy 2 Video Editior and it doesn't seem to capture 5. either. I have a digital cable receiver connected to the SPDIF input of Audigy and have the receiver set to play a 5. Dolby Digital stream. However, all Audigy 2 does is playing a crackling sound. All encoders at the Device Management are enabled. Doesn't the Audigy 2 Video Editor support 5. input streams?

  • Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor as pure audio card & capturing devi

    Hi everyone,
May be a stupid question, but since I'm a newbie to this forum, please forgive me :-)
I'm just considering to buy the Audidy 2 ZS Video Editor and wonder whether I could also use it as a pure audio capturing sound card. Or does it only work with video+audio combined? If it can do pure audio capturing, what is the difference to the Audigy 2 ZS for Notebooks (except that it must be connected via USB and not via PCMCIA and that it can capture video as well ...)?
Can someone tell me which digital audio formats the Video Editor supports?
    Thanks a lot in advance!
    Best regards
    BSE
PS: Or should I have send this better to the Video Editor forum?

    BSE,
Yes, Video Editor is a full Audigy 2 ZS soundcard as well as a video capture device - there are two circuit boards in the box. You can capture stereo uncompressed audio into the Line In and SPDIF inputs just like any Audigy. The video portion has its own separate audio inputs.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor maximum bitra

Hello, i'm new to this forum and video capturing and I have a question.
I'm seriously considering buying Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor to capture some of my old laserdiscs to DVD.
But I would like to know, what is the maximum bitrate (kbit/s?)I can record with it, in Mpeg2 format.
Also can I capture picture via the digital video in and record the sound via the optical digital in at the same time?

  • Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor - Issues/Updates Comi

I purchased my Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor in December with every intention that it was going to work with Vista. I was really upset when no driver was available at the Vista Launch, but finally a "Beta" driver was released which restored?some functionality. There are many issues however:
When the initial support plan for Vista was posted there was NO MENTION of no video capability being removed from the driver. Only recently this was added to the FAQ. I find this highly decepti've. This is advertised as a expensi've superior external video encoder - make it work as advertised!!!
    <
There is currently no official support for hardware accellerated 5. audio and THX decoding. When will this be coming?
    <
There is currently no support for connecting and disconnnecting headphones from the external box. Audio will switch to the headphones when connected, but when the headphones are removed you have to go manually into windows and change the settings back - a royal pain!!!
    <
Digital Output and Inputs are not working.
    <
Volume control adjustments, including muting on the external box is not working.
    <
Remote control functions are not working to control media players.
    <
You basicallly can get audio out and that's it. Come on Creative Creative... this is close to a $400 paperweight!

  • Pink noise in audigy 2 zs video editor!!!

Hello! I'm italian so sorry for my bad english!...
Yesterday i've bought a audigy 2 zs video editor for my work... i've installed drivers and software (updated on creative page)... i was ready to capture video and audio, BUT after capturing the file has audio problems...
I can see video (good quality), but the audio track was corrupted... you can hear only a noise... like pink noise (the noise used to test P.A. audio system)!!!
    WHY??
    My Pc configuration is this:
    AMD 64 3400+
    Gb Ram
    2 hd 250 Gb
    Ati Radeon X700

    LpGroove,
Take a look at the Movie Creation Guide (in your product and also at: http://www.soundblaster.com/products...ationGuide.pdf) chapter 7, and page 7-6 in particular. Make sure your audio source is connected to the correct audio inputs (near the video inputs) and the Creative Mixer settings are correct.

In Windows XP there were always two devices listed:

I've tried to do the steps mentioned here <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://forums.creative.com/t5/Windows-Vista/WILL-YOU-SUPPORT-THE-AUDIGY-2-ZS-VIDEO-EDITOR-IN-VISTA/m-p/3602"]http://forums.creative.com/t5/Windows-Vista/WILL-YOU-SUPPORT-THE-AUDIGY-2-ZS-VIDEO-EDITOR-IN-VISTA/m-p/3602[/url] with both old and more recent XP/Vista 32/64 drivers and I still can't get the device installed and VidCap properly running.

please help how could u adjust the frame size and the video bit rate of audigy 2 video editor before capturing

why is it audigy 2 ve is recognized as unknown msdv at the source of ulead video studio?

Thank you for the reply split0,
as for the informati've post, thank you for the compliment, i tend to not open a thread at all unless i have spent enough time on the problem and searched around enough for solutions, and after that i only post if it has enough info regarding everything in inside the thread.
In regard to the known incompatibility list, unfortunatly this is one of the things i checked beforehand already.
The PCMCIA adapter in my laptop is a Texas Instruments PCI-8x2/7x2/6x2 CardBus-controller.
Which is one of the most common controllers and should normally not cause any troubles at all, also in another thread on this forum i found a differant driver for it, i even tried that with no result sadly.
At the moment personally i am thinking the whole problem lies within not being able to uninstall the onboard sound card to full extent somehow, and while i posted here i also have all this info in a direct message sent to creative, and even acer for that matter.
In hopes of some kind of solution for this so i can keep my hopes up for not having to return the card itself.
What bugs me is that there is option at all to disable the onboard sound through the bios.
Because right now whenever i install the ZS notebook card it checks hardware for the onboard first installing it again, then setting priority for the zs notebook.
This is what seems to result in the crashes through a conflict in drivers in my idea, but thats just a hunch which i cant do anything about currently in regard to testing unless someone has an idea for me to try.

    Hi
I've got the Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor and, as my front room decoder has just gone kaput, I'd like to use it as a decoder without having to have it plugged into my computer. However, I've run an optical cable from my DVD player to the A2 ZS VE and connected it to my 5. speakers - but no sound comes out. Do I give up here?

Anyone know whether this is possible?
I'd love to be able to re-write the functionality of the supplied remote control.
Any chance of you guys at Creative releasing a small app which anyone could use to trigger a custom command on any remote control action?
    Thanks
