Audigy 2 ZS and digital I/O mod

Device manager states I have an Audigy 2 ZS, I'm running windows XP SP2. It has the digital jack on the top of it, and I purchased the "Digital I/O" module because it had an optical adapter on it. It's currently on my media center and I'm trying to get it connected to my surround sound. I've read a few threads about enabling the digital out only on the windows settings and I've done so. I still don't see any light coming through the cable.
Is the Audigy 2 ZS not compatible with the digital i/o module? If not then why did I pay so much for an audigy 2 / why is there a digital out on it / how am I supposed to get an optical signal from it's Thanks in advance guys!

  • Soundblaster Audigy 2 Value and Digital I/O Mod

I recently bought this card, and the shop I bought it at did not sell the Digital I/O Module. I was wondering if anyone knew somewhere in Australia where I could buy it.

Only place I've ever seen any of the bays sold is on Creatives UK online store and then its for an A2ZS so not sure it will work for you for basically 80 pounds with VAT. Here's a link for it http://uk.europe.creative.com/shop/product.asp?prod=588

  • Audigy 2 ZS and Digital I/O module compatibili

Hi,?Looking to build a HTPC and thinking about using the Audigy 2 ZS as my sound card. I have a question about it though. Accourding to this- - http://us.creative.com/local//produc...es/sbchart.asp?the Digital I/O module is not compatible with the 2 ZS. I downloaded the manual for the Audigy 2 ZS and it says to use a 3.50 mm (/8-inch) mono-to-RCA cable and I cannot find one of those anywhere, and it appears to me that the Digital I/O module does basically the same thing. So will the Digital I/O work with the 2 ZS or does anyone know where I can get that 3.5 mm mono to RCA cable, it has to be a coaxil digital cable though.
My goal is to have Dolby Digital sound just my my DVD player I have now only with my PC so I can have one media hub, my HTPC. Also if anyone has built a HTPC and has a good setup please reccomend Im open to all suggestions,? Thanks for anyhelp at all.

    sprint_9,
Yes, you're right. The Digital I/O module isn't compatible with the Audigy 2 ZS soundcard.
You should be able to find a 3.5mm mono to RCA cable easily from your local audio/electronic stores if not, you can also get a 3.5mm stereo to dual RCA cable for the same purpose. Take note, only one end of the RCA cable has the audio signal(Sorry, can't remember whether it's the white or the red end).
You can also find such cable from online stores like this.

Hi everyone and first of all thank you for your time. The problem is pretty simple, I get no sound no matter what. :smileytongue:?I looked around in the forums and the only thread I found relating to this are concerns about the DTS capabilities and such. Everyone claims to have sound using the Digital Stereo setting in their XBOX well this doesn't work for me. I saw a few places where they sugested to unmute certain option in windows and I belei've I unmuted everything... I am not very good with the audio aspect of computers so I took a few screenshots to help you help me. :smileyvery-happy:?Just incase?I tried the red and the white wire on numerous occasion (because honestly I have no clue which one is the right one) and I never managed to get anything out of it... please help me!!! ?[img"]http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2/sinoir/creative_console02.jpg">[img"]http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2/sinoir/creative_console0.jpg">[img"]http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2/sinoir/audio_conole.jpg">[img"]http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2/sinoir/windows_option.jpg">

Stuck in headphone (optical digital-out port) mode. What do I do? Plugging and unplugging headphone jack no help.

Do you see a red light in the headphone jack?? If you do, then the microswitch is stuck and you need to turn it off. Try poking it with a toothpick.
If you don't see a red light, then try resetting the SMC and PRAM and see if these helps. Here are the links.

  • SB0358 and the Digital I/O mod

Will the digital i/o module work on the Audigy 2 ZS that comes with the Dell (see subject for product code). I just set up a 65" plasma and want to connect my computer via coaxial or optical to my sound system. I just picked up the Yamaha RX-Z9 and want the best possible sound. But on the web page it states that it will not work with any other card. I figure that this is a value card as it is sold with the Dell, but would like to make sure before buying the $5 device and then not being able to return it.
    Thanks,

  • Audigy 2 ZS and external digital mixer and digital cd pla

    Guru's,
I've got a problem getting a sound from my Audigy 2 ZS card in combination with an external digital mixer and a digital cd player. One channel of the mixer receives data from the PC (Audigy 2 ZS) and one channel receives data from the CD player. The mixer is connected to a dolby surround system- dvd player that connected to the speakers. When I try the digital out I don't get any sound, when I use one of the analog ports I do get a sound. What is here the ideal set-up and why can't I use the digital out ?

  • Audigy 2 ZS Notebook - Digital Out Greyed

I just purchased a Toslink to minijack connector to hook my Audigy 2 ZS up to my Denon 3808CI. I have hooked up the optical cable to my Denon and have no problems getting sound thru the speakers. The issue is that I cannot select the "Digital output" in the THX Setup Console, it can only be set to Analog which doesn't even allow me to get 2. audio, only 2.0.
I have the most updated drivers installed and the Creative Feature Mode is set to "Advanced". I have tried everything to get the optical output box to be selectable but nothing has worked.
Does anyone know how to fix this, it is really bugging me out? Thanks!

Did you set the encoding to be done by an?external device and also try by enabling the bit-accurate playback?jutapaMessage Edited by jutapa on 02-02-20080:0 PM

  • AUDIGY 2 ZS AND GIGAWORKS DVD PLAYBACK H

    Hi
I have just purchased an Audigy 2 ZS and the Gigaworks speakers, I have a problem that is driving me nuts.
Whether I use Power DVD or Windows media player I cant get DVDS to sound right
If i use Dolby prologic 2 or CLMEI-2 settings I get either a robotic kind of sound or low bass
If I use no effects in the DVD software and the CMSS or 2 I get my 7. sound but the voices in DVDs are coming from the side and rear speakers too. As far as Im aware I should only be getting ambient sounds and the voices should only be coming from the front.
Could anyone please shed some light on this, what settings should i use to get:
    7. sound with the bass sounding loud
Voices only coming from front/center speakers
    Thanks for any advice.

    Hi asamp,
I reckon both you and me are "PC DVD Enthusiasts" (though I do also play a hell lots of games).
() Regarding Hardware / Software Decoding
IMHO, hardware decoding (by your soundcard) should be much better than software decoding (by your DVD software), both in terms of sound quality and efficiency (any latency), along with alleviating workload from your CPU. Hardware solution is almost always better than Software solution.
    (2) Regarding EAX with DVD Movies
IMHO, EAX are perfect for games but bad for music & movies. In games surely we all want positional audio along with realistic environmental effects such as reverb and occlusion. But for ordinary MP3 playback and especially for DVD movies, I definitely wouldn't want any artificial funky effects such as "Opera Hall" or "Jazz Club".
    (3) Regarding CMSS with DVD Movies
CMSS is good for upmixing ordinary stereo contents to simulated surround sounds (or "parallel stereo" mode), similar in functions to Dolby Pro Logic II or DTS Neo:6. But for DVD movies (and I mean DVD movies, not those lame DivX / XVid rips), audio contents are already encoded by Dolby Digital / Dolby Digital EX / DTS / DTS-ES for "real" surround sounds. There is definitely no need to enable CMSS which won't do you any good at all but bad. A quote from Guru 3D about CMSS with DVD movies:
    http://www.guru3d.com/article/sound/246/4/
<EM><FONT color=#0033ff>I tried to enable 3D Creative MultiSpeaker Surround, or 3D CMSS for short. As I explained pages ago, this feature will simulate surround sound on two speakers (CMSS2) or it will simulate surround sound on 5. or 6. system from a stereo source (CMSS). With multi-channel the effect is not subtle and actually is highly dis-recommended. Things change though when you are watching a movie that does not have multi-channel sound. As stated earlier, XVID and DIVX, a large sum of these movies are recorded in 2 channel Stereo or 2.0 DD sound. That's where 3D CMSS comes in quite handy. Much like Dolby Pro Logic the spatial orientation of 3D CMSS kicked in nicely as you get a feeling of an Dolby Digital 5. movie. Voices are placed to the middle speaker, you can hear action in the rear, the explosions came from the subwoofer, yes Shrek 2 was sounding awesome I know this is a bit of a subjecti've yet bold statement, but 3D CMSS on the X-Fi might even sound better then Dolby Pro Logic (2). Ehm, I don't think it can get much better then this in this 2 channel mode. Of course Dolby Digital and DTS (ES) is the much preferred option here as it blows all this away.</EM>

  • Audigy 4 = Still no digital surround output for games? *si

C'mon guys. How long is it gonna take for you to add digital surround encoding, so we can plug a single digital cable from the sound card to a home receiver's Dolby Digital/DTS input? Before you reply and say that the current Audigy's already do this for DVDs and games with AC-3 sound, let me say that I am not talking about that. Nearly all games on the market have 4+ channels of sound (and are not DVD/AC-3 games) and there still isn't a sound card on the market that puts out a digital encoding of this multi-channel sound. The only solution that did this is the now discontinued nVidia Soundstorm on their AMD nForce 2 chipsets.
The only possible reasons I can think of are:
) Licensing fees from Dolby labs to encode content are cost-prohibiti've
    2) The CPU overhead to encode everything in AC-3 would be high enough to have an adverse effect on games' framerate
    3) No company thinks there is enough of a demand to engineer such an option.
Can we get a comment from Creative Labs, other than "there are no plans to implement this in the foreseeable future" =)
Having said this, I still like the Audigy sound cards, but I think this added feature would appeal to a larger audience than you might realize. At the very least, you could post a poll or do some online research in the enthusiast community to gauge possible demand.
    Thanks

    Bollwerk,
I will pass your suggestions on to our suggestion group.
Do take into account that currently real time Dolby Digital encoding results in a lower sound quality than what we currently are producing on our Audigy 2 ZS and Audigy 4 Pro cards from our analog outputs. The signal that is produced by the onboard sound cards that do this encoding is encoded at a quality that is below the standard quality found on DVD movies and Games that incorporate Dolby Digital content. This also does result in a higher taxing of the processor which then results in more potential for slower performance in games.

  • Producer consumer with analog and digital inputs and outputs

    Hi everyone,
I am working on a control system program for some practical test work. Currently I am working on the data acuisition component of the Labview program. My architecture is produced-consumer loops with a que. My system will have analog inputs, analog outputs, digital inputs and digital outputs. It's not a time critical sytem, but I would like all of the data acquisition to be synchronised. I have attached my program as it is at the moment. I am having trouble getting all of the data into the que since I have two data types. Also, I'm not sure if i've synchronised the four read/write sequences correctly. I would greatly appreciate if somebody could take a look at my program and give me some advice. Thanks in advance.

Robert, the specific error that I get is:
Error -200462 occurred at DAQmx Start Task.vi:6
    Possible reason(s):
Generation cannot be started because the output buffer is empty.
Write data before starting a buffered generation. The following actions can empty the buffer: changing the size of the buffer, unreserving a task, setting the Regeneration Mode property, changing the Sample Mode, or configuring retriggering.
Task Name: Heater testing lab digital outputs
This error occurs at the 'DAQmx write.vi' function. I just want to sent one sample per second, for each channel. I would like the producer and consumer loops to each run once every second.
I have attached part of my code with just the data acquisition and writing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Audigy 2 Value and Windows 7 64bit driver don't work

my first Audigy SE before Audigy 2 Value (SB0400) worked perfect on Windows 7 64bit
with Audigy 2 Value SB0400 i tried 3 drivers , including the beta from the creative support , original and daniel_k driver and after reboot the windows hangs at LOGO and stays there.

Re: SB Audigy 2 ZS and Windows 7 - Full Package driver?T While Creative has written new drivers and some applications for Windows 7/Vista for the Audigy, they have not re-written or updated all of the original applications on the CD. This card is very old now. What Daniel K. did was take all of the applications or most of them, and tweaked them to properly install and include themselves in the registry on operating systems other than Windows XP. For the full and most recent package, check here:
    http://forums.creative.com/t5/Sound-...009/td-p/53838
If the application you want is not included in his package, then you can try downloading the official Creative version and install it on your system in "compatibility mode" by right clicking the file, and choosing properties, and then the compatibility tab and choosing "Windows XP service pack 2 or 3" and it may or may not function.
