Audigy 2 ZS and Vista quest

Has creative released drivers that support the audigy 2 zs for vista yet, ie working EAX in games without alchemy? The new way they set up their driver notes on the download page makes it difficult to decipher since they batch both vista and xp together now.
And if they haven't, is there any soundblaster card that I could buy that is fully supported in Vista?
This is the only reason I have not upgraded to Vista. Any response would be wonderful!

It is no 7. support, only 5.
You can try to install this:
http://nomoregoatsoup.wordpress.com/2007/09/2/unofficial-audigy-series-software-cd-for-win2000-xp-server-2003-vista-3264-bit/
but before you do completely uninstall all Creative drivers and software from system. I recommend this method;

  • Big Problems with Audigy 4 and Vista 64

Hi there,?I got the Audigy 4 running under Vista 64 Bit. The onboard Soundmax, connected to the speakers in my?Monitor?is acti've, too. The Audigy is connected to a 5. System from Teufel. With XP64 all ist working fine: The systemsounds come out of the monitorspeakers and the sound generated by mediaplayer etc. come from the 5. Sytem.Under Vista it is not possible to get a fine sound from the 5. System - if something is working, then only the satellites are working. The subwoofer is quiet. Also the sound from the 5. system is very bad, with a lot of breaks and so on. What?s this? How can I resolve this problem?By XP64 I have the possibility to change settings in Mediasoucecenter ... here I got nothing... rgds?McInternet?

I'm running the Audigy 4 with Vista 64-bit and it's working okay for me. It's not great - and it's pretty substantially crippled, but I'm getting sound. I would love to have proper EAX support and just some simple bass and treble controls, but it is working for me (using the March 9th drivers).

Yes it is called trying to install the wrong driver for your card. Will work much better if you try installing the correct one,
    SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_8_000.exe
Also helps if you click on the "Show Details" link on the download page, then you would see that the one you tried to install doesn't support your card,
    Requirements:
Microsoft Windows Vista 64-bit, Windows Vista 32-bit, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 or Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004
Sound Blaster Audigy Value/SE/LS, or Sound Blaster Li've! 24-bit audio devices
whereas the correct driver shows the following,

  • SB Audigy OEM and Vista with SP

I've just purchased the Audigy OEM with the external SPDIF connection. I have plugged this in to my amp (Marantz 9200) and can get sound using Vista Media Centre and DTS or Dolby sound ok. I'm unable to play any music however via the SPDIF connector. Does anybody know a fix for this? Will music play via media player via optical/coax, or do you have to connect the single pin to stereo output? Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately if you read the release notes for the Vista compatible driver it tells you not to use it on your particular sound card ;(?http://us.creative.com/support/downl...rtype=&x=2&y=7?Notes:
DO NOT?install this driver for Sound Blaster Li've! 24-bit, Sound Blaster Audigy LS, Sound Blaster Audigy SE, or Sound Blaster Audigy Value.<However when you tell the site you have an Audigy Value card it directs you to these incompatible drivers

  • No rear speaker sound with Audigy 4 and Vista x64

I recently upgraded to Vista x64. I downloaded the 6.0..24 driver for x64. I also loaded MediaSource for x64. I am using analog 5. surround speakers from Dell. This setup works fine when I boot into XP pro (with the XP drivers), but I only get front, center and Sub in Vista x64. Does anyone have any ideas for this?

Not sure what to tell you, hopefully someone will be able to help. One curious thing though is that according to my Sound properties in Control Panel SPDIF is working on my Audigy 4,

I have a strange problem with my audio in Vista. I have a Creative Audigy 2 and Creative 6700 speakers. My full system specification is below but please note I did not have this issue in my previous Vista build - its only happening since I did a reinstall. Anyway, when I swich on the speakers using the remote control unit for the 6700 speakers the sound comes on but then it turns down. I have to then increase the volume by a large amount for it to start playing sound again and then turn it down to listening volume. This issue is not application specific - it happens in everything: Winamp, WMP, games, etc etc?I'm using [color="#000000"]Creative Sound Blaster Audigy series Vista Driver 2.2.0002 and I've tried reinstall several times. I've tried doing diagnostic startup etc using msconfig in case something was conflicting and its still happening.

Have you checked the volume button? It might be physically stuck. To determine whether a hardware repair is needed, you need to follow these steps:
    1. Try doing a hard reset:
Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/wake button simultaneously for about 15 seconds and release when the Apple logo appears.
After that: test the device to see whether the issue is solved.
    2. If the issue is not solved, you should backup the device and restore it as new.
    In that case, use: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
NB: set up as a NEW device because a software issue will be in the backup.
If the issue persists after restoring as new, you should offer the device for service.
If you get specific error messages/codes in iTunes when updating/restoring, check this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694 for causes and solutions
    Good luck

  • Audigy SE and Windows Vista Is

Hi:?In my computer, I have the SB Audigy SE card. I did a full install (not an upgrade) of Vista Ultimate in January. At this time, I had no issues with my sound. Everything worked as it should. Recently, and it is hard to specify when -- but it may have been around the time I downloaded and installed the "Vista" driver for the soundcard -- the sound on my computer got noticably lower - even when at 00%. Whereas, prior to this occurrence, when I put full power on my speakers and on the computer, the sound would result in 0/0. Now, when i put full power on my speakers and on the computer, the sound would be about a 4/0 (tops). I still hear all the sounds fine - no muddiness -- but it just is not loud (even at 00% volume).
    Any suggestions?Thanks. Scott

Hi Scott! I hope you still check out this topic. I have Vista Ultimate as well. Believe the drivers that came with Vista, worked fine. I'm pretty sure they did. But with the driver as of July 09, 2007, my volume is very low. I, as well, have to turn my speakers and Windows volume up. I hope Creative can fix this problem, if possible. When I had XP, which I didn't use the July 09, 2007 driver. That driver is for XP and Vista, in one file. But there seems to be something wrong with it. It's mostly a case with Vista. I sure hope Creative reads this topic, or gets informed on it.

  • Audigy 2 ZS and Vista - updated drivers, now no sound

I was running Windows XP Pro and updated to Vista Home Premium. I installed the Audigy 2 ZS Vista beta drivers and the sound worked fine. I recently downloaded the new drivers (SBAXVSD_PCDRV_LB_2_2_0002) and now I have no sound Everything seems find in the control panel, no conflicts, it says the sound card is working, but the speaker icon in the system tray has a little red X on it and claims that there is no audio device installed. I have tried reinstalling the beta drivers, but they no longer work. I've tried several complete driver deletes and reinstalls, no joy.... Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there a solution?

A little bit off topic here, but 64bit does not mean more performance at all lol.
Sure, but there are in some cases drastic performence diferences. Under a fresh installed Vista X64 i have less CPU usage, as under 32 bit. But of course X64 uses more RAM (some tasks are double 32 and 64 bit). But the main reason I have more performence is, that the games I often play, get almost a boost. Dont ask me why, but under 64 bit EAW and FOC have the same FPS as under 32 bit. But under X64 I use a bit more Details and a higher resolution. (both are 32 bit games, so its a bit funy )?______________________?Sure there are other ways to install the drivers. But if some Setup dosent work, the first thing I try is to get it via Divice Management. And as this worked for me, I dont waste time to try other methods (Had bad experience, you can break the driver faster than install it *G*)?______________________?Some Questions I have left (after a few hours undr X64 with Creative Drivers):?Could it be, that the driver causes sometimes havy CPU usage?Could it also be, that the driver causes some lags, after you copy a file (the end sound, copy is finihed, but takes more time for "final finish", than without the drivers) - I know that Vista has some problems, on some PCs with copy, and that MS has an inoficial Patch (but dosent help for my PC so far)

*Microphone , Audigy Se and Windows 7 64bit's I have wasted several hours today trying to resolve this issue upto and including trawling the internet for a solution and completely removing and reinstalling drivers from disc and updating twice. Ultimately I downloaded an update from WIndows - Absolutely nothing, nada works!
I have the Mic Jack for my headphones plugged into the blue line in port - tried and tested on my system card (which works) but I consistently get Line--in Currently Unavailablke for this port suggesting that Creative are totally out to lunch on this one.
I have right-clicked and set levels, tried setting it as default, etc, etc, etc... nothing.
Has anyone succesfully got their mic to work uunder Win 7 64bit's

Hope someone has a fix for this because this machine is just one reboot away from going out the frogging window!!!

    'sHi,
Are you using this driver? Are you getting no sound from your microphone or is nothing being recorded?
Please go to Control Panel, Sound make sure that the Microphone option is set as default and that the mic levels are adjusted accordingly, not mute.

  • Audigy 2 ZS, Vista x64: Finally got bass redirection working!

=Audigy 2 ZS, Vista x64: Finally got bass redirection working!B Hey guys,
I have hooked a Teufel Concept G to my Audigy 2 ZS. The Speakers do not have internal cross mix, so unless the sound card provides a bass signal there will be NO bass at all. This has not been a problem under linux, since it automatically configures the sound card to send out bass, but very frustrating in Windows Vista x64. GTA4 is no fun without bass ;-)
After endless searching and messing with different drivers (breaking the whole vista sound system) I coincidently got bass redirection (and CMSS2 apparently) working today.
These are the steps I took:
. Fresh install of Windows Vista x64
    2. Installation of Audigy 2 drivers provided by WindowsUpdate, did not download from Creative Labs
    3. Use an old CtPanel-App which actually could activate bass redirection and CMSS2?
    I uploaded the App:?
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=L6J0ZJVA
If you start the App it will take ages until it pops up, but then it works just fine. Feedback appreciated!
    regards

I also have the same problem, sound stop working after getting SP2, I updated vista to SP2 because I want to update to windows 7, with win 7 I have try all the drivers without success I still have no sound and with some drivers I get a blue screen. After 2 restarts windows 7 ask me to fix the problem with restore and vola everything works ok but no sound.

  • Request for advice on Audigy 2, Audigy RX and ASIO

I believe this may be my first posting on this forum although I have visited many times. I'm not a techie and a lot of the jargon is lost on me so apologies if I go off track a bit.
I am a big BIG fan of the Audigy 2 and I had been using it very happily on my Windows XP machines for at least 6 or 7 years and 3 rebuilds. When I upgraded to Windows Vista and then 7 (reluctantly) all hell broke loose.
Let me explain briefly how I use the card. I record and perform music tracks and I also regularly broadcast through a digital radio stream. Using the "What U Hear" recording setting I record and broadcast voice on mic simultaneously with backing tracks. The recording facility and EAX functions, particularly reverb, were therefore essential to me. It was a sombre moment when I lost them in the Windows upgrades, which turned to panic soon after trialling replacements from various manufacturers, Creative included.
I had a common problem with all of them; latency.
I must have tried about a half dozen or so alternatives. Each were PCIe connectivity, each had ASIO functionality and each had an infuriating latency delay between input and output (singing and hearing) that despite being milliseconds made it impossible to perform or record. I had to return them all.
The problems Audigy had with Windows after XP are already well documented and it was only thanks to the extraordinary efforts of certain enthusiasts developing upgraded drivers etc. (Thank you Mr K!) that I was able to maintain use of my beloved Audigy 2. It has rallied magnificently through much adversity and I persevered with the minor anomalies that I was unable to resolve.
For example, changing the default recording device from microphone to What U Hear and vice versa (through Windows audio settings since the Audigy panel can't do it now) would indicate that the change was successful but doesn't actually activate until I reboot. Never got to the bottom of that that and I could live with it but recently there have been some other glitches.
Music playback (on any software) will drop randomly to terrible static needing a reboot to reset.
Skype voice sounds awful to whoever is listening to me. On the rare occasion I get it working I save the settings (I have tried numerous fixes) only to find that the problem returns next time I reboot. There seems to be no consistency to the cause.
The Audigy RX looks like it will do the job for me but I am concerned about the latency issue. Is it related to the ASIO function?. As I said earlier I am NOT a techie; only through trial and error did I manage to keep the Audigy 2 going for this long.
ASIO I've read about and it seems now to be an industry standard, supposedly to improve performance but so far I have found quite the opposite. I'm not sure what it really is, how it works or if I need it. I don't think Audigy 2 had it and that was fine for me.
So please help; what can I do about this cursed latency?

oh, and I also have two LaCie NAT drives with ethernet connections which I'd like to be able to access from the iMac and the MacBook Pro...
    Thanks!
