Audigy 2 ZS audio out to External Receiver Deco

Can any one help me? I followed the instructions on how to connect the analog audio line outputs of my Audigy 2 ZS to my external Recei'ver(the 5. analog inputs); But the problem that I am getting into, is that I increase the receiver volume Way Way Way up (in the +dB range) to actually here something at a dessent level, and still the sound are not enjoyable as I usually do when I directly connect my DVD player directly into the receiver (the reciever does the audio decoding). When I switch to another audio source, it would have almost blowup my speakers.
I have been trying to bypass the decoding from the card, and use its digital out to connect to my receiver. The other problem is that it is a SPDIF digital output on the card, but my receiver has only standard optical/coaxial digital inputs and no SPDIF. Are there any converters/adapters out there?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Yamaha RX-V371 Receiver
I have two Twin Frozr iii 2gb 6950 cards and am attempting to use the HDMI on the video card solely for 5.1 audio out to my receiver while using video through the DVI jack of the same card directly to my monitor without success.
-Audio functions if I run the HDMI from the card into my receiver, then out to my Asus VG236 monitor.
-Audio functions when I run from the card to my receiver then out to my plasma tv.
-Audio functions if I have the DVI run directly to the Asus VG236 monitor and HDMI to the receiver then plasma tv (only in dual display and the tv must be on for audio to function this way. If I turn the tv off even though the receiver is still on the audio stops working and windows sound lists the 'AMD HDMI Output' as not plugged in).
-Audio even fuctions when I run DVI to the monitor and HDMI to the receiver, then out to the HDMI port on the same monitor but the monitor will only run at 60hz this way even when DVI is selected on the monitor, as though it defaults to the HDMI when dvi and hdmi are both plugged into the monitor.
And if i run the hdmi to the receiver "HDMI IN" port without using the "HDMI OUT" port from the receiver to anything, like my tv or monitor, the sound doesn't work and in windows sound the "AMD HDMI Output" is listed as "not plugged in" .
I purchased this monitor for the true 120hz capabilities, the HDMI on this monitor doesn't support 120hz, the maximum is 60hz. DVI is required to run at 120hz. I don't see any option in windows sound settings or CCC to resolve this.
I have also tried disabling onboard audio in BIOS with no effect.
For now i'm running the audio out my MOBO jack through an optical cable to the receiver but optical only supports 2.1 sound.
Any suggestions you can offer would be appreciated, thank you

  • Preventing Digital Audio Out from "Sleeping"?

I'm using the mid 2010 Mac Mini and digital audio out.
My receiver is showing the loss of digital audio signal when the mini hasn't played a sound for awhile and then comes back when audio is played.
I loose about 1 second of audio though when this happens which is bad for quick sounds. Subsequent sounds play fine until it "sleeps" again.
In Windows it keeps the digital signal live at all times which is what I want in Snow.
    Is this possible?

You should only experience a delay when you switch to a new source of sound. Such as first starting playback in itunes, or first start Pandora, or just starting to watch a video clip.
This is because OSX typically only outputs a digital bitstream when there is an actual audio bitstream source currently "playing."
I regularly see my Denon receiver indicate a loss of the audio bitstream and then indicate when it starts up again. I have not experienced a problem because of this.
I suspect your particular receiver is slow to respond to new bitstreams. I have two suggestions to help mitigate this:
First, it might help to lock your receiver to the optical audio input (for that particular source selection). Since the receiver is likely simultaneously monitoring the HDMI, coaxial and optical inputs for a new bitstream, this could cause a delay in its reaction to a new audio stream.
Also check the receiver's manual and see if there are adjustments for its digital audio behavior. Disable any buffers or processing effects or "enhancements."

  • G62-a50sf : (only) audio out over HDMI?

We have a G62-a50sf notebook at my gf's place that we'd like to use as the source for a (somewhat) audiophile audio set-up.  One possibility to get better-than-headphone-output into a good receiver AND avoid using a separate DAC would be to feed the digital audio output over HDMI to the receiver.
The question I'm hoping to get an answer to is: will this be possible while retaining video output on the laptop's own screen?
    thanks in advance,
    René

Sorry, but your Mac doesn't send sound over HDMI, only mid-2010 and later MBP's send sound (and even then some require different adapters).  Yours is a 2009 MBP, so only video will go over the HDMI cable.  You will need to run audio from the audio out to your TV or digital audio out from your optical audio out to your receiver.

  • Optical digital audio out?

does any one have optical digital audio out to a receiver working? it doesn't work for mp3 through itunes, video purchased on itunes, cds or dvds. works fine with the same setup and a previous generation macbook so i know it's not the receiver or cable.
my fear is that this is a defective design issue related to the displayport hdcp issues. hopefully, my hardware is just malfunctioning.
i was on the phone over an hour with apple troubleshooting, but no one had an answer to the hdcp question.
    thanks.

i took my macbook up to the apple store to the "genius bar". after a few minutes, they just decided to replace the entire macbook. fine. after i got home, i immediately tested the digital out port. it works! fantastic. unfortunately, throughout the course of the night i continued setting up the new macbook. i later try the digital audio out and now it's not working.
this morning i'm trying it again and it's working, briefly. i've found that by moving the cable around near the output jack that the sound will come and go. i tried a different cable with the same results. although it seemed to work less frequently. both cables in different devices (including a previous generation macbook) work fine.
i've also noticed some of the comments on this forum and others (i think they were referring to different notebook models) about people having problems with the internal speakers not reactivating after unplugging headphones. my guess now is that the headphone jacks are just poorly designed, manufactured or i'm just unlucky.
i would think it's definitely not an hdcp or other content protection issue.
i guess i could exchange for another macbook, but with 2 having this problem it's seeming less likely another one will work out. i guess i could just be really unlucky and maybe 3rd times a charm. my only other alternatives as i see it are returning it or just living with the digital audio out not working (annoying, but everything should work on a $1500 laptop).

  • Audio not coming out both external speakers on Lenovo Horizon All-in-one

I have just received my Lenovo Horizon 27 inch all-in-one pc and I've noticed a problem with the audio.  When I plug in my external speakers I only get audio out of the left channel.  I noticed another person with the same problem posted to the forums some time back but the Lenovo tech never got back to him with a solution so I'm really hoping I'll have better luck.
The sound comes out propperly when headphones are plugged in but my speakers only output a single chanel of audio.  The speakers work fine on other PCs.  As was suggested in the other thread, I compared the headphone jack and the speaker jack and they are identical.  Same number of stripes, same length, and I believe the same girth.
Here's the url for the other post I mentioned: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaCentre-Desktops-Home-Servers/Horizon-27-sound-issue/m-p/1475392/high...
I also can't seem to find where the number is to call for support so if someone could help me with that I'd be very appreciative.
    Thanks,
    Charles
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Okay, so I called Lenovo support and as always, they were polite but their solution was that it was a software issue and I needed to restore my computer, so not very good advice but often given by every tech support.  It's like cutting off your hand because you have a cuiticle.
Anyway, so in all the sitting and waiting I had a thought come back about when I used to manage a computer store that sold Macs.  Apple, when they released the Macbook Air, tried to squeeze so much into the tiny case that there were a million problems with the device one of which was that some headphones and speakers worked fine (namely ones made by Apple, go figure) and others wouldn't work at all.  It was a design flaw related to have very low tollerances for minor differences in the headphone jacks length et al.
So I used an extension audio cable with my speakers and it works fine now.  So the answer is that there is a design flaw in the Lenovo Horizion related to the effort to squeeze so much into the thin device which lowers the devices tollerance for variations in the size and shape of the headphone plug.  I hope this helps someone else since the solution is simple and if it had been in a database it would have saved a lot of time for me and the techs.  Not complaining, just wanting to put this information out there for others who might be experiencing the same sort of problems.

  • Optical digital audio out so good you don't need external audio card?

IS the optical digital audio out of the MBP so good you don't need an external audio card?
I was looking into buying the MAUDIO mobilepre to connect my soon to be received MBP to the speakers, but the Apple rep told me the new optical digital connection is good enough that i can bypass an interface card. Is this true?
For reference I am planning to buy the EDIROL DM20 as monitors to edit audio in FCP 5.

I'm an audiophile as well. I wouldn't use the MBP headphone out to drive a serious audio system, so I don't disagree with your use of a good external DAC. But the poster wants to drive speakers that take digital input. So the question is about the digital output, not the DACs. Given the equipment he proposes to attach, I doubt there's any justification for using an external device to generate the digital out.

  • How do i disable audio out timeout on a macbook pro causing noise on external amplifier, without having a silent .wav playing in infinite loop?

After updating to Mavericks I have this problem. From what I guess, my audio out (either the signal, or the entire soundcard) cuts power after being idle for about 30 seconds. This results in a static noise when connected to my external amplifier. From various forums, dating back to 2007/8 I can see this is not a new problem. The only workaround is playing an empty .wav sound on infinite loop (either by using a terminal command, or by a third-pary app which does this for you), preventing the audio out from timing out and cutting power. This seems to me to be an undisirable proceeding. Even if minimal, it uses extra power and memory. Is there any way to prevent the sound card from timing out like this?

Ok. I tried disconnecting the charger from my macbook and that actually helped. The noise is now so low it is hardly audible, so I guess it has to do with a ground loop. But still, even when hardly audible it still only happens after 30 seconds of idle time. Is that because my theory about a timeout is correct, or is there some other reason for this? This used to just happen when my macbook went on standby (sleep), but now it happens allready after 30 seconds, so even though it may be a loop, it wasn't like this before. I'd love to understand what is different now.

  • Optical audio out to receiver

Hello, I have a powermac g5 hooked up to a vsx-1014tx Pioneer receiver via digital optical audio. When I'm using dvd player and select "system sound output" in Dvd Player's preferences I get audio through the digital optical hookup and sound out of the speakers, but the receiver's display doesn't switch to DIGITAL (it displays whatever sound processor I select on the receiver such as dolby prologic II) i.e. the computer outputs 2 channel digital audio. When I switch to "digital out - built in audio" in Dvd Player's preferences, there is no sound output while watching a movie. The receiver flickers between DIGITAL and DD Prologic II. Is there anything that you know of that will allow me to get 5.1 Dolby Digital put out through the G5's optical audio out? (settings, audio codec, ect.)
P.S. I have software updated and in system preferences/sound I have digital out selected
    Thanks for your help
    Daron

Not sure if it will help resolve your issue, but you can make more detailed adjustments to the audio output using +Audio MIDI Setup+ utility, which is in your Utilities folder.

  • RX-V471 Receiver Audio Out (R-L) Jacks question

I purchased this using about two years ago and have been pleased with it so far. I purchased a wireless speaker for out door use which makes use of a trandmitter which can be connected to the audio out jacks. With the V471 these audio out jacks do not have an output when I have my Toshiba BD/DVD player selected. The BD/DVD player is connected to the receiver using the BD/DVD HDMI connection. The same is true when I select the TV. The sound does play through the surround sound speakers when either device is selected but I would have though the Audio Out jacks would also have output as well Under what configurations do the audio out jacks have output? Right now they only seem to be active when I use the V471 AM/FM tuner.

Are you trying to play the audio in both locations or just through the wireless speakers? This reciever doesn't do multiroom, so in order you hear sound through the wireless speakers you'll need to manually change the audio output to the audio ports they're connected to.

  • Is it possible to play iTunes audio out through USB to receiver to power speakers?

I thought you should be able to.Play iTunes audio out through USB to a receiver equipt with USB mode as I can with my iPad Air, but I can,t find in preferences on my 2013 iMac any out put and I get no signal to the receiver/amp. Is it possible? What am I doing wrong?

    Yes
A 3.5mm to RCA cable or adapter will work fine for stereo between the Mac's headphone jack and receiver's RCA input.
    for example's

Additionally if your receiver is equipted with digital input, you could use a Toslink cable with a 3.5mm adapter on the Mac end.

  • Using the firebox/ to record an external synth via audio outs and a USB Mic

I have the following set up:
    firebox Firewired to the QuaD.
ALL audio in and out is PRESONUS FIREBOX
    in GB prefs/sound/audio midi utility
will i be able to record vocals with the USB samson
    and add
an external synth coming in to channels 1/2 in the front of the Firebox 1/2 channels
and ofcourse use GB as the recording studio and use this all together.
the outs in the back of the Firebox go to a minidisc whose audio outs go to monitors so that i can record what i do in case genius strikes me fiddling around
    as we all do.
so 1 Firebox, Firewire, Samson Mic ( USB ) GB 08 , minidisc, monitors
with all drivers to PResonus together.
i notice in audio midi i needed to change to device not mac to rid static
Is this a plausible set up?
    can this work:
The synth is taking up 1 real track ( i set monitor on and mono presonus track )
the samson mic is taking up another real track
can i hear record the synth and sing at the same time with them on both tracks
Chris said use aggregate in the midi audio
i do not understand how to do that and what that means?
would someone be kind enough to explain this?
please take it a step at a time.
i essentially want everything working at the same time
    external synths/usb mics/Gband/external recording/monitors
    using the presonus firebox
    thanks for your time
    bless u all
someone mentioned using aggregate in the audio midi utility.

Funny you should say that. It used to work fine, then suddenly last night it stopped working in the line-in jack. It's crazy, I'm not sure what the deal is, still trying to figure out what happened.

  • External speakers - audio out not working

I have these old Creative speakers with a subwoofer that I often use with my macpro laptop.
I just bought a 4K Mac Pro tower, and on the back, I see two similar jacks, one of them with a little speaker icon, which I assume, means thats where I should plug the speakers in.
I plug my speakers in there and they don't work. I plugged my speakers into the little jack next to it, and it still didn't work. I did this extensively. Stupidly, even.
I plug my speakers in the headphone jack on the front and they work just fine.
The speakers have always worked, we used to use them as part of our home stereo system, and they were plugged into an audio out jack. I've never had a problem with them.
Is there something wrong with the audio out jack on the back of the tower? Is there a way to fix this? A driver? Software? It's not a huge deal, but I would rather keep ugly cables behind my computer.
    Thanks!

Do you know if there is a way to have the sound output coming from both analog audio outputs at the same time - from the headphone jack and the back jack? I'm amazed you can't have both working at the same time.
    With Audio Hijack Pro
    <http://www.rogueamoeba.com/audiohijackpro/>
you can take the output from any application, or all system output, and use the "Auxiliary Device Output" effect to send it to a second output device.

  • How to connect Digital Optical Audio output iMac with Receiver Input

I have connected iMac with onkyo hts-3300 home theater system receiver through optical audio TosLink Cable.( http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Optical-Audio-TosLink-Cable/dp/B001ZU3G2I/ref=sr12?ie=UTF8&qid=1292865309&sr=8-2 ). Unfortunately there is no sound coming out from the Home theater system. I have verified the Receiver optical input is working fine by connecting with my TV optical audio digital out put and the it's working great. The only difference between TV and iMac is, on my TV, it has optical audio digital output and I can use this cable (http://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-A102-02M-Digital-connectors/dp/B0002WPREU/ref=s r11?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1297320792&sr=1-1) to make it work. I can also verified my optical audio TosLink Cable working because I can see the red light coming out from the cable. So the only problem could be from iMac. I doubt I need to change the additional setting to configure iMac to use external optical audio setting instead of the buit in audio setting. Hoe can I able to do it? or my iMac(IMAC 21.5"/3.06/2X2GB/500GB/9400M-ITP

I have follow this thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12769423&#12769423 and to my surprise which doesn't work out for me. I doubt that i need to change some setting, but when I got to setting>> sound I cannot change any setting. I was quite depressed aldy. Can someone answer my question as i m a newbie here. Thanks a lot

@rkaufmann87 : Thank you very much for your sharing about this http://www.apple.com/airportexpress/ connection. for me what i understand is the digital audio output in airportexpress is the same as the audio out put in iMac in terms of details sepcs. So this airportexpress will only help you connect wirelessly to home theatre system, rather than waired connection. Other than that nothig much difference. So there is no point for me to spend extra bucks to attain the wireless connection. Unless the airportexpress have optical digital input, which i believe not. Correct me if I m worng, thanks

  • Digital audio out from azalia chipset

    Hallo everybody.
I hope you could help me in finding a solution.
I just purchased a Fujitsu-siemens pc with the new M7058 MSI board (shuold be 915P) and my problem is I can't just get the "raw" digital signal out of the back panel S/PDIF out to be decoded fropm my external audio decoder.
In the driver panel "C media hq driver" are mentioned but in the control panel enabling the S/PDIF out just results in a normal PCM 2.0 out and my external receiver doesn't recognize it as a DD or DTS.
I downloaded the C media azalia drivers from msi site but I can't fulfil the installation sice after mentioning "installing bus drivers" the panel gives to me a notice saying that "the device doesn't exist or has been removed manually" (!!).
Thanks in advance for any related tip or hint
