AUDIGY 2 zs comp freezes at end of boot screen H

I built this computer p23g motherboard, pentD 3.0. So I loaded my counterfit XP PRO and my video card didnt work. Radeon 9250 DVI/VGA. The audigy was in the machine and booted fine but I didnt hook speakers to it yet,as I needed this video card to work.Long story short I had to Buy XP PRO sp2. First thing the video card worked great but putting the Audigy2zs makes the computer freezeat the end of the boot screen. However I did get it to work by slipping the card in just after bootup but before windows loads (scary I know). Go to device manager and scan for hardware changes and it detects the audigy and can install software. Problem is I cant turn off my computer ever again, except to repeat the procces. on boared audio is off in bios. Did all sp2 and board and creative updates but it just seems its not being reconized as a pci card or something. I've contacted cust support at pc chips and they are no help. They act like there botherd to answer questions about products, Microsoft cant explain it and I havn't seen any forums that cover this. Can anyone help? .. OK. I contacted PC Chips because an bios update didnt work, They say its not the bios? and they thought one thing could be the power supply. So I disconnected my extra hard dri've and cd roms and the same result. At least the person I got this time wasn't in a hurry to get off the phone. I have tried the Audigy in my other computer and it works. My machine (new one) booted up with the card in, as sometimes it will do,scan hardware for changes and it see's it. I am using the card right now and it works great,so I dont think its the card. I just cant reboot or on the bootup screen stops at NVRAM UPDATE : OK...... pc chips doesn't seem to be any help. I tested all pci slots and they work so they think its not their problem. If the card works (plays music in all channels) I dont understand why it freezes on bootup. Can the card be bad in any way if it is able to function like it is? Can it be bad and work in one computer and not another?Mike P.S. I also tried the msconfig, booting up with minimal startup items and its the same.Message Edited by custsupsucks on 04-8-20072:50 PM

  • IPhone4 constantly freezing & crashing to to boot screen

    Hey folks,
Think I've got a lemon here, but was wondering if anyone else was experiencing simaler issues...
Since I got the phone, it's been freezing up and/or totally crashing to the reboot screen for no apparent reason. First time it happened, I had set an alarm on the clock, alarm went off & I turned the alarm off and put the phone down. Went back to it 10 min. later and phone was completely shut off. (And yes, I'm positive I did not turn it off, and no one else touched it, lol.)
A few hours later, I tried to send a simple txt msg, iPhone crashed to boot screen again. Rebooted phone, everything was fine again for awhile, tried the txt again, and it went through ok.
After that, I'd be using random apps on the phone for awhile, and it would freeze up or completely crash and shut off, and automatically launch the Apple logo boot screen. Sometimes the little spinning icon thing would appear over the Apple logo and just freeze up again. I'd have to hold down the home & wake buttons to force it to reboot again. Sometimes that would take 2-3 tried before the phone would fully boot up. So I did a restore from scratch and everything seemed to work ok for a few hours...
Then it started again - just random freezes and crashes to the boot screen w/ Apple logo. I thought maybe a particular app may be causing problems, but cannot trace to any one specific app... happens at random, in many different apps. I also tried killing everything in the multitasking "drawer", but still have problems.
On Saturday afternoon, problems started again with the crashing, so I restored again for a 2nd time... didn't load any 3rd party apps, just the Apple stock ones. Used the phone for a few hours and crashing started again, for no apparent reason. As it stands now, when I try to launch the App Store or iTunes apps, they start to launch for a second, then automatically quit and close.... what the??
So what do you think it is? Just a defective phone?
Like I said, I've restored it twice now, set up as "new phone" each time, etc. Problems happening both with 3rd party apps installed, and also on a fresh restore with only stock apps. Blows my mind.... otherwise, phone is perfect - no screen or antenna issues.
I've made an appt at the Genius bar for Sunday, I'm hoping they just replace the phone and don't ask me to restore it again... Hope that they even have some replacements left!

Yeah, I thought it was iOS4 at first too, or a rogue app that was causing the problems, because it kind of made sense, right? But I also installed iOS4 on my 3GS and there have been no problems at all with it.
I went to see the Genius Bar, the tech looked it over, and after I explained the problems, he let me exchange it for a new one, absolutely no hassles at all. The tech didn't seem too shocked at all when I told him the problems I'd been having, it was quickly determined that the phone was indeed defective. He hooked it up to a Macbook and ran some kind of diagnostics program on it so the results could be sent to the engineers. Asked me if I would mind if they called me to further describe the issues, I told him no problem at all.
Funny thing is, when they gave me the new iphone and took it out of the box, it had a deep nick in the center top of the metal band. I pointed it out and they gave me yet another iphone right there on the spot.
So the new phone I have now seems to be ok... been using it for about 11 hours with no problems at all, I'm syncing it for the first time in iTunes as I'm writing this and it seems to be going ok.

  • Windows 8.1 freezes at boot screen

    Hi,
Today morning when i tried to switch on my PC, it hangs on the Win 8 boot screen. At times it would give me the BSOD ofMachine_Check_Exception while hung at boot. At times it tries to do an Automatic repair as well, but freezes again on the boot screen itself with it below saying "Preparing Automatic Repair"
I also see an error PCI IRQ Routing Table Error - 07 1F 00 just before boot.
I would have to restart like 10-20 times or maybe more for it to get through to windows. I thought it was a windows issue so i tried to boot into my Win 8 and Win 7 USB's so i could format and reinstall but it Doesnt let me Boot into the USB after i select the option to do so. It would take my straight to my current Win 8 install Boot screen and hang there.
Since a few days now, my system would not shut down when i would click on shut down. The screen would go off and all but my Desktop cabinet would still be on. It used to restart fine when required but that doesnt work now too. I have to switch off the mains to get it to shut down so i can restart.
The red LED's on my mobo dont stop at the CPU, RAM, Video card and forgot whats the last one for. So is this a windows issue? A hardware issue? and how do i fix this?
I havent made any hardware changes to the system. Ive tried to boot with just the monitor plugged in to the system and same issue.
I have reset my BIOS. I cant get into safe mode or boot from USB.

  • Freezing on blue boot screen.

My Ibook g4 is freezing on the blue screen right before the login screen. It seems like once and awhile (very rare) it will make it past the login. For example I haven't booted the computer in a few weeks, today it started up just fine and crashed about 2 or 3minutes later. It also sometimes freezes at the grey boot screen with the rotation indicator. I've tried booting in safe and single user mode and still have the same problem. I'm pretty sure I don't have much hard drive space left on the unit. I'm not really sure what the problem could be and im starting to think from reading up on it that its a logic board problem. Any input would be great.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
It does sound like it could be a logic board problem, but if your hard drive is too full, that could be a problem too. Does it work any better when cold and if you squeeze the lower left corner? If so, that could point towards a logic board problem.
Do you have access to another Mac? If so, it might be possible to access your hard drive using Target Disk Mode and rescue your data. You really want to get your data saved before you do much else.
Do you have all the original CD's that came with the computer? Can you boot off of a CD? If so, you could go to Disk Utility on install disc #1 and see if you can verify and repair if necessary both permissions and the disk. You click on the brand name to do this. To check on how full your hard drive is, you can click on MacIntosh HD and see what it says at the bottom.
Once your data is rescued, you could try a clean install of the OS, in case corrupted software is part of the problem.
    Good luck!

  • BLACK SCREEN startup with 3 beeps, FREEZES when unplugged, Splash screen freeze, HEAT-UP TO BOOT

BLACK SCREEN startup with 3 beeps, FREEZES when power unplugged, IF IT BOOTS splash screen freezes, OVERHEATING REQUIRED TO BOOT - 0x7B, Event 41 kernel-powe
Issue: One day I unplug the power, the screen freezes and I get frozen music sound. I shut down, start up, I get 3 beeps (1 short 2 long), which indicates a Video failure according to the Thinkpad Laptop beep code list.
How I solve the issue day-to-day: I turn the heat up - I disconnect the battery and hard drive and plug in the power then turn it on. I will wait until the underneath is searing hot with a blanket blocking the fan's flow of air, I mean way hot because any cooler and it won't start. Plug stuff back in, Hard drive first, Battery second, turn off with power button hold, unplug power, replug power.
I turn it on, no beeps, it goes past the first Lenovo screen, then gives me a prompt because it "didn't shut down properly" and continue regular startup. What happens next is the Windows logo appears, and just as the animated windows logo starts to move (you see 2 small colored dots on the screen), it freezes. I see this every time, I know naturally that it means that the laptop is still too hot to go past that point, so I shut it down and try again. After about 5 - 10 tries it will go past the splash screen and into the login area, then it's all fine.
Sometimes when I unplug the power from the back by accident it will freeze. By accident I mean that the connector wiggles it's self out easily. This unplug freezing thing started happening about 1 week before the 3 beep black screen problem started rolling, so I'm putting 2 together.
    Errors:
I got a Blue Screen of Death the first time I started it up with the overheating ritual, but I never got it since. It was 0X7B. I ended up changing a setting in BIOS from AHCI to Compatibility Mode, and I passed everything without the BSOD again. I have always had it on AHCI.
I got another Blue Screen of Death about a week ago, but came as it was on already and I had been using it, and said something about disabling Cache or Shadowing in BIOS. I never got it since.
    BIOS:
Also, the time was set to 1988 or something in the BIOS.
    Event Viewer events found:
    1. Kernel-Power, Summary page.
There are critical events for a few things like Kernel-Power, Event ID 41, Task Category (63). There are 19 of them, each day 1 or 2 of them but mostly 1, so this maybe corresponds to my daily ritual.
"The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."
    2. Kernel-Processor-Power - Event ID 37, task category (7)
"The speed of processor 1 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 71 seconds since the last report."
    3. LMS - HCMI - Event ID 2, Task Category: none
"LMS Service cannot connect to HECI driver".
I came across a very sluggish performing control panel for Nvidia before and after this problem, and I tried installing a newer version, which I had to jump through a few hoops to do, like uninstalling first, not just updating. At first it said that the driver wasnt made for the system, or that it wasnt compatible or something, which was wrong. I made it work somehow, but it was still sluggish after install. I rolled it back to an earlier driver, and now it works fine oddly. No sluggish performance / slight freeze window thing going on. No problem at all.
MSCONFIG.exe, Boot Advanced Options: I have tried twice to change this 1 setting, check box "Number of processors" and change to 2 processors, because I do have 2 processors. I have been able to change this in the past, but it does not save the setting now, and I believe this option was selected before I started having problems, and settings did not disappear then.
What could this be. The small round BIOS battery? The video card like everyone presumes? (I.E. the entire motherboard replacement), Software? The wiggly power input area? (Not enough power getting in?), Firmware of some sort? The BIOS software being wrong?

  • Why will my iMac boot fine in Safe Mode but freezes on a normal boot?

It is a 17" iMac.  1.83Ghz Core 2 Duo.  1GB RAM.  160GB Hard Drive.  Combo Drive with Intel GMA 950 GPU.
I took out the screen and put in in a different computer a while back.  This was a working computer before hand.  I pulled it off the shelf the other day to get it going (using an External Monitor) and when it gets past the Apple Screen, it goes to the blue screen, and then loads the wallpaper and some of the taskbar, but no dock and it freezes.  (This is on a fresh install of Leopard).  When I boot to safe mode, it boots fine.  I have tried reseating RAM, different RAM sticks, and a different hard drive. Also replaced PRAM battery.  Done a SMC reset and a PRAM reset.  No change.
Also worth noting was that when I tried to boot my Leopard disc, it would freeze at the Choose Language screen.  So I took the HD out and installed Leopard thru my other iMac and reinstalled OS X.  Did the same thing when I tried to boot from a Snow Leopard disc.
    Ideas??

Hello, in Safe Mode did you try setting a good resolution on the Display?
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

  • OS X freezes then won't boot up on restart

Recently OS X keeps suddenly freezing for no apparent reason. I would restart my computer only to have it freeze again after a few minutes up to a few hours. However now when attempting to restart OS X won't boot up, it essentially freezes when trying to load OS X. Started computer using ctrl-commmand-power and OS X would load and function normally, then freeze after a while. Now OS X won't load at all, and simply freezes when trying to boot up (freezes on Apple icon and swirl during start up).
    What do I do!?

My OS X was running fine for more than a month (I don't know why, I didn't do anything to it, one day it was just operating as normal) however now it is freezing again during start up. I booted up with the OS X install disk and repaired disk permissions, as well as repaired disk. Utilities fixed some disk permissions, and then said no repairs were needed for the disk. Ran the apple hardware test, and it found no problems. Tried to run extended diagnostics and it seems to freeze while doing that. I also ran a virus scan (with some freeware ClamXav, which made it freeze a few times before it successfully completed), and tested my memory (with freeware Rember) all of which found no problems (although I'm not sure how reliable those programs are).
Does this still seem like a hard drive issue? Or could it be something with my RAM (I have 2gb), or something else?
I just want to make sure I know what the issue is before I start pouring money into my mbp.

  • Firefox is freezing (going to a black screen) whenever I rotate a web page from portrait to landscape view on a stock Motorola Atrix on a stable wifi connection. How do I fix this?

I'm running a stock Atrix with Android 2.3 (gingerbread). Yesterday afternoon I noticed that Firefox was taking a good 30 seconds to open whenever I tapped the Firefox icon on my phone. It's also freezing/going to a black screen anytime I rotated from portrait to landscape by rotating my phone. When this happens, the phone itself doesn't freeze (other programs still work if I hit the home key), but it takes a couple manual on-off cycles of the screen to wake Firefox up. Is there something I can do to fix this annoying problem without installing and reinstalling Firefox?

I have also found that unchecking the "Use hardware acceleration when available" option solves this issue. This option is in the Advanced section, under the General tab.

After resetting my backbook pro to factory settings, it freezes every time it boots up. What's the problem?

by the way, you can also try to safe boot up your mac for safe mode. maybe it can work and you can deal with problem there.
    for safe boot:
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).

  • Mac freezes on the apple startup screen?

My iMac 24 inch freezes on the apple startup screen, then it takes along time for the cog wheel to start turning, and then that's all you'll get untill you switch off. I've fixed permissions and erased and reinstalled but still same issues, any ideas for what to do next????

If you can afford to erase everything again...
      1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
       2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
       3. Click the Erase tab.
       4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
       5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
       6. Highlight the drive, select Partition Tab, then Format type... MacOS Extended Journalled, select the Security Options button, choose Zero Out Data, Erase... after completion hopefully you'll be able to get a good install.
    Or...
Boot off your *original* Install Disk while holding down the *d key*, (not c key), then run the extended Apple Hardware Test. Some disks require you to use the Option key at bootup to select AHT.
The Memory test can really only be trusted if it finds a problem, not if it doesn't find a problem.

  • Layout box from end to end of the screen

The caprice is simple: I want to create 100px tall line (vertical gradient) from end to end of the screen at the top of it, independently of screen's size.
I have already set up the header which is 80px tall and appears 5px from the top (so there is a space where background gradient should continue to appear). The sites main content (header included) is 930px wide-positioned at the center (once again - so the background gradient should appear at the both sides of main content field (crossing the wraper) and at scattered instances - at the gaps too.)
I understand how to create gradient itself (1 pixel wide jpg or png which repeats over and over), but how and where to define layout box for current needs?
    Any suggestions?

If you look at my website, there are several gradient background images used on the page that flow from top gradient to bottom solid color fills.
