Audigy 2 zs diagnostics: only front left & right sound on megaworks 550

When I test the speakers with creative thx console, creative diagnostics or spekaers settings, I can hear front left and right sound on my 5. system for EVERY channel that is tested. All the software is updated and speakers are connected in the right way.
If i try playing games, it's impossible to select eax sound.
Problems started when I've uninstalled drivers of my old SB PCI28 sound card after the installation of new audigy drivers. Before uninstalling pci28 drivers everything was working ok.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall all the software but nothing changed. HELP!!

You said you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software, did you uninstall the drivers aswell then? Try a cleansweep, more details are in the FAQ.
If it's not letting you select EAX then it sounds like the card isn't installed correctly, or isn't recognised correctly. Check in Device Manager and see if there is any mention of the card there, and if there are any error messages/error codes.

• Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS, only front left and front ri

I've had the sound card for about 8 months now. About a week ago, instead the usual 7. coming out of my speakers, only the front left and front right speakers work. It's not the speakers, because I plugged the speakers into the onboard audio and they all work, but when I have them plugged into the sound card, only the front two. I have the audio set to 7. in the control panel and have CMSS 3D turned on. It has nothing to do with settings, because when I run the test in the THX console, the front two speakers are the only ones that work. Could someone please help me out, Thanks

You could try this. Remove the sound card from the computer and boot up the computer without the sound card in the computer. Let Windows finish loading and then have it shutdown. Slot back the sound card to the PCI slot and boot the computer.

• Audigy 2 ZS no front left! please he

Hi there, this is a problem which is really driving me bananas! I am using an Ugigy 2 ZS with a Logitech 680 speaker system. A few weeks back I noticed my front left speaker went out. I narrowed it down to the output jack for the front speakers. It was not the cables, nor the speakers, as each worked in different scenarios. So, I ordered a refurbished Audigy ZS from Creative. Installed it, and...same problem!
I tried both cards in different PCI slots, same problem. Updated drivers. Tried a clean boot with Windows XP. Even did a fresh install of Windows and all software. I'm really lost.
Is it possible that it could be a hardware problem in my computer that is causing this? Is it possible that 2 cards can have the same problem?
Any assistance anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

I FIXED IT.
EDIT: Actually I didn't fix it. I am now getting mono sound from both speakers, so I jumped the gun.
EDIT2: Okay, this time I really DID fix it. Here's how:
I was reading through the mobo manual just to see if I was missing anything. I saw a note that said if you don't have the jumper across pins 9 and 0 on the front panel hookup jumper block, then you won't have audio in the output jack on the back of the motherboard.
So I looked at the front panel connector on the motherboard to make sure the left channel output and return pins had a jumper across them (pins 9 and 0 on my mobo). They did, so I almost gave up and put the case cover back on. Then I decided I would make sure the jumper that was there had good contact with the pins.
I pushed the jumper sideways a bit to make sure it was tight to the pins and then tested the left channel. I suddenly had sound on the left channel! So looks like the jumper was bad! I replaced it with a different one that was tighter and it continued to work!
I have yet to test this on the other motherboard that had this problem (since I already installed an addon sound card on it and am fine keeping it that way), but I am willing to bet the fix will work there too. I bought these motherboards close together to each other so they probably had the same run of bad jumpers installed on them.
Hopefully this helps someone!Message Edited by aeric67 on 05-06-2006 06:02 PM

• Left right sound channels

Is there any way to get iTunes to play only from the left or right stereo channel. I've bought some musical play-along CDs which have the melody on the left and the background on the right. If I play only on the right I can practice soloing over the background sound.
Thanks

Not any sophisticated way.  If you use external speakers you could disconnect the one you don't want.  Otherwise you may have to open the audio in an editor such as Audacity or Amadeus Pro and  fiddle with it there.
One other thing occurred to me. Check out Amazing SlowDownerX. It's geared towards playing along with songs so maybe it does that too.

• Adjusting left/right sound balance

I have some "play along" music tracks to practice playing musical instruments with. Many have just drums, bass and piano, with bass and piano panned to extreme left and right. To practice bass, for example, one adjusts the balance to extreme right to remove the bass part from the recording. I have not found a way to do this on my iPod or on iTunes. Is it possible?
Either playing the right channel only (this is what a traditional balance control would do) or playing the right channel through both stereo channels would be good solutions. Alternatively, can one preprocess the track in some way to replace both channels by the right channel in the sound file itself?
Unfortunately it isn't possible to adjust the balance on the iPod dock (with speakers) that I'm using.
Many thanks in anticipation

Well, keep experimenting with the left/right panning and the various parameters you can program into the reverb effect!
There are no rules with regard to recording and mixing, but traditionally the bass drum, the bass guitar, and the lead vocal are mixed in the center, and the other instruments and harmony vocals are spread out to the left and right to varying degrees. The different drums in the drum kit are often panned to different positions mimicking the physical layout of the drum kit (left to right).
As far as reverb goes, realize that you can set different amounts and kinds of reverbs on different instrumental and vocal tracks; you don't have to send every instrument to the same stereo reverb effect. If you do so, you'll lose the ability to position sounds where you want them to be. The other element is the wet/dry mix. When you send a sound to a reverb effect, you decide what percentage of the signal goes to the effect (wet) and what percentage bypasses the reverb and goes straight out to the left and right speakers (dry) according to the pan setting for that track.
Listen to your CD collection. Pick some music that you like that is similar in style to what you are recording. Play a song over and over again and take note of where each instrument is placed in the stereo field. Then learn how to replicate that effect in your GarageBand tracks using panning and reverb. Studying well-recorded music is the best way to figure out how to do things on your own.

• SB Audigy 2 Platinum only recording left chan

I am attampting to do some custom mixing doing some voice-over for a narrated program.
Listening with headphones as I record all sounds fine, however, when I play the recording I only have left channel content. I did notice that the record level indicates that there is only a left channel component. I've checked all my presets and I'm set to record MP3 Stereo and can't find any other settings which could be muting the right channel.
I'd appreciate some guidance.

Jallenwebb,
If you are using the Mic/Line in 2 on the platinum dri've you will want to set the volume control on it to microphone (turn the volume up to where you want it...all the way down till it clicks sets it to line in mode) as in line in mode it records in stereo mode (both channels are recorded and since most mics are mono then you end up with only one channel) but in Microphone mode it records it as a mono input that is panned to center so it plays back in both channels.

• Ddts-100 + audigy2 zs + 550thx mega works. only left/right output

just purchased and installed the above system. however, when doing the software test under speaker settings, i only get front left and front right. all the others dont work. i have miniplug out from audigy (digital output) to (coaxial input) decoder, then decoder out (front left/right, rear left/right, sub/front) to megaworks input (front left/right, rear left/right, sub/front). i do the test on the ddts-100 decoder, and i get all 5.1 channels. now, just to clarify, i used the supplied mini plug to rca, that rca to the rca input (coaxial) the plug is the mono plug that came with the decoder. do i need to go out and buy the 4 pole mini plug? why dont they just supply it instead of the mono plug.. which isnt even shown to be used in my manuals.
anyway, clarification would be good on the mono/4 pole miniplug. otherwise nice sound so far.cant turn it up cuz its midnight and highly doubt the neighbours would appreciate it.
cheers
Steve

Hmmm... My guess is that this is due to your setup with digital out. Since the digital out on your soundcard will not pass through anything other than stereo PCM or encoded SPDIF data you will not get anything else but FL and FR channels when calibrating. Read more about this is the soundblaster forum section here.
My suggestion, as I'm sure everyone else will, is to connect your soundcard using the analogue outputs into the switchbox of the DDTS-100.
Edit: to be more precise this is how you can connect everything: from your soundcard, connect the analogue outputs into the switchbox of the DDTS-100. Connect the switchbox to the main DDTS-00. Connect the DDTS-00 main to the speakers. Now, connect the digital out from your soundcard into the coaxial input on the DDTS-100. When doing a calibration, switch to PC mode on the switchbox and calibrate. If you then want to use the digital out, enable digital out only in the speaker or THX settings. I use this setup at home actually but use the T7700 speakers instead.

• When exporting I only see in the Markers box Left, Right & Center"

I am using FCP HD 4.5. When I attempt to export to a Quicktime movie I no longer see include chapter markers in the marker dialog box. I am only seeing "Left, Right & Center" in this box. I believe that this is the first time that I have ever seen these.

perhaps you could post an image showing the relevant issue?

• 5.1 system, only sound from front left & ri

I'm running a x-fi platinum on vista home premiumif you need/want more specs than that, just let me know. my problem is thus, I've set the system up for 5. surround sound, I've tested the speakers and I'm only able to recieve sound to the front left and right speakers. No sound is being sent to the center, rear left or right. I'm unsure of what to do, I've read that there are other users who arent having any problems with their 5. systems and I'm hoping someone here can give me some advice on what to do. Thanks

lol wow I Just fixed it by accident. heres a screenshot of how.basically, whatever speakers were not getting sound, you uncheck them. its crazy but it works?*edited twice trying to get the pics to show up in the post *http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...nxx984/prt.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...xx984/prt2.jpg?Message Edited by FleshWound on 02--2007:34 AM

My balance sounds horrible when is at the center ... it only happen when I plug my Headphones... if I move the balance to the left/right i have a mono sound in my headphones left/right

I too am experiencing this issue after upgrading to Mavericks. Headphone audio balance seems to always stick to the far right. When moved to the center, it still only outputs sound to the right side. I have to constantly adjust the setting a little to the left of center for both sides to output sound equally.

• Sound only plays in Front left speak on Windows 7 with Xfi Extreme Music??

I have Xfi Extreme Music (SB0640). In installed the lastes drivers for windows 7 (<a rel="nofollow" href="http://forums.creative.com/t5/forums/postpage/board-id/#]Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi series driver 2.8.003 ), When I run a speaker test all 6 speakers work, however when I use media player, media center etc. Only the front left speaker works.
Do I need to install creative Alchemy?
Console Launchers does not load on boot
Any asistance will be appreciated
Thanks in advance

NRe: Sound only plays in Front left speak on Windows 7 with Xfi Extreme Music? You will need to have the Creative Console Launcher which will let you have CMSS-3d or Creative Multichannel Surround Sound. You can find the newest version for your card here......
<a rel="nofollow" href="http://support.creative.com/downloads/download.aspx?nDownloadId=094"]http://support.creative.com/downloads/download.aspx?nDownloadId=094
Honestly though, dont bother with just that. Get Daniel K.'s X-FI support pack which is updated with the newest drivers and applications for your card. Plus, he tweaked those with fixes for installation/integration? under operating systems other than XP.
That can be found here.......
<a rel="nofollow" href="http://rapidshare.com/files/234436040/XFI_SupportPack_2_0.exe"]http://rapidshare.com/files/234436040/XFI_SupportPack_2_0.exe
And the link is still good.

• "Front Left", "Front Right" from the same speak

I am having an issue I am hoping to get answered. I have Boston Acoustic speakers which I am currently using on a new computer with a SoundBlaster XiFi. I can only hear sound from the left channel (The speaker that plugs INTO the right speaker that plugs into the Subwoofer). When I go to run an diagnostics test, it says :
Speaker : Front Left... Front Right
Speaker 2: (Nothing)
Speaker 3: Rear Left
Speaker 4: Rear right.
I know that this is not a problem with the hardware as I can plug these speakers into the computer right next to me & they work fine. I see that this problem crops up very often on these forums, I hope someone can point me in the right direction.
Thanks

No jack problem at all. I have also suffered myself some problems with "speaker switching" with the X-Fi. Only a full reinstall of all creative drivers has solved it, at least for me. I have posted it some times here, but I always get silence as a response. A common problem is that front right speaker dissapears when it was working perfectly.
It's a bug, no matter what Creative says (unfortunately they say nothing), there are a lot of posts regarding this

• Audigy 4 Pro - can only get 2 channel sound via SPDIF/optical connecti

I have two PC's, one with an Audigy 4 Pro and one with an Audigy 2 Platinum (A2P), I have my 5. speakers hooked up to the A2P and the A4P connected via the SPDIF to the A2P, I would expect to get 5. - both are setup to use 5. speakers, (I know that as a standard Digital coax/optical connections should handle multi speaker configs my entire A/V sound system (7. Dolby) uses optical and coax and it works fine).
If I run the channel test on the Audigy 4 I can get nothing but sound through the left and right speakers, if I run the test on the Audigy 2 (speakers direct connected) the sound is fine, if I reconnect the speakers to my Audigy 4 I get sound on all speakers so it looks like its an issue with the SPDIF and optical inputs (I tried both).
I have emailed tech support, I'm waiting for them to come back and tell me that the Audigy 4 cannot transmit more than two channels down the SPDIF/optical outs, thats my suspicion anyway, if that is the case then I'm not going to be a happy man and the Audigy will be going back to the store. Could be a driver problem of course as I cant believe they would implement Dolby and THX and only transmit two channels on the optical outs, that would be a bit dumb considering the primary use for digital connections is sound system interconnects.
Anyone with any ideas about this let me know, perhaps theres a hidden setting somewhere or a registry setting that switches the digital outs to carry all signals.

Just before everyone kicks off, heres a response I got from a tech guy at Creative themselves.
If you connect speakers to your sound card using a digital cable
(RCA/SPDIF or optical) then the software speaker test will only output
from two speakers. The reason for this is that the speaker test signal is
not in AC3 nor DTS format.
The signal on a digital connection is either
Optical SPDIF - which is either Stereo PCM signal or AC-3/DTS Bitstream
RCA SPDIF - which is either Stereo PCM signal or AC-3/DTS Bitstream
If you play AC3 (Dolby Digital) or DTS encoded signals, the amplifier
decodes this and outputs it to all 6 speakers (5 satellites & subwoofer)
discretely.
When playing back stereo signals (such as Wav/CD Audio or MP3/WMA files)
the amplifier may generate 5. output based on the incoming stereo PCM
signal, provided Dolby Pro Logic decoding is available and activated.
Therefore the speaker test should not be relied on when using RCA or
Optical digital connections.
This applies to all speaker systems equipped with RCA or Optical digital
connections.
This makes sense to me and I'm pretty happy with it, basically as the reply says above the speaker test does not encode to AC3 hence if you hook two Audigys together and run the test you only get 2 channel output, if you play a DVD which is AC3/DTS encoded on one Audigy and listen to speakers hooked up to the other when both Audigys are connected via SPDIF or optical you should in theory get full playback on all speakers. Hopefully
Cheers
Simon

• Gigaworks S750 + Audigy1 - Only hear left channel in left and right speakers

Since last week I'm the proud owner of a gigaworks S750. Since my new computer went RMA I decided to hook it up on my old computer with an Audigy (SB Audigy E400) audio card.
The original Audigy drivers come with this test program that tests all channels saying "front left", "front right" etc etc through the respecti've speakers.
However, when running this test program I hear the "front left" message through both the front speakers, and the "rear left" message through both the side speakers.
The "front right" and "rear right" messages I don't hear.
I've been looking through the settings of the audigy and reading the manual of the Gigaworks set, but nothing turned up.
My old Philips 4.1 speakerset did not have this problem, so my guess is it's something with the gigaworks.
Thanks

U sure the speakers are set to 7.1 ? BTW u need Audigy 2 ZS or Audigy 2 Platinum to make all your speakers make the correct sounds. BUY A NEW SOUNDCARD!!!
