Audigy 2 ZS digital out working in Vist

I can't listen anything with the digital out in vista, everything is coneted well and selcted optical out in speakers by default.... anybody working? please how to?ThanksMessage Edited by egde on 02-26-20070:44 PM

There are two types of transfering methods for digital signal - optical (fiber) and coaxial (wire).
If your card is plain A2Zs (no external Dri've or Digital I/O then, you're trying to get signal passed to external device through fiber cable (optical) when your connection type in Audigy is through wire (coaxial).
You need to use normal cable as like [mini jack plug] --> [RCA] (if you use std stereo mini jack plug to 2 x RCA cable, the tip is the hot in plug --> white RCA (I quess).
If your receiver does not have coaxial input for ext. sources then you need to get the Digital I/O from Creative or some othr coaxial to optical converter.

  • Audigy 4, digital out would not work, now external box does not power

I recently purchased a audigy 4 sound card. At first it was almost as if there was a loose wire somewhere. Sometimes the external break out box would power up and sometimes it would not. There was no loose wire and it now no longer powers up at all. The only thing that was worse than the intermittent power up was the digital out on the box. First of all I was told that you could use the spidf out on the box to a receivers digital in, this never worked now matter what settings I tried. I was then told to try the mini out. So I went and bought a mono mini out, that was a joke, didn't fit right rarely worked. I then went and bought a mini stereo plug to RCA out, that fit right and worked a few times, It no longer works at all.
I had the settings set up correctly with the spidif passthrough.
Has anyone else had any problems getting the digital out to work with a receiver?
The analog works fine, but just like the audigy mp3 the bass output for my sub is weak and almost nonexistent. I have a nice hifi/ht system I am trying to get this card to work with.

    hello there!
i have the same problem - when i use the equalizer i can save a preset without problems,
but if i reboot the pc i first have to open the equalizers window to make the equalizer work. without having opened the equalizer window it seems to be not activated.
does anybody have an idea how to fix that problem?

The documentation i downloaded off site here said 3.50 mm (/8-inch) mono-to-RCA cable. where would that "Flexijack status to act as Digital I/O instead of Mic/Line In at the mixer software" be located cause i don't see it in there.

  • Audigy ES Digital out probl

Hi, im trying to hook my Kinyo d565 speakers and decoder up to the digital out on my audigy soundcard.
Now first off, the decoder has 3 inputs - analogue stero, digital RCA(coaxial), and digital optical.
i've tried doing everything in audioHQ to get any sound out of my speakers (they work fine when i just use the line out on the sound card and the stereo input on my decoder).
i've connected the digital out on the soundcard to the optical in on the decoder using a 3.5mm to toslink optical digital cable.
i have no idea why im not getting any sound at all. is it my cable? - do i need to get a 3.5mm mono to RCA cable?
any help would be greatly appreciated
    ps.
i've tried all the things like selected 2 speaker output, disabling decoding of ac3 etc etc....

  • Audigy 4 - WinXP Drivers working on Vista, exept

    Hi,
I've followed the discussions here since the release of Windows Vista, and I have tried a number of combinations to make my Audigy 4 work like on Windows XP. The best configuration I had for now is the follow:?Latest Audigy 4 Windows XP drivers from creative.com?- Install fine- Have all EAX presets working- CMSS, CMSS2 are working - BUT: Windows doesn't recognize the 4. configuration, so that all Valve Source games (Half-Life 2 and mods), and certainly other programs that look in the Windows configuration,?don't run in 4.. But I can hear my music in 4.! (with the CMSS options)?I know there are some other bugs with Vista, but I think that the Vista drivers CAN have all the EAX presets, and the original Creative programs are certainly running on Vista, if there wouldn't be these annoying tests to detect the appropriate hardware. Can anybody help me to enable all EAX presets and edit them like I did on WinXP? I mean, they work on Vista with the XP drivers, why wouldn't they work with the Vista drivers?Alchemy is also running fine exept in one two games:Oblivion with Alchemy and Vista drivers doesn't work well (only bass tones, the high are gone)
With XP drivers on Vista and Alchemy, the game works perfect. I hope that Creative isn't the kind of company who disables features of their products in newer Systems (Vista) just to sell newer hardware... That would be so disgusting...

I had the same trouble with XP drivers on Audigy 2/4 in Vista. The solution I found, was to manually install latest X-Fi drivers, install XP CD apps in compatibility mode. I have speaker settings, EAX console, Diagnostics and Surround mixer working. Of course there's always EAX to be added too.

  • Audigy 4 Digital Out with DTS 55

    Hi there
Is it possible to connect a Audigy 4 (not the pro version) with a optical cable to a 5500er DTS Station?$
Ive got this combo and i think it wont work (optical out on audigy 4 is just show?)
My soundcard works with other connections but not with optical. And the solution to connect the 3 minijack cables from the DTS5500 directly to the soundcard is not a solution.
    Please help me
    Greetings

The Digital output jack on the card isn't of optical signal type.....you will need to get those I/O module mention bt johnston2 for optical connection.

  • SB Audigy 2ZS Programs not working after Vista Instal

hey yours, after installing Windows Vista, many of mind Creative program are non-working. ex. creative surround mixer, EAX, THX ( all these program are came from the CD when I purchase the sound blaster audigy PCI card. even updated the latest drivers. when I tries to plays computer games like Medieval 2 Total War or Tom Clancy Rainbow Six that I tries to set for the EAX, they don't even go through. I dont wanted to go back Windows XP, because that wasting a lot of money.
So anyway I can set to EAX for PC Games?
I wanted to used creative surround mixer, anyway?
So, it's everyone are waiting for the Vista Drivers came out?
Since SB Li've and SB X-Fi are out already.
Thank You.Message Edited by QuanL7B_P on 08-5-200704:4 AM

Use the Windows' Volume Control. It actually is more advanced, allowing you to lower volume on a per application basis. You can also run the Creative Mixer in Compatibility mode, but I don't recommend it, as you may have problems. For playing DS3D EAX games under Vista, you need to download and install ALchemy:? This is essentially a wrapper, making DS3D calls into OpenAL, as OpenAL is currently the only library allowing non-Microsoft rendering on audio streams.Message Edited by alexs3d2 on 08-5-200702:05 PM

So, any body knows some solution for this?ThanksByron

  • Audigy 2ZS Digital

Just would like a confirmation on this...
If you connect the Audigy 2ZS digital out to a standard stereo reciever (sony) digital coax in it will not damage the reciever?
Sounds silly but I know the digital out is meant for connection to propietary creative lab speakers, and I have read that connecting it to other devices can damage them.
Also I should use a regular small "headphone" jack to connect to the digital out on the audigy 2ZS? This should be a mono cable also?
    Please help.. thanks!!!
If you can link to the cable/adaptor I would need that would be great!Message Edited by asharabi98 on 05-29-2006 :23 AM

Any stereo cable with jack on one end and RCA conenctors at the other is fine. It will not damage the receiver. Something like this (use one of the RCA only - I think is the white one for front speakers):
    <IMG src="http://us.st.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/trianglecables-site_900_56428">
Read the FAQ about digital connection and be prepared to have only stereo sound in games because Creative soundcards cannot send surround sound from games over digital connection.

  • Audigy 2 Value digital out not work

I'm trying to use the digital out on my audigy 2 value card using my onkyo system (6. with a receiver). at first i tried using a stereo /8" male to /8" male cord with one end using a /8" to rca adapter and hooking that up to my coax input on my receiver. using that, i was only able to get 2.0 sound (no sub signal). I have my receiver set to 'direct' input so it receives whatever PCM or DD signal is sent. I tried both mp3's and dvds and nothing gives more than 2.0. I called tech support and was told i needed to use a mono cable. i went to radio shack and got a /8" mono (male) to phono (female) adapter and hooked it up to one end of a phono (male) to phono (male) cord and plugged them into the respecti've places on my soundcard and receiver (coax). Still only 2.0. I did the speaker test in speaker settings and it confirms only 2.0 because all i hear is "front left" and "front right". what's wrong? I'm about to go nuts on this.

alright, i read the knowledge base articles and saw that the tests won't output more than left and right, but still, it's not working for my dvd's. i have my receiver set to "direct". is that right? i'm using windows media player for the dvd playback, should i try something else? do i have to install an AC3 codec? do i have to enable something in media player? anything please

  • Audigy 2 ZS - Headphones work, Digital Out does not

Just install an Audigy 2 ZS. Bought a miniplug-RCA plug adaptor to connect it to my digital coax cable into my Onkyo receiver. Headphones show that sound it working. Onkyo shows no PCM signal received. I know it works because my last computer used the same amp and same cable. Is there something in the software I'm doing wrong? I'm tried switching the frequency rate, the digital out only, 2 speaker and 4 speaker settings. What am I doing wrong?
    John

    SoonerFann,
One thing to consider is that the digital out on the back of the Audigy 2 ZS is not an actual SPDIF out. It uses the DIN interface which is similar in form, but has a different rating on the voltage of the connection. Most receivers will still work with it, but some will not. This is most likely why it is not showing PCM on the receiver. If you have the platinum dri've, there is a true SPDIF on it but we cannot guarantee that it will work with a receiver using the DIN on the Audigy 2 ZS.
    Jeremy
    P.S.

  • Using Digital Out of Audigy SE on Vist

    HI Guys!
Following Problem: Got the Audigy SE and the correctly installed Vista Driver. I do get sound by normal speakers. But now I bought the I/O Module for opical link. In normal Windows use, I don't hear anything. It works on WinXP and I can make the Soundblaster to say something if I go to preferences and test DTS but thats it. Does anybody now how to set "Digital Output only"? Please help me!

i am having the exact same issue. i am running windows vista 64 bit. - a month ago i was looking for a cheap, 7. sound card with digital output. i found the audigy SE.- when i recieved it, even though the card said it could do digital outputs, nowhere did it say i had to buy a separate module for it. so now i search for the module and buy it.(on another note why cant this be included, it was like $5. and why don't most of the big name online retailers carry it)- i plug in the module into the sound card, run a coaxial cable from digital output on soundcard to digital input on my reciever. no sound- check settings, disable analog speakers, disable onboard sound. still no sound.- i somehow found my way to a tab which allowed me to test various digital formats. i select a format, hit test, and it worked. i heard sound!? tried another one and it works!- i open a movie file... no sound. i look at the volume manager and there is an indicator saying that sound is being broadcast, but im not hearing anything.- i retest the digital formats. it works.- i open a movie file. no sound. from what i can tell, creative ships a utility that lets you change some setting from 44.8kpbs to 96kpbs or somethingl ike that (sorry i don't know anything about audio, and im having trouble finding the page again). Doing this allows digital sound to work with some devices. But the utility does not work with vista, so we are screwed!?I?can get 5. sound by using the 3 standard jacks and an analog. but they support only front, surround, center/sub. no rear surround support!? And its analog!?PLEASE HELP!

  • Audigy 2 ZS Digital out not work

Can someone tell me what "The Digital out from the soundcard is of electrical type and not optical type so you can't use optical cable with the Digital output jack directly" (taken from another post) means. Trying to get the Digital?output acti've on my card but no sound comes out not even the tell tail red light from the cable. If i'm missing something someone please tell me. Whats the defference between "electricial and not optical type" mean. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Digital out on Soundblaster Audigy 2

I put the digital modul on the digital out. In the software i fill the only digital out buttom. On the digital modul out i go with a coxial cabel to my Dolby Digital reci'ver .But it doesnt com sound ! Also with the optical cabel the same. What can i make to acitvate the digital out from the Audigy 2 ?
    Thanks Andy

What are you trying to play, movies or music. If it's a movie, you need to select SPDIF output in your DVD software and SPDIF pass through in the soundcard options. If it's not working with music, maybe you need to change a setting on your receiver.

  • No digital out on Audigy 2 va

I upgraded from an Audigy to 2 and I'm trying to use some Boston Accoustics BA7500G digital speakers. I normally would tick the box "Digital out" on the speaker settings on my A and set 4/4. as the setup and I would have 4 speaker sound. However with the A2 I *DO NO GET* that "digital out" tick box, where it would be on the speaker config window is instead a blank area. Any ideas? I also did a fresh install of WinXP in a spare partition and using the drivers from the A2 CD I get the same result.

I am having a similar problem with no output to my BA7500Gs, however, I am using the SB Li've! 24-bit card that DOES have the tick box for digital out only. If you speaker set is from an old Gateway system, we may be suffering from a cable problem since according to Jeremy-CL in the posting "Creative Labs<SPAN class=navbar_sep>: Speaker Systems<SPAN class=navbar_sep>:<SPAN class=navbar_text>Re: Boston Acoustics + Sound Blaster + Windows XP = no sound?", Gateway sort of rigged the sound card to work with the digital BA7500G speakers. I have opened a separate post <SPAN>BA7500G + Sound Blaster Li've! 24-bit + Windows 2k = no sound in effort to find a resolution. Will provide one if found.
