Audigy 2 ZS digital output to tosli

First of all thank you for reading, this question probable has been raised before (done a search but couldnt find an answer to it).
My doubt is, i own a Audigy 2 ZS (neither Platinum or Pro) wanted to know if i can plug this soundboard to my hifi stereo, through a toslink cable. I know the output on the board isnt toslink, so im think of using a cable such as this http://nanosatelite.eu/b2c/index.php?page=pp_producto.php&md=0&codp=250 with a male toslink and a 3,5 jack on the other. will i get a digital output with this cable, can it do the job (its only digital stereo im aiming at). any advices i should know?
wanted to be shure about this, before buying the cable
thank you for your time
Nuno

If the cable has a in-build coaxial to optical conversion circuit then yes, otherwise (I think this is the answer for you) no.
You need a device wich can convert S/PDIF coaxial to optical (TosLINK). Creative des have one but sorry to say ... your card isn't on list you can use it with. So, you need to get something simliar or DIY one (it's not very hard to do).

  • Audigy 2 Value Digital Output O

    Hello
I recently bought an Audigy 2 Value and connected it into my expternal amplifier via the digital out connector. Is there a digital output only option hidden somewhere that would mute all the other outputs? It isn't under the advanced window of Play Control, that's where my old SBLi've used to have it. Thank you!

alright, i read the knowledge base articles and saw that the tests won't output more than left and right, but still, it's not working for my dvd's. i have my receiver set to "direct". is that right? i'm using windows media player for the dvd playback, should i try something else? do i have to install an AC3 codec? do i have to enable something in media player? anything please

I AM TRYING TO CONNECT MY PC TO A HOME THEATRE AMP USING THE DIGITAL OUT SOCKET ON THE BACK OF THE PC (OPTICAL LEAD WITH AN ADAPTER) BUT DON'T GET ANY LIGHT AT THE OTHER END, WHICH I THINK INDICATES NO SIGNAL.
HAS ANYONE GOT ANY IDEAS ON HOW I CAN SUCCESFULLY DO THIS, ANY TIPS WOULD BE APPRECIATED?

  • Solution to my Audigy 4 Digital Output probs... please make a stic

I was recently playing Q3TA with my son when my overheat protection kicked in. I exited to windows to see the temp and throttle back my CPU a tad, and when I returned I had no sound from my digital output. Analog was working fine, however.
    Setup:
    Giga-byte GA-MA78GM-S2H w/780g chipset
    Athlon 64 X2 5000+ BE
    Integrated Realtek HD audio (disabled)
    Integrated ATI HD 3200
    2xGB 800MHZ DDR2
    Creative Audigy 4
Boston acoustics Digital BA735 2. speakers
I went over every setting in all of my consoles, HQ's and drivers. I played with driver versions, DirectX versions, diagnostic programs and procedures in the knowledge base. In defeat, I even wiped out my XP install and started fresh with the Aud-4 removed, using analog on the integrated card thru headphones. Then I disabled the integrated card and reinstalled the Audigy 4 only to find that there was still no sound from the digital speakers.
    Solution?
I[color="#ff0000"] unplugged the power to my speakers, and reconnected everything. As soon as the power was back up, the sound started playing (I had a .MP3 on for testing).
This stumped me for two reasons that occur to me know:
. These speakers (and possibly many others) don't fully power down when you turn the volume knob off and the light on the satellites goes out. The decoder and subwoofer unit keep their light on.
    2. Apparently, some situations introduce a faulty signal to the digital output that scrambles the speaker units and they refuse to operate any longer.
Now I know, unplug the power to my speakers. My system works on all three sampling frequencies in "audio console" 44., 48, and 96KHz. None of the troubleshooting procedures touched my problem, because they didn't even mention the speaker setup, let alone doing a hard reset.
    Please please please!
Make this a sticky for future me!!!

The Digital output jack on the card isn't of optical signal type.....you will need to get those I/O module mention bt johnston2 for optical connection.

  • Dtt3500 and Audigy Gamer, digital output only 2 channel unless its D

Ok I recieved a response concerning my last comment but unfortunatly it did not answer my question at all. I have a DTT3500 and a sound blaster Audigy Gamer hooked up with the digital out to the /8 din adapter. I try the advanced 3d demo that came with the Audigy software and I only hear the front 2 channels, no center and no rears. The demo where you move the little icons and sound moves along with it. I have 5. activated in my windows control center along with audioHQ and digital out only is selected. my DTT3500 has 4./5. digital selected along with dolby digital/pcm audio and digital in. I am not getting the effect of multisurround at all. My center works and my rears work because playing music I can use all 5 speakers. When I use the analogue outputs I hear multisurround from the advanced 3d demo but my center doesnt work. The analogue setup sounds better but without a center channel its useless to me. Am I doing something wrong? I am using the adapter and digital DIN, what gives? The only reason I noticed I wasnt getting surround was while playing games nothing comes from behind you even on 5. games. The goldmine demo doesnt even work right, when the bird flys behind you it disappears but there is still sound from the rears. Analogue fixes this without a center but the manual and setup say to use the digital din. Do I just have a setting wrong? I would like to experiance the full capacity of multispeakers in my games.

    Dennis,
With these speakers the connection that I would suggest would be to use the Digital out on the back of the sound card into the DIN Input on the DTT3500's. This will require a converter cable for /8'' Minidin to standard DIN which can be purchased from here:
    http://us.creative.com/products/prod...0&product=0375
You will also need a standard DIN cable (one should have shipped with your DTT3500's).
This should give you 5. with digital output only enabled on the Audigy.

  • Digital Output problem once again (WIN XP, Audigy

I searched the forums with no luck, actually I searched the whole internet with no luck - so far.
    My problems in a nutcase:
    - I can't find the button for Digital Output (the one which enables it, Windows XP's sound mixer used to have that option with some ?windows build?, but I can't find it since I installed creative drivers, it's just gone...).
    - If I find the digital output on-button with your help, is it even possible hear music with add-ons trough digital-optical cable or should I buy some mono-cable? :O
    To be specific:
I have the Creative Audigy 4 Bulk, which of course supports SPDIF Digital output. I bought expesi've optical cable that I could finally use my hifi 5. speakers with movies trought computer. I have new 700 euro amplifier, and it supports everything, so the problem isn't with that one, anyways, let's get touch with the real problem.
What ever drivers I'm using, I can't find the digital output section anywhere. Creative drivers has one SPDIF-button, but it affects nowhere. So, I can't even get the Digital Sound on, because windows mixer has no button for that with my windows xp, weird. I also tried to install windows vista, and there wasn't either any options, where I could put the digital output on.
Which drivers and which add-ons should I install to get that Digital Output to work.
If I manage to find the button for digital output from some drivers, can I also listen music while it's connected via optical-digital cable, or am I just able to hear sound from dolby digital movies? Is it even possible to get everything work with my optical cable (music/games and movies at the same time).

. Your card doesn't have optical output, only "coaxial" digital. You will need a stereo (or camcorder) cable with one mini jack on one end and 2 (or 3) RCA connectors on the other. The white RCA will be the one you need.
The setting is on the "Creative AudioHQ" at the "Surround Mixer" selection. It is called "Digital Output Only". Or if you use the little icon on the taskbar, at the "Speakers" on "Speaker Selection" you have the same option (a check mark under the selection of speakers).
    2. If you read the FAQ, you will get surround sound (5.) ONLY from DVD-Video that are encoded in DolbyDigital or DTS and ONLY if you pass-trough the digital signal to the receiver to do the decoding. In ALL other cases you will get STEREO PCM signal.
    3. If your receiver is a decent one you should have an analog surround input (5. analog input). in that one you can plug the analog outputs from your card in order to have surround sound all the time (like in the games).

  • Coaxial Digital Output on TV to SB Audigy 2 Val

I have the Creative SB Audigy 2 Value card installed on my computer and the Altec Lansing GT505 surround 5. speaker system. I also have a Toshiba MD4FP DVD/TV combo. My speakers can only be connected using th standard red and white RCA plugs. My TV has a Coaxial Digital Output jack on the back and red/white/yellow plugs on the front that are used by my PS2. I understand the speakers cannot be connected directly to the TV unless I use the headphone jack but when i try that it sounds bac and I get sound out of only 2 speakers. Is there a way to connect a coaxial audio cable from my soundcard (i think it has the digital jack) to the Coaxial digital output on my tv? Will that give me the ability to play my TV through my speakers?

  • Digital output for SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Prob

I am trying to connect SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum to my Amplifier (Sony DVP-NS92V) via the SPDIF coaxial digital connection (I have also tried the digital output at the rear panel), unfortunitely the output i got is only on the left and right front speakers. I am currently having a 7. channel surround system. I have clicked both the dital output only under speaker settings and advanced control for play control, and I have also?tried by using both DTS and THX media file, but still does not work. Can anybody help ?

With a digital connection (optical or coaxial SPDIF) that is normal. Check this sticky thread for more info:

  • HELP! I'm losing my mind - Audigy 2 ZS digital coax output to receiver

I've very close to throwing my Vista media center PC out the window trying to get my Audigy 2 ZS to output a digital signal to my home theater amp/receiver. I've read as much as I can find on the subject and, as far as I understand it, the digital out 3.5mm mini jack on the back of the ZS is actually a multi speaker output designed for connection to Creative speakers, but to output a digital signal to my amp I need to plug in a 3.5mm mini jack to RCA connector then connect my digital coax cable to it and the other end to the amp, so I bought this little guy to connect to the ZS and my RCA coax cable: http://www.rakuten.com/pr/product.aspx?sku=263718980
Then I went to Vista's Sound-Playback settings and disabled the onboard sound (which was working perfectly thru the amp via its SPDIF digital optical output) and made the "SDPIF Out Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS (WDM)" the default device. I had already installed Daniel's excellent driver/software pack 5 for it so I have the latest drivers and control software. Then I went to the Creative Audio Console and selected "SPDIF Passthrough (Dolby Digital / DTS Digital Out)". Then I did a reboot for good measure.
In the meantime I set my amp to the Digital Coax 1 input into which I'd plugged the coax cable from the ZS's digital out port. When I rebooted and played music I get the green bars flashing next to SPDIF Out in the Playback tab of Vista's Sound settings indicating that the sound card is outputting an SPDIF signal, but don't hear anything out of the amp. Interestingly if I change the "Digital Output (PCM) Sample Rate Setting" to 96Khz in the Creative Audio Console my amp recognizes the change and flashes 96Khz which makes me think there is at least some information coming down that coax (I then switched it back to 48Khz).
The most annoying thing about all this is that my crappy onboard mobo sound has a digital optical output which connects directly to the amp and just works immediately without any messing around - when my amp receives a DTS or Dolby signal it says it's receiving that type of signal and pushes it out to my 5.1 speakers nicely. And this ZS card is supposed to be an upgrade to give me more functionality but I can't get a peep out of it (digitally), although the analog speaker outputs do work on the ZS so it's not a completely faulty card and actually makes me think I'm probably just missing something very basic.
I'd be very grateful for any suggestions/ideas before my media center ends up as a new modern art feature in my yard.
    Cheers
    Simon

Generally i found this thread because i've also got troubles with coax output my problem is in choppy sound with scratches and clipping in Windows 7, when i try to play Dolby Digital or DTS audio in movies or even test sounds from speaker control panel. In win xp all works fine - and in win7 only pcm stereo can normaly being output.
I try with different drivers (official and from daniel) and nothing helps...
yep...bios of my motherboard was configured to lower CPU ratio and voltage when idle (C1E option). I turn this option off and all works fine now)

  • AUDIGY 2NX DIGITAL OUTPUT PROB

  • How to disable SP-DIF (digital) output on Audigy

Hi, I am using Audigy 2 soundcard connected to Altec Lansing ADA885 speakers. These speakers have built-in Dolby Digital Decoder, and of course SPDIF input for this. Additionally, they have inputs for analog front and rear speakers signal. They can be switched to different operation modes : Dolby Digital decoding, Dolby ProLogic decoding, stereo, and quad modes. I have connected them to my Audigy 2 using analog connections, and also digital output. The problem is, that they process both kind of inputs (analog and digital) all the time in most modes simultaneously. For example, when I set them to "quad" mode (for gaming) they process analog signal that Audigy deli'vers them, but also they attempt to decode the signal from digital input. This produces some kind of phase distortions (basses dissappear and the sound becomes slightly muffled). Possible solutions could be : - disable digital decoding in speakers when using analog output from Audigy - this can't be done, these speakers' decoder is not configurable, - disconnect digital cable when using analog output from Audigy - obvious solution, however not very comfortable - disable "ON-DEMAND" spdif output on Audigy card and enable it when necessary. This would be most satisfying option for me. But.... is it possible at all ? Just something similar to the "Digital output only" setting in soundcard panel, but in my case i'd like to have an option of "Analog outputs only". Thanks in advance for any help Greetings, Martin

  • New Dell, Audigy MB Advanced has no "enable digital output" b

    Hey all.
I have a brand new Dell Dimension 550 system, on which I ordered the Audigy MB Advanced.
Actually I intended to get the X-Fi Music soundcard, but apparently spaced out and clicked the wrong thing. Bummer for me. Oh well I'll buy it later.
Anyway I have no digital sound from my speakers, which are Boston Acoustics Digital MediaTheater. This is the 4. setup that came with my '98 Gateway G6-450, back when BA and Gateway were partners. These are *not* some of the speakers (I think like their 735 series) that require digital drivers. It's either a single analog cable, or a single digital cable, to run the full 4. setup, from the subwoofer plugged into the PC.
Analog sound works fine, but I cannot get digital to work. The problem lies, I believe, in that I don't think the software recognizes that digital output is possible. Again, this is the OE soundcard, but it has the blue input port, the green output one, the pink/grey microphone/rear surround output, and also a yellow and black port, which are for surround connections (that I don't need).
I will be upgrading to a better soundcard, but for now I just want digital to work. This is a common issue with people going from Win98 to XP, it seems, but... though I've found a post or two on this forum, the FAQ on BA's site, and some stuff via Dell and the Web, I really can't figure this out.
I've run the BIOS sound test, that checked out. No control panel option works to get digital output working, and I've confirmed with Dell that digital output should be an option. Should be able to click on Volume Control in the taskbar, which brings up the Creative Surround Mixer. From there, click Speaker Settings. I have Speaker/Headphone Selection set to 4/4. and the "Synchronize with Control Panel" box checked. Below that should be at least one more box, including "Enable Digital Output" or similar. But it's not present at all. Blank.
I don't know if a software reinstall would work or not. Anybody know what's up, here?
    Thanks!
    =S2=

I've recieved a reply from Support telling me to email Dell, but from seeing other posts and topics, I have seen that this is useless. Most of the other people who have encountered this problem have resolved it via Creative not Dell.....Why do I have to go to Dell? Argh ?Thanks for the reply though :\

  • Audigy 2 value where is the option for digital output? Help

  • Audigy 4 - Enabling digital

I have search the web and the forums extensi'vely and cannot find a solution to the problem I have. I cannot enable the digital i/o on my "SB Audigy 4 [AS800]" card. The previous card I had (a SB Li've!) worked by checking a checkbox in the speaker settings called "digital only". With this new card I do not have this option. Though I can see it in the help. Have I incorrectly installed the driver so it does not think I have a digital output?
    Thanks,
    --Peter

Thanks for the hint. I've carefully gone through all the controls that I can see and still cannot find anything that locks the digital output. I am a bit concerned about the help that says:
    Using Advanced Controls
Some audio source sliders may have red plus signs above them. This indicates that an Advanced Control is available for that source. You can only access an Advanced Control if that feature is supported by your computer's hardware.
Depending on the audio device detected, the following Advanced Controls may be available:
Digital Output Only - this feature allows you to use digital speakers with your audio card.
Record Without Monitoring - this feature allows you to do analog recording without any output from the speakers. Playback will not be muted until you start recording.
Microphone Boost (20 dB) - this feature allows you to boost your microphone's sensitivity.
Can anyone tell me if the dio actually works on the audigy 4 card?

  • SPDIF passthrough with Audigy SE and Digital I/O Car

Does anyone have this working or know if its possible with Vista 32bit's?Comparing my pc (built-in soundcard) with my new PC that has the Audigy, it looks like there are some tabs missing in Control Panel in the Playback->Digital Output Device screen, but I'm not sure if thats relevant or not. Maybe its possible to set SPDIF passthrough somewhere else?

Ok, well...can anyone tell me, for certain, which cards work with SPDIF passthrough in Vista? I really need this working, and if I have to buy another card, that would suck, but I need it for my htpc.
