Audigy 2 ZS drivers & 5.1 Medusa Head

I believe I require an older OEM cd image- or just an older driver- for my Audigy 2 ZS, because the one off of my OEM CD (5.2..442) is right behind the latest version (5.2.2.444), and neither are compatible with my Medusa headset (tons of noise distortion- the kind you get when you blow your speakers- at medium volume levels, especially in the rear speakers). The Canadian sales representati've for the makers of the Medusa, Speedlink, forwarded me an email from a guy that once had EXACTLY the same problem until he reinstalled everything, using the original files from his OEM CD. Does anyone have anything I could try? 5.2.3.00 has the same issues, by the way.
The bass redirection software doesn't help at all.
The Speedlink fellow already mailed me another amp & headphone set, but that didn't make a difference. My money's on the CL driver being the problem, but it could be something else. Actually, I'd prefer not having to go back to an older driver because I don't want to miss out on any fixes the newer drivers bring, so hopefully there's a better solution to my problem.

Same problem with the Audigy (first edition). Here's what I've found so far:
If I connect the headset to either the front or rear 5. -output- on the back of the Medusa amplifier, with the amp off, the rear distortion vanishes. I made the connection using the "cable D" that came with the headset.
I've tested this with all three channels (plugging the headset into each front/rear/center output one at a time) to test the distinct speakers in the headset.
No distortion from any of them, but the front and rear speakers are definitely different in terms of bass/treble - the bass seems much stronger from the front headset speakers, and treble is stronger from the rear ones. The rear speakers seem to have a thinner sound overall, possibly part of the distortion problem when connected to the amp.
According to the Medusa manual, the front and rear speakers have the same specs (different from the center and subwoofers), but I'm not so sure after trying this.

  • Windows 7 won't install any Audigy 2 ZS drivers

I did a clean install of Windows 7 and noticed right away, that the drivers for my Audigy 2 ZS didn't get installed. Here is the error I was given via device manager / properties for card:
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
This operation requires an interacti've window station.
    Drivers I've tried:
From Windows Update, dated October 4, 2008<
    Creative's website, Driver version?2.8.00, dated July 3 2009
Creative's website, Beta driver version 2.8.00, dated Oct 2009
    Creative's website, Vista driver 2.2.0002, dated March 6, 2007
    danielk's audigy support pack 3.5
When I tried the Creative executables and danielk's support pack, I do not get any errors during any parts of the install(s).
Windows Updates says the install failed with unknown reason. When I attempt to "update driver" through device manager, it says it finds the driver but it gives me the same error as mentioned?above: This operation requires an interactive window station.
What else can I try? I've also done an "upgrade" install of Windows 7 on top of the clean install (out of desperation). At this point, I feel like reloading my XP imaged install,?so I can have working audio again.
So, please, if there is something I can try, then please help. Is there a way to do a "logged" install and send it to someone at Creative?
    Thanks for your time

So, just to update everyone on my situation. I think my issue was caused by the migration tool, Windows Easy Transfer.
I formatted the partition the partition that Windows 7 was installed on, and did a fresh reinstall. Upon first boot of the new reinstall, the audio drivers were still not installed. I then immediately tried to "update drivers" via device manager and Windows installed the latest beta drivers from October , 2009 with no errors.
Is there any reason why the install won't install the drivers on its own? Did it not ship with Audigy 2 ZS drivers?

  • Audigy 2 card with Audigy 2 ZS drivers and Live Driv

I recently bought a Li've!Dri'veII bay for my system. To use this I plugged it into my Audigy 2 Value card which I have had for about 2 years. The bay came bundled with a SoundBlaster Li've! Platinum.
I tried to install my drivers, but as a Platinum, but the Bay still did not respond, didnt send anything out or receive a signal in. There is definitely power because when I plug in the headphones you can hear some white noise, but thats it.
I searched round for a solution and one was to install the Audigy 2 ZS drivers. I did this by following the following instructions:
    http://driverheaven.net/showthread.php?s&threadid=45004
This allowed me to also enable lots of extras such as the THX console and other stuff previously unused as my Audigy 2 drivers didnt have them.
    Now I have 2 problems:
    ) my Li've!Dri'veII Bay isn't working and
    2) In games I get sound glitches such as random noises that shouldnt be there, Missing noises such as gunshots are not heard or parts of the noise are missing.
So what do I need to do to sort this out, because I do wish to be able to use my system to its full potential.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

    David,
If you go into the surround mixer or Windows mixer do you see a listing for the front panel inputs (line in2/mic in2, Aux 2, etc)? If so, are any of them muted? If you go to start/programs/Creative/SB Audigy/Audio HQ/Device Settings, do you show a headphone tab? If so what options are enabled in there?
Double check your ribbon cable connection and maybe even swap sides of the cable.

  • No Standalone Creative Labs Audigy 2 ZS Drivers Availble for Downl

I bought a new motherboard today and planned on updating my system with the new hardare. I cannot find my Audigy 2 ZS drivers CD and it does not look like there is a standalone driver for this card available on the Creative Labs website.
I have e-mailed tech support and awaiting a response. I have a feeling I will be forced to pay for a new drivers CD in order to get this card to work.
Thet fact that Creative Labs has this lack of support is appalling to me. Nvidia, MSI, Intel and every other component manufacturer in my system has drivers readily available for download on their website. It looks like Creative is trying to profit from the consumer and this makes me sick, very sick.
I am about to throw this card out the window and buy a Turtle Beach.
Creative can also expect a lot of bad press regarding this issue from me.

    Ioman,
What's the model number off of the card? Also, could you get the inkstamp number from the underside of the card? This will help identify exactly which model of the card this is. Was this a retail card, or was this originally an OEM?
The reason I am asking this is that if the driver required a previous version of the drivers installed it would have given you an error stating that it couldn't find the required drivers. If it said that it couldn't find the card then it may be different problem altogether. I know for a fact (as I have installed this driver on a bare system before) that the EAX 4.0 Update will install without any other drivers installed (in fact one of the systems at my house is setup like this).
    Jeremy
Edit: SB's advice is pretty good also... except I would suggest that instead of doing a manual install via device manager, browse the extracted folder to Audio/Drivers and run the program called CTzapxx.exe (which is the application for manual driver installation). Make sure to disable any Antivirus or Antispyware software prior to running this, as they can interfere in the installation of drivers.Message Edited by Jeremy-CL on 07-4-2005 0:02 AM

  • Audigy 2 zs drivers

    Audigy 2 zs drivers?Hello all!
I need some help updating my drivers for the Audigy 2 zs. I have recently reformatted and installed XP sp3 and I have lost my CD for my soundcard. My PC is quite old and it is an Alienware. Now, I can install the drivers from Alienware support (from 2003 I think?) and SBAX_WBUP2_LB_2_09_006 from the Creative website, but SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_8_00 and SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_8_007 is where the problem starts.
If I install either of those I have no sound. Now they do install and I have no problems in device manager, but for some reason my sound is set to minimum and it is greyed out so I cannot turn it up? The sound icon in the task bar is also missing (probably because it is not checked in the options which are greyed out lol).
I have tried numerous times but it just will not update past SBAX_WBUP2_LB_2_09_006? I've uninstalled, used drivercleaner etc, but it always remains greyed out.
Please help because I'm having some sound issues in some games and I think this may fix it.
I have had no problems in the past when I've reformatted?

Reinstalled XP, installed latest driver only and did this before any anti-virus software was installed.
    And it all works.
In case anyone has this problem then I can only think it may be the anti-virus causing it. I have bitdefender and did disable it, but I think something was still causing problems?
Anyway thanks for the help lol.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Drivers In

Hey guys, I was just wondering if creative has given any release info Audigy 2 ZS Drivers? I hope I don't hear that same old lame excuse. I hope they can release them by the end of this week. If anyone knows, please share the info. THX!?P.S. (Creative Got Serious Problems)

I'd like to know too given that for 3 months and counting I've had seriously reduced functionality in Vista just like every other Audigy2 owner. I'm not going to purchase one of your XFI cards either just because the drivers are out. Already told my friends I'll be smashing up the audigy2 (got it free anyway) by the end of the month if nothing decent comes out, as I'll be getting the Auzentech X-Merdian 7., which I've always wanted.
I think Vista's WAVE api just highlighted how poor creative's drivers really were when the OS arri'ved. What I can't understand is, like everyone else they must have had the OS for good 5+ months in order to produce beta drivers.Message Edited by Kainzy on 03-09-200704:33 AM

  • Audigy 2 Value + MedUSA Head

    Hi,
I have an Audigy 2 Value and a MedUSA Headset. The headset has a hub, which connects int the soundcard and my speakers and headset then plug into this.
I went to update drivers today, which downloaded and installed fine. I restarted, and now there is no sound from the speakers, yet the sound from headset works fine. I've tried plugging cables back in again, to no avail. I have also tried installing drivers off CD, again sound in headset works but not speakers. They are on, and sound isnt muted... and were working prior to the restart of new driver installation.
I feel something is going wrong though, as I uninstalled the old drivers, installed updated ones and now I no longer have a Creative icon in my taskbar where before I could change volumes etc. I downloaded the Beta drivers which are the only drivers available to download off Creative website for WindowsXP and Audigy 2 Value.
    Anyone any ideas?

  • Audigy Normalizer With Drivers 5.12.4.1

I have just updated my original Audigy card on my windows 2K system and my Audigy 2 on my XP systems the drivers work fine no problems at all apart from the fact the Normalizer is missing in both systems any idea why it has been removed form these latest drivers? I wonder if anyone else has had the same problem as I need a sound card with limiter / compressor as part of it'ss features.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Same problem with the Audigy (first edition). Here's what I've found so far:

  • HELP: Updating to new Beta OpenAL Audigy 2 ZS drivers has permanently screwed my PC

WHY I AM IN THIS MESS:
Here is something silly I did: I tried to use the latest Beta drivers for my Audigy 2 ZS. I followed the Creative procedure, and as expected, I lost the functionality of the EAX console etc. I couldn't see any increase at all in any games (framerate was the same) so I immediately used System Restore to go back to my previous driver set.
Guess what? EAX and the other apps wouldn't work there either! SO basically, it had ruined my entire creative installation, even though I did exactly what they said and took precautions (system retore) to make sure everything was okay.
So, of course, I think 'I'll make sure I put this right, I'll use the Creative 'CleanSweep' procedures to remove and then reinstall my drivers'.
I did this, and guess what now? It wouldn't let me install the Driver CD apps, as the 'cleansweep' has left dozens of bits of junk littering my hard disk and registry. Eventually, after much much work I finally get the apps to install. Everything appears hunky-dory...
Guess what? It isn't. I now get a 'pop/click' sound at the end of sound effects in games. Not all sounds, but enough to make them unplayable. For example in Unreal 2004, I fire the assault rifle and there is a click at the end, in IL2 I fire the guns and every round has a crackle at the end. In any game that plays speech (like NASCAR, Indycar, IL2, Combat Flight Sim 3) there is a click.static at the end of the speech sample. Also, when games load and the soundcard is accessed for the first time there is a burst of static or clicking, also when games close down - not all games however. The problems do not ocurr in Counterstrike Source, unless I play for about an hour and then when a lot of sound effects are playing it gets all crackly and static-filled. None of these effects existed in any of these games before. There are no sound problems with MP3s, video, midi etc (although there is sometimes a click at the end of playing an MP3 - this was also not there before).
This is NOT an EAX problem, as in Unreal 2004 even in 'safe' sound mode (and every other setting) the noise is still there. Same in IL2, all settings same noise.
Needless to say, I am highly annoyed, especially as EXACTLY THE SAME THING happened on my old computer with an Audigy over two years ago after a driver update. In that case, I had used system restore and everything had been okay.
    MY CURRENT SITUATION:
I have just removed everything Creative from my computer, including all registry keys, all Temp references, everything, have followed all the advice given about conflicts etc. I have used the latest Driver Cleaner to get rid of the hidden files creative leaves in your windows system folder. As far as the PC is concerned, there has never been a soundblaster card in this computer. I have reinstalled the original drivers from the retail CD - JUST the drivers.....and it's still there. I still have exactly the same pop/crackle after sound effects. Let me just stress that the system hardware and applications have not been altered - this only started ocurring after installing the Beta drivers.
How can this be happening after I have done a completely clean install, and everything else is as it was when the PC was working fine?
I have even gone to the extent of removing my old PCI modem in case of any conflicts, but it's just the same.
If anyone has had this problem (remember this is not a constant hiss/crackle/pop it is only after sound effects and accessing the card for the first time in apps) and has managed to fix it, please let me know. I'm sure a lot of other people have had this nightmare too - I mean I've had it myself on my old PC!
    P.S. HELP ME.

    Hi, Franky,
I had the same problems with my Audigy 2 ZS and beta driver, brother. I tried everthing- defragmentation, system restore, clean WIN XP- installation- nothing could resolve clicking and framerate drops in games. Then I remembered a MICROSOFT- article about increasing your sound performance. Go to hardware manager and check, whether DMA is selected for your hard dri've. I use a mobile rack for my hard dri'ves and those were incorrectly recognised by my BIOS. Simply activated DMA- by BIOS for the hard dri've- voila, no more sound stuttering !
I guess you suffer from BIOS or data transfer problem. I hope that this hint was helpful !
Drop me a line, if this resolves your problem !
    Good night !

  • Audigy 4 - Vista drivers and software urgently nee

you know... i have this sound card (Audigy 4 - non pro) for over one year now, AND i don`t have a good driver and software for windows vista home premium x64. last driver for this sound card is:
. Creative Sound Blaster Audigy series Vista Driver 2.2.0002 (38.30 MB) 6 Mar 07.
    i mean... 6 mar. 07
how long do i have to wait for you, to relase all the software it is on windows xp oh, this audigy 4 was not intended to use with vista, wright and you want everybody to buy that x-fi sound card with another set of problems in windows vista. nice marketing solution. good for you ONLY.
i`m just tired waiting. my card doesn`t work as it should, nor as it worked in windows xp.
i need all that software. all of it, working under vista. PRONTO!
you will provide that software, or you just lost me as a customer, and along with me, alot more.
btw, daniel_k was only helping people, by providing drivers and software YOU couldn`t, or you just didn`t wanted to. stop deleting his posts or links to the drivers made by him.
just stop that abbusi've marketing strategy, by not releasing software for older sound cards, and forcing customers to buy your new products. no, that wouldn`t happend.

  • Will Soundlbaster Audigy 2 NX Drivers be updated for EAX

I am currently playing games such as Everquest 2 that support EAX4 and the Devs there said you guys need to update the drivers for this card to support EAX4. Is this in the works, if not why not, if so when?
    Thanks in advance....

    Jhagg,
The Audigy 2 NX does not support EAX 4.0. It does support EAX Advanced HD and should work with your games. There have been no announcements of an update to the Audigy 2 NX that would include EAX 4.0.
My understanding is that Everquest 2 is still in beta, so it is hard to know what to expect from the product when it is completed.

  • Trying to install the latest Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS drivers do not inst

I have tried the autoupdate feature here it says I have installed (Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS, DR release .84.0). I downloaed the 3 latest drivers for my SOund Card (SBA2_EAX4DRV_0303.exe, sba2_pcwdrv_lb__84_55-r.exe and SBA2_BETADRV_US_2_05_0000.exe) when I try to install these it tells me I do not have a Audigy 2 Sound Card and goes no further, can anyone please explain why?
    Thank you.

If you're using a dynamic microphone, the Audigy 2 ZS dri've bay has a jumper which you can change for it to support dynamic microphones instead of electret microphones. However once this is done you won't be able to use electret mics until you've changed the jumper setting back.

  • "What U Hear" option not available when installing Audigy 1 web drivers, was available bef

Hello, on the current format of my computer I only installed the latest version of the drivers off of the support website and did not install from the cd that came with sound card. Under Sound Recording from sounds and audio dvices in control panel I can only select SB AUdigy Audio [E400]. Before I remember being able to select "What U Hear".
Was this left out of the web drivers? Is there anyway to get it without isntalling original driver cd?

    coldpenguin,
I can't recall much info for the Audigy but see if the option is listed in the properties setting. Open sounds and audio devices and go to audio tab. Click at Volume button of the 'Sound Recording' column. Now click on Options->Properties. Do you have that option listed?

  • Audigy 4 - WinXP Drivers working on Vista, exept

    Hi,
I've followed the discussions here since the release of Windows Vista, and I have tried a number of combinations to make my Audigy 4 work like on Windows XP. The best configuration I had for now is the follow:?Latest Audigy 4 Windows XP drivers from creative.com?- Install fine- Have all EAX presets working- CMSS, CMSS2 are working - BUT: Windows doesn't recognize the 4. configuration, so that all Valve Source games (Half-Life 2 and mods), and certainly other programs that look in the Windows configuration,?don't run in 4.. But I can hear my music in 4.! (with the CMSS options)?I know there are some other bugs with Vista, but I think that the Vista drivers CAN have all the EAX presets, and the original Creative programs are certainly running on Vista, if there wouldn't be these annoying tests to detect the appropriate hardware. Can anybody help me to enable all EAX presets and edit them like I did on WinXP? I mean, they work on Vista with the XP drivers, why wouldn't they work with the Vista drivers?Alchemy is also running fine exept in one two games:Oblivion with Alchemy and Vista drivers doesn't work well (only bass tones, the high are gone)
With XP drivers on Vista and Alchemy, the game works perfect. I hope that Creative isn't the kind of company who disables features of their products in newer Systems (Vista) just to sell newer hardware... That would be so disgusting...

I had the same trouble with XP drivers on Audigy 2/4 in Vista. The solution I found, was to manually install latest X-Fi drivers, install XP CD apps in compatibility mode. I have speaker settings, EAX console, Diagnostics and Surround mixer working. Of course there's always EAX to be added too.

For recording microphone, clicking on the rec icon does allow me to select microphone. You could try using Windows recording volume control yo select it, it should then?show up correctly in Creative surround mixer in the Rec column.
