Audigy 2 ZS gamer Edition Sound Crack

Hey all. I just want to preface this by saying that I've read over the guide by xmn, and sadly that hasn't helped get rid of my problem.
First of all, I have a Dell Dimension 3000 with 2GB CL2 Dual-Channel RAM, a 3.0GHz Pentium 4 w/HT processor, and a Radeon 9250 256MB PCI Card.
Secondly, the crackling I get happens mainly when I'm using certain games, and not when I'm using Winamp, Windows Media Player, or the like. It seems content to disrupt sound in games like Ragnarok Online, Dark Corners of the Earth, and Beyond Good & Evil, etc.
Originally thinking this was a problem with my old Intel Extreme2 integrated graphics card, I disabled that and used an old nVidia one, before switching out that and using this Radeon model; the problem remained constant, so I'm fairly sure it isn't any DirectX problems.
The Audigy 2 ZS I have installed has only the audio drivers installed with it, which I then patched (the new version includes a basic audio console). The problems remain, but judging that they're happening "outside" of basic Windows operation, I'm beginning to think it might be caused by games believing the default audio device (onboard SoundMAX) to be the one to process sound. Since I've disabled the onboard sound device already, that leaves me guessing.
Further, Control Panel>Sounds & Audio Devices>Audio Tab>Sound Playback > Default Device has Modem #0 Line Playback as an option, and although I've uninstalled and removed the 56k PCI modem, it still shows up, which I think might have something to do with the problem.
I think that's about it. Thanks for trying, people!

So I had the same problem with my Audigy 2 zs... I would also get sqeeling sometimes... I wanted to smash my machine.. I figured I had an old machine so I upgrade... All new components except for the sound card... No Crackles... but within a few months it came back...
Again.. Wanted to smash this sound card. I found this forum and after months nothing helpded except... this one guy told me this crazy idea to go into every nook and cranny, EAX, THX, Volume, etc. and click on default.... Of course I thought this guy was nuts but I figured I tried everything else.. Holy Shiat
!!! It actually worked. What I guess is that my volume was some how too high... OR since the card is very dependent on software for switch modes it reset the card.. Anycase... It eventually came back but as long as I do not put the volume above 70% I do not get it after of course click on default.. . If it comes back I do the same thing and it goes away... Gi've it a try and let me know if this was an isolated fix for myself and the other guy that told me about it.

  • In the grand sceme of things, how out dated is a Audigy 2 zs gamer editi

I was out at a garage sale today and found a Audigy 2 zs gamer card and picked it up for 3 bucks. I really haven't updated a computer for gaming in probably 5 years or so and wanted to know how old or out dated this card was. I realise the x-fi's are out and there probably isn't even a comparsion but for 3 bucks did i get a deal? I have a super old rig that im planning to upgrading for as cheaply as possible and also wondered if this card would work or if it was to out dated for anything good like half-life 2 or something to that standard.

Nice I paid over 00 ? for my Audigy player Audigy cards are still very good cards. But quality on XFI is much better. Tip:?Download only the nnewest driver?Download AudioHQ (AHQ)?Install these two packs. Run for gold ?At this time, Audigy will run better than X-FI cards. Half- Life2 sounds better(X-FI will produce some cut- offs in sound, especially the trains in the game will only sound flat, there is something wrong with it ), and is the best sounding game for Audigy cards. Only in Battlefield2 there should be higher quality with X-FI. (Dont played this game, i dont know really)If you want to know whats different beetween Audigy cards wich is important in the future: X-RAM, and 28 channels. Thats the big difference beetween these cards. Quality: EAX effects/ DSP usage will produce barely hearable noise on Adigy cards, especially with higher- end headphones. Noise is produced in X-FI cards also, but you wont hear it anymore. CMSS is still there on Audigy cards, but i would say you should disable it if you want to play games wich support 5. sourround sound and EAX, because CMSS will suck up the whole power out of this card. But try for your self.

  • Compatibility Between Audigy 2 Drive and Audigy 2 ZS GAMER C

    Greetings,
I had a question about compatibility between an Audigy 2 Dri've and an Audigy 2 ZS Card.
Specifically, the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum Sound Card and the Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS GAMER Edition Sound Card (SB0350).
Is the Audigy2 ZS GAMER Sound Card compatible with the Audigy 2 Platinum Dri've?
If this particular question has already been addressed in another thread, my apologies.
    Thanks,
    Benwajones

I searched (on "external" and "bay," but not "dri've" before I posted) but did not see this message. Is the reverse possible - that is a Audigy original dri've and an Audigy 2ZS sound card?

  • Audigy 2 zs gamer conflicting with c

I have a strange conflict between my sound card and my cdrw dri've. The sound card is an audigy 2 zs gamer edition and the cdrw is a liteon, I can't seem to find the exact model #. I narrowed the conflict down to the spdif connector, when the spdif is connected between the dri've and the sound card during a hard reset or cold boot, the dri've's access light goes solid and it does not show up under device manager. However, during a soft reset this does not occur (assumming it was fixed before the reset). Now I've found that if unplug the spdif, turn the computer on, plug the connector back in, then proceed with a warm reset, everything works fine. But I don't want to do this every time the power goes out or I need to turn off my pc. Is there any way to permanetly resolve this problem without leaving the spdif unplugged?

    Bsoddart,
Try moving the Audigy 2 ZS to a different PCI slot and see if that fixes the conflict as this is most likely the cause of the problem.

  • Sound blaster Audigy 2 zs gamer problem!

(Sound blaster Audigy 2 zs gamer problem!? I had a recent problem recently that caused Windows not to load at all. After getting that fixed and the computer back home I have run into a sound issue. None of the Creative's Media Source programs would work properlly. When clicked on I would get the error that the program has encountered an error and needs to close. Finally un-installed all creative programs and related software and went through the re-install process. Encountered an error that program could not load because plxcore.plx cannot be found. I went through the solution listed on?Creative's web site to fix the?issue and none of fixes worked. Recently deleted everything Creative again by uninstalling all drivers and going through the installshield folder and deletd all creative related items. Went through the install process again. Had the plx error, fixed it and had sound but had the same problems with the Media SOurce as before. Went to Creative's web site through auto updater for a new driver and other essential items needed for my sound. Back to no sound again. Under Windows control panel under sounds and audio devices under volume tab, it will not even let me select the speaker setting or place the volume control on the task bar. @99.3.9.75

Try updating your BIOS to the latest and have the sound card tested on another machine to see if it is still functioning.

  • AC97 problem - sound crack(burst) in games

I have problem with AC97 integrated sound card - MSI KT3 Ultra. I set 4.1 audio (Creative 4.1 speaker) and  sound crack(burst) in some games (The thing, Return to the castle...) I found one solution - in DirectX (8.1) setup I set sound hardware acceleration: NONE, but i do not thing, that this is  the correct solution, because the sound is about 0.5 second (and more) behind the video. Please help, or I will buy Sound Blaster Live! - last possibility :-(

I'm having trouble also with Battlefield 1942 and on-board audio with the same mobo.  With hardware acceleration enabled on the game settings, I'd get spontaneous reboots about an hour into the game.
I'll check those usb filters out.  I hope they fix it.

  • Audigy 2 zs gamer added applicati

Well I see all this help with people who lost their application cd's but I've yet to find anyone who has the cd for my gamer edition soundcard. Now I know the soundcard is basically the same as the regular audigy 2 zs, but when I bought the gamer edtion, I got some added "perks" that were really useful for me like the "THX setup console" and "eax music console with acoustic enchancements" etc... I've yet to find any driver on the creative site or any other site, from iso's or regular rar's that contain all these programs.Sound quality just isn't the same without the ability to fully customize it to my liking and any help as to where I can get these added applications or even just buy a whole new cd for it would make me happy. I got this thing a little more than a year ago and my warranty is out so I know that customer support will probably point me to the online customer support, but I tried that and never got a response back,so please, can anyone help me here?

    Hi
These programs you mentioned are included on Audigy 2 Zs installation CD (even on older Audigy versions CD's (not the THX panel)). You can't get them bundled with driver updates.
You find the DL links for the CD from here.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Gamer+ Thermaltake Armor Case Audio in/o

Hi! I recently bought a Thermaltake Armor Case and have had an Audigy 2 ZS Gamer for a while. I have searched online for a way to connect the front panel audio to the sound card for a while, but to no avail. Does anybody have any experience with this case + an audigy 2 ZS? Are you referring to this card?

As what is shown on the webpage, it only support those mention sound card and is not meant for Audigy 2 ZS.
You can get a minijack to coaxial cable and connect from the sound card through the digital out jack to the coaxial input on your speaker system.

  • Gaming sound cracking

This is well known issue with Lumia series most of the games have same problem sound cracks alot and it skips too don't know why this happens.chipsets are good in all Lumia serious but the OS is not capable too handle the maybe a problem with sound drivers Microsoft should fix this in next Lumia denim update for Lumia 525.

Have you tried any xBox games? If stuff designed for Microsoft's own systems has the same problem, then that developer may be right. He could just have been saving face, not wanting to say "We don't know how to make it better".

  • Audigy 2 ZS Gamer not appearing in soundcard li

Since last september, I have been using my Audigy 2 ZS Gamer card with relati've sucess, and it has worked perfectley. However, just yesterday, it simply stopped working. Anything that is soundcard enhanced doesn't work, and the card does not even appear in the list of cards I can choose from in my windows sound settings. In my device manager, the card is said to be functioning normally, and has no device conflicts. Creative diagnostics detects the card, but Wave, Midi, Mixer and Mixer settings report as "failed" Also, when I double click on the creative system volume icon, it says that the card is not detected.
I have reinstalled my drivers and even opened up the case and made sure the card was in place, but nothing I do seems to work. I'm not sure why this would happen, as I haven't done anything to cause my soundcard to suddenly stop working...(the most recent thing I did before my soundcard stopped working was install battlefield 2, but I doubt that has anything to do with it...)
Any ideas and suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

My system specs, by the way, are as follows
    Windows XP
    Pentium IV .9ghz
    768 MB RRAM
    ATI RADEON 9800 Pro
Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Gamer
And for any device conflicts, I guess you should know that I am running ZoneAlarm firewall as well as Norton Antivirus 2005...both of which have caused conflicts with my soundcard in the past.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Gamer - hw ac-3 decode during DVD playback unsta

    hey,
I've set my audigy 2 zs gamer to decode ac-3 and dts for me, but there are some problems. When I use windvd 4, the audio lags a little and if I skip around, the sound stutters. If I use WMP0, which uses the installed ac3filter to pass ac-3 to the zs, skipping around will cause wmp to freeze and sometimes playback of both video and audio will be at an overly fast rate.
the nature of these problems leads me to suspect a dvd software problem, but if anyone else has gotten this to work well, please pass along your configuration.
    thanks,
    the_wolf_pak

AC3filter is not a really good software choice to pass AC3 streams to in-PC hardware.
The fact is that DVD softwares seems to modifies a bit the AC3 stream before outputing it. PowerDVD perfected its SPDIF output with one of the latest patch for the 5 version.
If sound is lagging with a software like that, verify your PC configuration (BIOS, DMA, drivers, ACPI config, etc).
    Also install reclock ( http://reclock.free.fr )
    and AC3DTS Xform ( http://inmatrix.osnn.net/ac3xform.exe ).

Hey, I've been interested for some time in setting up the headphone/microphone in the front of my case. The only thing that is stopping me from doing so is the fact that I can't seem to locate which pin is which on the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS/Gamer. • Strange Audigy 2 ZS Gamer Is

Hey all. Just picked up an Audigy 2 ZS Gamer today, and have spent the last 6 hours or so trying to get the thing to work. Went through all the basic stuff, ie, making sure onboard sound was disabled in bios, uninstalling/reinstalling drivers, installing latest drivers, etc.
Anyway, the problem was that I got no sound out of my speakers. All tests ran fine, but just no sound. So finally I was fed up, and was going to go back to my onboard sound. Just for the hell of it, I fired up a song, then started plugging the speakers into every port on the card. Suddenly, I was hearing music. But here's the weird part: the speakers are plugged into the microphone jack. So obviously, I'm unable to use my headphones with microphone, as there is effecti'vely no headphone jack on my card. Anybody have any thoughts on this? Maybe I just have a bum card?
    Thanks in advance

Well I think it's the sound card drivers myself. I have been using the Soundblaster Li've Value Card with the 999 Sound Blaster Li've Windows98SE driver files and it worked great with all the Nivida 66.XX drivers that I have downloaded from the www.nvidia.com web site.
After installing the sound card Soundblaster Audiogy2 EZ sound card and it's associated drivers and programs my entire computer has gone down hill. DX dig won't work now. MS Media Player 9.0 was shot. My sound card is not detected by windows 98SE anymore. It was showing in the device manager but the multimedia options were all grayed out and the sound icon vanished on my systray.
My video card has worked flawlessly for the last 3 years and that is with all the different Asus and Nvidia drivers that are issued and WHQL certified by MS.
I bet it's the sound card and not the video card. Both should be certifed to work with Windows 9X/XP by MS quality Assurance dept. Did Creative get their sound card drivers certified by MS? I bet not.
It's been my experience with video cards over the last 6 years that certain companies have better video driver developers than other companies. Nvidia and ATI have been good for the last few years at this work. Creative Labs has not been good at video card or sound card driver development IMHO. I remember having problems with my last Creative Labs Graphics Blaster TNT video Card drivers. It failed to work as there were some remenants of the old drivers on my OS from an older video card.
I have found that you must have all programs turned off when you download new drivers and you must have programs turned off before you try to install new software. That means using MSCONFIG.EXE's start up tab to disable a lot of things before you install new software. If not you are asking for problems. Also if you don't fully remove all the old driver files before you install new one it too can cause major headaches.
