Audigy 2 ZS I/O & driver questi

I'm trying to use this Audigy 2 ZS as a mixerless frontend to record with Cakewalk
Sonar. In Cakewalk I can only see one pair of inputs available. Can I use both the
input on the PCI card and the Aux 2 or the Mic input on the breakout box at the same
time? How do I get all the inputs recognized? I thought using the ASIO driver would
help but it makes me switch the audio rate to 48K instead of 44.. Does the ASIO driver
only work at 48k? What are the correct drivers to use for recording into Sonar?
Thanks,
JD

Audigy 2 Zs do have another ASIO driver for 24-bit/96 kHz. You need to set it acti've through Sonar Options..Audio..Drivers tab (when ASIO is selected as device). Unselect all I/O drivers there and then select those 24/96 I/Os. NOTE: 24/96 mode is for line sources only so, no Mic input w/ this driver w/o external mic pre-amp through line input.
Audigy cards gives best quality w/ 96 kHz so, it's best if you use it in your projects ... you can then, after final mixdown (to 24/96 WAV file), use software like Voxengo r8brain for SRC (96 kHz ->44. kHz) and dithering (24-bit->6-bit) w/ lowest quality loss (SRC and dithering made w/ Sonar don't give as good results).
W/ ASIO 24/96, or any other than ASIO 6/48 driver, you can record from one source at once only. W/ ASIO 6/48 you should be able to record from all separately listed sources simultaenously and w/ kX drivers maybe from couple sources more.

hi i have the audigy 2 ZS platnium and i do not use the i/o dri've. my question is, if i remove the dri've will my soundcard still function properly? thanksMessage Edited by xjdmb6a2six on 0-2-2006 05:3 AM

Yes, the card itself will work fine, you won't be able to use the remote or any of the inputs/outputs on the dri've (of course), but the card itself will be fine.

  • Audigy 4 pro/"non pro" driver confus

do audigy 4 and audigy 4 pro drivers differ? the newest pro is only beta and a few months older than the "non pro". also, despite having bought a 4 pro, it never says so, neither in the system or when using autoupdate (installed products: Sound Blaster Audigy 4, DR release 2.5.0), auto update does not tell me to download the non pro driver though. I'd be glad if someone could tell me which driver to use

You find the latest drivers (fits for X-FI & Audigy 2 & 4 serie) from station-drivers.
These drivers are even WHQL (eg. passed MS quality test).

  • Midi ports line in ports Fire Wire etc on the Audigy 2 platinum, new Creative Driver for Vis

Hi, I have been using my Audigy 2 platinum dri've for a few years now and have been very pleased with it, the main things I do on my pc is music creation mainly Midi but also some analogue audio as well, I also do lots of video making. I am just about to build a new system with Vista ultimate as the platform, I currently use XP Pro. I have little use for Creative?s own software and personally I do not think it is that good, I know Creative have released a new driver for my sound card But, my question is will my Midi port connections and things like my line in and the auxiliary ports and the fire wire port on the front platinum panel work with this new driver, and without the Creative software installed on my pc, and as we all no by now it looks like we will not be seeing any at all, or not for ages yet. you see I am a wheelchair user and I can not readily fiddly about a the back of my pc that is why a bought the sound blaster so I can easily plug in and unplug what I like, can anyone give me some help or advice on this issue please. ??

Guess I wasn't clear enough. I have uninstalled the soundcard and reinstalled over a dozen times even going so far as making sure all the drivers that the device properties lists are really deleted from the system. I have resinstalled DirectX at least twice using the latest version from MS. The only thing I have not done with DirectX so far is installed the SDK version which I will be doing eventually anyway. I even uninstalled and then reinstalled my video card as it shared files with the sound card. As for getting the latest version of openAL I see little point in that as Windows forces openAL through DirectX anyway and none of my games use it. Nor does the device depend on it to work. Any other suggestions?

  • Error with Sound Blaster Audigy 2 installation...driv

    Hi
I am really stuck with this issue and was wondering if someone out there could help. I have an Audigy 2, and have had it working for a long period of time. I had to re install Windows not so long ago and since then I have found a number of errors with my sound.
Firstly there are a lot of pops and clicks when either gaming or playing audio files. Admittedly the pops and clicks happen a lot more when gaming (multiple sounds playing at once ?).
Therefore I decided to come onto creatives site and download the new drivers for my sound card. I was still running the original drivers from the CD supplied, so felt it was about time.
I downloaded the file SBA2_PCWDRV_LB__84_55-R, which is the correct update for my card and tried to install it.
It comes up with a message:
Setup could not detect and Sound Blaster Audigy 2 on you system.
Please ensure that your sound blaster hardware is properly installed before running this setup program.
    setup will not exit
After that message i was a little confused, because as far as I was concerned everything was working ok, sound was coming out and was coming out correctly from my 5. surround system.
So i double clicked on the Creative Volume Control to check everything was on.
I'm not sure if this is an error but a long the top where you select the output device mine says:
    SB Audigy [A000]
I'm not 00% sure but I don't think it said that before, I think it said something else, but I could be wrong.
I decided to uninstall my sound card and re-install. Everything installed absolutely fine from the CD, recognised the card and no complaints.
So I tried to re-install the driver update, and same message. (And the output device is still SB Audigy [A000].
Again I uninstalled and tried the Beta patch on the off chance that that would work, still nothing, it does not recognise the card in my computer.
I definately have an Audigy 2 and it has worked properly allowing me to update it before.
Sorry to have such a long message, but I am really confused about all of this and would really like to get everything working properly.
Any advice and help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    fedepolito,
I assume that you are running WinXP with Service Pack 3. Did you do a clean sweep of all the Creative Software and reinstall from the A2ZS CD? Do you get sound then?

  • Audigy 2 zs platinum front drive bay mic2 not worki

hey all I finally got my AD_EXT wire to make my audigy 2 card work with the front dri've bay but the problem now is I am in vista ultimate 32bit, all drivers installed right, all cables plugged in but the mic2 is not working....... I'm using a dynamic mic Samson Q7 microphone with the XLR cable. This microphone I heard does not need a preamp so it should powered up.
I called creative and the guy supposed to send me a article to read to fix it but so far no luck in my email about it.
anyone staff members here know the link to that article?

Maybe this will help out:? Under Control Panel ---> Sounds and Audio Devices --> Hardware I have the following list. CD-RW SOHR-5239SDVD_RW ND-3550AMPU-40 Compatible MIDI DeviceUnsupported Standard Game Port - Location: on PCI BusCreative SB Audigy 2 ZS (WDM) - Location PCI Slot 2 (PCI bus 5, Device 7, Funtion 0)Creative Game Port - Location: PCI Slot 2 (PCI bus 5, device 7, function )Audio CodecsLegacy Audio DriversLegacy Video Capture DevicesVideo Codecs? All of them are listed as "Working Properly". The MPU-40, the unsupported game port, creative SB Audigy 2 ZS, Audio codecs, legacy Audio Drivers, and the Creative Game port were all uninstalled prior to my latest re-installation. When the windows install wizard popped up, I cancelled, so everything on that list was installed using the latest creative ZS Platinum driver for x64.

  • Installing a new driver quest

I noticed there are new drivers (/06) out there for the SB Audigy cards. My question is, do I need to uninstall the existing drivers first? Or, do I just install new downloaded drivers over top?
I know with video card drivers that you need to uninstall the old ones first...
    Thanks for any input!

    Creative is, uh, different.
You better just uninstall Audio Console, reboot, and run the new driver update (which also installs Audio Console.)
That's what I did. Works perfect. They uninstall the old driver, ask you to reboot (say yes), then install the new driver and Audio Console. Then they ask you to reboot (say yes), and this is done before Windows Startup programs run so your virus scanner and stuff shouldn't interfere. Just make sure you shut that down before initially running the download setup so the first part goes right.
Uninstalling Creative stuff has often caused unpleasant effects when trying to install it again. Like "No SoundBlaster audio hardware installed, please install such and run setup again," and the like. Sometimes only "format c:" fixes this!
Make sure you also download and install the DVD Audio update after installing the new driver.

  • Driver quest

I just bought the blaster audigy 2 zs. After install I checked for updates which the site said there was and it went ahead and installed them. My question is, I noticed driver updates went in update, did I need to delete previous drivers before update? I've been having screen freeze problems with sound leaving first, then Nascar 2003 crashing or rebooting PC. I have deleted all video drivers reinstalled lastest version from nvidia so I guess I'm looking more towards the soundcard being the problem. Before I just had onboard sound. The only thing I did there before install of soundcard was disable onboard sound in Bios. Having problems in other games also.
    Thanks,
    Happy New Year!

  • Beta Driver Quest

I've seen quite a few threads about beta drivers and am willing to try them since the normal channels of driver installation I have been attempting over the past two nights are failing me. Are these a self extracting executable or do you need the original CDROM? (And if they are a self extracting executable, then Creative, PLEASE LET IT REMAIN THAT WAY FOREVERMORE!)

To clarify - I am talking about the Audigy 2 beta drivers that are talked about here -

  • Dell Audigy 2 and Windows SP3 driver and static problems

    SB0243
Ok, Creative you and Dell have left us customer behind and giving us the shaft.
I know you tell us to go to Dell to get drivers, and Dell still has the same driver posted they had when i bought my PC in 2003.
Funny thing is that the only driver i find that work without the static problem is the one from the creative CD from 2003. The only catch is that none of the other sound Apps will install or work with windows SP3. So you end up with a card that has sound without static but only in two speaker mode, no mixer, EAX, CSMM, sound bank, etc... you know all the other stuff.
I have installed Danial K driver at one time and they worked good for months then the static came back one day. Now after a fresh install of windows with SP3 i end up here with only the old driver working with just two speakers.
This is very sad that a big company like creative can not create a driver that works with current software. You need to fire all your programmer and go hire two with all the money you paid everyone else and maybe then these two top programmer might be able to make something that works. This has become a joke in the sound industry.
It was said that this ship is sinking, i think it has sunk at this point, us rats are jumping ship to some other card that works. Most likey it is not going to be from creative.

  • SB Live 5.1 for Dell Vista driver questi

I've been reading this board and though many Sound Blaster issues are covered on it I don't think the specific issues I am having were discussed. Pardon me if they were. I have a Dell Dimension 4600 with the SB Li've 5. card for Dell. After updating my computer with a clean install of Vista Home Premium Vista did not recognize my card as a Soundblaster but as a "mulitmedia device". For a day or so I had no sound until suddenly Windows Update provided a driver for the Soundblaster 5., installed it and I had sound again. OK, not as good as before (no mixers, etc) but stereo sound and both my speakers and my subwoofer were functioning properly. Then, for reasons I won't get into here, I had to completely reinstall Vista again, once again a clean install. This time, after several days of no sound, Windows update did not provide any drivers. So I installed the original drivers provided by Dell and it installed the SB card and it worked, at least until I started getting BSODs and I was forced to uninstall it. Once again back to a "multimedia device" in Device Manager I tried every which way of getting MS to install its driver again with no luck. So this afternoon I installed drivers for xp and an update patch, both downloaded here from Creative and once again the SB works, though I have disabled it to avoid more blue screens. My questions:? Can I remove the drivers without removing the Sound Blaster card as a device in Device Manager so that Vista's Windows Update?will see it as a Sound Blaster card without a driver and provide the drivers as it did during the first installation? After I installed the Creative drivers I tried, though Device Manager, updating the drivers by having Windows Update search for them and the response I got from Windows Update was that I "have the latest drivers", clearly wrong. OK, Creative is not supporting the SB Li've 5. in Vista and I cannot use the Kx drivers because they do not support the Dell OEM Sound Blaster. Fooling Windows update seems to be the only way I can get around buying a new sound card at this point. Anyone have any suggestions?

Kx help files say the Sound Blaster OEM for Dell is not supported and I already tried it. I think I may have stumbled on something because the card now seems to be operating properly and though Device Manager lists the Creative driver for the card if you look inside at the Drii'ver Details, among the Creative files listed are two files by Microsoft, dmk.sys and portcls.sys that are clearly marked "vista_rtm", so somehow I may have gotten a mix of Creative and MS drivers since I have the very limited "mixer" that comes with the Vista SB driver. I am no techie, not by a long shot, but as long as the card works and I get no blue screens and no reports back from Security Manager complaining about a conflict I am going to leave everything just as it is. I don't play games and just need a sound card that works. It actually sounds pretty good now. I wish there was a mixer and bass/treble control but I can li've without it, especially since drivers really aren't finished for Vista. Thanks for your suggestions.

  • New Audigy 2 nx - probably a stupid quest

I bought an Audigy 2 nx along with a new Dell XPS laptop. I want to play games. Do I have to hook up the Audigy to external speakers, or will it work with the speakers in the laptop? I have 2 sets of external speakers, very nice ones with subwoofer, etc., that I can use, but I travel alot, and in my down time, want to play games with really good sound. I use the external speakers with my PC at home.

    Catshavestaff
You will have to use external speaker to connect to the Audigy 2 NX for sound output. The built in speaker in the laptop is connected only to the laptop onboard audio and is not able to be connected to the Audigy 2 NX for output.

  • Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum optical in questi

Ok, I think the question is rather simple to answer.
All I want to know is if I can delay the processing of the audio coming in from the optical input.
Reason being is that I have a XBox360, with the HD-DVD add on, and it has a delay with the video when playing HD-DVD's. I use the VGA cable, but I verified I am not the only one with this problem, as it turns out it's with the display. (Just plain weird IMO) but delaying the audio processing would allow a proper sync of audio and video.

I am brand new to this message system but I am so desperate for help I thought I would try it. After reading lots of comments I find that my problem may be more the rule than the exception. I have an Audigy @ Platinum card and all I ever get from it is crackling and popping. I have been around and around with Creative support but nothing they tell me results in a fix. I am so disgusted at this point that I am ready to just trash the whole thing. I have gone through the BIOS and checked so many settings its a shame. Still crackling and popping. I NEED SPECIFIC ANSWERS FROM SOMEBODY...not just the generic flip the wingle wangle to port xyz and move this to that. here has got to be an answer to this maddening problem. The other thing is that now I can't get my MIDI keyboard to play back. I must have turned something off in the set up process but now I have no idea what to do.
If anyone has any solid answers for me PLEASE come forward with them before I kill someone!
