Audigy 2 ZS install prob

I had a problem when all Creative diagnostic tests failed so I tried re-installing everything. After that things got worse. Several Creative programs would not run so I tried a cleansweep uninstall. That didn't fix the problems but I li've in hope so I tried it 2 more times. No luck - the faulting programs remain as in this list:
Volume icon in systray
Diagnostics
Graphic equalizer
Speaker settings
Surround mixer
Eax consule
Nothing in Mediasource works and the toolbar appears as a blank white square.
I'm using Win XPPro SP2. Onboard audio is disabled - no virus or malware detected and nothing but information messages in event log. Can anyone give me help on what to try next?
Regards from your perplexed friend
Lee

You could try installing in a clean boot session. This mostly deals with install problems resulting from other programs like virus scanners. This is the only way I can install the software for my Audigy 2 card. The following link gives instructions on performing a clean boot in Windows XP.

I have found that the programs you listed perform oddly or fail to run when the install is disrupted. Good Luck.

  • Soundblaster Audigy 4 instalation probl

I have trouble with instaling entertainment center, when i instal drivers from original cd it stops after 50% and doesn't respond i think it stops when it instal entertainment center. Every time when i do it its the same. Where in internet can i find entertainment center instalation files or what i should do to avoid it in the future?

You definately don't need the CD. Here's what I did:
Uninstall old SoundBlaster stuff. Everything, anywhere I could find it.</LI>
Do complete install (without IR-receiver installed).</LI>
Wait 2 days (I never thought I'd use the IR-receiver).</LI>
Install IR-receiver - I don't remember if I had to "cancel" anything, but I do remember that whatever driver was needed was installed when I did the complete Audigy 4 install 2 days prior. Upon prompt, I rebooted.</LI>
In my case, I moved the IR-receiver to another port (on back, instead of on front of the PC). Again, it auto-detected. Again, it prompted me to reboot.</LI>
Personally, I'd try 00% of the above, except substitute "reboot" for "Wait 2 days". A lot of messages suggest install of the Audigy can be fussy. In your case, you may care to double-check for any USB drivers (Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager) you don't need.

So i've downloaded the drivers from creative lab. Installed the card driver and i get sound. Now i try to install the sound blaster pack to have mixer playcenter ,etc. It keeps coming up No sound found.
I have winxp sp2 . I can install my old sb li've 5. digital, with no problem . Its just the audigy card i have problems with.

  • Audigy Gamer re install prob

I am trying to re install my Audigy Gamer sound card and when I attempt this with the original install disk I get a error message saying that "Setup could not detect any sound blaster audigy on your system. Please ensure that your sound blaster hardware is properly installed before running this setup program. Setup will exit now". When I look in the device manager I can see that Windows has a "Creative Audigy Audio Processor (WDM)" listed.
How is it possible that Windows sees Audigy hardware and yet Audigy's own install software doesn't? Also how can I get this thing properly installed ? I've un installed it several times and physically removed the card already and after 3 hours of this fun stuff I am right back where I started.
    Thanks for any help

Hi. I've got the same problem after reinstalling windows and installing sp2. I keep getting the same error messages. few times on reinstall of old drivers from the cd it actualy went frough with installation and there actualy was sound at windows shut down. but on starup nothing again. tried reinstalling few times. tried installing new updated drivers, but thouse would not install at all! tried changing pci slots, nothing.. and it seems that creatives techs or c.s. reps have no interest in looking in forum nor they have any idea what the problem is with this issue . I suspect it has to do with sp2 update. may be direct x issue. but can't roll back to previuse version of direct x without reinstalling the sp2. any one has any idea how to fix this sound card issue?

  • Audigy 2 CD driver install prob

This problem struck me as VERY strange, so I decided to ask here, I have an SB Audigy 2 ZS.
Last night all was well. I was listening to music and playing games, and all my drivers and software were working perfectly.
This morning I turn on the PC, and I was having a strange windows problem unrelated to the sound card, which ended up in me having to reinstall Windows.
During the Windows setup program, it kept crashing at one spot, and coming up with a blue screen stop error stating some problem with "ctoss2k.sys". After a short Google search, I found a guy who had the same problem, and found out that it was a file for his sound card. He deleted the file so that the Windows setup could continue. I did the same, and it worked, which fixed my Windows problem.
I now realize my mistake, as this completely broke my sound card and it wouldn't work at all. So I uninstalled the drivers completely and got out my CD, figuring I'll install the CD drivers and then auto update from the creative site. However, the CD says it doesn't recognize that I have a SB sound card, while autoupdate says I do have one and that I don't need any critical updates.
As it is now, I have no sound at all and no drivers, I can't install the ones on the CD and the autoupdater says everything's fine.
    Plz help

I have the same problem with boot for xp sp2. (all up?to date)? ctoss2k.sys cause a boot failure.deleted the ctoss2k.sys and computer boots fine. wasnt a problem until I found that one of the SB components didnt work anymore and I tried a software update.component (SB recorder) still didnt work so reloaded original software... then ctoss2k.sys error popped up. so .. back to updating again and hope things will work. Creative ..... ctoss2k.sys is a problem!

Does this driver improve sound quality or performance Are there any tweaks ?
No, this driver does not improve sound quality nor increase performance.
    No, there are no tweaks.
If someone states that its driver improves sound quality and performance, you are being fooled, cheated.
It is even worse that the so called tweaks come from a person who is not EVEN technically acknowledged, does NOT know anything about Windows internals, software engineering and sound fidelity that all audiophiles always look for.
If you "feel" the sound better, that is the infamous placebo effect and there is no real proof that any tweaks work.
In fact, I have yet to see a driver that states in its release notes that it improves sound quality.
I've disassembled about every single .SYS driver, .DLL libraries and .EXE executables and found nothing.
There are some undocumented registry values, but nothing related to sound quality or performance.
Would the so called tweaks even exist, they would be in my Support Packs, you can bet that.
    Fixes and improvements:
    - Fixed Audigy 5/RX support.
    - Readded "EndPoint Utility" to enable the use of other digital devices to output Dolby Digital Live encoded audio.
    - Fixed driver installation issues on Windows 10.
    - Fixed Audigy "1" or Audigy 2 mute issue.
    - Audigy RX is now fully supported.
    - EAX Console now works on Windows Vista or later.
    - Karaoke effects now work properly on Windows Vista or later, just use EAX Console to enable them. Effects will only be applied to the Microphone input.
    - Sound Blaster Audigy Control Panel now available for all cards, but it lacks many settings available on Audio Console, so use the later.
    - Added instructions on how to install the Gameport.
    - Fixed missing speaker settings strings on Windows XP when DDL is enabled.
    - Improved driver installation, less confirmation prompts.
    - Improved setup procedure and scripts.
    - Removed Encode switcher for now, only DDL is available.
    - Installation now customizable, select what you want to install.
    - New integrated Post Driver Install Helper tweaks the driver without tampering certificate.
    - CMSS2 is now available.
    - OpenAL 64-bit support.
    - Dolby Digital Live now works on Windows 8.1 (update 1). Creative Audio Service was not being installed on that OS.
    - Special FX, Advanced EQ, Studio and Custom presets now available on Windows Vista or later.
    - Audio Console does not crash anymore on non-English localized installs. Localized resources for Online Karaoke tab were missing; added mostly localized Korean and Chinese (Traditional) resources.
    - Online Karaoke page is available for all Audigy cards on Windows Vista or later; this is NOT a new feature, but an easier way to configure the Microphone.
    - EAX Settings for Windows Vista or later includes EAX Studio, a fancy version of EAX Control Panel, no changes in functionality, except the Test button now works.
    - Added fully localized Korean and Chinese (Traditional) resources for EAX Studio, which were missing.
Undocumented fixes by Creative (not listed in the release notes):
    - Headphone mode now sticks and does not revert automatically to Speakers mode on Windows Vista or later.
    - Special FX, Advanced EQ and Studio presets were not working on Windows Vista or later.
    Release Notes:
IMPORTANT: Driver uninstall on Windows Vista or later
The included driver for Windows Vista or later has a bug that causes a stop (blue screen) error when unloaded by disabling the Audigy or uninstalling the driver.
To workaround this issue, run the KillDrv.exe utility included and restart when asked to do so. Proceed normally and uninstall all the software or only the driver.
If you have previously installed the Audigy 5/RX driver, you MUST run this utility.
As the KillDrv verify the driver version installed, running it won't do any harm, even if the driver version is not affected.
HOW TO INSTALL THE GAMEPORT DRIVER
You can find a Gameport\ReadMe.htm file in the folder where you unpacked the Support Pack.
Just follow the steps shown in the screenshots.
WINDOWS 8.1 OR LATER DOES NOT SAVE SETTINGS
    - Configure all settings and shutdown. Your settings will be saved.
    - This does not work if you disable Fast startup permanently or temporarily (by holding the Shift key while shutting down).
OpenAL 2D benchmark in RightMark 3DSound crashes your system
The included driver for Windows Vista or later has a bug that crashes your system if you run the OpenAL 2D benchmark using 63 buffers.
No problem With 62 or fewer buffers.
OpenAL 3D and OpenAL 3D + EAX benchmarks are not affected.
    Details: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (0x000000D1) - ctoss2k.sys
There is no DirectSound hardware acceleration on Windows XP 64-bit (x64) with 4GB RAM or more
The Audigy driver does not support 64-bit addressing, disabling the DirectSound hardware acceleration and causing multichannel sound to be played only in the stereo channels (front left/right).
    Workarounds:
    - install the 32-bit (x86) version of Windows XP.
    - limit to less than 4GB the amount of RAM available to Windows.
    - enable the "Memory Hole" setting in the BIOS Setup, if your motherboard supports it.
    - install and use Creative ALchemy to convert the DirectSound API calls into OpenAL, which is not affected by this issue.
Karaoke effects make the audio play in mono
You can avoid this issue by using EAX Console to enable Karaoke effects. Audio Console is affected by the issue.
    Optionally, follow the steps below.
Open EAX Settings, select a Karaoke effect, then click the Edit button.
Click on the Source (Wave) tab and change the Original sound to 100% and Pitch Shift to 0%. Click the Save environment button.
Repeat the steps for all Karaoke effects.
These changes will be valid only for the current speaker configuration. If desired, repeat the same process for each speaker configuration.
    MediaSource DVD-Audio Player system requirements
    - 32-bit edition of Windows XP or later
    - any Audigy 2, Audigy 2 ZS or Audigy 4 card
Built-in Decoder on Windows Vista or later
To use the built-in decoder, make sure it is enabled in Audio Console.
Select "SPDIF Out (Creative SB Audigy (WDM))" as the output device of your player and then configure the AC3/DTS filter to send the stream through SPDIF.
When you restart your computer, the Tone settings (Bass and Treble) are not applied.
Just readjust one of the controls one time per boot.
Equalizer and EAX effects are not available when using OpenAL or ALchemy
Only Tone (Bass and Treble) and CMSS 3D (CMSS, CMSS2 and Stereo Surround) features are available.
There is no sound in games with OpenAL support
Disable Advanced EQ and Special FX by selecting "No effect" before running the game or program.
Equalizer settings are not applied after using OpenAL or ALchemy
After you run a game with OpenAL support or using Creative ALchemy, the Equalizer settings are applied.
Just run Equalizer and the saved setting is loaded automatically.
Tone settings are lost when speaker configuration is changed
Bass and treble settings reset to their default values when speaker configuration is changed.

    Karaoke Player
You can use hardware or software-based Microphone effects.
If you select an effect in the Karaoke Player itself, it will be software-based and you might experience delays or increased CPU utilization.
If you enable the Karaoke effect in the EAX Console, it will be hardware-based (using the Audigy DSP) with no delay and not relying in the system's CPU. Highly recommended.
I did not make any extensive tests, so please try the software-based Microphone effects and share your experiences.

  • Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Recording Prob

I recently re-installed my audigy, and for some reason I cannot get any sound when I plug my guitar into the Line-In on the front. I check the recording/playback setting, and everything seems to be ok. I'm wondering if it might be a problem with the hardware. Any thoughts?

    Dee,
If the card came supplied with the PC, then you may need to contact Dell to get specific drivers or applications for it.
Is the card working correctly now? Is it listed in Device Manager, with no error messages? What did you use to reinstall, was it a CD, or a driver? If it was just a basic driver pack, then it's likely that doesn't include any extra applications.

  • Audigy 2 driver prob

Got this huge problem with the drivers for my audigy 2 card. Just formatted my dri've, clean WinXP install and threw in the latest drivers from this page (includes creative audio console). My problem, I get seriously crappy sound from my center speaker (really low, cant hear voices in movies), and neither can I install the surround mixer, EAX console or the Speaker setting program (which I wanna use to see if my fronter is working allright). I've had lots of trouble with the drivers before (subwoofer not sounding when I config my speakers, drivers just stopped working twice etc etc). I've run the automatic update tool here and it doesnt do me any good. Starting to piss me off, cant install the **bleep** tools, it says "Setup did not detect the required components." when I start the installer, and in that crappy "Audio Console" I cant do anything... Before when I was using Win2k (way better than xp, btw) I had this nice tool (blue window, could manage everything, surround mixer, speaker settings etc), the Audio Console just isnt ANYTHING like it. Using a set of Logitech Z-5300 if thats of any importance ... But even if its my speakers that are faulty, I should at least be able to install the tools to check! I've reinstalled the card several times, no luckMessage Edited by Wortex on 2-02-200606:48 PM

You need to install all software from Creative CD, bundled w/ your card.
If you don't have the CD, check, if BadBoy has this CD in his collection - http://badboy.filefront.com/

  • Audigy (1) - install nightm

For friend and LAN party, I need quickly setup machine for Warcraft III play. I use my Audigy2zs mainly, but I still have the old Audigy (), so I used it to the machine I build.
And the problem is driver instaling, clearly. I headed out for drivers to:
    http://uk.europe.creative.com/support/downloads/
...picked my card and choosed Driver and downloaded these files:
    AUD_EAX4DRV_0303.exe - as for drivers
    and
    AUD_WEBUP_PCWDRV_-84-40.exe
...as for the EAX4 update. However things did not seems working. WinAMP play and low-level detection of soundcard work, but winblows keep telling me, that there is NO AUDIO DEVICE, and so do all the other, hi-level programs, like Warcraft III
    Now, what to do?
I tried the "All files" and downloaded the Surround Mixer for volume control:
    SMIX_PCAPP_2_00_52.exe
    and then the
AHQ200307.exe Audio HQ stuff, but both these filles - when I try use them - keep telling me that I have no "previous version" of Surround Mixer and Audio HQ in the second case, installed, and therefore Im out of luck! Now this is drivng me mad, because where can I find the ORIGINAL file for the Surroud Mixer and mainly for the recongnizing of the card by the windows?
    WinXP SP.a, BTW :smileyindifferent:
    Any help come handy.
I already started the search for original install CD, but no luck yet.
**bleep**, this should be on the Creative WEB to can be downloaded, right away, right?

Can't blame anyone for not wanting to touch this one with a ten foot pole.
Anyhow, caved in and took the route of most resistance. Installed Windows7, the card works now. Seems the drivers for XP are just defunct.

  • Audigy 4 / Network Prob

I am running a Tyan Thunder K8WE mother board and have 2 7900GTX running in SLI, so they cover the only standard PCI slot so i cant use that (the fans take up a slot to themselves).
My only other options are the PCI-X slots (not PCI-E as thats where the 7900s are) at the bottom of the board. When i plug the card into either of these my oboard network stops working. As soon as i take the card out, my network starts again. I am running Windows XP 64 so i cant change any IRQ settings untill i turn off ACPI, but i have been told if i turn off ACPI, i cant run dual CPUs. Ive gone through these forums, Nvidia's forums (as the board uses nvida dri'ves for the network) Tyans forums and as yet i havent found a solution.
I have changed the bios to only have on what i need and there isnt an old driver issues as i refortmatted and reinstalled after disabling the sound in the bios so the old sound hasnt been installed.
I have read similar posts on these forums about the cards disabling onboard networks, but none have any solutions so i thaught id try.
If i have been missinformed and can run dual CPUs with turning ACPI off, then that means i can change the IRQs and see if thats the problem.

  • Audigy 2 ZS prob

I installed my Audigy 2 ZS sound card and it has some problems.
I first noticed the problems when Skype said that my audio settings were not configured correctly. I looked in the sound and audio devices in the control panel and found that the Audigy 2 ZS was not selected as the default device for any of the options, and in fact was not even shown as an option in any of the lists.
I ran the diagnostics test and it says that the Wave, Midi, Mixer, and Mixer Settings tests failed.
What could be the cause of these problems?
Thanks for your help, and sorry for the probably noobish question.

Have you try reinstalling the driver? Follow the steps in this Knowledgebase article SID72 especially the part on using the CTZAP software.

  • Audigy 2 Platinum prob

Hello,?Upon uninstalling the Bioshock demo today I noticed that my headphones were no longer functioning out of the Audigy 2 front port. I checked the volume and headphones, both those were working properly and nothing was muted. I can hear the sound out of my speakers normally. Additionally, if I now click on Surround Mixer I get "unable to change the sound device to your selected device."? I tinkered around a bit in device manager but did not find precisely what I was looking for evidentally to fix the issue. All the sound devices were set to Audigy 2, and that is where I get stuck!?Any advice as to where to look would be helpful.Message Edited by Platinumstorm on 08-22-2007:3 PM
    Update*
I've been able to get to the surround mixer by reinstalling the drivers, but being able to get the headphones to work through the device still isn't happening... If anyone has any advice i'd appreciate it =D.

After doing a search and coming up with nothing, here's my problem.
I just installed my Audigy2 zs platinum pro.<SPAN> When I attempt to utilize audiohq I get the following error:
AudioHQ Plugins Launcher has encountered a problem and needs to close.<SPAN> We are sorry for the inconvenience.
    Error signature
    appname: ahqrun.exe<SPAN> AppVer: .0.6.0<SPAN> ModName:ctdevu.ahq
    ModVer: .6.4.0<SPAN> Offset:0000ec2
The same error applies to device controls, eax controls, and the autoregister program.
I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, updating the drivers, rolling back the drivers, I'm currently downloading SP2 and will try installing that<SPAN> :_(<SPAN> and there are no<SPAN> conflicts listed in the device manager.
