Audigy 2 ZS maximum allowed input level signa

What is the maximum allowed input level signal (voltage or mv) without actually damaging the card.
Because I want to use some input sources and I am affraid not to damage the Audigy 2 ZS card.
Please answer as tehnically as possible concerning peak levels and RMS signal levels.

Finally found what I was looking for, thanks to Customer Support! Here are the technical specs for SoundBlaster cards. Input is listed as 2 VRMS (for PCI cards), which is line-level for this class of audio equipment, with a recommended normal input limit of volt. They are saying this applies to all SoundBlaster cards, and the specs speak for themselves, but it's up to you whether still to worry about that .2 to .5 volt transient surge. HTH.

My problem is that I have a sattelite DVB receiver connected to my TV-tuner via S-VIDEO and RCA outputs.
The problem is when I first started my receiver it bumps a peak signal of 5-7 volts recorded on osciloscope, this signal is somehow short sec but it still there.
The good thing is that this signal is reduced in TV-tuner from 5-7 V to just about .2-.5 V output and then hits the Audigy card input.
So I don't know exactly if I have to worry about this problem anymore ?

  • Maximum allowable input for select-options

    Hi All,
Can we enter any number of values in select-options on the selection screen. What is the limit on the number of values that can be given for select options.
For example if the limit for a select-options field is 100000 and if i want to give  999999 values as input on the selection screen, how am I supposed to handle this.
    Thanks in advance,

  • Multi-track Recording with Audigy (input level adjustment of 6 tracks)

    Hi,
Has anyone used an Audigy (or similar) to record more than 2 channels?
I have an Audigy 4, which I use for 24 bit recordings. Usually I just use 2 channels, and an ASIO4ALL v2 interface which probably uses the "WDM:SB Audigy 4 Audio [D880]" driver.
However, there's another driver I can select which is "SB Audigy 4 ASIO 24/96 [D880]", and this gives me 6 input channels corresponding to the R and L channels of the inputs line , 2 and 3. This is great, and seems to work OK, but whereas I can control the levels of the incoming signals (on line 3 L/R) with the 2 channel driver, the Creative surround mixer doesn't have any control over the input levels in the 6 channel case, so I'm stuck with having to adjust the level of the incoming signal externally.
Has anyone found a solution to this difficulty? I've updated to the latest drivers.
I'm using Windows XP pro. and the recording software is n-Track 5.1.
    Thanks,
    Peter

HI, I dont know if anyone has had this happen to them or not. I Have a MODEL # SB0090 Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy with 394 PCI Sound Card with the front controls. I have used it for years. I just re-loaded it into a new computer and loaded the new driver. When I had the old driver loaded I got a very harsh repeated ......BLAP.....BLAP.......BLAP.......BLAP it was very nasty and sounded like a cd skipping. I loaded the new driver and that got rid of the BLAP skipping thing. Now with the new driver when I bring up the windows play and record controls and when I have the Mutes all off and say for example AUX 2 selected, as soon as I arm the track in Sonar the AUX 2 on the windows play control auto mutes right before my eyes I can then de-select mute and the track stays armed, BUT as soon as I hit record it will auto mute again yet the meters still move and it still records and I am able to de-select mute again while recording and it does not effect the recording. It is a very big hassle during a recording project. ANY IDEAS WOULD BE AWESOME!!!!
Are you using ASIO (or asio4all), WDM/KS or MME32 on Sonar?
Not sure but have you checked how the "Record Without Monitoring" (or similiarly named ) option is set (Start menu, Run..., sndvol32 /r).
On Sonar you may need to enable Input ECHO ( [color="#339966"][)))]? button on track headers).

  • Help : input level too low in Logic from studioKonnekt 48

I tried to record and use some voice microphone and some guitars (telecatser, some preamplified acoustic flattop, some archtops with humbucker or P90...)with Logic and SK 48 TC near.
If the voice setting with the gain trim at 12 were OK or even tooo loud, I NEVER succeeded to raise a level higher (lower..) than - 30 Db and this with the gain trip at the maximum and the main output at the maximum level...This dosen't allow me to work properly. I've tried different entries (1 to 4) than the line inputs and so on..
TC wrote me that they have -62 db in preamp but I could not succeed to raise a workable level.
Situation is quite different when I use a guitar pream (Radial PZ-Pre) or a Para acoustic DI from LR bagss.
Today, I've tried with a bass direct into SK 48, trough the preamp ...but the signal in Logic stayed absolutely loww while the screen indicator of the SK48 hardware showed me enough gain (orange to red)
I a not expert in both audioinyterfaces and Logic. I do not find in Logic how to increase the input gain from the audio interface...
Any help would be more than appreciated...since I have spent days and days to undertsnad and try...and finally I did not record anything since I have this new gears..So, I feel disapointed..
    Ciao
    Chris

+"I do not find in Logic how to increase the input gain from the audio interface..."+
You don't (apart from the level fader of the Record Track, of course).
You can adjust input levels in +Audio MIDI Setup,+ but when I suggested checking there you replied: +"Thanks a lot, but everything is weel set up ???"+
So you need to look at the software that controls your interface.

  • Setting NI5641R ADC input level

    Hi,
I am using a NI5641R board and I am programming it using the LabVIEW FPGA Module.
How can I set the maximum input level of the ADCs?
Concerning the DACs, there is a VI to set the maximum output level in the library that comes with the board.
Isn't there anything equivalent for the ADCs?
    Thank you

Probably, I have found the solution.
I post it for those who are interested. Of course, comments are welcome.
IQ rate at the output of the ADC (downconversion):
    - use "ni5640R ADC Configure NCO.vi" VI to configure the sampling frequency (e.g. sample frequency= 100 MHz);
    - use "ni5640R ADC Configure DDC.vi" VI to configure the decimation (e.g. decimation=4);
    - than, the resulting IQ rate is: sampling frequency/decimation (e.g. 100/4=25).
IQ rate at the input of the DAC (upconversion):
    - use "ni5640R DAC Configure for Quadrature Mode.vi" VI to configure the CIC Interpolation Factor (remember that there is an addictional fixed interpolation factor of 4);
    - than, the resulting IQ rate is:: 200M/(4*CIC Interpolation Factor).

  • How to adjust Garageband real instrument input level

    Hello,
I am using an electric ukulele with a B-Band pickup/pre-amp and a Lightsnake USB instrument cable to connect to my MacBook and Garageband 2009. The B-Band pickup does not have a switch or volume control for the pre-amp. I have both the input levels in system preferences and Garageband set to the lowest setting, but the input signal is too strong, so it goes into the red zone on the input level for the track, causing digital clipping and unwanted distortion.
My question is, is there a way to lower the input signal even further? Maybe some hidden setting/option, or a software download? Any suggestions are welcome.
    Thanks,
    jwebb13

I have never before seen the Lightsnake USB that you have, so I can't comment on that. Perhaps see if there is a driver update for the Mac? I notice there is none on their webpage www.sountech.com/downloads/drivers but I'd see if there is something happening there soon.
I have had good success with a Presonus Firebox project 10. It has heaps of inputs, and uses firewire as its interface to the mac. There is a smaller 2 main input version if you are budget conscious.
The Presonus range have great pre-amps in the inputs and give greater control over the input levels. Plus you only need a guitar lead or mic lead. Plus it allows you to plug any pickup/electric instrument or microphone into it.
Firestudio Mobile - two main inputs

  • TS4185 My friend can't here me if she calls or I call her, but input levels are good ere

Anytime my friend tries to call me from her mac or ipad, she cannot hear me talking. The same occurs when I call her, she can't hear me then either. I check my input levels for internal mike and all looks good. Also, preferences under facetime is ghosted out so I can get in to see if there is something I can do. You are suppose to be able to access preferences in facetime, right?

I got the preferences back after shutting down facetime and signing back in. but microphone still an issue.

  • Set audio input level manually on t5i

First post here. I've just started workig with my new t5i, which I'm using to work on my ongoing video tutorial series. In the manual I see how it is possible to set the audio input level maually for an external mic but I can't figure out how to navigate to the menu that allows me to do this. I have pored over the user manual a number of times and can't find this information. Can anyone help?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Same camera in different shooting modes. The menus I described would be for shooting video in "P, Tv, Av, or M". Anything else will give you a smaller menu selection like you have already seen.

    Hi Kirsty,
I find that may System Preferences> Sound > Input volume adjusts back to a lower setting on every chat.
I have not found where this is set to be a permanent setting to where I want.

  • IRig input level for vocal mic extremely low

    Hi All,
I have ben merrily using my iRig and Garageband for Ipad to record instrumental tracks with no problem, but recently decided to try and add vocals. Just to test it out I bought an imitation SM58 style dynamic mic, with an XLR to jack lead so I could use the iRig, however when I go to use it, the audio/input level for the mic is VERY low - any ideas as to why this might be? I've turned the track volume and input up to maximum but it's still barely audible. Suspect it might be the mic, so tempted to spend some real money on a condenser mic, but worried I will get the same result. Are there any alternatives / success stories with recording vocals through Garageband, and what are you using?
    Thanks
    Nick

I have used the Shure SM58 and many microphones similar to it in studio and live settings, and that microphone requires what is called Phantom Power when it is run through a mixing board. In a nutshell, Phantom Power runs 48 volts on the channel the microphone is in, because that microphone only sends a passive signal and it needs to be powered. So the reason your microphone would put out such a low level would probably be because there's not a substantial for your iRig to pick up, even at maximum gain. I would look into purchasing a phantom power unit or some other preamp that you can put between your iRig and microphone.

  • Browse URL in FM11 won't allow input of any kind.  I need to connect either to a CMS, or WebDav, or checkout from Sharepoint, but nothing works.

Any one in FrameMaker 11 having ANY luck of any kind with a check out rev controlled doc management system for a team?  So far, CMS won't work with FM11.  SharePoint 12 doesn't work with FM11.  And the Browse URL won't allow input of any kind no matter what direction I approach at.  I have been to preferences, allowing checkout of HTTP files on open, and upload HTTP files on save, but nothing works yet.
I can check out and return from SP13 from the web, but all links are lost, and only embedded information carries over.
Any suggestions and input would be valued.
I didn't want to go Ditta simply because the company has SharePoint and it was supposed to be compatible. It isn't, so I need a back door.
I would rather not run two systems for Doc Control if I don't have to.  There is much to do, and dividing resources is a waste that I would prefer to avoid.
    Thanks

If you mean DITA and structured documentation, take a look at DITA Exchange – sad disclaimer, I'm no wise affiliated and I haven't yet managed to persuade the powers that be to try this level of integration.

  • Problem with Audigy 2 Platinum Front Panel Input

0Problem with Audigy 2 Platinum Front Panel Input? Hey everyone,
Here's the background of the issue. I got a PS3 over the holidays for literally free
I had my computer out in a testbed style. Plugged the PS3 into my monitor HDMI --> DVI cable, and Red/White into the front RCA jacks of the Front Panel (Aux 2). As soon as I plugged in the cable, I got sound out of my speakers and was able to enjoy my PS3 in 720p
I put all of the components back into the case after cutting exhause and intake fan holes. I brought everything back to school, fired up the PC and PS3. Lo and behold, there is no more sound from the PS3. I know that PS3s are temperamental in moving, but I hooked the audio up to my TV and the sound came out just fine. The AD Ext cable looks like it's secure and in place. When I hooked up a mic and headphones to the front, they worked fine as well. However it seems to be just the AUX 2 RCA inputs that dont work anymore. Any ideas about how to fix this issue? Is there a function I have to turn on now in the software to allow sound to pass through? Any information would be wonderful!? I'm going to try an optical cable in the near future, just need to borrow one from a friend =/

    Problem Solved.
I had moved my cards around for better airflow. I moved the SB Audigy card from the bottom PCI slot to the top. Thinking this might be the problem, I moved the video card back to the top slot PCI-E and the sound card to the bottom PCI slot. Sound is now working again. Thanks for the thread views?:smileytongue:
Think that when I have to buy Win 7 for real if the problem would still persist if I moved the card again? Or is this a hardware limitation?

  • Capture Audio through USB interface - How to adjust input level?

My USB turntable offers Line In and USB in order to connect it to my iMac. I would prefer USB but there is no way to adjust the input level. This only seems to be possible with Line In. Is this correct or is there anything I should know?

The only way to change levels with an A/D audio interface is BEFORE the analog/digital conversion.
If your turntable outputs USB (a digital connection), then the A/D stage is within the turntable, and any level adjustment will have taken place within there (I'm betting there's a level adjustment trimpot somewhere inside if you can't see any knobs from the outside).
This shouldn't be a problem, though, because the maximum levels a vinyl LP can produce are limited by groove spacing and the sheer amount of vibration the needle can take before jumping out of the groove. The turntable will have been adjusted for this at the factory (I'd assume), so you can safely use the USB out - the turntable's A/D stage is bound to sound better than the $1.50 A/D-D/A chip built into the computer.
