Audigy 2 ZS Mixer/etc and X-Fi software in vista ultimate 32b

Hello there.
I currently have the Audigy 2 ZS sound card and i just upgrade to Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit.
I would like to find out if there is any planned software updates regarding the Audigy 2 zs. I installed the drivers but the creative mixer doesn't show up for me in Vista. I'am guessing this is due to the older drivers and software that was made for windows xp?
I also have a question about X-Fi Fatality series. Does the software included with it work properly in Windows Vista or are there problems just like with Audigy 2 zs?
Reason im asking is because i might upgrading to that soon as well

A little bit off topic here, but 64bit does not mean more performance at all lol.
Sure, but there are in some cases drastic performence diferences. Under a fresh installed Vista X64 i have less CPU usage, as under 32 bit. But of course X64 uses more RAM (some tasks are double 32 and 64 bit). But the main reason I have more performence is, that the games I often play, get almost a boost. Dont ask me why, but under 64 bit EAW and FOC have the same FPS as under 32 bit. But under X64 I use a bit more Details and a higher resolution. (both are 32 bit games, so its a bit funy )?______________________?Sure there are other ways to install the drivers. But if some Setup dosent work, the first thing I try is to get it via Divice Management. And as this worked for me, I dont waste time to try other methods (Had bad experience, you can break the driver faster than install it *G*)?______________________?Some Questions I have left (after a few hours undr X64 with Creative Drivers):?Could it be, that the driver causes sometimes havy CPU usage?Could it also be, that the driver causes some lags, after you copy a file (the end sound, copy is finihed, but takes more time for "final finish", than without the drivers) - I know that Vista has some problems, on some PCs with copy, and that MS has an inoficial Patch (but dosent help for my PC so far)

  • Mixing XDCAM and HDV?? Outputting to SD DVD...

    Hi
Earlier this year we shot a documentary on a Sony PDW-F350L HD XDCam (great camera, stunning footage - 35Mbps). Working in FCP has been fine.
We're doing a follow up and budget and logistics dictate that we sadly can't use 350s again (where we're going, carrying 2 Z1s for example is going to be a lot easier). We're also on a fairly steep learning curve (being relatively new to FCP, Compressor etc).
So I'm looking at options. We know that there are significant differences between say a Z1 and a 350 but from my research so far and from some relatively simple testing mixing Z1 footage (native) and 350 footage on FCP, at least editing on the timeline doesn't seem like it's going to present any problems (although thoughts on that welcome).
The issue seems to be outputting. In the first instance we'll be outputting to SD DVD. Yes, that old gem...
Searching round various forums, it seems this problem (HDV - SD) is fairly universal. Solutions seem to range from not working in Native HDV (suggestions vary on the format to ingest in - AIC etc); outputting to different formats first (eg DVCPro HD) and then to MPEG-2; outputting the timeline to tape (DV), re-importing; using some thing like a Matrox MXO to output and others...
We're aware of the shortcoming of HDV and the compressed nature of the format and our expectations, given our kit are realistic. I've even tried putting some PD150 footage on the timeline but that's just not going to cut it.
So, I've got to put a kit list together by next week and wondered if anyone had any thoughts on:
    1) Mixing XDCAM and HDV on the timeline and any gotchas we should watch out for.
    but more importantly
    2) Any suggested routes I can look at to get some reasonable output with these two formats on the timeline - particularly HDV (don't think we'll have time to look at the Matrox route right now).
Many thanks in advance for any thoughts.
    Cheers

    Thanks Andy, Michael
That's good input. From an editing point of view we seem to be ok. Although, Michael, I take your point and that's a good suggestion.
The main problem is the workflow to create a decent SD DVD without the artefacts caused by compression/motion etc in HDV (and to some extent XDCAM).
Have read the prores whitepaper at
    http://images.apple.com/finalcutstudio/resources/whitepapers/L342568A_ProResWP.pdf
And looked a little more into understanding GOP structures and it seems that ProRes will help in terms of editing.
The white paper seems to suggest that converting to ProRes, because it uses I frame–only encoding "Ensures consistent quality in every frame and no artifacts from complex motion. "
We'll try some tests but, does anyone know if this is true?
But it also seems that deinterlacing may solve some of the horrendous vertical edge rippling we're getting on the HDV footage when outputting to SD DVD - although if I'm honest I'm not sure how we achive that with our current setting.

Since installing IOS 5 on my iphone4, the music gets mixed up and sometimes it won't even play it !
Even after many tries of sync, it won't work like before...
    Anyone had the same problem?

Same problem here, but I found a solution that worked for me:
Altered from original solution from Emily P:
Okay, mine now works here is what I did.
plug in the iPhone, iPad etc
in iTunes select the phone or iPad
Under Summary uncheck "Sync with this....."
Under "Music" uncheck the "Sync Music"
    Sync
Let it remove all the songs, dont worry it will come back no problems.
Once that is all done all the music on the phone or ipad should be gone.
Now check them both back on, sync, and everything should copy back onto it.
    Working now !!!!!

You don't mix them. Pick one or the other.
However if you want to have a text version and an HTML version, so that mail readers that don't handle HTML can see regular text instead, then you could produce a "multipart/alternative" message. There's an explanation of how to do that in this article:

  • Mix published and unpublished events in one calendar?

    Just got an iPhone.
Is there a way to mix published and unpublished events in one calendar?
I've heard that other calendar software have this option.
With iCal on a Mac it's possible to choose which calendars to view, so then it's not a problem to have one published and one unpublished calendar.
But with iCal on iPhone you can only choose between viewing ONE and ALL calendars.
I subscribe to a bunch of other peoples calendars, so viewing ALL is never an option..
So now I would like to write all my events, published and private, into ONE calendar. Is that possible?
    Anyone?

Yes. I tried changing the setting to Sync All Events (instead of the time limited sync) and let it refresh. No change. No display
I also tried rescheduling the event by one hour on the same day (no other changes), then save. No change. No display.
I ended up deleting the events and re-entering them, with identical information (including the recurring end date, remarks, etc., you name it), and then the events appeared like the rest of them in the same calendar.
I'd still like to know if there is a solution to the original problem. I'm still concerned that other events, maybe in the other calendar as well, are no appearing and it's impossible to rely on a sample or to verify every event.
    Thanks for your assistance.

  • Audigy WORKING with 5.1 AND software(EAX, THX console, bass redirection) Vista 32

This has taken me a week of fiddling, but now on Vista Ultimate 32bit I have most things up and running...
EAX effects and environments from the control panel work, THX console works, surround mixer, speaker settings work..Also I'm getting proper surround output =]
This isn't a complete fix; EAX console and the EQ don't work, and also it only lets me set 6bit@96khz in the control panel, 24bit isn't there =[
    I'm using an Audigy 4...
First, I installed creative official vista drivers. Then uninstalled the drivers but left audio console installed.
    Install Pax-Apps 2.32sp2 http://www.youp-pax.org/viewthread.php?tid=443&extra=page%3D
Reboot...now my audigy was not working here but all the creative apps were installed. THe youp-pax drivers caused a BSOD after the reboot but after another reboot it went into windows just without the sound working.
Run the Pax installer again, select remove drivers and remove them but leave the software, reboot.
Install the official Creative windows XP drivers. This is the hard step, I had some problems and had to reboot and uninstall-reinstall about 0 times before I finally got it working...but now it works.
Still, I want my 24bit and my EAX console =[

I have this (well kinda) problem also. Sometimes my system (see below) will work fine, but then suddenly the channels will swap or the sub just won't give any bass.
Have tried contacting both Creative and Microsoft support for some insight but nothing apart from the standard stuff so far. I guess its a vista/4Gb RAM issue. Looking forward to using WaveRt drivers in case they give a difference.

  • Mixed 1130 and 1142 LWAPP environment - any issues?

We are just about to upgrade our wireless system of 250x 1130 IOS APs by adding 500x LWAPP 1142 APs (plus controllers, WCS etc.) and then upgrading the 1130s to LWAPP and re-using them for coverage.
I'm looking at putting the 1142 APs where we need the capacity, Libraries, Lecture Rooms, Classrooms, Meeting Rooms etc. and keeping the 1130 APs for office areas.
Anybody have any issues, tips or suggestions with the above? would I be better keeping the AP types the same for individual floors or buildings? or will a complete mix work fine?
Cisco rep. says its fine, but I'm looking for real world experience.
    Regards,
    Jen

The 1142s will be connected to Gigabit POE switches, the 1130s will be connected to fast ethernet POE.
Good plan.  I would've done the same thing.  Take note that the 1130 "mood ring" can cause issues to people with medical conditions.  You can disable the mood ring.
I realise the 1142s are 802.11n, which is why I'm putting them in areas where I know I need 802.11n for capacity. There may be between avg. 20 - peak 50 on an AP, just using it for Internet access.
50 clients to an AP is not going to be good.  It's going to slow access down.  Cisco recommends no more than 25.  I'd recommend that you check the usage and more 1142 when necessary.  Also, we (me and a few others plus Cisco) also recommend that you disable the data rates of the 802.11b and enable 12 mbps as MANDATORY.  This will force all clients to go to a/g/n.
Obviously we have Classrooms and other high capacity areas like Lecture Theatres etc. either along the corridor from, or opposite from, office areas.
How high do you plan to install the APs in the Lecture Theatres?
I really just need to know if theres no problem having an 1142 covering a Classroom and then having its neighbouring AP or APs, which are covering a few offices, being 1130s.
I see no issues with this.
Will RRM work just fine in this case or are there caveats I should know about.
Just leave RRM and DCA to automatic and if you want schedule (using WCS) for RRM and DCA to "recalculate" once a day (outside office/class hours like 4am).

  • E1200 - Can't connect to some devices in mixed mode and bandwidth cuts to 1.5mbps

Pros: Pretty box, lightweight and cheap, makes a decent paperweight or doorstop
    Cons: Everything else.
Could ONLY connect with anything other than a pc when set to MIXED channel and when doing so, it cut bandwidth to ~1.5Mbps... Not good when you have a 50Mbps cable connection. Was unable to access router configuration about 95% of the time wirelessly, and about 90% of the time when using ethernet connection.
Other Thoughts: You wanted a cheap router, then you'll get a cheap one that is only good for bringing Cisco/Linksys more money.
I used to LOVE Linksys equipment until my last 2 routers. The first slowly quit working more and more often. At first a simple power cycle would fix it, and soon it got to the point where it would refuse to work for days no matter what was done. It did last me about 3 years which was good
Giving Linksys the benefit of the doubt and how that may have just been a problem with just that one router, I picked up the E1200 at Best Buy, and had nothing but problems with it starting on doing the initial setup. This one lasted a grand total of about 5 days before I just couldnt take it any more.

There are many reasons why you experience poor signal or connection. Your intermittent wireless connection has a relation to the kind of setup that you have in your home or office. Is the connection dropping on all wireless computers or just one?
You have mentioned, you set the router to factory defaults and re-configured it. Did you try changing the channel on the router to either 1, 6, 9 or 11? There could be an interference with other wireless devices in the network (cordless phone, microwave etc.) since they work on the same frequency.
As well as update the drivers of the LAN card. For updating the drivers of the LAN card follow the steps:
    # Click on Start --> on the search box type "devmgmt.msc" and click Ok...
    # Device manager window will appear and in that check for the Wired adapter.. Right-click on the name of the Adapter that you want to install and click Update Driver Software…
    # A window will appear asking “How do you want to search for the driver software?".. Click “Automatic Update"..
    # It will automatically update find the latest drivers and will update it..
Try this and see if that helps.
As far as opening up the router setup is concern here is the link which can help in resolving the Issue. : http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?pid=93&login=1&vw=1&app=search&articleid=3676&userrole=Linksy...

  • Problems with SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro and autoexec.nt and running games. HE

Hey, this is my first post here so Hello all!
Just wondering if anyone can help me.
Ever since i've installed my SB Audigy 2 zs platinum pro soundcard the following error has occurred whenever I attempt to play a dos-based game:
    <location of game file>
c:\WINDOWS\System32\autoexec.nt. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications.
I've looked for solutions but I've only found things relating to old old soundblaster cards etc and not an audigy 2. One solution was to copy the autoexec.nt file from the windows\repair folder into the system32 folder. It tried it and yes it worked for the games, but I then had no soundcard and had to move the file back, uninstall and reinstall my audigy 2 all over again. The games still bring up this error. The error also occurred when I tried running Band in a Box .
    So I'm really stuck.
    Thanks for any help.

In that case, have you try updating the latest BIOS, chipset driver, USB driver(if any) from your mainboard website.

  • Mixing progressive and interlaced in timeline.

I am video recording a pageant this weekend. I was planning on shooting my Panasonic Ag-HMC150 at 1080i60. My b-roll cam is a Canon Vixia HG21 which only shoots at 1080i60, so I figured I'd just go interlaced on Panasonic as well. I don't need a film look or anything, so the video look for this live pageant is fine for me. However, now I have a friend who will be shooting with me as well. He will be roaming on stage getting shots of the girls exiting/entering etc.. He is shooting on a 7D, which to my knowledge only shoots 1080p24/30. I do not want to go the 720 route with the Panasonic or 7D. I guess what I am asking is it ok to mix progressive and interlaced video in FCP? My sequence shooting my two cams interlaced will be Pro Res 422, upper field first, 1920x1080. I guess I am curious if anyone has mixed the two types of video together before. Maybe I should go 1080p30 on Panasonic to match the 7D and just worry about deinterlacing the video from the HG21, even though deinterlacing still won't make it progressive. Another thing I considered was I will be doing a lot of quick panning and zooming, so to me it made more sense to go 60i verses 30p, for smoother motion and reducing any chance of strobing at the lower frame rate.
    Thanks for the help.

If I had the ability to test them before the event, I would, hence the question. I will not see him until Saturday when he shows up with his 7d, and my HMC150 is out being used for another project right now.
I guess what I need to know is this. I am going to have 2 extremely long interlaced files, and 1 extremely long progressive file. After I convert the interlaced stuff to Pro Res in FCP (log and transfer) and convert the progressive h.264 mov files to Pro Res from 7d in Toast 10, I will start my edit in FCP. Because I need to turn this around into a DVD quickly, I am wondering if field dominance should be set to none, or upperfield first? Like I said, this is all going to DVD anyways so I am practically throwing away half of the resolution anyways.

  • Mixing interlaced and progressive HDV footage?

Is anyone mixing interlaced and progressive footage on a FCP 5 timeline? Would you set the timeline up for progressive or interlaced settings? Would there be any loss in quality? I'm specifically wondering how well the true progressive of the JVC HD100 would combine with the "faux" progressive of the Canon A1.

I was hoping someone else would jump in with answers, because I am not familiar with either camera, and can't give you a definite answer, but I would hazard a guess that if you set both cameras to a 1/30th shutter, you would be able to mix the footage, but it would be very difficult to shoot, because it is such a slow shutter.
Other routes, would be converting the footage using compressors advanced formats conversion, and other tricks on the timeline, with removing fields and blending etc.
I think generally though, if you were going to intercut footage, you would notice it, at some level.
Some tests would help you enormously, as would renting a second camera identical to the first.
Good luck - post back with what worked and what didn't.

The rhythmic notation in GarageBand is the best estimate, based on the length of the notes you played and the "quantize" settings. You can correct the score somewhat by adjusting the note values in the Piano Roll view and by selecting notes and picking a suitable time quantize setting in the track editor, e.g., if you wanted to play triplets, set the quantize value correspondingly:
But I never could get GarageBand to show the dotted notes and rests correctly.
If your main goal is to create a musical score and not to mix music, better use notation software instead of GarageBand.

Launch iTunes with the Option key held down, click on Choose Library, and specify it. If the external drive doesn't contain the iTunes database files, create a new library there and import that music.
If the library contains any rented movies, they won't play on a different computer.

I am changing from Word to Pages. I have created my custom template with all my styles etc and that is what comes up when I go for a New Document. Fine. How do I get it to use the same Custom Template when I use Pages to open a Word document?

The template is a document in itself, it is not applied to an existing document whether it is a Pages document or a Word document converted to a Pages document.
You would need to either copy and paste content, using existing styles, or apply the styles to the converted Word document.
You can Import the Styles from an existing document and those imported Styles can be used to override the current document's styles:
Menu > Format > Import Styles
The process is simplified if the styles use the same names, otherwise you will need to delete the style you don't want and replace it with the one that you do want when asked, then the substitution is pretty straightforward.

  • Mixing ECC and NECC (Non-ECC) RAM Modules

    Hi,
I have a G5 Dual Core 2.0 with a pair of 512Mb Non-ECC (NECC) RAM installed and I want to upgrade to 3Gb. I'm thinking of getting 2Gb ECC modules and discarding the 1Mb NECC installed. But I came across a phrase in the Apple Manual of my G5 that states "DO NOT MIX ECC and NON-ECC Memory Modules WITHIN A PAIR." Does that mean I can mix ECC and NECC within Memory Banks and NOT within a PAIR? Because in that case I won't have to discard my NECC 1Gb and have a mixed 3Gb Memory!? I'm afraid to actually try it so I would appreciate your insights. Thanks much.
    G5 Dual Core 2.0   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Yes. You can mix ECC and nonECC as long as you don't pair the ECC with the nonECC. The computer will just treat all RAM as nonECC.
You can keep the original memory as long as the two 512MB DIMMs are always paired with each other.
