Audigy 2 ZS Newbie Question? Is my front panel working rig

WHOA! I'm new with this card but not posting..don't know what happened with that blank post..(The cat stepped on the "Enter" key...Yea..thats it..thats the ticket)
Anyway, I just hooked up my card and installed my front panel and I have a couple of dumb questions:
. Should the front panel be lit's What is the led abouve the MIDI for? Does it just light when MIDI is pluged in?
2. I have almost no volume at the headphone jack. I have heard others say that it mutes their speakers when they plug into the HP jack, Mine does not.
3. Wait, is that an LED or the pick up for the remote? Hmmm..just thought of that?
The remote does work, albeit poorly. The firewire on the front panel works, I can't test much else. I guess my main question is: Does the front panel light up? It just looks like that there is no power getting to it..
I want pretty lights!! :-)
Thanks for help
Phil

oh man thanks a lot! i knew about that option too, but i completely forgot about it!! lol
and let this be a reminder to anyone else dumb enough to forget about that little option!
thanks again

  • Question on closing Front Panel references

I'm manipulating controls on the Front Panel of my VI.  In doing this, I open a slew of references (to the VI, to the Front Panel, to its Panes, and to the objects on the Front Panel).  Normally, before exiting the VI, I carefully close them (in LIFO order, of course), but a question has arisen:
I want to "export" a series of references to Boolean controls for use in succeeding VIs.  No problem, while enumerating the controls (see above), I simply identify the Boolean references and build them into an array that I pass out.  First question -- does anything "go wrong" if I also do a "Close Ref" in the main loop (after adding the reference to the array, of course)?  [At present, I'm only doing a Close Ref on the non-Booleans].  Logic says this should be OK, as the Close Ref is mainly doing "garbage collection", and I've done a "copy" operation in building my array, but to a persistent structure.
Second question -- in my "cleanup" routine, I noticed I was "double-disposing" of the references, that is, I did a Close Ref on my array of Boolean References, but also was enumerating the entire Front Panel (as I did when I opened it) and disposing of the references that it found.  Again, this should be no problem, but (in principle) I'm doing a Close Ref on two references to the Boolean control.  It occurs to me that this is not really logical either -- I should be able to simply "abandon" the array of references -- although it takes up memory that can be "reclaimed" for other uses, the fact that it is an array of RefNums is a "so what" -- the contents of the array could have been a numeric or other "solid" data type.
Does this make sense?  To summarize, what I'm trying to do is to "extract" some RefNums to Front Panel objects for later use.  In the "extraction" process, I must open (and create references to) multiple objects, including RefNums to my "objects of interest".  What I think I can (and should) do, once I've copied the RefNums I need, is to dispose (Close Ref) all of the RefNums that I opened during the extraction routine, and do something equivalent when I do the subsequent "cleanup" (which undoes any modifications I made as part of the extraction).
    Comments welcome.

I usually store the ref. at the beginning of my program, in Functional Globals, and i close them when the program does not need them any more.
I think this is the right approach. And it is simple

  • Audigy SE: Possibility to connect with front panel audio in/

I have a case which has an audio in and out jack on the frontcase. Is it possible to connect these with an connector on the Audigy SE?

My "disable front panel detection" is unchecked.
It is not clear to me if you were able to check (enable) the box. The setting you need is "disable front panel detection" checked; that means the motherboard delivers the output to front panel, irrespective of there is a headphone connected or not.
If you are unable to check that box, i am not sure where is the problem. If you can, i expect you see a pop up window asking you what you have connected to the front panel, by default it should be an audio output option like headphone. Make sure, as I mentioned already, that you can see inside the audio software window the status of all the audio input/output sockets in different colours. The 2 icons representing the frontpanel should be highlighted and you should be able to designate what output/input you want from each of them. If this doesn't happen there is no point in connecting the audio out cable to the header (unless you have the appropriate MSI frontpanel cable which provides jack detection)
If you have successfully disabled the detection, you just need 3 wires to get output (things work when they are simple). Forget about the looping; you don't need them if jack detection is disabled.
I suggest you connect the 3 wires to the pins as shown in the manual.
Note the pin configuration diagram for the "JAUD1" header. I think the common/ground wire from your headphone socket should be  to pin 2, Right out to pin 5 and left out to pin 9.
Let us know of your results.

  • Question about subvi front panel

I want to call a subvi in the main program and do like
    this:
    1. When the main program calls the subvi, the subvi shows its front
    panel and executes.
    2. After the subvi finishes, it can close the front panel.
Now, I meet a problem: I can popup the subvi node setup dialog to enable
"show front panel when called", which implements the first one, but I
can not close the front panel until originally closed(main
program stops). How can I close the subvi's front panel(after it
finishes running) even when the main program is still running?
    Thanks in advances.

I think a more elegant way of closing the SUB VI is to start off the way
that Remco states regarding opening a VI reference. Only in the Sub VI,
you should program a Terminate control (such as an Abort button to exit
from a While loop... or something similar) and via the VI reference,
select the 'Set Control Value' method to gracefully stop the Sub VI
execution. Of course the Sub VI will have to set the close if originally
    closed attrib set.
There is a great source of example LabVIEW apps at:
    http://digital.ni.com/explprog.nsf/web%2Fswgrp?OpenView&Start=1&Count=50
    0&Expand=3.7#3.7
In particular, see "Stopping a Running SubVI from the Main VI Using VI
Server" example. It demostrates this techniques better than I can
    explain it. Hope this help.

  • Is The Front Panel Worki

I haven't installed the new driver yet for my SB X-Fi Platinum. I need the Aux inputs on the front panel for my WX5 Wind Controller. Are they acti've with the new driver or do I need to wait for some other software?

the main reason i bought my Audigy2 Platinum was so i could plug my shure sm57 into the /4inch mic jack for recording guitar i even use it for voice chat, sure beats a cheap 0 dollar mic, and i use the rca jacks for recording from tapes, records or plugging a keyboard in, if i cant do that it doesnt matter what sound card i have. From what i've read and heard about the X-Fi, it works for some and not for others. the front panel connectors i use on a daily basis. hopefully by tomorrow ill have the audigy drivers to test out.

  • Any 5.1 Soundcard with Front Panel working under Win 7 64?

Since i'm finally fed up with my X-Fi Platinum not working in Win7 64 i would like to buy something else.
Sadly Creative seems to be the only firm producing soundcards that can have a simultanious stereo output via the front panel while having he 5.1 setup connected at the back.
So as much as i would like to stick it to Creative. But do they have anything with a frontpanel like the Titanium but working under Win7 64?

    Hi,
What driver version are you using now? The one that's on the install CD that's included with the soundcard or the latest driver that's available via Creative Labs download service? Provide more info, otherwise no-one can help you. Anyway, the X-fi Platinum (including the Platinum drive bay) should work in Windows 7 x86 and x64.
Try downloading and installing Daniel_K unofficial driver packs for the X-fi and see which one works the best for you.
Daniel_K unofficial driver pack SB X-Fi Series Support Pack 2.5 (10/25/2011)
Daniel_K unofficial driver pack SB X-Fi Series AuzenUAA Pack 1.8 (10/25/2011)
Daniel_K unofficial driver pack SB X-Fi Series AuzenWDM Pack 1.8 (10/25/2011)
Uninstall the old X-fi drivers first and then use "Driver Sweeper" in Windows Safe mode to wipe X-fi drivers that are still left in the Windows OS. Make sure you create a restore point in Windows 7 first, so you can roll-back if something goes wrong.
    Good luck!

  • Newbie Question: How Freeze Dimension Settings work?

    Dear all:
For some reason, I couldn't figure out how "Freeze Dimension Settings" of dynamic template work on overriding members. I looked into both row and column EVEXP function and in the data region EVGTS, and none of the Current View column under Freeze Dimension Settings was ever selected.
Can someone clue me out? Thanks a bunch!
    Sincerely,
    Brian

    Hi,
The "Freeze dimension section" is getting all the dimension values from CV. This information is used into "Expansion Settings" for the Member definition (using VLOOKUP function - freeze dimension is view as an array of dimension and values and the value is taken according with the dimension selected into Dimension field).
Hope this can help you to understand better how dynamic templates is built.

  • Newbie questions about Macbook Pros at work...

Hello all!  Our new CTO has decided he wanted a MacBook Pro in our predominant Windows desktop environment.  While we do have several Macs in use, primarily in our development departments, I believe this is a sign of the times and I expect more Macs to come through the doors as time passes.  It is for this reason as an IT admin that I'm trying to begin standardizing what I can on the Macs.  Our Windows desktop is tightly locked down where users do not have admin rights on their systems and all systems are centrally managed through our desktop management solution.  About 15 years ago, I supported Macs in the workplace, but boy have times changed!  I'm struggling to figure out how Macs should work in our environment.  Is it possible to have corporate-owned Macs that are locked down and centrally managed?  Should I be considering the Apple Deployment and Device Enrollment Programs as a starting point?  My primary goal is to not have users using their personal Apple IDs on the devices.  Is this possible and is this the right way to go for business applications?  Thank you for any information you can give to me.  This will be an ongoing learning curve for me.  If there are some good training sites out there, I'd appreciate your opinions there too!

Is it possible to have corporate-owned Macs that are locked down and centrally managed?
Yes. Your research should be directed toward OS X Server, Open Directory, Profile Manager, and the Volume Purchasing Program.

  • Can I connect an Audigy Platinium Front Panel to an Audigy 2 ZS simple card

I had an Audigy Platinium sound card with its front panel and all the stuff that came with it. Recently I bought an Audigy 2 ZS simple card. I was wondering if I can still use the front panel with the new sound card or I have to buy the specific front panel for the Audigy 2 ZS. Please help.

Thanks Cat for answer me so quickly. I have a one more question. Is it possible to get the dri'vebay for the Audigy 2 ZS separately? And if it's possible, how much does it cost and where can I get it's? Thank you.

  • Audigy 2 front panel: Aux-in 2 no longer wo

This is odd to me. I updated to Windows SP3 and it insisted on updating my realtek HD audio drivers which I had disabled. Upon restart they were reinitalized. I quickly turned them off, disabled, then uninstalled them.
I switched back to my Audigy 2 but my AUX-IN 2 no longer works, and no it's not muted. It's really frustrating since I have some multimedia streaming through those RCA's and I really need it.
I've tried to rip every audio driver out. I've reinstalled about 4 times. And it still doesn't work. I've tried old drivers, new drivers. No luck.
Do you think there could be some conflict inflicted by when both drivers were installed? Are there any apps to purge Realtek from my system? Does SP3 have something to do with it's? Please help!
Quick Edit: Everything else on the front panel works and the my cables are new. I bought them because I thought they were shot.
Message Edited by Spooty on 0-25-2008 02:3 PM

Thanks for the response. I've tried the program and it does work for the intended purpose; however, now I'm experiencing a new issue. Sometimes when Muvixer "kicks in" and changes the input back to my selection the computer will lock up. I'd say this occurs out of 25 times -- enough to make this a severe pain. The sound will freeze with repititous noises coming from the speakers and the computer will be completely non-responsi've. The only solution is to hard restart. I've got a fairly decent dual core rig @ 3.9ghz with a week-old reformat and clean Windows install, so I can only imagine this is an issue with the audigy.
    Any suggestions?

  • A different Front Panel question

Just to spice up the board, I'll ask a different question about the front panel. ?I have the X-Fi Fatalty board with the front panel and for the past 2 years have not used the front panel.
My question: Can I pull the front panel and set it asideI don't use it and the ribbon cable is cluttering up the wiring in my, already cramped, case. ?Will it operate with just the PCI card?
    Thanks.

Absolutely. I have used mine many times without the front panel. I add it back when I dont want to reach around to the rear to plug in a MIC and I certainly dont use my headphone jack on my center channel speaker for headphone output.

  • Audio front panel connection to 10pin Audigy 2 ZS card head

This can't be rocket science. Various manufacturers (e.g. HP and DELL) produce an OEM cable which connects the 0pin card header on Audigy ZS sound cards with their front panel MIC and PHONES jacks.
There have been discussions on various sites for a while on this topic, but they all experience problems (e.g. http://audigy2zshowto.blogspot.com/ ).
The one thing that the OEM cables have in common is that the manufacturers' front panels adhere to the AC'97 front panel format (e.g. http://www.formfactors.org/developer%5Cspecs%5CA2928604.pdf and http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa/ftp/datasheets/intel/30234902_ICH6.pdf ). They don't appear to be using the Intel High Definition Audio alternati've to AC'97.
So, it should be very simple to map each of the 0 pins (on the x0 header) on the Audigy sound card to each of the 0 pins (on the 2x5 header) that the AC'97 standard specifies (and which HP and DELL use). OK, I know that pin 8 on the 2x5 is a "peg" and so there may be some redundancy on the x0 connector, but there should be a robust mapping that enables the muting functions to work properly and for there to be decent microphone performance.
So, what is the mapping? Someone from DELL, HP and Creative must know. (Let's make it simple as well, let's answer this like "when connecting the x0 to the 2x5 then pin maps to pin x, pin 2 to pin y, pin 3 to pin z and so on".)
Once I get some answers I'll also provide a full parts and tools list for people wanting to make cables of their own.

    Hi Avi,
The Audigy 2 dri've should be compatible with an Audigy 2 ZS card, so yes.

  • Audigy 2 NS Front Panel Headph

Purchased this particular model due to the front panel containing a headphone jack. But I get no sound from it. Now I am using Winamp, iTunes or MS WMP. So my question is - the front panel headphone jack, is this only for devices that you hook up directly to the front panel? Should I be able to hear any sound coming from whatever audio source that is generated from the computer through this jack?
I am really stumped on this one. Have searched KB & forums, tried all the suggestions, and can get no sound from the FP HP jack utilizing Winamp, iTunes & MS WMP or anyhting else. Ribbon cable is connected correctly. Beatiful sound from speakers and if I disconnect from the rear and connect the headphones from here, no problemo, get sound all day long. But this defeats the purpose of having a jack in the front.
Hope someone can shed light on this.

  • Crio to host multiple remote front panels

    Hello all,
I've a question abt remote front panel hosted by a cRIO system (cRIO9068 to be more specific, running RTOS).
I have a top level VI (main) as the start up vi in my cRIO system, and it would call a subvi during run. I'd like to enable remote front panel for both the main vi and the sub vi so that I can see both front panels using a web browser. I'm not sure if such a configuration is possible at all and would like to listen to comments by users who have similar experiences.
    Thank you very much!
    Best,
    Jidong

    Hello hhaamm,
To the best of my knowledge, I don't believe it is possible to host multiple remote front panels from the same executable, and, if it is, would be very difficult. The NI Web Server configuration file only specifies one port on which an executable can run web services, like remote front panels. In, short, I am not sure how you would be able to accomplish this.
Another thing to keep in mind is that what you want to accomplish can be done in many different ways that would be much easier than creating multiple remote front panels.
One of these is to move all of your controls and indicators to the top level VI. i.e. make the data you want to see from the sub-VI an output of the sub-VI and create a new indicator for this on your top-level front panel. This way you can still use a remote front panel and can use different decorations and labels to separate the top-level and sub-VI outputs.
Another way to do this is to use the tab control to create multiple tabs, one for your top-level indicators, and one for your sub-VI indicators. This would still enable you to use remote front panels and would allow for the separation of your different indicators. Here is a note on how to do that:
    http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361H-01/lvhowto/creating_tab_controls/
And here is a more in-depth forum post on how to create them:
    https://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/how-do-you-create-tabs-on-the-front-panel/td-p/201495
The final way I can think how you would accomplish this is to use a web service instead of remote front panels and host the output of the sub-VI as a separate website.
    Hope this helps!

  • Front panel issues

    Hi All,
I had a question about the front panel connectors. I have a Lian-Li PC60 series case. On the JFP1 slot I have the reset and power switch configured correctly in that they both work.
However the HHD and Power LED aren't working. The HDD LED glows a constant red (the hard drive is functioning normally) and the Power LED isn't working at all.
My case doesn't have the two pin HDD and Power LED connectors that connect to JFP1, only one 3 pin Power LED connector that connects under the 4 pin speaker connector in JFP2. I figured I might have reversed the correct side and connected positive to ground, but after changing that, it doesn't work either way.
Both LED's functioned with my old IC-7G board.
    Any ideas?
Other than that the PC appears to be working fine.

They seem a little high i'm no expert on your CPU or its temp, other than knowing the max is about 70C. Check temp in bios its usually more accurate.
