Audigy 2 ZS - no sound, no vol ctrl, no "windows sounds" --Fixe

Ive tested the card in another system. The card worked a couple weeks ago fine, then I had to RMA my video card and so didnt use the system for awhile.. now that Ive reinstalled the video card.. no sound.
OS is XP Pro SP2.
Ive followed the "clean sweep install" procedures to the letter in the creative knowledgebase..
Ive installed the latest drivers for my card, downloaded them last night from the site..
I have no sound, though if I open the volume control through the Control Panel I can hear the level of faint background hiss go up n down if I raise and lower the volume.. In Sounds and Audio Devices, Show Volume Control in Taskbar is selected.. but theres no Volume Control in the system tray. The weird bit is, if I go to the Windows Sounds tab, the little play arrow at the bottom that would let me listen to the sample sounds is greyed out..
Device Manager tells me the Audigy WDM driver is operating ok..
suggestions please?
thanks,

In case someone ends up with the same problem I did.. and doesnt want to waste 5 hours hunting for the answer like I did..
This relates directly to no volume control appearing (despite turning the option on-off-on in Sounds and Audio Devices) and having --no windows noises-- ..

Ok So let me give you the specs on my computer first,?Windows xp home editionAbit IN9 32 MAX Mobo2 Gigs corsair xms ram2 8800ultra sli gpusLogitech?z-5300 SpeakersSound blaster audigy 2 zs platinum sound card2 Samsung 500 gig HD?I dont believe that my problem is the same as is in the crackling sound thread. So here is my dilema. Up untill about 4 days ago everything was working fine with my sound system. I have the Logitech speakershooked up to my audigy 2 zs along with my xbox 360 in the optical in on the front plate. So like i said about 4 days ago i started playing a movie on my computer and i have the ac3 codec installed on my computer with comunity codec pack and i know that you could say that those 2 things could be my problem i know enough to know that that probably isnt. So when i played the movie and when to the ac3 codec and turned on dolby decoding so that i would decode it to all my speakers everything worked fine. Then when i turned on spdif decoding my center speaker?started to crackle so i figured it was just becuase i was useing spdif and dolby decoding at the same time. so i turned that off and then went to go play my xbox 360 in which i have pluged into the optical in part on the front plate. Everything had always worked fine for that i have dolby digital decodeing on for the audigy. So i started to play a game i realized that i center speaker was crackling on there too. So i started to realize that no matter what i did the center speaker was crackling. I even changed out the center and sub stereo jack on the card for the front left and right and then they started to crackle in that spot. So i dont know what the hell is going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated i was thinking of restoring my computer but i dont know whether that is necessary. I also dont want to have to go out and by the x-fi elite pro tomarrow unless I absolutely have to.Message Edited by TasteOfChaos on 0-0-20080:02 PM

I am brand new to this message system but I am so desperate for help I thought I would try it. After reading lots of comments I find that my problem may be more the rule than the exception. I have an Audigy @ Platinum card and all I ever get from it is crackling and popping. I have been around and around with Creative support but nothing they tell me results in a fix. I am so disgusted at this point that I am ready to just trash the whole thing. I have gone through the BIOS and checked so many settings its a shame. Still crackling and popping. I NEED SPECIFIC ANSWERS FROM SOMEBODY...not just the generic flip the wingle wangle to port xyz and move this to that. here has got to be an answer to this maddening problem. The other thing is that now I can't get my MIDI keyboard to play back. I must have turned something off in the set up process but now I have no idea what to do.
If anyone has any solid answers for me PLEASE come forward with them before I kill someone!

  • Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS - No Sound

$Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS - No SoundP First let me start off by saying I've had this card (Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS) for a few years and it's always done this on my comptuer. It works fine on my parents' Dell. My motherboard is an Asus nI8-SLi. I'm running Microsoft Windows XP Home and meet all of the system requirements for sound card. The piece of junk sound card that was in the computer finally broke down and I would like to see if I can get the Audigy 2 ZS installed.
I've tried installing the card from a fresh reformat, installing the card after reformatting and installing Microsoft Updates and I've tried a number of different drivers. I've also disabled the onboard audio in the BIOS.
When I plug in my headphones it makes the familiar static noise you hear when you plug in headpones. Also, on the cord of my headphones you can mute and change the volume. When I do either of these I hear a bit of static until I stop doing it. However, when it comes to sound: music, games, voice chat, the annoying jingle during the Windows XP welcome screen, there is none.
    Please help!

(Re: Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS - No Sound? Try this:
This is a software package created by a user, Daniel K. which includes most all of the software updates as well as the newest or second to newest driver for your card. This will install everything you need to use that card.
Even if you had the original install Cd, this package is better, as it fixes some of the original incompatibilites with the software and includes their newer versions as well.
    http://forums.creative.com/t5/Sound-...28/td-p/535299
The package is great. It installs fairly quickly for a package of its size. I have used it myself for quite a while so I know that it works very well.
After installation be sure that you have at least? a two speaker set plugged into the green jack on the back of the card. Sometimes people plug their speakers into the wrong jack and then feel they have no sound for an unknown reason.

  • Is Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX USB sound card compatible with Dell deskt

Im considering buying the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX USB sound card to use with a Dell desktop XPS 40, but recently read a forum message on another page that there was a issue with installing on a Dell Tower but no problems with installing on a laptop
any help is appreciated if there are any compatibility issues with using this sound card on a Dell desktop, Thanks
the main reason I would like to upgrade to this card is so my pc doesnt use the integrated audio which Id like better quality performance with a sound card and also dont want to install a internal card on the system

    joaolfb,
Audigy 2 NX will need to be connected with the power adaptor inorder to run. USB will not be enough to sustain the power consumption of the sound card.

  • Audigy 2 ZS notebook sound card compatible with Lenovo X6

I have to admit I probably made a mistake for rushing to?EBAY to get a creative Audigy 2 ZS notebook sound card, which?is intended to be used for my Lenovo X6t tablet pc. The problem is I just did some research and found my PCMCIA driver "RICOH R/RL/5C476(II)" is sitting?on their list of incompatibility.
Do anyone have any experience on this matter? It is true it really will not work?
    Please help.

Simple problem... The soundcard is playing a sound appx. second after the sound is actually supposed to play. When I take out the card, everything is fine. Anyone know the fix? Thanks.
Do you mean you can hear the sound even Audigy is not connected? --> if yes, then just disable the onboard sound (from BIOS or/and device manager).
If you're playing some external instrument (etc.) or from some audio/media player then, it's latency question --> try w/ ASIO (you need to cahnge to the advanced mode) latency set around 0ms or decrease buffer size on playback software.

  • Audigy 2 ZS - popping sound in mce

    Hi,
I recently installed windows 7 (32 bit). I set up the speakers in windows media center to use the coax digital output (and 5. speakers) and when I click the button to test the speakers I just hear a clicking/popping sound.
If I set the speakers up for the single RCA analog plug and 5., the test button makes a sound ok but only for 2 channels.
I've installed the most recent driver I could find for audigy 2 zs, which is v 2.8.
Can anyone suggest how to get the speakers working in mce?
    Thanks,
    Phil

&Re: Audigy 2 ZS - popping sound in mceO No, you're not belittling me at all. There are so many settings applictions that I don't know where to start or even how to find them all. Good tip re the windows/creative control applets.
Setting all the # speakers and bit rates the same in the windows and creative apps didn't seem to help so I tried disabling the spdif output device and now I get all channels in mce. Yay. Thanks for your help.
Seems like the speakers device works but the spdif device does not. My sound card has a 2.5mm digital output port which I connect to the coax digial input on my denon amp with a mono 2.5mm to single rca cable. Is the spdif device supposed to work with this kind of connection?
Also, am I likely to lose anything by using the speaker device instead of the spdif device?
    Thanks,
    Phil

  • Help! Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7.1 Sound Card -

Hello. I've just recieved my new soundcard. It is the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7. Sound Card - OEM. (Located here: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...atid=&subcat=)
My motherboard is a Asus A8N SLi se.
Now, I have put it in my motherboard, and just tried to install the drivers. I got an error though. It said "No compatible creative product detected." So I downloaded the drivers off the Creative site, and that did not help either. I disabled the onboard sound in the BIOS, and yet it still did not work. I tried plugging in the soundcard into each of the soundcard ports on my motherboard, and none of them detected the card.
I am sick of using onboard, and would like to get this problem fixed.
    Some additional information:
The back audio/microphone ports on my motherboard never worked. I have been using the front sockets on my case. I see cables running from my motherboard to the front of my case. Maybe one of those cables need to go into my soundcard in order for it to work? I'm not sure which though, so I didn't try it, just incase.
Here are some screenshots of what I'm getting. They might help.
Drivers from the Creative site: http://img409.imageshack.us/img409/4528/gayap9.jpg

Unknown Device in my Device Manager: http://img409.imageshack.us/img409/9924/unknownoj8.jpg
Now, I have no other creative parts in my computer. So this should be the soundcard, right?
Thanks in advanced for any replies.

Does the cable from the MB to the front I/O panel simuliar to this one? I installed a Audigy2 ZS in my other system and connected the black cable with the 0 pin connector to the card to use my front phone/mike jacks. Also in your device manager I see the Realtek AC97 still listed. When I installed the XM card in my 600 I disabled it in the BIOS so the entry does not show up in mine just the SB XF-I is displayed.

  • Audigy Battlefield 2 BF2 Sound Issue Vista

    Hi there,
I upgraded my machine to Windows Vista x64 yesterday. And there is someting that really peeves me. The sound in Battlefield 2 is horrible.....
Explosions, Jets, Arty and stuff.... sounds totally broken/scratchy, like if you turn your speakers as far as it will go... you know.. when it becomes booming and you fear your speakers take damage I think oversteering/overmodulating might be the right word.
I can't believe it... the Audigy card and its sound was superior using Windows XP.
    Any suggestions

    Soundblaster Audigy (latest official driver)

    Hi,
    I installed this one:
    http://forums.creative.com/creativel...scending&page=
It's way much better then before but not perfect, still a little scratchy. I also installed the latest OpenAL (.) but the .dll's didn't worked when copied to BF2 folder, neither the one from system32 nor the one from syswow64. I found two a wrap_oal.dll, wich obviously comes with the drivers above. The 64bit version worked but I didn't noticed any improvements. So I switched back to BF2's OpenAL dll.
I gonna try the driver you posted later this day. Thank you very much.

My Audigy 2 NX(SB0300) is working great with XP but I just got new laptop with Vista, and this won't work, not even headphones. I downloaded the driver for Vista and still nothing. Can anyone help me with this? I use?Audigy USB?to connect my laptop with my Amp, and right now its absolutely useless, unless i downgrade my OS to XP.
Any help would be much appreciated.

To answer the post title FireFox save all downloads automatically in the download folder, which you can find in the Documents folder. If you want to choose where to save your downloads go to tools>options>check always ask me where to save files.
Secondly, I am assuming you have IE 8 installed as this is the only version that supports this fix that is currently not in beta. Go to control panel>internet options>advanced tab and reset the settings at the bottom. This may or may not fix the problem but it is a good first step.

  • Ctrl-Click Window Settings

    Hello All,
I'm working on an animation in Flash, and I'm doing a lot of right-clicking at the bottom of the screen when working on the timeline. It's really annoying to have to roll-over the down arrow and wait for the window to scroll every time. I was just curious if there was a way to set the ctrl-click window to appear higher, displaying everything, rather than forcing the user to wait for the scroll.
I know I can just change the location of the timeline, but I like it down there.

So what I'm getting is that there's no way to set the ctrl-click menu to display all items rather than scroll?
I don't see how you'd do it. It would have to be a choice in the application preferences, if it can even be done. A contextual menu is going to appear according to Apple's programming guidelines and API's. If it has room to go down, it will.
The only way to fix it is a hack that requires even more work?
It's not a hack. Just grab the top gray bar of the entire Flash workspace and move it down on the screen so part of the application window is off the bottom of the screen, but still showing the timeline dashes. Having the timeline that close to the bottom of the screen forces the contextual menu to open in an upward manner. There is no other way to do what you want.

  • Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS (Tremor) Sound C

Hey there! Seems like I'm having the same problems that others are when they get a Gateway OEM Audigy...
Gateway doesn't offer any software like Creative does, they just post the drivers? Drivers: 5.2.4.442 ...
I built my own little PC however the Audigy 2 ZS is Gateway OEM? So does that mean I can never get Creative's software? Because this is suppose to be a great card. & I've heard my roommates. But he has everything Installed were I merely have the drivers located --
    http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/getFile.asp?id=9860&dscr=Creative%20SB%20Audigy%20 2%20ZS%20(Tremor)%20Sound%20Card%20Drivers%20%20Re vision:%205.2.4.442&uid=96355720
Now it seems that the only way to get all the cool sound effects is to have everything installed that comes with the Creative Audigy, so I went ahead & tried installing my buddies software seeing that we have the ?same card? but it won?t let me, it keeps stating I don?t have an Audigy in there.
Is there anything I can do? Maybe bypass that evil message? I mean the card is there & it is this company?s product? So shouldn?t we have access to the software?
    Please help!
Below are the drivers or what it says in my device manager.
& in my signature you can clearly see my PC?s specs.
Under: Sound, video and game controllers
Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS (WDM)
    Under Driver Tab:
    Driver Provider: Creative
    Driver Date: 3//04

    Hi!
I appreciate the URL, but that is not what I was looking for.
I have that help files already. Also my unit is not the platinum.
I just have the card, and the picture I need is a closeup of the
rear bracket, so I can see, upside down, exactly what each connector is.
On most sound cards they are colour coded, and IF this one is, it is not visible.
And I have trouble seeing anyway ... OLD eyes LOL!
A few years ago there was an awesome full color, closeup, detailed photograph,
not a drawn picture on the net, somewhere, and I should have saved it then ...
The best laid plans! OH WELL!

  • Vista 64 + Half Life 2 + Audigy 2 ZS - Surround Sound Succe

I recently updated my system and installed HL2 : Episode 2 to test it out with, but I noticed that I wasn't getting any surround sound. Sound was either only coming out of the centre speaker or I could only set the audio options to 2 speakers.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, I tried a lot of things out and, thanks to the posts on this forum and others, finally came up with a working solution. Now I'm just posting it on here in case anyone else has the same issues.
    1) Install the modded Audigy 2 driver based on the new X-Fi release, available here:
    http://forums.creative.com/creativel...essage.id=2700
As this is a modded driver, released because there was no corresponding driver for Audigy 2 cards, do check that an official one hasn't been released since this post.
    2) Install the Creative ALchemy Uni'versal .00.04 application (based on the "free" X-Fi version of ALchemy) available here:
    http://forums.creative.com/creativel...essage.id=8972
Note that, as far as I can ascertain, at the present time versions beyond .00.04 are no different to .00.04, they just have wider compatibility. Again, do check that a new version hasn't come out since this post.
    3) As Half Life 2 isn't detected as a supported game in ALchemy, you'll have to add it manually. The path will be something like C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\[user-name]\half-life 2.
THIS IS IMPORTANT : You also have to change the Buffers and Duration from the default settings, otherwise the sound will be crackly, at least it was for me. The numbers I found on the web (here : http://connect.creativelabs.com/alch...orm.aspx ID=76) are Buffers=5, Duration=0, and they work just fine.
    4) Ensure you have the correct speaker setup selected in the Creative Audio Console - I have a 6. setup so I chose 7. - and also you might want to turn off CMSS3D here too - I read that it was making the game sound weird and tinny.
You might also want to just check that Vista's own speaker configuration is correct too - disable any optional speakers not connected and set the speaker size for each set.
    5) Run up Half Life and select at least 5. speakers in the audio options. For me, it wouldn't accept 7., just kept reverting back to 5., but that's good enough if it works!
You should be done! I hope this helps someone and saves them the time that it took me to get where I am.
    Cheers, N.
In case it makes a difference, my system specs are:
    Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
    4GB Corsair PC6400-CL4 RAM
    Asus P5N32-E Plus Motherboard
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS
BFG 8800GT OC 52MB Graphics Card
edit: added [user-name] into HL path that got taken out

    ProjectBorn wrote:
Thanks for the info, question though, does dsound.dll need to be added to the HL2 folder?
Yes... but ALchemy will add this file into the folder for you when you add Half Life 2 to its ALchemy-enabled list.
    Cheers,
    N.
