Audigy 2 ZS Notebook bad Drivers, install on XP at your own ri

2 ZS Notebook Bad Drivers
Updated via AutoUpdate (an originally working) 2 ZS Notebook driver to the recommended : -
SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_8_000.exe
?... on XP sp 2 machine. Failed completely on Mike, Midi, and soundfonts. Plus strange interference on audio. Brought down Skype, Cubase and all sound generation. Audio became awful with inference and machine fallovers. Continual reinstalls took four days to recover machine to basic 2005 driver but now with poor interference prone sound worse than original. After many machine crashes from bad driver installations (no doubt from residual newer files not replaced) eventually had to use "Driver Cleaner" as Creative and MS uninstalls left these corrupting mismatched files. Cost a fortune in lost time and man hours.
One failure was obviously belatedly found by Creative, who issued beta Mike fix.
SBAX_PCDRVBETA_US_2_8_000.exe
This also failed dismally, this time wouldn't even run audio. Card stopped completely, no audio whatsoever, windows reporting unable to start card.
Action
First. Who's the Creative SB release manager - and how come they still have a job?
The replacement manager needs to stay in work 'til they get this driver fixed and fully XP tested. Hours not days.
End of.

Thank you for the reply split0,
as for the informati've post, thank you for the compliment, i tend to not open a thread at all unless i have spent enough time on the problem and searched around enough for solutions, and after that i only post if it has enough info regarding everything in inside the thread.
In regard to the known incompatibility list, unfortunatly this is one of the things i checked beforehand already.
The PCMCIA adapter in my laptop is a Texas Instruments PCI-8x2/7x2/6x2 CardBus-controller.
Which is one of the most common controllers and should normally not cause any troubles at all, also in another thread on this forum i found a differant driver for it, i even tried that with no result sadly.
At the moment personally i am thinking the whole problem lies within not being able to uninstall the onboard sound card to full extent somehow, and while i posted here i also have all this info in a direct message sent to creative, and even acer for that matter.
In hopes of some kind of solution for this so i can keep my hopes up for not having to return the card itself.
What bugs me is that there is option at all to disable the onboard sound through the bios.
Because right now whenever i install the ZS notebook card it checks hardware for the onboard first installing it again, then setting priority for the zs notebook.
This is what seems to result in the crashes through a conflict in drivers in my idea, but thats just a hunch which i cant do anything about currently in regard to testing unless someone has an idea for me to try.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Notebook Synthesizer not instal

I've just installed the SoundBlaster Audigy 2 Notebook soundsard, into my Fujitsu AMILO PRO V3525 notebook with Windows Vista Home Premium. It caused a little problem to me, with the WiFi network card and modem driver, but I've fixed it.
I have just figured out, that the Synthesizer is not installed properly, and any time I want to install it, the device manager crash, or it say somthing that the extension atribute not maches. I can't even remove the driver, 'cause windows device manager imediatly crashes.
I have already tried to update, but it had no affect on Synthesizer.
I had installed a deviced called unsupported game port driver from Microsoft, wich made it possible, to uninstall the driver. (I think it was not pernament.) What should I do, how can it be fixed

I have re-installed, all creative drivers, I even clean installed them, and i still get this error, any ideas?
EDIT: I fixed the problem, you have to install the older CMS5 before the latest new driver will work............well duh!

  • Creative Audigy 2 ZS Notebook install probl

Lets start off with the system owned:
    Acer Aspire 9920G, Windows Vista Home Premium x86 32bit, Intel Core 2 Duo processor T7500 (2.2GHz/FSB: 800MHz/4MB L2 cache), 4GB DDR II RAM (2x 2GB), 2x 250GB (5400rpm S-ATA), NVIDIA GeForce 8600M-GT 280MB TC.
With a realtek onboard HD soundcard.
    Now here's the problem:
I purchased the Creative Audigy 2 ZS Notebook last monday, went home and read the instructions.
I made sure to disable and uninstall the onboard card before hand and then pushed the card into the PCMCIA slot and press cancel on the automatic driver search vista gives me, afterwards starting the installation of the vista drivers that i downloaded seeing a small sticker on the box notified me that the installation cd would only work on XP.
Mind you, this is on a clean install, i reinstalled the whole system in the weekend and made a full backup that can be put back in less then 40 minutes in case something would go wrong.
Anyway, next thing i know after starting the install the system freezes entirely at the point where the installation says: "Updating windows drivers".
Hard reboot is the following action ofcourse, system freezes up and refuses to boot only giving me all the nifty blue lights and a black screen.
I pull out the zs notebook and reboot, works fine, however the second i push in the zs notebook the whole system freezes and i have to pull the plug yet again to force it to reboot.
Only action left is putting the backup back and everything works fine again and now i can actually push in the zs notebook card again without the system crashing.
I have tried multiple things after that reinstall so far with multiple results:
    - Installing the drivers listed for vista in the drivers section: install freezes, have to reset by cutting the power, but i can reboot with the card still in the laptop, however its not installed at all nor are any programs installed.
    - Installing with daniel's drivers: install freezes, cut power to reset and laptop refuses to boot with the zs notebook card in the slot and when in windows the card is pushed in the laptop freezes up yet again.
    - Installing either of both drivers in safe mode results in a normal correct install: no freezing or crashing however the second i boot up in normal mode the laptop freezes before loading windows and the power has to be cut yet again.
So far every time this is fixed by using the recovery backup i made to have everything to normal again.
Probable cause that i was able to find:
If i install in safe mode the onboard sound card doesnt get loaded at all, then the installation of the zs notebook runs correctly.
However, in normal mode even if i disable and uninstall the drivers for the onboard card when the install runs it triesto install both the "Creative Audigy Audio Processor (WDM)" drivers for the audigy zs notebook, but it also tries to reinstall the realtek onboard, and i have no clue how to get rid of that since there is no option to disable the onboard soundcard through the bios at all.
Either way, the only time the laptop actually freezes is when the "Creative Audigy Audio Processor (WDM)" gets installed.
If that process doesnt manage to install itself the system doesnt crash, but doesnt see the ZS notebook card either.
Any ideas of random throughts that might help me solve this problem
Also, sorry for the long post, but i tried to make everything as complete and detailed as possible because i really want this fixed seeing i own both an older 5. creative sound set and a logitech z5500 with THX and would like to be able to run both on my laptop when i am at home.
Either way if i end up not being able to fix this i might end up swapping in the audigy 2 zs notebook for the x-fi xtreme audio notebook, problem there is though that it does not have THX and that i'll aslo have to seperatly buy the docking cable.
    With regards,
    Natharneal.

  • Audigy 4 gives blue screen during install of drivers on Windows XP SP3

FAudigy 4 gives blue screen during install of drivers on Windows XP SP3! Specs
    Asus a8n-sli
    GB RAM
    6600 GT
    Audigy 4
    LC Power 550 W PSU
I put in the installation CD that comes with the card. I want to install everything (full install), and mid-install I get a blue screen.
I then uninstalled everything and tried only to install the updated drivers from the website in safe-mode and still a blue screen. Should I get the dump file and send it to Creative?
How do get this card to work like it should? I also have a remote control that came together with the card.
Im currently using the onboard AC97 Realtek ALC850 soundcard.
Whats the whole procedure to make this work? Detailed please. How do I eliminate all traces of the audigy on my PC?

Re: Audigy 4 gives blue screen during install of drivers on Windows XP SP38 Perhaps you'd want to read this old thread of mine about my misadventures with the same exact card you are trying to use. IMHO that card was not worth the time and money I spent on it (even even less the time and money it caused me to spend afterwards to repair the damage it caused.

  • Audigy 2 zs notebook - no soundfont

    # Hi,
I have Windows XP SP2 (also tried SP3 and Windows 7 with the same result).
When I install the original Audigy 2 ZS Notebook CD, soundfont playback (using the Soundfont Bank Manager) has terrible latency, probably 250 mSec or so. After I update drivers and applications using Creative's Autoupdate, I get no soundfont sound at all.
After the update, the Bank Manager showed no soundfonts loaded, so I tried reloading the soundfonts that were originally installed (CT2MGM.SF2, CT4MGM.SF2 and CT8MGM.SF2) - still no sound.
Additionally, I've downloaded Vienna 2.4 and starting it up gives me the error:
Sound font editing capability is currently being used by another application.
Quit the other application and try again.
This is a fresh XP Home installation with SP2 installed.
The the original Audigy CD, then Creative's updates.
    help!

? A soundfont cannot contain alle drumkits, and it is not nessecary at all. I dont know a soundfont bank wich contains a complete set of drumkits, too. There are only some soundfonts like the crysis soundfont (to big for its "bad" quality) wich have some dummy-drumkits/ entrys or slightly modified sounds for each than usual. If all drumnkits would be stored in high-quality, the soundfont would be huge... Every synth i know uses the standard drumkit, if the chosen one is not existent. This is not optimal, but it will guarantee, that the the MIDI file or Program/ game will work. The KXDrivers wont do this. SO they are not useable for General MIDI. Only for MIDIs and soundfonts fitting together. But thats not the point of General MIDI. CMSS isnt working with these drivers, too. Dolby decoding/ encoding isnt possible with them, either. These drivers are not bad, but if you want a completely working card, KXdrivers are worthless.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Notebook MIDI playback problem

Hi guys, I have a following problem. I recently obtained PCMCIA SB Audigy 2 ZS Notebook. I'm running it on an older DELL Inspiron 5160, Win XP (latest possible service pack and drivers), P4 3.0GHz, 2 Gigs of RAM (max). Onboard audio SigmaTel is disabled.
I had no problem installing driver from Creative CD, playback and recording works fine. I can even play midi files in Windows Media Player. I knew I had to install drivers from CD in order to be able to use soundfonts, latest drivers do not support that.
There is the only problem - when I try to use the software keyboard in the Bank Manager, where I loaded up my sf2 banks, it does not make a sound. For writing midi songs, I used to use old MidiSession program. I can't hear anything there either. Strange thing is, when I play any midi file in the Widows Media Player - at the exact same time, both things mentioned above work, keyboard or MidiSession. I have no idea why that is. I tried to uninstall and reinstall Creative drivers and software, nothing. Since I can't update to a newer driver, I'm at loss here.
I used to have the same setup on my desktop (except the PCMCIA version) and all worked just fine.
Does anyone has any idea what could be causing this? Thanks.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Notebook- Popping and Beeping probl

Hey all, I installed my Audigy 2 zs notebook card today and it seems to work fine except that when using with any media player (have tried Winamp, WMP, mediasource player), i get a horrible beeping/hissing/popping sound at the beggining of most songs and it has frozen my player a few times. Most of the time if I suffer through it and let it play, the noises will cease even when it moves to the next song on it's own, but if i skip tracks, the noise appears again. I am absolutley positi've it is not an issue with my sound files or player programs, as they have all worked perfectly in the past. this is kind of an odd problem and i'm just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience. Thanks.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Notebook/ Creative Soundfont Synth

.Audigy 2 ZS Notebook/ Creative Soundfont Synth; Hi there, if have a problem with this card. I solved it in some way, but maybe someone has got a hint for me. The problem: Creative Soundfont Synth only works with the original driver cd installation. The only working driver update, wich leaves the Creative soundfont Synth functional, ist the one available via Windows Update (Windows XP). If im using autoupdate from creative, and a newer driver like the 2_0_06 or the 2_8_00 is installed, the creative soundfont synth is dead. No way to get it to work. (DXDIAG shows errormessages while testing, Synth cannot be initialised) I reinstalled the driver manually, i tryed to uninstall it, so many options i've tryed: no way! So i gave up, and now im staying with the latest drivers from windows update. The card is working fine, so its Ok for now. Is there someone else with the same problem? Question: Do someone know why the hardware synth on this card is disabled? Why is this sofware synth necessary? The card is a EMU0K2, so it has the Hardware Synth available theoeretically. • Audigy 2 ZS Notebook & DJing---preview a trac

I use my Audigy 2 ZS Notebook to DJ using Traktor 3. It has an option to Cue/Preview a track while anohter?is playing. Their tech support said - You need a multi-output soundcard to take advantage of Traktor's cue function.
Example: With a four output soundcard, set the main outs of Traktor to and 2, and the monitors to 3 and 4. In your software utility (almost all multioutput cards have these) set the headphones to monitor 3 and 4.
With this setup, hitting cue will play what is not in the main mix through your headphones. Is there a way to configure the card so channels &2 output to the speakers while 3&4 go to a monitor? I use the included cable that has the 3 colored connectors.

  • Windows XP hangs on 'spash' screen after video drivers installed on K8N Neo4-F

Hiya folks - got a MASSIVE post for everyone here...  Sorry but I think it's necessary...  Here goes:
I just upgraded everything in my computer except for the HDD.  New case, power supply, etc.  I started by copying all important data from my original HDD to a portable USB 2.0 drive.  My data is safe, and intact on that drive.  So...  I formated and repartitioned the oroginal hard drive (1 partition), assembled the system and everything runs perfectly.  The problems come later....
The Windows installation is insanely fast and smooth...  and the system boots into Windows with no problems after installation is complete.  I didn't even need to install the nVidia RAID drivers because windows detects my single SATA drive fine.  The First thing I do upon seeing the desktop for the first time is: Install nVidia chipset drivers, then AMD Athlon 64 driver (both latest releases).  I then restart and the system boots fine.  After Windows starts, I'm asked for display drivers.  I click 'cancel', as specified in my ATI installation guide, open up the ATI CD and install the drivers via the ATI autorun setup.  At this point, there are no further drivers for me to install and NONE of them have an "!" near them.  So I figure everything is A-Okay and restart... BAM!! - Windows hangs on the splash screen.  The blue bar moves for about 10 minutes, then stops for 2, then moves for 2, and so on...  This will go on FOREVER.
So...  I boot into safe mode and uninstall the ATI software/drivers with the help of some other third-party programs, schedule a disk check with CHKDSK and reboot.  I startup in Directory Services mode to allow the disk check to complete.  No errors and the system restarts on its own (supposed to).  Now the system boots in normal mode again, but no video drivers installed.  So I download the latest drivers from the ATI website and install them.  I restart, and WHAM! -- same problem.  At this point I'm thinking "bad video card" so again I go into safe mode, remove drivers, schedule disk check, etc....   restart in Dir Serv mode...  "one or more errors found" this time...  but that's okay.
After the auto-restart I shut down the computer and unplugged EVERYTHING but the video card, HDD and one stick of RAM... then reset the CMOS, checked battery and PSU outputs (all fine) I then went back into the BIOS to ensure everything is set to 'as safe as possible' and restarted.  Again I tried the latest drivers, and again the same problem after restart.  So I then booted into safe mode, but left the drivers intactthis time.  I scheduled another disk check and restarted again in Dir Serv mode.  After system restart I shut the computer down and switched to my other RAM stick and booted...  same problem.  now I'm DEFINITELY thinking "bad video card" so I plug everything back in the way it's supposed to be, reset CMOS and restart with the Windows CD the drive.  I again format the HDD, etc... and install Windows.
Now, with another fresh Windows install, having read multiple tech articles, I thought this could be an issue with the NV SW IDE drivers, so I installed the driver pack minus that driver.  I restarted and the system boots fine.  Next, I again tried installing the latest ATI drivers, restart, and SLAMMO! -- again the system hangs on the splash screen.  So, rather than waste my time with disk checks, etc...  I did ANOTHER clean OS install.  This time I decided to try installing video drivers BEFORE the chipset drivers...  no such luck.  I restart and Windows hangs in the usual spot.
NOW, I'm REALLY getting upset and can hardly contain my fists of rage that crave to desimate the computer case and all its internal componets.  Time to RMA the video card.  I exchange the card for the same type, thinking this will solve my problem, I drive happily home with the new card.  Wouldn't you guess it...  SAME PROBLEM, on ANOTHER clean OS install!!!  Now I'm thinking "bad mobo"? - I don't know because it boots fine and runs fast without video drivers, but it seems to be directly linked to the video card.  So...  I figure "okay maybe these nForce boards don't like ATI cards"...  so I return the Radeon X700 and exchange for a BFG GeForce 6600GT.  Yep, you guessed it, STILL the SAME problem!!!
I 'm pretty-sure the problem has got to be with the mobo but I can't be too sure.  It doesn't seem too likely because the system boots and runs fine with basic Windows VGA drivers.  Also, if I were to try and boot to VGA mode after encountering this problem, that would not work at all either, in any situation, other than after removing the ATI drivers or installing windows without them initially.  Right NOW, as we speak, I tried uninstalling the nvidia drivers/software via safe mode, I ran disk check, etc...  but the system will no longer boot in normal mode or VGA mode even without the nvidia drivers installed.  I've formated the hard drive and am ready to reinstall again if I can find a solution to this problem.
If ANYONE can help me it would be EXTREMELY APPRECIATED!  I'm not a dummy when it comes to computers but this is pure MADNESS!!!  I couldn't even BEGIN to fit everything else I tried into this forum.  I had to sum-it-up, but I will gladly answer any questions from you 'brains' out there and will monitor this site daily.  I won't ask the question and disappear never to tell of the solution I may or may not find...
    Thanks in advance,
    Eilios

    Hi,
If you only have one Serial ATA Hard Disk, then you don't need the nVidia RAID Driver. This driver is only needed when you set up a Serial ATA RAID Array or a Parallel ATA RAID array. For this you must have two identical hard drives in your PC, for RAID 0 and RAID 1 arrays.
nVidia SATA RAID drivers supports RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 0+1, and JBOD. When you install at least two Hard Drives, prepare your mainboard to use SATA RAID and
set up the RAID Array style you want to use.
Then you will need to install the nVidia RAID driver, to allow Windows to "See" and use the drives correctly. This is done by pressing the F6 Key, inserting the nVidia RAID Driver disk , and "telling Windows" where to find the driver it needs, at the very beginig of the Windows XP setup process.
However if you install a RAID driver with just one SATA Hard drive, or two SATA hard drives, (this last scenario not set to be used in an array, but as two different use drives, lets say one for OS and one for MP3 Storage), then Windows begins to load, it will load the RAID driver, but since there's no RAID Array, Windows will keep "looking" for an inexistant RAID Array, and if there's no such RAID array, this will take forever.
That's why installing nVidia RAID Driver may hang your system (which as you saw is  not really hung), at the Windows Splash Screen, it is just trying to find something that doesn't exitst.
NOTE: nVidia RAID Controller, supports RAID Arrays into both, the Serial ATA channels and the Parallel ATA (IDE) channels too. But for both options, you always need to have at least two identical hard drives installed to build up and use a RAID Array, which can only be seen by the nVidia RAID Driver, for both Serial ATA hard drives and Parallel ATA (IDE) hard drives.
NOTE: JBOD stands for Just a Bunch Of Disks = In this scenario, you can combine hard drives of different brands and/or capacities into one big drive that will be seen by Windows as one drive only.
NOTE: Even if you don't have any RAID array, you must install the nVidia nForce 4 Drivers. You can just leave the nVIDIA SATA Driver check box empty.
    Hope this helps
I did not have any RAID or SATA drive in my system, actually these were disabled in BIOS. I had the similar experience though. BTW, why NF4 chiset driver is very important to install if Windows XP drivers can get the job done? Look at my link in the previous post.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Notebook on Windows 8 Release Preview

Recently started using Windows 8 Release Preview as my main OS (gotta get up to speed for when it's released). While the Audigy was detected by Windows and installed some default drivers, they were of course basic. Installed daniel_k's Audigy Support Pack 4.0 and generally it works, but am missing the CMSS2 and Stereo Surround options, and the CMSS option (while there) doesn't do anything. 5.1/7.1 output works fine when the source / app provides such content but as I'm using Spotify for 99% of my music, I'm stuck with Stereo output only. I know CMSS is just a bit of a gimmick, but I do like filling my room a bit more + my sub is just idle too.
Anyone had better luck with this card/OS combo? I've a desktop with a PCI Audigy 2 ZS that I'm considering upgrading from Win7 to Win8 to see if that's works any better.
I'd like to be able to have a hack around with drivers etc to see if there's something that can be done to get missing settings going, or maybe it's just never going to work without updated drivers with the newer audio system in Win8. Not really sure where to start though - there appears to be so many driver/component files involved in running the sound card!
Alternatively, I'd like to find a way to force any application to upmix to multi-channel, of course without actually changing the application. Programs like XBMC, Media Player Classic, Winamp have options / plugins to do this.
    All idea/thoughts/comments welcomed!

I have moved to Lync 13 client and the same behavior is displayed.
Lync client crashes when connecting audio or receiving files.
Windows 8 was a clean build again with the Lync client installed.
This is making Lync unusable on Windows 8
Only info I get in the Event Viewer isthe bleow which isn't much help.
The program lync.exe version 15.0.4128.1019 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.
