Audigy 2 ZS on Vista

I built a new PC and kept my older Audigy 2 ZS to use in my new build. I installed and it worked just fine. About a month ago i noticed the tone was wrong. I looked at the bass and treble sliders and they were set right but the tone was still wrong. I adjusted them and it suddenly?sounded right?. Everytime i reboot now i have to go into the sound settings and move the sliders around to get the tone where i want it. The sliders remain where i set them but the tone resets to default. Very annoying?Anyone else have this issue. It worked fine for the first few months after i installed it and i cant remember if i changed anything. I uninstalled drivers and reinstalled and does not work. Computer specs:Intel C2D 6600EVGA 680i MoboEVGA 8800 GTS 640Crucial Ballistix (2) x GB DDR2 800Antec TPT 650(2) x 250GB WD HD in Raid 0etc.... ThanksMike

thanks for the quick reply...
i tried everything, but it's not working.
I've re-installed the drivers a dozen times, but still
i can't choose any speaker setup in the creative audio console.
Also, in Windows, when i test the 5. speakers, i only
hear sounds from the front speakers, not the rear speakers and the center. When I connect the rear speakers to the position of the front speakers, only the rear speakers are acti've, so the cable setup is correct and the rear speakers are intact.
this is driving me crazy. Maybe because it's not a vista clean install? I updated it from XP...
Anyone else the speaker-choosing problem?

  • Audigy 2 zs on Vista, no Creative Volume Cont

Hello,?Installing my audigy 2zs using the vista drivers goes without a hitch, except for the fact there is no Creative Volume Control. Which means I can't adjust bass, trebly, bass boost and similar features which I feel are a requirement for me to be using under xp. I tried to install using the original cd I got from audigy, and the volume contrl installs, but all the optional adjustments are grayed out, and the main volume control doesn't do anything. Can anyone help me with this?Cheers,?Matt?(www.highertier.co.uk)

  • Audigy 2 ZS and Vista quest

Has creative released drivers that support the audigy 2 zs for vista yet, ie working EAX in games without alchemy? The new way they set up their driver notes on the download page makes it difficult to decipher since they batch both vista and xp together now.
And if they haven't, is there any soundblaster card that I could buy that is fully supported in Vista?
This is the only reason I have not upgraded to Vista. Any response would be wonderful!

It is no 7. support, only 5.
You can try to install this:

    but before you do completely uninstall all Creative drivers and software from system. I recommend this method;

  • [issue] Audigy 4 pro in vista 64-b

Hey guys I was hoping someone might help me with this crap... I got my Audigy 4 Pro running on my new rig running vista ultimate 64-bit (used to have the card on a WinXP 32-bit computer), I got the sound working fine, the decoder is running fine, watched some movies on the bigscreen, but then I realized that I had a severe reduction in FPS when playing 3D games like World of WarCraft! im used to framerates ATLEAST above 50, and now I saw framerates hit 0! I thought wtf, maybe windows don't like running with two soundcards at teh same time, but apparently (after turning off and uninstalling realtek onboard stuff) it was still running slowly with the audigy 4 pro alone... well... I turned the realtek on again and removed the audigy from the computer and WUPS, everything is back to normal im running on +70 FPS again... Whats up with Audigy 4 Pro in Vista I can see alot of ppl are having problems with their soundcards in Vista, but it sure as hell shouldnt be our problem I payed (roughly) 300 Euro's for my Audigy 4 Pro, so the **bleep** thing better WORK! Is there a solution out there for this problem, i'd really appreciate it!
    sincerely yours,

why no Vista support is available for creative.. weird...

Exactly how I feel. It borders on the absurd that 5 months after Vista release Nvidia has nothing but garbage drivers and applications for Audigy2.

I have a strange problem with my audio in Vista. I have a Creative Audigy 2 and Creative 6700 speakers. My full system specification is below but please note I did not have this issue in my previous Vista build - its only happening since I did a reinstall. Anyway, when I swich on the speakers using the remote control unit for the 6700 speakers the sound comes on but then it turns down. I have to then increase the volume by a large amount for it to start playing sound again and then turn it down to listening volume. This issue is not application specific - it happens in everything: Winamp, WMP, games, etc etc?I'm using [color="#000000"]Creative Sound Blaster Audigy series Vista Driver 2.2.0002 and I've tried reinstall several times. I've tried doing diagnostic startup etc using msconfig in case something was conflicting and its still happening.

Have you checked the volume button? It might be physically stuck. To determine whether a hardware repair is needed, you need to follow these steps:
    1. Try doing a hard reset:
Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/wake button simultaneously for about 15 seconds and release when the Apple logo appears.
After that: test the device to see whether the issue is solved.
    2. If the issue is not solved, you should backup the device and restore it as new.
    In that case, use: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
NB: set up as a NEW device because a software issue will be in the backup.
If the issue persists after restoring as new, you should offer the device for service.
If you get specific error messages/codes in iTunes when updating/restoring, check this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694 for causes and solutions
    Good luck

  • Audigy 4 Pro on vista!

So I only recently decided it was about time to fit my Audigy 4 Pro into my pc when I got my new case. I've had the card something like 3 years or so now. But since installing it I've had some troubles on it with Vista. I had installed on my new pc once previously with Vista and the software bundled with it worked fine that time, but alas the case was too small for the audigy and my new Gfx card to fit so I removed it until I got my new case a few weeks ago. Upon fitting it this time when I installed the software it wouldn't work, it gave me errors and could not find the card. It would close down all the applications... so I go and get the vista drivers and I don't have any of the cool apps that came with it on XP. My question is can I get these apps to work on vista so I can get my THX and Dolby panels back

    Anyone?

  • Audigy 4 Pro on Vista Prob

hey guys, I'm new to this message board but have been a supporter of creative for quite a few years now, but anyways I have a problem hopefully a few of you can figure out for me as I'm currently stumped.
I have the Soundblaster Audigy 4 Pro sound card and have had Vista installed since it came out, I had the latest Creative driver's installed and it worked great, about a month ago when Microsoft released the SP beta for the public I installed it and that's where my problems started, the driver's are apparently incompatible with SP and I could only get 2. sound out of my speakers and the audio console looked a little screwed up, for instance the speaker configuration drop down box had nothing in it and the cmss looked screwed up, anyway I left it alone up until yesterday when I wanted my 7. surround back, I decided to uninstall SP and revert back to normal Windows, the drivers' were still screwed up so I reinstalled them but no luck, I found Daniel K's latest driver's here and uninstalled everything Creative and installed the driver's fresh but it still didn't work.
I have cleaned out the registry and uninstalled everything Creative like I said, tried installing a few different driver's but nothing seems to work. There is nothing in the drop down box under speaker selection and the cmss and eax tabs doesn't look quite right either, I can't synchronize with the windows control panel wither cuz the box is missing, I am out of options and don't really want to reinstall Vista, like I said before I installed the SP beta for the public it worked fine but after that it hasn't, would it be a good idea to maybe try and get the released version that's leaked or is there another set of driver's that I haven't tried that might work Also I'm using the 32-bit Vista but can upgrade to 64-bit but I'm not sure if that will make a difference, if anyone can help me, please do! I'll try to respond to any questions you guys may have, thanks in advance.

  • Audigy ZS Bug with Vista 32 b

Hi, (I?beg your pardon?for my english)? When I install a Audigy? 2 ZS Card in my Notebook ACER Aspire 9302WSMi I never can use the microphone.(Vista 32bits)?Message Edited by PhBaum on 0-9-200709:02 AM

I realize you're using the PCMCIA version so this may not apply.
But the Audigy?2 ZS PCI version has many issues with Vista 32.
My most annoying issue is very low volume output.
Creative is unable or unwilling to fix these issues.
Last driver update was 8 months ago.
It is so bad that I am now using my motherboard's integrated sound (SigmaTel)
You may want to dump this card and get different brand.
Once upon a time I had a perfectly good Creative webcam running on win 98.
Creative didn?t support it on XP.
Needless to say I didn't buy another Creative webcam.
Needless to say I won't be buying another Creative soundcard either.

  • Distorted / choppy recorded sound with Audigy 2 ZS and Vista 64-bit

Hi, I wonder if anybody has any idea of why this issue is happening. First let me give you my PC specs:
    CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 940 @ 3.0 GHz
    Mobo: Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 rev. 2.0
    Graphics: 2 x BFG GeForce 8800 GT 52MB
    RAM: 4 x GB G.Skill PC6400 @ 800 MHz
Sound: Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS
TV Tuner:? Hauppauge WinTV PVC PCI II (26xxx)
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit SP
?So here's the deal. I have no problems whatsoever with audio playback with this sound card. The issue I am having is while recording sound with it. When I record my voice via a Microphone with the Windows Sound Recorder and then play it back, my voice sounds very choppy. It sounds as if I was talking in front of a fan. The same happens with any program I try to use. If I use Audacity to record sound, the playback is also distorted / choppy. The main problem is with Skype, as I cannot use it to talk to people because they cannot understand what I'm saying because of the issue. Does anybody has any ideas why this happens? My PC is a dual boot PC with Vista 64-bit and XP 32-bit, and this issue only happens with Vista. Sound recorded plays back fine under Windows XP.
I am using the latest drivers available for this card from the Creative site.
    I'd appreciate your help,
    Daniel

A little bit off topic here, but 64bit does not mean more performance at all lol.
Sure, but there are in some cases drastic performence diferences. Under a fresh installed Vista X64 i have less CPU usage, as under 32 bit. But of course X64 uses more RAM (some tasks are double 32 and 64 bit). But the main reason I have more performence is, that the games I often play, get almost a boost. Dont ask me why, but under 64 bit EAW and FOC have the same FPS as under 32 bit. But under X64 I use a bit more Details and a higher resolution. (both are 32 bit games, so its a bit funy )?______________________?Sure there are other ways to install the drivers. But if some Setup dosent work, the first thing I try is to get it via Divice Management. And as this worked for me, I dont waste time to try other methods (Had bad experience, you can break the driver faster than install it *G*)?______________________?Some Questions I have left (after a few hours undr X64 with Creative Drivers):?Could it be, that the driver causes sometimes havy CPU usage?Could it also be, that the driver causes some lags, after you copy a file (the end sound, copy is finihed, but takes more time for "final finish", than without the drivers) - I know that Vista has some problems, on some PCs with copy, and that MS has an inoficial Patch (but dosent help for my PC so far)

  • Audigy 4 support under vista (looking to upgra

    Hey everyone,
Creative site seems inconclusi've, but then again I might just be blind.
Anyways, I have a SB0228, which as you all know causes no end of issue on Vista, I can't get 5. to work and that's just not good enough. Anyways I can line up Audigy 4 cards for cheap - and I'm wondering if they work under vista?
I dont care about SPDIF and all that, I just want 5. to work. Are people having problems with the Audigy 4 or does it seem to be reasonably vista happy?

x-fi work with vista if you just need 5. ; the problem is the software package if you by one of the old X-fi (the first 4 models that appeared : xtreme music-platinum-fatalty-elite), but there is a work around : you have to install modified driver and software from youp-pax (see here : ?)?anyway, you can buy any x-fi, install the last official vista driver, and you'll get 5., no problem??
edit : remember that for the games, there is no directsound support in vista : just open AL (and Alchemy work around for some old games) ; for divx and other (music) stereo sources, X-fi are great (with cmss3D) ; the same if you use often a headset : buy an x-fi!
if you're not in a hurry, there will probably be new X-FI 2 models soon...

  • Audigy SE and Windows Vista Is

Hi:?In my computer, I have the SB Audigy SE card. I did a full install (not an upgrade) of Vista Ultimate in January. At this time, I had no issues with my sound. Everything worked as it should. Recently, and it is hard to specify when -- but it may have been around the time I downloaded and installed the "Vista" driver for the soundcard -- the sound on my computer got noticably lower - even when at 00%. Whereas, prior to this occurrence, when I put full power on my speakers and on the computer, the sound would result in 0/0. Now, when i put full power on my speakers and on the computer, the sound would be about a 4/0 (tops). I still hear all the sounds fine - no muddiness -- but it just is not loud (even at 00% volume).
    Any suggestions?Thanks. Scott

Hi Scott! I hope you still check out this topic. I have Vista Ultimate as well. Believe the drivers that came with Vista, worked fine. I'm pretty sure they did. But with the driver as of July 09, 2007, my volume is very low. I, as well, have to turn my speakers and Windows volume up. I hope Creative can fix this problem, if possible. When I had XP, which I didn't use the July 09, 2007 driver. That driver is for XP and Vista, in one file. But there seems to be something wrong with it. It's mostly a case with Vista. I sure hope Creative reads this topic, or gets informed on it.
