Audigy 2 ZS plat + Inspire 5.1 5500 probl

Alright, I've read through most of the tutorials/guides/FAQs and I can't seem to find the solution to my problem.
I have a wire running from the digital out on my sound card to the coaxial port on my decoder, everything else is connected as the manual says. I went to the speaker settings window in the creative software, set it to 5. and digital output only(tried with and without this setting). I also made sure the windows control panel was set to 5.. When doing the speaker test in the speaker settings window of the creative software only the front left and right play any sound (I know everything is plugged in because they all play sound when I do the test on the decoder). When I set my decoder to stereo, it plays something from all the speakers but the speaker settings still doesn't recognize the center and back two. When set to Dolby Pro Logic, sound only plays from the front left and right and becomes distorted when certain apps try to play sound. Dolby Digital is not selectable.
In the EAX console I have tried with and without CMSS but it doesn't seem to make a difference either way. I have also tried with SPDIF Passthough and the built-in decoder and once again, neither seem to make a diffrence.
When trying different combinations of wire configurations, I tried plugging the green, black and orange wires from my subwoofer right into the back of my sound card. The speaker test works and all the speakers play sound but the subwoofer doesn't work and the decoder doesn't have control of anything.
Seems to be a software issue to me but I can't pinpoint it or there is some limitation that I don't know about.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks for your time.

bump, still don't know whats wrong

  • 4-pole Minijack-toRCA? (Digitally connect Audigy 2 SZ to Inspire 5500 speakerset)

    Hello forum/Creative,
After searching and searching, I'm just confused. And I'm quite an audiophile and I know quite a lot about cable and connections. I still have a problem getting (Dolby) Digital from my Audigy 2 SZ card, to my Creative 5500 (Digital) speakerset. There's a couple "paradoxes" if you will so I hope someone (of Creative) can explain this to me.Because my situation is different than everything I read before. Now the "problem" is that the 5500 digital speakerset uses an external Dolby Digital decoder that is connected to the subwoofer by a DIN-to-DIN cable. Then there are the 3 minijacks (output) that connect from the decoder to the sub. (This also enable volume control per channel via the external decoder/remote) Then there's a coaxial (digital) input that goes from the decoder to any digital out source, which at first was at the coaxial out of my DVD player, which gave the Dolby Digital 5. channel sound as it should. No problem so far.But then I bought an Audigy 2 SZ card for my pc and the problems is that the Digital Out of this card is not a coaxial one, but a minijack output.Strangly however, the 5500 speakerset includes a minijack-to-rca cable, so I can connect the coaxial input on the decoder to the minijack digital out of the Audigy 2 SZ card. Then I got just front L/R channels. I realized the included cable was a 2-pole minijack, with one ground connection and audiostream (Front L/R) What I need is a 4-pole Minijack-to-RCA (. ground 2. Front L/R 3. Rear L/R 4. Sub/Center) , but I dumbfounded so far and I wonder if this cable even exists. After looking in the manuel again and checking the Creative forum and other audiofora, all I can see is a 4-pole minijack-to-DIN (digital din)Here'smy problem with that:st of all my external decoder is connected to the subwoofer via a DIN-to-DIN cable. So if I would get that 4pole Minijack-to-RCA my external decoder becomes nothing more then a nice piece of decoration. Since power from the sub goes to this decoder via the DIN cable (do I wonder if it's a Digital DIN at all)But since this decoder is also used to control volume (per channel) and has the infrared remote receiver + Dynamic Mode setting which can only be set via the remote, I would loose all these functions?I know the Audigy 2 SZ has it's own Dolby Digital (EX), DTS (ES) etc, but I don't want the soundcard output alone and not use the external decoder (again, since this decoder does more than just decode alone). Now a 4-pole Minijack-to-RCA would solve all these problems and I REALLY hope these exists. (Should be possible at least).Currently I have unplugged the 3 minijacks-to-minijacks from the external decoder and plugged them into my Audigy 2 SZ card for Analog Surround. But it doesn't sound good (well at least compared to real Dolby Digital) and via this setup I lost volume control (per channel) functionallity of the external decoder. So please help me out on this. I would really appreciate it.Regards,Felix.

P.S. The 4pole Minijack-to-RCA I mention is a female RCA connector to accept the male-to-male coaxial RCA cable. I also noticed the Audigy 2SZ Quick start manual states to hook up 5. digital speakers to use a 4pole minijack-to-4pole minijack, but this is impossible since there is only a coaxial input and minijack output. So a minijack-to-minijack cable is completely wrong. After (again) checking my Inspire 5500 user's guide, I noticed ONLY THIS manual has the ONLY correct solution to hook up the set. The aformentioned 4pole minijack-to-RCA (female).Creative, why do you supply a useless 2-pole minijack-to-RCA for the digital connection of the Inspire Dolby Digital 5500 speakerset instead of the 4pole one?I mean, you buy the Dolby Digital set to get real Dolby Digital sound, but to get that from your own Audigy (2 SZ) card, you need another cable!! (and when you get it, the other cable will never be used for anything else, since it can only transfer the Front L/R signal!!

I currently have the 6bit version of soundblaster li've on a dell dimension 2400 PC and was curious if i would be able to install soundblaster audigy 2 ZS Plat Pro instead. Is my computer compatible with this because im having difficulty finding anything out from Dell

    ACUBaller83,
If your system fits to these specifications then it should work, just make sure to completely uninstall the Li've! before installing this (and put the Audigy 2 ZS into a different PCI slot).

  • Audigy 2 ZS Plat/WinXP x64/Gigabyte 965P-DS3/pop, click, hiss during HDD activity **FIXE

Alright, I've been searching the posts on this board for the past hour with no luck in solving my problem.
    Here are my system specs:
    Core 2 Duo E4300
    4GB G.Skill DDR2-800
    eVGA 8800GTX
    Audigy 2 ZS Plat
    2x320GB SATA RAID 0
    Windows XP x64 SP2
Whenever there is sound playing during HDD activity the sound clicks, hisses, and pops severely, definitely to the point of being unusable. This happens with both the rear jack and the front panel. The RAID array is on the JMicron controller on the board, not the Intel ICH8 south bridge. This problem does not seem to exist under Windows Vista x64, but that is so unstable that I really need XP to work correctly. I also have the Surround Mixer, Speaker Setup, and EAX Console apps installed, if that means anything.
    Things I have tried:
    Driver reinstallation
    <
"Clean boot" method described in the FAQ<
    Things I have not tried:
Putting the card in another PCI slot
    <
Changing the IRQ of the card
    <
    Changing the PCI latency<
I don't know a whole lot about the last two (the IRQ and the latency) so if someone could help me out there I'd really appreciate it. Thanks for checking out my problem and for any help you may provide.
EDIT: I have fixed the issue! The problem was I was using an older driver for the JMicron controller when I slipstreamed it into my XP x64 install disc. I had used the newest one when I installed Vista. I'll keep this post here to help out anyone else who has this issue!
    Get the driver!

  • Audigy 2 ZS and Inspire T7900 Serious Problems!

Hey Guys I'am a guy from germany and I have serious problems with my speaker system!
    Following System:
Windows XP Professional with SP2Creative Audigy 2 ZS SoundcardCreatice Inspire T7900(7.1) Speakers
    My Problem:
No Surround! My Card is configured to 7.1 Speaker System, I have the newest Drivers from the page and all is 100% correct connected although wenn i make a Speaker Test in the THX Konsole the Guy only speaks from the Front speakers!!left frontspeaker: front left, side left rear leftright frontspeaker: front right, side right, rear right, front middle
(order of the announcements aren't right here)
when i connect 2.0 speakers from my brother to the green plug the same happens!!
What's going on here?!! is that a BUG?
    please help
    grettz Kai

It sounds like the soundcard drivers aren't installed properly or aren't being properly configuring the speaker settings.
Try changing to 2.0/2.1 and 4.0/4.1 and see if those modes work with the speakers connected as they are. If they do then 'tis a software problem and uninstalling and reinstalling the Audigy drivers should fix it (hopefully).

  • Audigy Platinum Ex and Inspire Digital 5500 Speak

Having li'ved with my old Cambridge speakers now for about 3 years years I have recently noticed a sound similar to a distant rumble of thunder on the speakers, the longer they are left on the lounder and more frequent the rumble becomes. So, as they are getting on a bit I have decided to invest in a new set of speakers - Creative Inspire Digital 5500's, but they have yet to arri've.
Have I made a mistake in ordering these speakers? I have read several threads that intimate there may be a number of problems/incompatibility issues.
From what I can gather I either have to plug the speakers directly into the Audigy card outputs to retain the software advantages (5. speakers, base, treble and EAX) and then lose the manual ability to control the volume from the supplied Inspire Amp/mixer OR plug the speakers into the Amp/mixer and lose the software control.
My main use for the speakers is listening to music, not really interested in Dolby output or watching DVDs, screen and study too small, but I do occasionally watch a film or TV episode on the PC.
If anyone can either confirm or deny my percieved error in ordering these speakers it would be most appreciated.
    Dave McCreath

    Hi All
Answering my own question for others to find should they have any qualms.
New speakers arri'ved and installed. Connected to PC via coaxial input and work fine on both stereo (front left and right speakers only) and Dolby Pro Logic (all speakers - WOW!!).
Using Audio HQ, supplied with my Audigy software, I can test the speakers but only the front right and left work with the test. However, all work fine with the speaker test from the inspire 5500 remote - so verdict:
I am impressed with the quality, easy set up and sound manipulation. EAX also works fine!

  • Audigy 2 ZS and inspire T7700 no 7.1 with mov

Hello. Maybe you can help me:
I was trying to watch Episode one (with Dolby sourround EX) with power DVD 6 an Windvd 6 plat but i'm having problems with my 8 channel output because when i start the THX optimizer, the sound that is supoused to be heard on my side speakers, comes from the rear speakers and the sound from channels 6 & 7 (Rear center) its also coming from those speakers. This Failure also happens with the Windvd Channel test: side speakers doesn't work and in power DVD 6, CLMEI II technology does not work with side speakers. The only way to get sound from my side speakers is with CMMS.
The tests for the THX console for audigy 2 complete succesfully altough it keeps me saying that my side speaker and sub aren't wired correctly (polarization test). The channel and noise testing goes ok besides that.
This problem is exclusi've to DVD watching beacause with EAX HD 3.0 or 4.0 games, i'm not having any problem.
is Dolby digital EX in episode really works with 7. configurations (region 4)?
How do i need to configure this players to work with the installed decoders?
    Are my speaker set defecti've?
Can i buy some kind of monster cable to imrpove my sound?
It's that all right that the sound from 5. tracks (DD or DTS) is played from the front and rear speaker and not in the side ones?
    Note:
The supoused wiring problems repeats itself even if i change the connector of the the side speakers with the rear ones (that are soppoused to work fine). That means (i think) this problem isn't caused by the speakers wiring (i think i made it ok) could it be that the 7. cable is deffecti've?
What to do? Please Help me
Creative Staff: where i can go to check this on Mexico city? is there any sopport center where i can go and get some help?
    My config:
Audigy 2 ZS and Creative inspire 7. T7700

My guess is that your PowerDVD and WinDVD versions don't have ES support and you're using the programs to decode. This might be the case if you are configuring the programs for multiple speakers. If you are, try configuring them for SPDIF output, then make sure the soundcard is configured to decode AC3/DTS (it probably is). Does that help?

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum- Inspire 4.1 don't see each other after computer move

    ?? Running: Windows XP Pro
Sound Card: SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum? Driver Version 2.8
    ? Speakers: Creative Inspire 4. 4400
? Software: Creative Media Source 3.30
I moved my computer to another room and started having sound problems. I removed Creative Media Source 5 ( I had it when I used the creative zen mp3 player ) because I thought it was redundant on my system. My sound is now hollow and tinny. But the truth is I don't know what caused the problem to begin with since the Holidays were involved and many people were at my computer. I only want the sound to be as great as it was before.
    These are my problems:
. No matter how many times I set the audio properties through the volume control icon on the taskbar, the configuration always resets to desktop stereo speakers instead of surround sound.
    2. Using the Creative Speaker Settings results in information showing that there are only 2 speakers attached and they are synchronized with control panel. Under speaker calibrator it reads that there is a generic speaker system.
    3. Using the calibrator Wizard, only 2 speakers show up.
    4. Normally in the EAX console, the Effects tab shows many settings - but now there is nothing inside the box.
    5. On the CMSS3D tab, the slider for the speakers is grayed out
    6. The THX setup console on the Speaker selection tab there is nothing under the speaker selection tab - There is an analog output and a digital 48khz under digital sampling.
    7. Under calibration there are only left and right front speakers the subwoofer and rear speakers are grayed out
This is what I have done to troubleshoot my problems:
. Used Auto update of card which reads that everything is updated. There are no drivers for the speakers, so that is ok.
    2. Through the Creative Organizer I enabled CMSS
    3. Through the Creative Audio console on the Decoder tab, I have checked use built in decoder and under speaker mapping for 4./5 using side channels
    4. Under Dolby digital settings Dynamic Range is Full - Dolby Pro Logic is ON - Dolby Digital EX is ON --- DTS for Es is ON
    5. Made certain all connections are secure and verified the placement of the green and black wires coming from the subwoofer are connected to my computer in the correct place, namely that the black wire is in the second hole from the firewire port and the green wire is in the third hole
Please help me if you can. I'm ready to throw in the towel, I would even buy digital speakers but don't know which way to turn. I don't know if it's the card or the speakers or the fact that I removed the Media source 5 (for which I can't find the disk.)
Thanks in advance for reading this and taking the time to troubleshoot with me.
    Jane

    Hello KokChoy-CL.
    Many thanks for your support!
I've been reinstalled the drivers and changed the options of your link, now the DTS 5. effects are quite working on my xbox.
    Again, thank you!

  • Inspire 5.1 5500 won't turn on

I have an old Inspire Digital 5.1 5500 (not the 550) plugged into my Xbox 360.
Last night there was a pop and then the sound slowly died. Now, all i get is the red standby light on the External decoder and when i turn it on, the other lights light up in sequence top to bottom, there's a small pop from the speakers and then it goes back on standby. All cables etc are in ok and i've changed the fuse.
    Any ideas? thanks in advance.

    Hi, Steve:
    5 beeps = memory error.
    Remove and reseat the memory.
If the beeping persists then one or more of the modules is bad.
Remove all but one of the chips and test each one.
If the PC boots up normally keep testing until you find the bad apple and replace it.
You should be able to get the memory module(s) replaced under warranty too if they are the original ones that came with the PC.

  • Inspire 5.1 5500 decoder failed

    Greetings everyone!
The decoder for my Inspire 5500 speakers has failed.
When the decoder is off, the standby power light (red) will go out and the speakers will begin popping about once per second.
When I try to power up the decoder, some of the green indicators will come on momentarily and then go out, as will the standby power light.
    The speakers start popping agin.
When I unplug the DIN connector, the popping stops.
Anyone have any idea what's going on?
Everything appears to be wired correctly.
Thanks in advance for anmy assistance.

  • Crackling with XBOX games using the Audigy 2 ZS Plat. Pro

Hey, currently I have my XBOX wired into the internal front dri've that comes with the Audigy2 ZS Plat Pro. That is going in to the optical in, through the XBOX's high definition pack.
Now, when playing games, (Halo 2, Ghost Recon 2), I notice a LOT of crackling when there are explosions or bass heavy events on screen. It doesn't even seem to be just restricted to bass either, as when sometimes there is loud in-game talking coming through, that crackles as well. It is seems like when there is a lot of sound that is coming through, that triggers it mostly.
Anyways... I can't see how this would be a hardware conflict, since im just using the sound card to pass the XBOX's sound through to my Logitech Z-5300's. I have played with every setting on the Audio HQ and the Creative menu's (Volume control, bass redirection, THX settings, etc..)
Also worth mentioning is that games working from my PC are fine, as well as music. So it is definately isolated to the I/O Audigy connector. Also, there is no crackling when played on a regular home stereo receiver, so it is not a defect in the cable or anything.
Does anybody have any suggestions at all? I have been going nuts trying to figure this out!! I have downloaed and installed the lastest drivers, but perhaps im installing them in the wrong order? Who knows... please, someone help me out!! Hopefully the Creative staff have heard of this and can suggest something for me.
Thank you so much for your time, and I hope I can get this working!
EDIT: Oh and also, please dont reference me to that help page on the Creative support page. I have been looking through the forum pages and tried most everything listed.Message Edited by jeffsaylo on -26-2004 07:00 AM

jeffsaylo what bigben said might be right also in the link i have at the bottom someone fixed this by changing the pci slot cause of a irq being used by 2 devices. worked for him but not for me but maybe you want to try it. check for this by going to control-panel then systemthen /hardware/device manager in device manager click view then "resources by connection" then look under irq for audigy and make shure its on its own number also to free up irq's disable unneed devices(in bios or windows?). anyway didnt work for me but let me know if you have any luck?

  • Audigy 2 ZS plat Pro, "What you hear"? problem PLEASE H

Hello, im a gamer, I play cs:source. I just bought the plat pro and I have issues. In gaming you must use a microphone to communicate. And everything was great with my Audigy gamer. But after purchasing the plat pro I noticed I had a problem. In the system volume properties in recording windows xp has the default playback as "what you hear". It doesnt transmit what you speak into the microphone, it transmits "what you hear" Lets say you were listening to music and you try to talk into the mic. All they hear is the music, even though you have headphones on and the microphone isnt picking it up. Anyways, thats what "What you hear" does. So I select microphone in the recording properties and all is great, problem fixed. but when I load up cs:source and when I connect to a server it resets windows defaults to "what you hear" So everytime I connect to a server and try to talk all they hear are my game sounds. yes I can alt tab after connectiing to a server and switch it back again to "microphone" but its quite a hassle.

  • Audigy 2 ZS/Creative Inspire 7.1 issues, please he

<FONT face="verdana, arial, helvetica" size=2>Ok guys, I just put together my new Creative Inspire 7. speaker set (already had an Audigy 2 ZS) and none of my games are recognizing the speakers as 3d. The control panel is set, I double checked my wire connections. What have I missed?

    Justcrash,
What games are giving you this problem? Also make sure you are set to 7. in both creative speaker settings and in the Advanced Section for speakers that is in the Sounds and Audio Devices section of Control Panel.

  • SB Audigy 2 (not ZS) + Inspire T7700 (1 Speaker not working)

I have just bought a the Inspire T7700 for my my normal SB Audigy 2.
I know that the normal SB Audigy 2 just supports 6.1, right?I have plugged in the subwoofer and the speakers as shown in the quick manual. Then i have connected the 3 cables in the first three holes of my SB Audigy 2. The jumper on the subwoofer is set to 6.1->7.1 I'm using Win XP Home (SP2) and already have installed the newest Audigy 2 Driver. In the the Creative Driver i have chosen 6.1 Profile and Windows has automatically choosen a 7.1 Profile in it'ss own "Sound Settings".(I have already checked, but WIndows has no own 6.1 Profile, only 7.1!)If i now start playing sound the rear left + rear right + side right speaker doesn?t work!If i change change the jumper on the subwoofer (uppest position, think that was 5.1-7.1) and now all speakers work, except one, the front right one!But if i make a "channel test" with the Creative Driver software the channels are completely mixed up.All speakers seems to be positioned wrong! So what did i do wrong? Can't i use all speakers with my normal SB Audigy 2?Is 6.1->7.1 the wrong jumper setting on the subwoofer although it should be the right one (-> manual) for my soundcard? But why do 3 speakers not work then?Hope somebody can help me.

    I have done the following:
Since all speakers seem to work, except one if i choose the uppest switch on the subwoofer (think that is "direct", right?)i decided to change the position of the three cables that connect to my SB Audigy 2, because another problem of this situation is, (as i already mentioned above) that all speakers seem to be placed wrong when doing the "Channel test"!After changing the cable?s position in the Audigy 2 quite often i suddenly found a position, where all speakers work (CMSS "on") AND at least the speakers (front right, center, front left, side left, side right)are placed correctly when doing the "Channel-test". I don't know why but if i try to calibrate the speakers in the Creative-Software and click on the speaker that i hear the sound coming from there are some speakers, that always make a noise together with another speaker. In summary, i can't calibrate all the boxes, because some always ound together with another one and some other speakers didn't even makes any noise!Doesn anyone know this problem?
