Audigy 2 ZS Plat/WinXP x64/Gigabyte 965P-DS3/pop, click, hiss during HDD activity **FIXE

Alright, I've been searching the posts on this board for the past hour with no luck in solving my problem.
Here are my system specs:
Core 2 Duo E4300
4GB G.Skill DDR2-800
eVGA 8800GTX
Audigy 2 ZS Plat
2x320GB SATA RAID 0
Windows XP x64 SP2
Whenever there is sound playing during HDD activity the sound clicks, hisses, and pops severely, definitely to the point of being unusable. This happens with both the rear jack and the front panel. The RAID array is on the JMicron controller on the board, not the Intel ICH8 south bridge. This problem does not seem to exist under Windows Vista x64, but that is so unstable that I really need XP to work correctly. I also have the Surround Mixer, Speaker Setup, and EAX Console apps installed, if that means anything.
Things I have tried:
Driver reinstallation
<
"Clean boot" method described in the FAQ<
Things I have not tried:
Putting the card in another PCI slot
<
Changing the IRQ of the card
<
Changing the PCI latency<
I don't know a whole lot about the last two (the IRQ and the latency) so if someone could help me out there I'd really appreciate it. Thanks for checking out my problem and for any help you may provide.
EDIT: I have fixed the issue! The problem was I was using an older driver for the JMicron controller when I slipstreamed it into my XP x64 install disc. I had used the newest one when I installed Vista. I'll keep this post here to help out anyone else who has this issue!
Get the driver!

As the title says, when I try to run the test through the Speaker Settings application the rear right/left channels come through the front right/left respecti'vely. What's going on here? Yes, it is set to 5. and yes the cables are hooked up correctly (orange, black, green from the firewire port over). Speakers are Logitech Z-640.
I'm going to try under Vista and report my findings.

Re the F8 trick: Thanks. Still very annoying, as it needs to be pressed and selected on every boot. Still, it's a workaround. Re "hey it's only beta" and "not signed on purpose", I will argue that not signing drivers puts an unneccessary installation hurdle before the user. Worse, it is not readily apparent how to circumvent that hurdle. That drastically reduces the number of users that will install and use the driver, and could thus give feedback on it. My assumption is that Creative have released the beta drivers publically to get a wide range of good feedback on their performance. Also, to give the most impacted users an alternative to just removing their Creative card and falling back to onboard sound. Both objectives are more easily achieved if the driver can be installed - and used - without needing to go through an F8 boot menu on every startup. The driver is already designated as beta and carries a prominent expiration date. Not signing the driver does not do anything to alert the user of the fact that this is a beta that the expiration date popup did not already do. Look to graphics cards. You will find beta drivers there, released mainly to relieve pressing issues in-between driver releases. Those drivers are signed, yet no one doubts that they are beta drivers, not least because they are released on a page that displays a very prominent BETA logo. Creative has goals in publically releasing beta drivers, which won't be met if users can't install the drivers.

  • SATA RAID problem on K8N Neo2 Platinum (nForce3 ultra) & winXP x64

I entered on MSI driver dowload page, put my model, and i found out that the RAID driver for win x64 wasn't released (nforce3 ultra), but in the same page was the driver for the nforce4, so I supposed it was compatible. I made the driver disk. press F6 and he askme for the drivers, ok, i introduce BOTH drivers, he detects perefctly the SATA RAID (stripping) format the disk, copy the files and ask me for some .CATof teh raid driver that wasn't on the zip file.... omit files, reboots, completes the instalation, but on the first boot of win x64 when it's just about to show the windows screen, a bue windows, and resets the pc so fast that's unreadable.  fail safe start.. same crash.
I Installed win on an IDE and it run prefectly... In th other hand... without installing any driver the windows instalation recognices the SATA drives, but not the RAID. Maybe I just got to install the raid driver but not the SATA driver... the nforce3 driver form nvidia.com is pretty old... The real funny is that when i installed winXp x64 BETA i hadn' any problem... (winXP 64 doesn't admit the 32 bit driver=
Which driver i'm supposed to install? to INSTALL winxp64 on a SATA RAID and make it boot from there?
    Thaks a lot

HI! i'm the one wih the raid problem on a k8n neo2....
That's what a i Did.. i unpacked the exe and copy the files in a floppy... question is: if i do that, windows instaler askme for some files that aren't in the .exe, anway it reconices the raid and everithing goes fine until the first BOOT on windos... it shows a blue screen, butremoves it so fast that i cant read it or pause the system. But i know it's a raid problem because if i install it on a ide disk it works.
The nforce3 drivers are almost a year old, and i'm not sure if nforce4 is compatible...
I think the're compatible because if you enter in msi driver download page and select my model, they put the Nforce3 and nforce4 for win64 and my model is only nforce3. The thing is they havent released the nforce3 for WIN 64.... So.. It's normal that win asks me for some files that ain't in the .zip file (i extracted the files o course) and Which driver should i put the Nvidia one year old nforce3 or the new nforce4. (the nforce3 for 32 bits is rejected by windows) or... i have to wait the new nforce3?
    thanks for helps

  • Computer compatible with sounblaster audigy 2 ZS Plat

I currently have the 6bit version of soundblaster li've on a dell dimension 2400 PC and was curious if i would be able to install soundblaster audigy 2 ZS Plat Pro instead. Is my computer compatible with this because im having difficulty finding anything out from Dell

    ACUBaller83,
If your system fits to these specifications then it should work, just make sure to completely uninstall the Li've! before installing this (and put the Audigy 2 ZS into a different PCI slot).

  • ORA-12154 on WinXP x64

    Hello,
    I have a WinXP x64 with Oracle Client 9.2
it works fine with SQLplus,SQL Navigater and XAMPP server
but with Golden and Crystal I get everytime an error
"ORA-12154 could not resolve service name error"
with a normal WinXP SP2 I did not have problems
Has anyone a solution for my problem?

Did you ever find a solution? I have the same problem.
I have tried the Oracle 32 bit and 64 bit client applications. Both were installed in C:\oracle\product... when I tried them. The 32 bit client was 10.1.0.2 and the 64 bit was 10.2.0.1. Both will not allow me to use an ODBC connection in MS Access.
MS Access is part of Office 2003 and is installed in the C:\Program Files (x86) folder. I even tried installing Access from Office XP in C:\Program Files and had the same results.
I have tried creating the ODBC connection from Control Panel>Administrative Tools and from C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbc32.exe. Both would let me connect to Oracle successfully, but when I try to use them in MS Access I get errors. For the 64 bit ODBC driver I get an error that it isn't installed, and for the 32 bit ODBC driver I get an ORA-12154 TNS names error.

  • K8N Diamond Plus SiI 3132 WinXP x64 non-RAID drivers?

    Hi
I'm looking for non-RAID drivers for the SiI 3132 on my K8N Diamond Plus for WinXP x64 (I managed to fine the x32 ones and they work fine so I know it's not the drives or the moboard.  I tried the drivers on MSI's website.
I've searched around the forum and followed the leads onto planetamd64 and the Asus website for them, but to no avail.
To be precise, I have selected non-RAID in the BIOS, and the drives to show up on on the POST screen, but do not appear in Win 64; there is the classic exclamation mark in the device manager for a 'Mass Storage Device'.  I don't want to concatenate the drives in RAID mode, so I did not try booting with that selected in the BIOS lest it destroy the stuff I have on them.
[I miss the simple JBOD option in the 3114...]
    Any help gratefully appreciated!
    thx
    bn

    Hi all,
    I solved the problem.
You won't find the drivers under the drivers section of SiI's website but you will in the Knowledge Base.  Look under Serial ATA | COntrollers | SiI3132, you'll find article 11043 'SATA 64 bit Windows IDE driver - released' dated 8/19/05.  Click under that and you'll find a file 3132_win64_idrv_1004_logo.zip.  It's what you need.
    Hope this helps someone.

EAudigy 2 Value randomly pops/clicks when the computer is just idling.; I can't figure out why the I hear random popping and clicking when I'm doing absolutely nothing to the computer. Typing this right now doesn't seem to cause any popping. It usually happens when I'm not really doing anything to my computer. This was happening with Creative's drivers and software so I switched to kX drivers, but that didn't help. When I first got my computer (Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe) and got the Audigy 2, I had no problem with Creative's software/drivers at the time, no popping had occur until I installed an SATA HD. After my motherboard supposely didn't want to POST anymore, I bought another one which was the Epox. And same problem occured even though I reformat and reinstalled windows.
Right now, the only thing I could think of that the SATA HD and Sound Blaster cards don't mix well together. But none of these are sharing resources. • Hello !, can i install Mac OSX Lion to my PC (not mac)  i have got Intel Core2 Quad processor and Gigabyte P35-DS3 and 3GB RAM and ATI Radeon HD4850 Sapphire graphics Card ?

    Hello Guys
i want to install MacOSX to my pc
i heard something about that (like OSX86 project ?)
i have got Intel Core2 Quad processor and Gigabyte P35-DS3 and 3GB RAM and ATI Radeon HD4850 Sapphire graphics Card ?
    please answer .......

Teknus...  Here's the issue.  For starters, I understand software licensing issues may not be interpreted the same in all countries (although they are still applicable).  I also understand that everyone is not familiar with what software licensing is.  It is technically possible to install OS X on a PC (as you have seen on your friends computer).  However, Apple has designed OS X to only work on Macs.  In order to get OS X to work on a PC, it must be modified ("hacked").  As these forums are owned by Apple, we are not permitted to provide you with instructions on how to hack their OS.
Having said that, I have used OS X on PCs.  It is not a pleasant experience at all.  The experience is actually poor enough on a PC that I would not even use it... opting for Windows or Linux instead.  You're simply sacrificing too much of the true OS X experience when you try to run it on standard PC hardware.  If you want to try  a different operating system, give Linux a try.  There are many free versions out there and they will run on just about any PC.  The forums are also very helpful.  Linux is much more similar to OS X than Windows.
I understand that Macs are expensive and that you would like to use OS X on a PC.  The simple fact is that using it on a PC would not be the same as using it on a Mac.

I can confirm that I have similar problem with SoundBlaster X-Fi XtremeMusic, 4GB RAM, Windows XP Pro x64 Edition.
No hardware sound buffers. This basically means my games are NOT hardware accelerated.
I bought this card so I could have hardware acceleration and I could dump my Realtek on-board AC'97 audio.
I'd like to know how this can be fixed and when can we get working drivers for 4gigabytes of RAM ?
4 Gigabyte will become common soon when Vista will be more used, since Vista uses a lot of memory.

But the 2_07_0004 released couple of days ago for Vista OSx64, seems to work nice with my WinXp PRo x64 OS and Battlefield 2! So far no lock?s and studders! OpenAl works fine now! Maybe the new driver coming soon for X-FI for WinXP Pro x64 will be great! Hopes up for me!!
Post if you get same results or even different results please!!

Yeah you do that!! Because i was wrong, i still get lockups and studders... i was premature in my statement... played BF2 just minutes ago, and ofcourse the "studders" and "lock-ups" were back! So i don?t know if it is hardware failure or if it still is in the drivers? Maybe it'ss that nForce chips doesnt like hardware?s from Creative? Ive read in other post that many people with nForce4 mobo?s have trouble with audigy2 or x-fi?
Hmm i hope the new driver that is coming this month solves alot of problems? Please creative, i would like to be able play Battlefield 2 without a lot of problems!!
