Audigy 2 ZS Platinum and Windows 7 problems

Hi there,
Recently upgraded to a new PC and Windows 7, and am gutted that the audio/interface card no longer seems to work. I mean, it works for simple listening duties, but the Line In/Mic, "What You Hear" etc., are all registered as "currently unavailable". I home record a radio show, so I'm in a panic to get the card working properly. I'd have to downgrade to XP.
The current drivers available are listed as working for Windows 7 on the Creative site, not sure they should be up when they don't.
Any sign of a resolution for this, or ideas what I could do?

/ Came up with something of a partial fix for this.
Right click the driver installation file, go to properties, find the compatibility bit and change it to XP, then install.
Most things stayed not working, but the one I really need "Line in 2/Mic 2" now works, thankfully.
Be nice to get all the functionality back though!

  • Audigy 2zs Gamer and Windows Vista / Windows 7

.Audigy 2zs Gamer and Windows Vista / Windows 7? Hello, I am just wondering if it is a known issue to have really loud static and crackling when playing games using this card in Vista or Windows 7. I had this issue playing Bioshock a few months back on my Vista boot. I never figured out a way to resolve it so I belei've I just eventually uninstalled the driver and used the card without a driver install (not sure but I think this what I did). It worked but I might as well of just ran onboard sound...
Now I have installed and tried to run Windows 7 on a dual boot but I started receiving really loud cracking and popping in Warhammer Online and realized I had not installed a driver for my sound card. I did not expect creative to have a Win 7 driver yet but thought perhaps the Vista driver would work in compatibility mode, it does and sounds awesome and really makes me remember what I am missing without my driver installed on Vista but unfortunatly it randomly starts the crackling and popping again after a while...especially when a lot start happening on screen (pvp raids with many characters on screen and magic effects).
When the crackling starts happening I have no choice but to exit the game and restart the computer to get rid of the noise, but randomly it comes back after a while during gameplay. So as a temporary solution I have installed my onboard sound drivers and have been using that for sound output and my mic port on my sound card for my microphone. I would REALLY love to get my sound issues worked out in both Vista and Win 7 because it sounds SOOO awesome while it's working, the popping though is terrible, I never had that issue in XP.
I know this is an older card but any help would be appreciated!?

One thing you do need to learn is that SHOUTING IS MUCH HARDER TO READ!
But, if you are using Audition 1 and it works with XP, then if you have the chance, I'd stick to that on a new machine. Apart from anything else, it's completely untried with Windows7 and with Vista its a) likely to have problems, and b) going to run slower.
The other part of your question about the 'look' of later versions is that 1.5 looks pretty similar to 1.0, but with 2.0 and 3.0 things have changed somewhat - rather more with Multitrack View than Edit View. Basic operating principle remains the same, though - most people have had very little trouble transferring from one to another.

  • Audigy 2 ZS and windows 7 only mapping a 2.1 speaker playback

=Audigy 2 ZS and windows 7 only mapping a 2. speaker playback? I have an Audigy 2 ZS and windows 7-64,?it seems to be?only? mapping a 2. speaker setup for audio playback?with regards to WMP, Mediasource player and other similar sources.
Under Xp and vista would have just selected surroundsound under the creative audio console, but now that option is unavailable and probably not supported under Win7.
I have a 5. set of speakers, 5. mapping?is working for sources that do support it such as games and DVDs.
My question is"is this a known problem with my card and win7 or a problem with my system setup/configuration"
For the time being, i'm having to boot into Vista whenever?I fancy listening to some music which is of course quite inconvenient.
Please someone let me know if there is a fix for this, creative mod or user, anyone.
    Much appreciated,
    Screwy.

It is no 7. support, only 5.
You can try to install this:

    but before you do completely uninstall all Creative drivers and software from system. I recommend this method;

  • Audigy 5 Rx and windows 7 64

I have just purchased the Audigy 5 Rx and windows 7 64 will not install this sound card , I can find in the device manager the Multimedia Audio controller card but when I try to install the drivers windows returns an error in installing them is there a trick or something I am missing , I have tried since Dec 30 with no luck even took the card out and put it back in , I am using a PCIe slot

Look on your CD for a "drivers" folder and then the WDM. You can browse to this in device manager and manually install your drivers by finding your AUDIGY 5, double clicking, then choose update driver, and then browse my computer for driver software. After installing, reboot. Retest the card. I have done this several times over the years when "setup.exe" on the CD wont work.

  • Audigy 2 Value and Windows 7 64bit driver don't work

my first Audigy SE before Audigy 2 Value (SB0400) worked perfect on Windows 7 64bit
with Audigy 2 Value SB0400 i tried 3 drivers , including the beta from the creative support , original and daniel_k driver and after reboot the windows hangs at LOGO and stays there.

Re: SB Audigy 2 ZS and Windows 7 - Full Package driver?T While Creative has written new drivers and some applications for Windows 7/Vista for the Audigy, they have not re-written or updated all of the original applications on the CD. This card is very old now. What Daniel K. did was take all of the applications or most of them, and tweaked them to properly install and include themselves in the registry on operating systems other than Windows XP. For the full and most recent package, check here:
    http://forums.creative.com/t5/Sound-...009/td-p/53838
If the application you want is not included in his package, then you can try downloading the official Creative version and install it on your system in "compatibility mode" by right clicking the file, and choosing properties, and then the compatibility tab and choosing "Windows XP service pack 2 or 3" and it may or may not function.

My question is about applications. Why offical drivers don't have applications?
"Audio Effects are high quality music enhancement efects created by the powerful audio engine in your sound device."
I need Audio Effects! Especially Advanced EQ and Graphic Equalizer.
The Sound is much better with this effects.
Please, do something because I love this sound card!

  • SB Audigy 2 Platinum Remote Control Problem, Need THis Resolved quic

    Hi
this is a Known issue to Symantec Support, I really really want to be able to use my Audigy 2 Remote Control with this Soundcard, but I can't, until Symantec or YOUR SLOW AS MOLASSES COMPANY UPDATES MEDIASOURCE SOFTWARE SO THESE 2 PROGRAMS DON"T CONFLICT, WITH REMOTE CENTER LOADING ON STARTUP, IT WILL NOT LOAD AUTOPROTECT FOR NORTON ANTIVIRUS 2005
FIX THIS, and quickly, is all I have to say
Or let use SB Audigy 2 Platinum Users download the newest versions of the software

    Hi
I don't have that file on startup--SBDrvdet, All I have is Creative DVD Audio Driver Detector, CTHelper, and RCman, which is disabled so Norton's Autoprotect will work ok.
    Thanks for the reply though
Here is Symantecs workaround, I guess I can li've with these, but if Norton's Autoprotect winds up disabling by this workaround, and I happen to get a trojan or virus in..then I won't be very happy

After Disabling Creative DVD Audio Detector, I reenabled the Remote Control and restarted, and so far so good last 2 days without a conflict With Norton Antivirus, if it really does solve the problem, I will email Symantec Support and let them know the solution, so they can inform other users with the same problem, since obviously creative doesn't want to assist them in finding the problem or provide help fixing it. So far Remote Control hasn't been an issue, but I'm gonna wait til end of month to send off an email to Symantec to make sure it's actually fixed. Since if it doesn't drop out of me by then, then I know it's fixed, since was only in 2 weeks before it got the internal program error before.

  • Audigy 2 ZS and Windows ME: switching to VXD drivers from WDM driv

<FONT color=#3300cc>Recently changed my sound card from an Audigy 2 to Audigy 2 ZS. OS is Windows ME. I used the VXD drivers with the old card and have been having lots of sound troubles that I have never experienced with a Creative card (distortion, sound sticking, etc.) using the WDM drivers and wanted to switch to the VXD drivers to see if this might correct problems. Have tried using CTZAPXX from original Audigy 2 ZS installation CD, but VXD drivers are grayed out.
    <FONT color=#3300cc>
<FONT color=#3300cc>I know it must be possible to switch to the VXD drivers, because on the Creative downloads page is a driver update with fixes "after switching to VXD drivers using Driver Utility."
<FONT color=#3300cc>One other note - When I do use the WDM drivers with this card, it is listed as "SBLi've!" under Audio Properties and it fails on Creative Diagnostics.

  • Audigy 2 ZS and Windows 9

I had lots of trouble installing the Audigy 2 ZS under W98SE. After the final reboot the System used Standard-VGA and the NVIDIA-driver was not accessible to change back to 024x768x32.
There was no error-message during the installation process.
    To exclude the "standard-trouble-shooting"-hints:
It was a "sound-clean" Windows before, no previous sound-driver!
System was up-to-date, used "Windows-Update" before.
    Newest Intel-Chipset-Drivers for the 865PE-chipset.
Newest BIOS for the Asus P4P800-SE-Board.
    No other PCI-Cards.
No IRQ-conflicts before AND after Installation.
Problem occured using both the CD-driver and the driver-update.
I did not lose my CD!
I found two workarounds, but no solution:
. No problem using the VXD-driver; problem seems to be "WDM-driver-exclusi've"
    2. No problem using the WDM-driver, whem limiting the amount of RAM to 5 instead of 52 MB using the MSCONFIG.EXE.
The result of this workaround is a stable and perfect working system with 5 MB of ram. When the limitation is unchecked and the system can use the built-in-52-MB of RAM - the problem re-appears.
Has anybody any idea or is anybody using the Audigy 2 ZS under Windows 98SE with 52 MB of RAM?
    Greetings from Germany!

Technically, there isn't one yet, that's exactly what the rest of us are trying to badger CL into releasing, but given the wait X-fi?user had to go through?I wouldn't hold my breath.

  • Neo Platinum and windows boot

well i got this board just last week along with an AMD 64bit 3200+ CPU .. everything is running fine except when i boot
the "platinum" screen shows, then detects my raid card (silicon image sil 0680 ultra-133 medley ata raid) and the one drive attached to it, after that it goes to boot into windows, the "windows XP" logo appears faded (like 20% opacity) then the computer hangs for like 30 seconds (the logo is frozen, as well as the bar) then the logo appears normally and the blue bar starts moving and windows boots up fine ...
    anyone have any suggestions? :D
    btw im a newbie :p
    thanks, levi.
    running windows XP SP2

I'm there brother - I got the same EXACT problem.  But I believe this is related to the BIOS version.  From what I've seen, people have fixed this issue by installing the 1.43 BIOS (currently in beta).  I'd love to know when they're going to release it officially.
IOW, we gots to wait   ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ....

  • "recording device already in use," audigy2 platinum and windows 2

I recently did a clean install of windows 2000 sp4, and now I get some sort of "recording device already in use" error with 3 different recording programs. I installed the drivers from the CD with the 'just drivers' option. I already tried an uninstall/reinstall and the problem occurs with no other non-windows programs running. I found a few other instances of the problem in the forum, but no solutions. Any ideas?

I dont understand this reply, what has mute microphone to do with this problem ? The problem i have is using more than 1 input at a time.
I changed to the integrated sound card and now everything is fine, i can mix limitless of inputs without the soundcard telling me its busy. Also the static noise on high volumes are also gone now ........
Ive always bought the most expensive sound cards from creative but when i get better sound with the integrated i have no choice anymore. So tired of all the problems with the X-Fi series.

  • Dual Boot Linux and Windows problem with HDDRecovery

    Hello
I`m using dual OS Windows Vista and Linux open SUSE distribution on Toshiba Satellite A350-10z, everything is working great except Windows Recovery. I have Linux (boot:dev/sda6) and Windows Vista (boot:dev/sda2). Windows has 2 partitions, Disk C and D, on Disc D i have HDDRecovery folder. After F8 i using the repair option and waiting, then the massage is displayed "The installed program cannot start. Click OK to turn off the computer".
Before i installed Linux the Recovery worked fine. Is there a chance of using the HDDRecovery from Windows Disk D or i have to boot from Recovery DVD?

In my opinion Linux has muddled up the partitions or MBR and possibly this is the reason why the HDD recover does not work seems the Recover DVD is your option ion order to set the notebook back to factory settings.
By the way: I didnt install the Linux on my notebook but I use Linux using the Knoppix Live CD

  • Audigy 1 Platinum and Prince of Persia:Warrior Wit

Ok, I have an Audigy Platinum. I recently updated to the latest drivers and everything. I usually don't like updating the drivers for this card, but i recently had to due to PowerDVD6 sound not working correctly in 5.. Well I fixed the PowerDVD6 problem, and now have a new problem. I recently installed Prince of Persia :Warrior Within, and once passed the UBI soft logo, the sound shuts off, and I'm left without sound. I also noticed that when I ALT-TAB back to the desktop, I go to my AUDIO HQ, and check the EAX Control panel, and its empty, no presets, or environments.. All I wanna know is, WHAT DO I DO?!!!!
I would hate to have to purchase a new Card, even I understand this is an older card..
    Please Help!!

I have the same problem, is there some way to change the language settings?
Edit:: press the i (info button) then press twice the first button, you can choose languages by clicking the right flag

  • Audigy 2 ZS and Windows 7 RTM drivers

    Hey
I was wondering about Audigy 2 ZS drivers for Windows 7 RTM. Any information on them? I want to get the card fully (or as close to fully) working on Windows 7 but the most important part is that it supports (my)?7. speakers.

Creative's latest should do fine (v2.8.00), but be aware that there's a problem with playing MP3s in Windows Media Player while in 5. mode (prolly applies to 7. mode aswell) - I can only confirm this is the case in the Win7 R though, may work fine in other versions of Windows.
Or use Dan K's, but with his, despite re-enabling CMSS2 and Stereo Surround for the various speaker configs, his packs screws up CMSS/CMSS2 when in headphones mode (which personally is the only time I use CMSS - love me some virtualized 5.).
I'd go with Creatives if you game and use headphones mode much.
