Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Internal Drive Headphone prob

This is a new system built over the holidays. I tried using the headphone jack for the first time yesterday. When I plugged into the jack, the diagnostics switched from 5. speakers to headphones automatically, but I could get no sound. Today I decided to download the latest software and re-checked the connections. Now diagnostics does not automatically switch when I plug in the headphones and I am getting sound out of both the headphones and the speakers. Although I can't swear to it, I think the left/right on the headphones are backwards (the Sony headphones really only fit my head in one direction). I am using the headphone jack adapter that came with the Audigy.
The remote control works and I have a red light from the optical out. Card is in a PCI slot that does not share its interrupt. Any suggestions?

Hello.
I am having a similar problem:
When I first installed the card output to speakers worked fine but the Li'veDri've ins and outs did not appear in the mixer, and they of course didn't work either. Also, the remote control application didn't detect the Li'veDri've as the source of the IR.
After fiddling with the drivers (including doing the AutoUpdate), I shutdown the computer and removed the ribbon, power and firewire cables from the Li'veDri've, unseated my sound card as well as removing the IDE ribbon from it, and booted to Windows. I shutdown the computer again, and reinstalled the sound card and dri've.
The inputs were added to the mixer and Line In 2 and the Auxiliary 2 work, but the headphone out still does not work at all, and, while the Li'veDri've is detected by the remote application, the remote control still does not work. Regarding that, does anyone else's battery rattle in the remote control, especially when placed on a table?
I have checked the pins for the ribbon cable on both ends as well as making sure that the cable is firmly seated. I don't know where to go from here but to Creative's warranty services which take a minimum of 2 weeks to complete.
I also have all of the Creative Apps prevented from loading on startup, do they affect the functionality of the dri've?
Thanks for any insight,

• Creative Sound Blaster Audigy ZS And Vista Driver installation prob

HI!
I encounter Installation problems with that file:
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy Value/SE/LS and Sound Blaster Li've! 24-bit XP and Windows Vista Pack .04.0077
I Use Vista 64Bit Ultimate and when I try to install this package I have an error message after my language selection. Is there a known issue for this
Thanks!

Yes it is called trying to install the wrong driver for your card. Will work much better if you try installing the correct one,
SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_8_000.exe
Also helps if you click on the "Show Details" link on the download page, then you would see that the one you tried to install doesn't support your card,
Requirements:
Microsoft Windows Vista 64-bit, Windows Vista 32-bit, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 or Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004
Sound Blaster Audigy Value/SE/LS, or Sound Blaster Li've! 24-bit audio devices
whereas the correct driver shows the following,
This download supports the following audio devices only:
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy including Platinum and Platinum eX series
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 including Platinum, Platinum eX, and Value series
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS including Platinum and Platinum Pro series

I own a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS, and in the instruction manual and on your website you mention a Internal Dri've Upgrade Option like the one that comes with the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum. My question is i have found similar products available for the Sound Blaster Li've series, but i have not found that product available as an upgrade for the audigy 2 zs. Could you tell me if it is not in production or if the li've di've IR is compatible with the audigy 2 zs. Also the manual noted a adapter needed for the spdif out, were is that available?

• Cannot buy Audigy 2 ZS internal drive bay from Creative

Only just got an Audigy 2 ZS and decided to get the I/O internal bay for it from Creative Uk.
Out of stock and they told me they will not be getting anymore.
Buying the card and getting the dri've bay would have cost me ?5 instead of the ?20 or more elsewhere for the Platinum(zs).
Now I wish I had gone for that instead.
Cannot get it from USA as they told me they do not ship to UK.
Apart from that I don't use credit cards and Creative Uk takes other cards.
Any comments or ideas?

• Sound Blaster Audigy 2 platinum pro ex Vista prob

Hello. I am using this card for two years now and it is great. It has everything i need. I dont want to change it now. It works great on Windows XP and I am using surround mixer and other features without any problems. But sometimes I?need some of its features on Vista Ultimate. I need surround mixer because from there i easily set my playback and recording devices. In Vista, i have to go through several windows just to set recording source level. I read some posts here today. Is it POSSIBLE that creative didnt come up with some sort of simple mixer with playback and recording devices choices and levels? Just a little mixer. How is that possible? I really like Creative products and this is the only one i have problem with. I understand EAX problem and other stuff, but I only ask for a simple application that will make my work on my PC much, much easier. I? saw some download URLs for modded driver CD here on forums but i dont know if that would solve my problem and if it is a final solution. Are there any plans to release a mixer similar to one in vista now but just with another logic so I dont have to go through so many windows to set levels, balanse. etc... Please. Vlado

Two thoughts, faulty card or faulty wiring/connections. Most likely
the wiring/connections.

Hey all
Does anyone know where I can get a in silver with all the text on it. I have a anodized silver aluminum Lian Li case and the white one just doesn't cut it, and the black ones I have seed don't either.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply. Paint huh? I don't think I would have the skill to be able to match the aluminum of the Lian Li (last thing I painted was in 4th grade). If anyone does know a better solution, I would appreciate it.Message Edited by silkshadow on 04-2-2005 07:52 AM

• Audigy 2 Platinum Front Panel Probl

Hello everyone. Thank you in advance for any help.
My problem is two-fold, let me begin with the first issues.
Critical Issue One: On my Audigy 2 Platinum neither the headphone jack nor the Line 2 in/Mic 2 in jacks appear to be at all functional. I can get no sound to go in or come out using them. Additionally, I don't see a volume slider to control either of them in the surround mixer. Is it possible somehow that the entire front panel is disabled? I looked inside my computer and it appears to be connected firmly (the AD_EXT cable is the only one connecting my sound card to anything internally). As a side note I have already tried doing a full, clean reinstall of the drivers, to no avail.
Issue Two: I can no longer auto update my drivers using Creative's site. I believe this is somehow related to IE7, it always functioned perfectly with IE6. When I try to update now the message I get is: "Some components are corrupted." I did a search in the knowledge base and followed the instructions to fix this problem (Deleting the Acti've X controls) but this does not resolve the issue (I also noticed by searching the forums that people with similar problems never found a resolution beyond "doing a manual driver install"). I believe that the acti've x controls that I am downloading get corrupted each time. Is it possible that someone could send me, fully functional non corrupted creative acti've x controls that I could install? Or is this simply an incompatibility between the creative site and IE7?

• MBP internal drive failure causes external drive probs. Weird...

I've been booting off an external drive for some months now. I figured it would save wear on the internal drive, and when my boot drive eventually failed (the external one) it would be quicker and a lot cheaper to swap that out with another external one than to have to change the internal drive. I use FW800 and not seen any performance hit.
Yesterday (with the whole system booted from the external drive) it started going really buggy, everything was painfully slow - like, virtually at a standstill, and with a very slow wi-fi internet connection.
I tried rebooting. It would only boot from the external drive, and only if I held down the option key and selected a boot from the options that appear. Otherwise just the apple symbol and an endless twirly. It wouldn't boot from the internal drive +at all.+
Eventually I booted from the SL disk and ran disk utilities. To my surprise the internal drive was corrupted in some way and couldn't be repaired. I wiped the drive and restored it using Time Machine (stored on yet another drive). Everything then worked fine, except for the slow wi-fi.
So, +why should a corrupted internal drive stop the MBP booting from an external drive?+ This is worrying for me if the machine ever goes down at work and I have to rely on booting from another drive, which then might not boot properly and is buggy.
To complicate matters (or does it offer a clue?) this morning I booted from the usual external drive. It worked ok, but wi-fi was still slow. Another Mac here was showing the same internet slowness, so I figured it was maybe the ISP.
Then the MBP itself started going slow n buggy again. A check on the internal drive showed no return of yesterday's probs. On a hunch I unplugged the router from the mains and plugged it in again. The wi-fi then worked properly as did everything else.
+Why would a buggy router affect my MBP? Could it have corrupted the internal drive?? Why should any of that affect the machine's ability to boot from an external drive..?+
Thoughts anyone?

clicked 'solved' but the credit went to the wrong place!
it's solved, thanks to clinton:

• Midi ports line in ports Fire Wire etc on the Audigy 2 platinum, new Creative Driver for Vis

Hi, I have been using my Audigy 2 platinum dri've for a few years now and have been very pleased with it, the main things I do on my pc is music creation mainly Midi but also some analogue audio as well, I also do lots of video making. I am just about to build a new system with Vista ultimate as the platform, I currently use XP Pro. I have little use for Creative?s own software and personally I do not think it is that good, I know Creative have released a new driver for my sound card But, my question is will my Midi port connections and things like my line in and the auxiliary ports and the fire wire port on the front platinum panel work with this new driver, and without the Creative software installed on my pc, and as we all no by now it looks like we will not be seeing any at all, or not for ages yet. you see I am a wheelchair user and I can not readily fiddly about a the back of my pc that is why a bought the sound blaster so I can easily plug in and unplug what I like, can anyone give me some help or advice on this issue please. ??

Guess I wasn't clear enough. I have uninstalled the soundcard and reinstalled over a dozen times even going so far as making sure all the drivers that the device properties lists are really deleted from the system. I have resinstalled DirectX at least twice using the latest version from MS. The only thing I have not done with DirectX so far is installed the SDK version which I will be doing eventually anyway. I even uninstalled and then reinstalled my video card as it shared files with the sound card. As for getting the latest version of openAL I see little point in that as Windows forces openAL through DirectX anyway and none of my games use it. Nor does the device depend on it to work. Any other suggestions?

• Audigy 2 Platinum prob

Hello,?Upon uninstalling the Bioshock demo today I noticed that my headphones were no longer functioning out of the Audigy 2 front port. I checked the volume and headphones, both those were working properly and nothing was muted. I can hear the sound out of my speakers normally. Additionally, if I now click on Surround Mixer I get "unable to change the sound device to your selected device."? I tinkered around a bit in device manager but did not find precisely what I was looking for evidentally to fix the issue. All the sound devices were set to Audigy 2, and that is where I get stuck!?Any advice as to where to look would be helpful.Message Edited by Platinumstorm on 08-22-2007:3 PM
Update*
I've been able to get to the surround mixer by reinstalling the drivers, but being able to get the headphones to work through the device still isn't happening... If anyone has any advice i'd appreciate it =D.

• Audigy 1 Platinum (not eX) and 5.1 Headphones - Not Compatib

Hello.
I recently bought a pair of Zalman 5. channel headphones over the net and am finding trouble with my Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum.
The Headphones have 3 jacks. Front, Rear and Centre.
My Soundblaster Audigy has the following ports. Digital, Line In, Mic, Line Out (Front), Rear Out.
What do I do with the "centre" jack? Are these headphones incompatabible with the Audigy? Do I have to by a new Audigy 2 ZS?

Hi,
The Digital output jack also doubles as the centre/sub channel. If oyu check page 39 of the Audigy Platinum manual available here http://files.europe.creative.com/manualdn/Manuals/TSD/040/Sound%20Blaster%20Audigy%20Platinum%20Users%20Guid e%20English.pdf you'll get a diagram of how to hook your system up.
Hope this helps,
John

A lot of points here: first try reinserting the card, do not uninstall the drivers. Sometimes the card does not seat correctly in the PCI slot which if partially connected will cause the computer to continually verify what hardware is installed but loops off at that stage.
Take the card out (PC off) and firmly reinsert so your hear it seat fully home.
The Audigy should be in PCI slot 3.
If this does not work I think you may be looking at formatting your HDD and do a fresh install of windows. If you do decide to do this remember to install drivers in the correct order - INF chipset, windows update, video, audigy, wireless, others, rebooting twice between each.
Re which board, Intel does not boast as many features as some other boards but is more robust and everybody tests their products on a Intel board.
Re 64 bit, Creative are alpha testing 64 bit drivers now.
Re Asus should be ok, if anything Asus are suseptable to power problems.
Re RAM definitly not the problem
Re VIA not likely but possible

• Audigy 2 Platinum driver corrupti

Before I get into the problem let me give some info on my system.
Audigy 2 platinum
Asus A7V333 mobo (revision A)
Athlon 800+ proc
Windows XP pro
Long story short the drivers seemed to have inexplicably bailed on me. I boot up two days ago and all games give errors that audio drivers are not detected. I get system sounds, but nothing else.
dxdiag gives the following errors:
-Sound tests: DirectSound test results: Failure at step 3 (DirectSoundCreate): HRESULT = 0x88780078 (No driver)
-Music tests: DirectMusic test results: Failure at step 6 (Activating the IDirectMusicPort): HRESULT = 0x88780078 (No driver)
I ran the bundled diagnostic utility as well and recieved the following:
Hardware detection: Pass
Wave Driver: Fail
MIDI Driver: Fail
Mixer Driver: Fail
DirectSound 3D Driver: Pass
Registry: Pass
Mixer Settings Check: Fail
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers from the retail CD. Same situation with the retail drivers. I also updated via the Creative software update and no change. (I really wish there was an up to date driver package instead of updates)
I did not make any recent hardware or software changes, and other than this problem, everything else with the system is fine.
Unless anyone has any suggestions, my next step is to uninstall the drivers again, as well as completely remove it from the registry. However I doubt this will help much. The last time I had an issue with these drivers (consistent .dll errors) nothing short of a full system reinstall fixed it.
Any suggestions?

• Audigy 2 Platinum Weird Prob

Hi
I have recently bought an Audigy 2 Platinum soundcard. After installing the card and software I have a strange problem. When I boot up the computer I have no sound, but then if I go to the Creative Volume Control icon in my taskbar, then click on Speaker Settings, then click on Channel in the speaker test panel, I get a sound check through my speakers and adter that all sound works fine. It's a bit of a pain having to do this everytime I boot up so what is causing it not to work properly at boot up. I am running Windows XP SP2 and when I try to update my drivers from the Creative web site I get a message saying something about not being able to continue as some components are missing. Thank you.
Ian

I have an Audigy 2 Platinum running under WIN2000 sp 3., only I was getting sound at the front panel off the headphone jack, but none out the card at the back. I have tried uninstalling everything and moving the card around, changing PCI slots, and I still get sound from the front panel but not from the back. all the apps work well but only by the front. I installed Creative diagnostics and everything passes.
Could you help me
