Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro External IO Box prob

I am unable to get the earphone or mic ports to work at all on the external IO box. The power light is on and is strong. The CMSS button seems to not do anything and the remote does not do anything as well. I have a 480W PS so it should have plenty of power. I just want to use the external mic and headphoe jack. Does anyone have an suggestions on what I can do to get the external box to function?

even i had the same problem, but i found that the AD_LINK connector was not properly connected to the soundcard. It may seem to get connected but even with a slight pull it comes out. The cabinet metal strips at the back obstruct the connector and it doesnt get connected properly.wat i did was, before installing the CARD on to the slot, i connected the AD_LINK first and then put it in the slot.
This problem generally doesnt occur with the FIREWIRE connector as theres plenty of room above and below the connetor. and so ur IO Box is Powering UP but fails to communicate with the sound card.

    > Hi,
i run an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro on my Desktop. Now i'm thinking about buying the Audigy 2 ZS Notebook for my ThinkPad to be more flexible. Is it possible to run the Break-Out-Box from my Platinum Pro with the Audigy 2 ZS Notebook. On photos i've seen something like an Ad-Link cable for the Audigy 2 ZS Notebook.
I run Ubuntu Studio on both, my desktop and my notebook.

    I found something here:
    http://alsa.opensrc.org/Emu10k1#Infrare … digy_4_pro.
    But it is obsolete.
They suggest editing /etc/modules.conf but in kernel 2.6.x /etc/modules.conf doesn't exist anymore and simply
that option doesn't work in /etc/modprobe.conf
    any idea?
    Thanks

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro - External I/O Hub alternativ

I just bought a used Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro as stand-alone,meaning no HUB.
I couldn't care less about the HUB,because I would be using it only with headphones for games. That is until I found out it has NO MIC jack on the PCI board!!
Apart from being puzzled to why Creative would skip putting a MIC jack on the board I've being trying to find out which alternati'ves (if there are any) I could use.
There are some I/O dri'ves (Front Panels) I could buy, but im uncertain to if AD-Link cables are same form factor. This particular board uses two: AD_Link and AD_Link2, altought the second one is a straight firewire cable.
X-Fi I/O Console Upgrade Kit:would this one (it has an AD-Link cable) work?
    http://www.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=&subcategory=6&product=47&nav =2
    Any other alternati'ves?
At the moment I have this one for output and using Onboard Card for MIC but would rather use one card only.
    Ty in advance.

Thats simple: I bought it on Ebay.
The thing is: I cant blame the seller because he clearly stated it was a "stand-alone".
But I never heard of a sound-board which didn't have any "IN" jacks on itself. That is:until now.Always thought front-panels and hubs were add-ons...
This particular one only has 3 jacks for output. On a card supposedly to be the best of the ZS series its particularly weird.
I have been using 2 sounds cards without any issues so I guess this is the "best" solution.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro External I/O

    Hello,
I have a problem connecting my I/O Hub to my pc i put the leads in the right places but the hub has no power, any suggestions?
by the way here is a pic of the set:
    http://reviews.zdnet.co.uk/i/z/rv/2004/03/audigy2-zsp-i.gif
    any help is appriciated

If you look at the picture you posted, there's a 4 pin white connector at the top corner of the soundcard. You will need to connect a 4 pin power supply to the card in order for it to power up the external I/O.

  • Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro, External hub is without power

This might be a tough one...
I'm hooking up my external hub for the first time since I've purchased the card (over .5 years ago). I've got the two huge cables (bound together) coming from my sound card to the external hub and, naturally, the black, green and orange cables coming from the sound card on into my S750 sub.
Am I missing some other cable that powers the external hub? Is it broken if I'm certain I have it connected properly, otherwise?
I'm pretty sure I've got the right sound card drivers (got them directly off the Creative website--lost my driver CD)... does this look right? (http://www.dieirl.com/temp/soundcard.jpg)

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum pro with RM-1500 prob

Doesnt work. When i first got the card the remote worked fine. It's been a while since and i'd like to use the remote again. I instaled the drivers that were on the CD, the remote didnt respond. Downloaded the newest drivers from the download site, installed them and the remote still doesnt work.
    Some info:
    the remote is RM-500,
theres that 5'25 dri've unit with the IR window on it,
i checked the MEdia Source remote section, the remote is enabled, correct type selected (RM-500)
the remote it self appears to be working (i checked it with a webcam, the diode on top flashes when i press buttons on it)
all the cables are connected to the 5.25 bay unit (the optical out glows red, im using it at the moment)
i also tried the third party softwar (uICE), it fails to see any response from the remote.
i have no indicator light on the bay dri've to see if the signal is being recieved or not.
the card it self works fine in other ways, ie i have no noises from it or any problems.
i just suspect that the remote reciever is toast somehow.
    any ideas? thanks!

I would like to add my two cents to this. I had an RM-500 which stopped working after a while. My MCE IR receiver seemed to pick up an infra-red signal from the thing but the dri've bay didn't respond.
I then tried an older RM-900 from an old Audigy installation and that worked perfectly with the dri've bay. So in my case, the RM-500 was dead ( the battery was ok ).

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro + Xbox 360

    #Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro + Xbox 360? My xbox360 audio setup:
Xbox360 - Optical audio out - Dolby Digital 5. / Dolby Digital with WMA / Digital Stereo
Cable - Meter Fiber Optic cable audio Cable
Input - SPDIF/Optical-IN on Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro External Dri've
    Decoder - Creative Built-in Dolby Digital/DTS SPDIF-In Decode @ 48/96KHz
    Speakers - Creative Inspire T7700 7.
OS: Windows XP/Vista with Latest Creative drivers.
    Concern:
1 - Whenever Xbox starts up - i have to remove the cable and replug it in for the sound to start coming.
2 - If i play any video or movie - there is no audio heard and after the movie ends - i have to reconnect the audio cable for the system sounds to return. (this does not apply to in-game FMV)
3 - Sound breaks and cracks in some games during multiple loud audio scenes. Such as in Forza3 - a car crash would cause cracking/breaking sound.
Overall most games run fine - I just dont know why no audio is heard when a movie is played! I've tried all different audio setups on the 360 but nothing works (WMA makes cracking worse)
    Whats the cause and cure?

    Problem solved.

  • Analog inputs no longer working on Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro's external dr

I have an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro. After two years of use without problems, the analog inputs on the external dri've have stopped working. I get no signal from them, not even noise. All 3 inputs are silent, Line in / Mic and Line 2 in the front, and Line 3 in the back. Otherwise the dri've appears to function normally - I get output from the headphone jack, and the volume control knob works. I have not tested digital inputs or outputs, as I currently have no digital devices to connect to them.
I had made no major changes to my computer - software or hardware - when the problems began. I recently added a new SATA hard dri've, but the Audigy dri've did work after that.
I've taken steps suggested in another thread on this forum and uninstalled all Creative software and drivers, used the latest driver package's uninstall program as well as Driver Cleaner, and finally manually deleted everything related to Creative and Audigy from the system registry (and rebooted quite a few times in between). I then installed the original drivers from the CD that came with the sound card (a setup that has worked before), but still the problem persists.
Any ideas on where to even begin looking for a solution? I find it hard to believe that it's a hardware problem, since three inputs suddenly went silent at the same time, and no other connections were affected. Yet I've done as clean a reinstall as possible, and that hasn't solved the problem.
    My current computer configuration:
OS: Windows XP Pro (SP2 and all latest updates)
    CPU: Athlon XP 500+
    RAM: 2x 52 MB
Motherboard: Abit AN7 (integrated sound chip disabled)
Video card: Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro
    Network card: D-Link DFE-530TX
    Hard dri've : Seagate ST320026A, 20 GB IDE
    Hard dri've 2: Maxtor 6L080J4, 80 GB IDE
    Hard dri've 3: Seagate ST330083, 300 GB SATA-II

I don't have a Platinum Pro or the dri've, but a general hardware troubleshooting step I would take would be to remove the soundcard and either move it to another slot or re-seat it. Also, I'd disconnnect and reconnect all cables to and from the card and the dri've. If I had another machine I could try the card or dri've in, I'd do that. If I could borrow another dri've or even another card, I'd test those too. (Swapping parts is often the simplest diagnostic.) Yeah, maybe it's not a hardware problem, but I'd take these steps just to rule out some possibilities.
Edit: And if you can remove or disconnect the SATA dri've and restore the system to the condition before you installed it, that's another good test.Message Edited by Katman on 2-8-2005 2:56 AM

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro- Breakout Box/ AD_LINK Cable Broke

I purchased an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro from Creative's eBay store this past January. It was described as refurbished with a -year warranty. It worked fine for several months under both Windows XP 64-bit and Linux (amd64 arch). Then, the breakout box just stopped working. At first I thought it was a driver issue, so I tried reinstalling everything- no luck. Then I realized that not even the power light came on on the box. I tried putting the card in another PCI slot, rearranging cables.
I contacted Creative several months ago and after several email arguments and hour-long phone calls, I gave up. They insisted that they only offer 90-day warranties for their ebay auctions... Being so much later, the ebay auction link was dead- no way for me to prove anything. Creative's best offer was to RMA it for $0+shipping or something ridiculous like that.
I don't want to buy a whole new card because I now it works to some extent- it shows up under 'lspci' in Linux and in Windows Device manager. I suspect it is either the cable or the breakout box but I really have no idea.
Any way I could test this- and even if, how can I purchase just the box or the cable by themselves- I couldn't find anything online.
Any ideas?Message Edited by phoneloserchi on 2-22-20072:28 PM

No, I'm afraid it is not, the X-Fi does not have the same connector for that breakout box.

  • Help Needed : Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro Hub doesn't w

    Hi all,
I got a wierd problem with my SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro. The external Hub is VERY unstable, I mean that I own my SB card for two weeks now and I have the following behaviour:
    * Midi IN on external HUb doesn't works. "SB Audigy 2 ZS MIDI IO 2" is not visible on all MIDI applications (but "SB Audigy 2 ZS" yes!)
    * CMSS light on external Hub doesn't turn green when I turn CMSS on
    * OSD doesn't show and sound volume does not change when I change volume from the external Hub button.
    * Remote control doesn't works but red light flash on the external Hub when I press a button on the remote control.
    * FYI the optical out is always red which seems to say that the optical out is working correctly (but I haven't tested it because I have nothing to connect on it)
For complexifying the problem I succeed in making all this stuff works only TWO times (in tow weeks) by reinstalling drivers and NOT restarting the computer. In this configuration, all the previous points works. I means that I can connect my midi keyboard to the Hub and play music thought the MIDI IO (and "SB Audigy 2 ZS MIDI IO 2" is available when everything works), I can use the remote control, OSD is showing etc ...
I have really no idea why it was working only two times during these two weeks and I reinstalled the drivers and all softwares at least 5 times, rebooted the PC 30 times, etc ...
Does anybody encoutered and solved the same problem ? Does my Hub must be changed.
For your information, I have checked the internal configuration of my soundcard and everything seems to be correctly connected (including alim). I have also connected correctly the Two AD_Link cables. I have Windows XP SP2 on Intel 3Ghz with GB memory on Soltek QBIC system. No antivirus loaded.
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance.
    UPDATE :
I had the support by phone yesterday and for the moment they have no explanation on what's going on ! I will try to phone again to the support tomorrow for advancing. For information they proposed me to do the following tests:
    - Does the optical out light is red when my hub doesn't work - the response is yes
2- Does I have installed correctly the Hub alim - the response is yes
3- Does I have installed correctly the connection cables between hub and card - The response is yes
For information my analysis is that is doesn't comes from the software as when the hub work the CMSS light turn green during the boot of windows XP, moreover in computer science the behavious is most of the time reproductible. So from my mind it could comes from the following point:
a- PC Alim not powerful enouth
    b- bad connection cables
c- hub is not working and need to be changed

    Jminardi,
I think I am in agreement with conclusion b or c. Although there are a couple things to check, first off go to Device Manager and go to view/resources by type. In here look and see what the IRQ assigned to the Audigy 2 ZS is and see if it is sharing with anything important like the video card. If so you might try another PCI slot just to sure there aren't difficulties caused by this. If everything checks out you might want to call tech support back and try to arrange a repair on the external box and cables.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro - Record from S/PDIF

I have an Audigy 2 ZS platinum pro. This is on a newly built computer (I purchased all components including the sound card and built it last week.) The problem I am having is when attempting to record in from the S/PDIF In input.
I have a video capture card in the same computer, using Cyberlink's PowerVCR II software. I have an external DVD player connected to the S-Video input on the back of the Video Capture card, and the audio connected via Co-axial cable to the S/PDIF In connection on the Audigy break out box.
Using the Creative Media Center or my Cyberlink PowerVCR II I am able to hear the audio in on the S/PDIF when playing a DVD. However, when I attempt to record the DVD Video and Audio it is not recording the Audio. I hear it playing as the DVD plays, but when playing back the record mpeg there is no audio.
I have used Adobe Audition to import the mpegs and there is no audio wav form in the mpeg.
I played with the settings for 3 or 4 days and finally got this working. The problem is I installed another video codec after I had it working for a few days, and this video codec crashed my Adobe Premiere Pro, I had to do a system restore to point prior to installing the new codec. This worked to fix my Premiere issue, but it reset the settings on my Audigy card and now the S/PDIF In does not record anymore.
I have played with all of the settings in the Creative AudioHQ Device Controls settings, tried different digital input settings and sampling rates. I have tried using the "What you Hear" selection as the recording device, however I get the same results: I can hear the S/PDIF audio input but the system is not recording it.
I went through and downloaded all updates from Creative and have installed them all, however I am still having the issue.

    Problem solved.

  • Home studio - Having Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro do I need a mixer for professional recordi

<SPAN class=postbody>Hi, I've got Shure PG 58 (dynamic mic) and Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro. Is there any sense to buy any mixer or preamp to make the quality better? Do I feel a difference using mixer/preamp ? I really don't know what is the role of the external box of AUDIGY 2 PLATINUM PRO (is it a substitute of mixer/preamp ?) Thank you in advance skorp

it depends on who you ask, but the preferable way for most people is to use a high quality outboard mic preamp and send that into the line in. This is because the mic preamps in most consumer cards are considered cheesy. So boosting the mic up with a preamp gives you the advantage of being able to use the line input with your mic which is generally better quality sound.
As i said tho, it depends on who you ask. I have a shure Beta 57 which is an industry standard for pro sound microphones. Not a $5000 recording mic. But a very good general purpose mic. I go into the audigy 2ZS's mic input. However, to do so you need a impedence transformer (about $20) and you need to wire a stereo mini plug so that it bypasses the power that the jack supplies for PC mics which require it. In any case, i do this because i'm not a subscriber to the "use a preamp into the line in" club. Yes, it will produce better tone, but the question is how much better and how much of that improvment will actually make it to your ear? Personally i have tried both ways and find the difference tobe negligable. I'm sure that could change to some extent with a different card or mic or some other difference. But for me with an audigy 2 and the shure mic with an impedence transformer i get what i feel is very good sound the way i do it. So i really don't care what some may say. (many will insist you're stupid for doing it any other way than a preamp) I've been a musician for over 3 decades now and i know the difference between good and bad sound. And what i get from this setup is very good sound to my ear. Maybe not the best, but it's no slouch !
By the way, the creative box as far as the inputs is just basically an extention of the rear panel to make for the convenience of having your connections up front.

i have a Creative Labs Audigy 2 Zs Platinum pro (the one with the external box).
How do i go about getting sound coming from the PS2 to go through my sound card, and out the speakers. Im trying to use the optical output from the ps2, to the optical input on the external box from my sound card.
Where is the setting to make this happen...i've read over some of the post regarding this on here...but still really confused
