Audigy 2 ZS Platnium digital feedback during rec

I am recieving a digital distortion from the sound card when recording into Sony Vegas Video software. This doesn't happen all the time. I can push the arm rec. button and the rec. buttons on and off and kind of trick it into recording clean and with no distortion . As you can imagine this gets very agrovaiting. I am working on a Sony VIAO desktop media box. It runs on Window's XP with a 2.6 Ghz prossesor and 52 Mbs of RAM. I also am not able to achieve the 24bit sampling. I can record at 48khz. I hope this is all you need from me. Thanks

  • Audigy 2 ZS platnium pro not working!!!!! plz h

i recently installed a Audigy 2 zs Platnium pro and the test run fine i've reinstalled drivers re plugged in card power nothing work the external hub also seems unresponsi've except the power light;.....

    Lamagraa,
Does the sound card itself work correctly or is it also giving you difficulties? If the only problem you are experiencing is with the external dri've bay it may in fact be defecti've. With everything that you have tried there is not a whole lot to suggest to try. If you are having trouble with the card also you might try moving the card to a different PCI slot to see if that hel
    ps.
Otherwise I would contact Technical Support to arrange a repair for the external dri've bay. Here is their contact page: http://us.creative.com/support/custsup

  • Audigy 4 = Still no digital surround output for games? *si

C'mon guys. How long is it gonna take for you to add digital surround encoding, so we can plug a single digital cable from the sound card to a home receiver's Dolby Digital/DTS input? Before you reply and say that the current Audigy's already do this for DVDs and games with AC-3 sound, let me say that I am not talking about that. Nearly all games on the market have 4+ channels of sound (and are not DVD/AC-3 games) and there still isn't a sound card on the market that puts out a digital encoding of this multi-channel sound. The only solution that did this is the now discontinued nVidia Soundstorm on their AMD nForce 2 chipsets.
The only possible reasons I can think of are:
) Licensing fees from Dolby labs to encode content are cost-prohibiti've
    2) The CPU overhead to encode everything in AC-3 would be high enough to have an adverse effect on games' framerate
    3) No company thinks there is enough of a demand to engineer such an option.
Can we get a comment from Creative Labs, other than "there are no plans to implement this in the foreseeable future" =)
Having said this, I still like the Audigy sound cards, but I think this added feature would appeal to a larger audience than you might realize. At the very least, you could post a poll or do some online research in the enthusiast community to gauge possible demand.
    Thanks

    Bollwerk,
I will pass your suggestions on to our suggestion group.
Do take into account that currently real time Dolby Digital encoding results in a lower sound quality than what we currently are producing on our Audigy 2 ZS and Audigy 4 Pro cards from our analog outputs. The signal that is produced by the onboard sound cards that do this encoding is encoded at a quality that is below the standard quality found on DVD movies and Games that incorporate Dolby Digital content. This also does result in a higher taxing of the processor which then results in more potential for slower performance in games.

  • SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro stutter during DVD playb

I've just recently installed the SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro into my PVR. I am connecting to my stereo system via the SPDIF connector using a coax cable. I've set, via AudioHQ, to pass through any Dobly Digital and DTS signals to my amp therefore the Audigy card is doing no decoding of any kind for digital signals.
The player I'm using is the latest VideoLAN player available (v0.8.4a) and have also set the player to use SPDIF output. When I try to playback my DVD's using VLC, the audio stutters constantly. I know it's not a DVD problem because when I switch the player back to normal stereo, the audio comes through fine.
My amp also detects the signal properly as it goes from Dolby Pro Logic to either Dolby Digital or DTS depending on which audio track I use from the DVD.
My system has a P4 3.0GHz CPU, GB RAM, 200GB HD (partitioned 0GB for OS, ~80GB for PVR recording, 0GB swap), with XP SP2. My swap is system managed and the OS has set it to ~.5GB.
Has anyone experienced the same or similar problem? Any help would be appreciated as I've banged my head against the wall all weekend long trying to figure this out.
    TIA...

    I have absolutely same problem.
    I use Audigy 2 Platinum.

  • Digital Garbage during scenes with movement

I am exporting QT from Avid Express that plays beautifully in the QT application, but looks bad when I burned it to a DVD.
more specifically, during video playdown in a scene where there is a lot of movement [ie someone dribbles by someone else], i get these awful looking digital lines horizontally across the screen. there's one white flash in the video that looks really bad too.
    what i've tried so far:
I exported a QT movie, using DV/DVC Pro NTSC setting
I let Studio Pro compress them, encoded them at 6 bit rate [7 max], One Pass VBR, "Best" motion estimation
burned a disc, looked like @%&*
    ---next---
tried compressing them using compressor [90min, best, 4:3]
turned my encoding settings up to 7 bit rate and 8.5 max bit rate
    changed mode to "Two Pass"
imported them, burned a disc, looked a little better, still @%&*ty
    ---then---
tried exporting from the avid as a QT movie, "animation" setting
compressor set at 90min, best, 4:3
    kept everything the same
without burning a disk, just watching it in the viewer, i can see that there are still lines in those areas
    any ideas?
is it my export setting? should i be using QT reference?

Are these lines all horizontal, lots of them and mostly visible around the edges of objects? If so, these are most likely to be interlacing artefacts. You could run a de-flicker filter or a de-interlacer to help reduce these... watch the same footage on a TV and you won't notice them - they appear on a computer monitor because there are no fields or interlacing there.
If you still see them on a TV monitor then it is likely to be something else...

  • Audigy 2 ZS Notebook - Digital Out Greyed

I just purchased a Toslink to minijack connector to hook my Audigy 2 ZS up to my Denon 3808CI. I have hooked up the optical cable to my Denon and have no problems getting sound thru the speakers. The issue is that I cannot select the "Digital output" in the THX Setup Console, it can only be set to Analog which doesn't even allow me to get 2. audio, only 2.0.
I have the most updated drivers installed and the Creative Feature Mode is set to "Advanced". I have tried everything to get the optical output box to be selectable but nothing has worked.
Does anyone know how to fix this, it is really bugging me out? Thanks!

Did you set the encoding to be done by an?external device and also try by enabling the bit-accurate playback?jutapaMessage Edited by jutapa on 02-02-20080:0 PM

  • Audigy 2 ZS and Digital I/O module compatibili

Hi,?Looking to build a HTPC and thinking about using the Audigy 2 ZS as my sound card. I have a question about it though. Accourding to this- - http://us.creative.com/local//produc...es/sbchart.asp?the Digital I/O module is not compatible with the 2 ZS. I downloaded the manual for the Audigy 2 ZS and it says to use a 3.50 mm (/8-inch) mono-to-RCA cable and I cannot find one of those anywhere, and it appears to me that the Digital I/O module does basically the same thing. So will the Digital I/O work with the 2 ZS or does anyone know where I can get that 3.5 mm mono to RCA cable, it has to be a coaxil digital cable though.
My goal is to have Dolby Digital sound just my my DVD player I have now only with my PC so I can have one media hub, my HTPC. Also if anyone has built a HTPC and has a good setup please reccomend Im open to all suggestions,? Thanks for anyhelp at all.

    sprint_9,
Yes, you're right. The Digital I/O module isn't compatible with the Audigy 2 ZS soundcard.
You should be able to find a 3.5mm mono to RCA cable easily from your local audio/electronic stores if not, you can also get a 3.5mm stereo to dual RCA cable for the same purpose. Take note, only one end of the RCA cable has the audio signal(Sorry, can't remember whether it's the white or the red end).
You can also find such cable from online stores like this.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Pro digital output and Windows XP Pro

Recently "upgraded" my system to Windows XP Pro X64. My soundcard, an Audigy 2 ZS Pro, connects to my logitech 5. digital speakers via the front coaxial connector, no longer seems to output digital signal. The speakers indicate that there is no signal from the coaxial connection. I can hear sound from headphone through the analog output though.
Before the upgrade, I had everything working, but I don't remember all the details I went through to get it to work.
I have installed latest driver for Windows XP X64 from Creative, and I have modified the setting to bypass onboard decoding. Is there anything else I need to do? Online documentation talks about applications that I don't seem to have. Is there a X64-compatible application I need to run to get this to work? Thanks.
    George

Okay Robert, I downloaded and installed your 6.25 drivers and they work fine. However, the Audigy 4 pro software, http://files.filefront.com/Pax+Audig.../fileinfo.html, does not install anything but drivers, no software applications. I looked on your board and could not find any definati've method for resolving this problem.
Perhaps you or someone else who is familiar with installing the software apps would care to provide a detailed solution.

  • Audigy 2 ZS and digital I/O mod

Device manager states I have an Audigy 2 ZS, I'm running windows XP SP2. It has the digital jack on the top of it, and I purchased the "Digital I/O" module because it had an optical adapter on it. It's currently on my media center and I'm trying to get it connected to my surround sound. I've read a few threads about enabling the digital out only on the windows settings and I've done so. I still don't see any light coming through the cable.
Is the Audigy 2 ZS not compatible with the digital i/o module? If not then why did I pay so much for an audigy 2 / why is there a digital out on it / how am I supposed to get an optical signal from it's Thanks in advance guys!

  • Audigy 2 ZS & Hoontech Digital Brac

    Hello Guys,
a long time ago i bought a small extension for my Sb Li've! from Hoontech, that allows me to get all channel-pairs (center, front, rear) seperate on digital outputs (to connect my 3 Soundworks Digital digital to the different channels)
it has to be connected to the spdif-io pins
i could use this bracket with my audigy player too, but i'm not sure i can use it with my audigy 2 zs.
    could u help me?!
    thx

The SBLi've cards and original SBAudigy, except for the first SBLi've Value model, used the "AUD_EXT" connector on the card. The Value card had 2 connectors with fewer signals total and the S/PDIF connectors were concentrated in one of the connectors. Starting with the SBAudigy2, the AUD_EXT connector was changed to the "AD_EXT" connector, which is is not the same. You can find the AUD_EXT pinouts by searching the CL Knowledge Base for "pinout" but CL has not released AD_EXT details. Hoontech extension cards had cables for the SBLi've and SBLi've Value connectors.
The AD_EXT has been reverse engineered and if you do a web search for "ad_ext.jpg" you can probably find it. Obviously, you're going to be on your own if you try to use that kind of information.
I'd probably buy a Digital Out Jack to Digital DIN adapter cable from CL as a spare part, and adapt that. You'll find the Digital Out Jack details in the same Knowledge Base article as the AUD_EXT pinouts.

  • Audigy 2 ZS with Digital Optical I/O C

I got the Audigy 2 ZS with my Dell Dimension XPS. I was hoping the Optical Digital I/O card and module I had from my Li've X-Gamer would work with this card as it has the same expansion connector, but I do not get a signal from the I/O module. Is this supposed to work or am I wasting my time?
If this is not supposed to work, is there another method for getting optical out of this board? If my only option is to pick up a Platinum Dri've, I guess I'll do that, but I don't like the idea of permanent cables hanging out of the front of my PC. I have read the posts for getting coax digital, but I am kind of stuck with optical because I have no coax inputs left on my receiver and I have a long cable run from the PC to the receiver.
Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

    NickSchaf wrote:
Thanks Jason. I looked through the store selection, but did not notice any back-panel option for connecting optical (like the Optical Digital I/O card gave me on the Li've series). Is there such an device available or in the works? Or is my only option to use the dri've bay?
I have been using audigy 2 zs for quite some time also and I don't remember they have any addon optical card for this sound card. Guess you have to go for the external bay.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Gamer Crackle/Stutter During Gamep

    Current System Configuration
    -Intel P4 3E 3.0GHz 800MHz FSB MB L2 Cache
    -MSI PT880 NEO FSR
    -Samsung 52MB DDR400 (X2)
    -Radeon 9550 256MB DDR AGP 8X
    -Sony DL DVD+-R/W
-Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Gamer (sitting on desk next to computer)
    -Windows XP Home w/ SP2
So I just dropped $40.00 on an Audigy 2 ZS Gamer LE. It took all of 30 seconds of Half-Life 2 to show me that the crappy onboard 5. audio performed better during gameplay. I found this a bit odd being that the word "Gamer" is actually in the name of this soundcard. Granted the word is only there to coincide with the software package included with the card, but if it comes with games you'd think it would work well in games. Anyway...While playing any game, there is constant (and very LOUD) crackling in the audio and at points it will actually cause the game itself to stutter. The problem is intolerable.
    So far I have tried:
Using Different Speakers....didn't work (way to easy of a solution anyway)
Verifying onboard audio is disabled....didn't work (like I'd leave it enabled)
    Updating Creative's drivers/softare....didn't work
    Updating MB drivers/software....didn't work
    Updating MB BIOS....didn't work
Changing PCI slot....didn't work (IRQ wasn't shared with AGP in the first place)
    Changing PCI Latency....didn't work
Wiped Creative drivers completely and installed KX drivers....didn't work (although crackle wasn't as loud, the stuttering was worse)
Verifying DMA Settings....didn't work (DMA Mode was acti've for all dri'ves already)
The only thing I haven't done at this point is a complete reformat and reinstall. I apologize to the boys and girls at Creative, but there is no way they can convince me to go through the trouble of backing up gigs and gigs of data and reinstalling Windows just to get a soundcard to work. That isn't an option I'll even consider unless they can guarantee that my card will work afterwards. Since it didn't help about 90% of the people I've seen posting on this board that have encountered this same problem, I can't even believe it's still being offered as troubleshooting advice.
I've read posts concerning an inherent problem when using this Creative card and a motherboard with a VIA chipset. I don't honestly know what's true and what isn't. I've been considering upgrading my mobo anyway, so my questions to all the other members with this card and to the mods are these:
Is there an issue when using the Audigy 2 or any other Creative card on a motherboard with a VIA chipset (Specifically PT880/VT8237)? Straight up yes or no.
If so, what socket 478 motherboards are KNOWN to work with the Audigy 2 without the need for hours of configuration or 3rd party drivers?
Has anyone with a system similar to mine ever gotten an Audigy 2 ZS to work straight out of the box without any problems?
If so, what is your setup and what motherboard are you using?
Any help or straight answers would be greatly appreciated.

I have done everything listed in that link.
I am a typical PC enthusiast. Have been enjoying Creative cards since SB 8bit packaged with a Hayes 2400baud. They have been deserving of requiring other cards to be 'SB Compatible' up until the Audigy series. However of late, Audigy has been quite terrible for me.
I use these motherboards, chipsets, processors and memory modules: Asus A8N, Asus A8V, Epox 8rda, Epox 8rda3+, MSI A64 Neo2 Platinum. They either have nForce2, 3 or VIA. Mostly nForce, I've had quite a few memory compatibility issues since PC2700+ with VIA, but that's another story. I use AMD Athlon and A64 processors in the range of XP2500~XP3200, and one A64 3500 939. I use Corsair XMS 3200 series memory as it's affordable enough for me and have had no track record of compatibility problems. I also use Samsung in one machine.

I have sufficient cooling. I have an aluminum TT XaserIII and all fans working properly, with a planned airflow. CPU temperatures rarely exceed 0F at full load with overclocking using a TTV at full speed (ears ring when I shut down). I do not currently overclock since purchasing the Audigy 2 ZS, and it is running 90F to the CPU, 50F inside the case (cold up here). Internal temperature rarely exceeds 60F otherwise. I have a Zalman heatpipe w/ fan on my vid card that pushes air down with a PCI slot fan to suck it out to avoid heat anywhere near the A2ZS. fans total, no leds, 480W Antec to power it sufficiently.
    -- The problem:
As the original poster suggested, I am also experiencing an audio artifacting that resembles an electrical crackling or popping during playing 3d games. I play Lineage 2, Half-Life 2, Half-Life , Battlefield 942, Call of Duty, Unreal Tournament 2004, etc.
It is most reproducable when I pan my view quickly. It seems that when I stress the general bandwidth of the system while panning my view in 3d, I receive a studder visually as well as an audio crackle or pop. They are present together each time and last for a fraction of a second and happen continually through the entire game. The volume of the crackle/pop is loud, and I am concerned I am destroying my speakers and headphones. It is not something that can be ignored and it ruins my experience in games. It is more present when my FPS is lower and the system is under more stress. I use DirectX and OpenGL alike, both produce this problem during gameplay.
This problem is identical in visual appearance and sound through the speakers (or far worse, headphones) across the 4 motherboards, 4 processor variations (but same brand) and 2 memory types. All systems use Windows 2000 Pro, latest everything across the board (no, I didn't forget anything, really). On all of the systems, this problem is not present if I use a SB Li've 5., nor Turtle Beach Santa Cruz, nor using Onboard sound on any of the motherboards listed. I do notice visual studder on all of the said systems in one place or another in games but the accompanied popping and crackling is not present on any of the other audio cards.
This problem is exclusi've to the Audigy, Audigy 2 and Audigy 2 ZS series.

    General Tips--
My A2 has always existed in the last 3 PCI slots, farthest away from the AGP/Mem banks/CPU slot.</LI>
The Audigy 2 has IRQ 6 or 8 in any of the systems, and is never sharing with anything.</LI>
I have no hardware components in my system that are unused. I have HD, CDROM, Video Card, Sound Card, everything else is disabled or not present in the system.</LI>
My cables have been tidied and fastened to the frame of the case, away from the CPU, memory and video card. There is nearly 8" between the SB Audigy 2 and anything else. No wires come near it.</LI>
I used the audio drivers off the CDROM to install initially. I have since been to the auto-update portion of the website and updated EAX Console and EAX Advanced HD. It claims I am up to date. A2 listed in Device Manager shows a Driver Version 5.2..442, Provider is Creative</LI>
I have installed all latest drivers.</LI>
    Toggle DMA Access--
This is complete. I have always had audio issues when the CDROM was in use with PIO. This is DMA if Available.</LI>
Reduce Hardware Acceleration of the graphics card--
I have lowered this down to the point my games will no longer start. Pushing this down ,2 or 3 notches reduces the audio clicking volume a tad but otherwise appears to only encourage a lower volume popping to happen more often. It does not remove the problem, it creates a different problem. More frequent and lower volume popping.</LI>
    SB 6 Emu/Legacy Device--
    Does not apply to me.</LI>
    Changing ACPI in Windows 2000--
I am not having resource conflicts, I will not be disabling this. </LI>

All options listed to be disabled are either disabled or not present on my BIOS. </LI>
System performance is set to optimal. Turbo produces instability issues, especially if CPU Interface is set to Aggressi've. </LI>

    AGP Fast Writes -- Enabled.</LI>
BIOS is latest version. Not that it helped anything but memory compatibility with a brand I don't use anyhow.</LI>
    -- Solution?
I would like to say it is my configuration or an incompatibility with any one system I have, but it persists across too many combinations for this to be a problem with other hardware to me. What other things can I try to resolve this issue? I would like to use the A2, it produces excellent sound outside 3D games, far better than other cards I use as well as onboard by far. But all the sound quality in the world otherwise is meaningless if I cannot play games without destroying my speakers and headphones as well as my gaming experience.

  • Audigy LS line in digital out no so

I have an Audigy LS card. I have my Playstation 2 running into my line in. RCA to 3.5mm connector. I have digital output turned out to make my speakers work. My speakers work fine when playing and audio on my pc. However the audio from the ps2 does not come out of the speakers. If i turn digital output off, the ps2 audio plays fine out of my headphones. Is there any solution to make the ps2 audio come out of my regular speakers ? or would i need to purchase either a card with a digital in, or speakers that are not digital ? Help is much appreciated I'm about to smash things.....

Then, as has been said already, it appears it's a hardware defect. This might be a workaround, if you're up to it, and if that part of the input circuit isn't damaged. That last is a big if, so if it were me, I'd jumper a connection and try it before going to a lot of trouble. There's also an AUX input on the card, although I don't know what the input specs are for that. It's meant to connect to the analog output of a CD-ROM, so it won't work for a mic directly connected, but it might take line-level from an external device.

The speaker test works fine, I only have a 2. setup, and Digital output is disabled. I have tried many different sources of microphones, amplified mics and tv and keyboard outputs into both the line in and microphone in the card and have got nothing from all these outputs on both inputs using various leads! I have also turned off EAX although this had made no difference.
