Audigy 2 ZS Rear Speaker Probl

? Im positi've I have my speakers hooked up right but whenever im playing a game, Team Fortress 2 for example, when im facing the action I can hear everything fine, but when I turn around I hear no sound. Also the I tested my speakers on the Counter Strike Source speaker test thing and I failed to hear any audio from my center and rear speakers, my front speakers worked fine. I have the Creative audio console and windows control panel set to 5. surrond sound. I am also using the latest drivers. I tried the new beta drivers but I hear no sound when using those. By the way im using windows xp professional 32 bit. What do you suggest I do to fix this problem?

D3vL,
Yes that's normal for stereo stuff since they only have 2 channel without CMSS. It's just that Li've and Audigy 2 ZS is built a little differently.
With CMSS2, the sound effect on center and rear speaker maybe a little soft but you should have sound output also. Try adjusting the Stereo Focus slider and see if it makes any different. Since you are using the soundcard upmix feature, turn off the upmix feature(LED off) of the S750 on the control pod.

• A Challenge For You... (speaker probl

Greetings all,
I recently purchased an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro. Installation went smoothly, until I hooked up my recently purchased Logitech z-560 speaker system (4.). The sound is GREAT... as long as you don't mind no sound coming from the right front speaker. I'll run through each of the steps I took while trying to find the problem, and then leave it in the capable minds and hands of the members of this forum - I'm just out of ideas.
Speaker Setup:
Speaker/Headphone selection is currently 4/4. Speakers. I have tried this setting synchronized and unsynchronized with the Control Panel, with no change in the problem. (Note: The problem also exists when I set the speakers to 2/2. - right channel plays through the subwoofer)

Digital output is currently OFF. There are no digital connections on my system. For now.

The Speaker Test window only shows the 4 satellites. The subwoofer is missing from the test window. When I run a speaker test, I get the following results:

Left Front - OK

Right Front - nothing from the right front speaker, but the test IS PLAYED (barely audible) through the subwoofer (!).

Right Rear - OK

Left Rear - OK

No subwoofer test.

Speaker Calibration - same results as above. The raindrop sound effects come through the proper speakers EXCEPT the right front speaker, which instead plays through the subwoofer. The subwoofer itself is missing from the calibration screen.

Bass Management - all settings are grayed out.

Bass Boost - currently DISABLED. No change in problem when it was enabled.

Surround Mixer Settings:
Basic Settings unchanged. No change in problem when any levels were altered.

Advanced: Speaker volumes are all at max. No change in problem when altered.

Creative Diagnostics:
All initial diagnostic tests pass.

Speaker tests result the same as mentioned above.

THX Setup Console:
Speakers set to 4/4. analog output.

Calibration - same problem, but with an additional hitch... only the 4 satellites show up (no subwoofer) on the speaker test screen, with the Left Channel noise coming through clearly. WHEN I SWITCH to right channel, the message "processing" comes up on the screen, followed by "NA". Switching to the rear speakers works properly. A few other notes:

On volume balance adjustment, I have adjustments available for the front left & right and rear left & right speakers. The subwoofer is NOT greyed out, but the box to adjust the subwoofer level is greyed out.

Equalizer is currently DISABLED.
EAX Console:
Audio Effects are DISABLED. No change in problem when they were enabled.

Karaoke is DISABLED. No change in problem when enabled.

CMSS 3D is currently DISABLED. No change in problem when enabled, regardless of which setting I used.

Note: When testing the speakers, the CMSS 3D setting suddenly disables itself and reenables when the test is complete.

Audio Clean-Up is disabled. No change in problem when enabled.

Time Scaling is disabled. No change in problem when enabled.

Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro setup:
Card was installed and included drivers installed (5.2.6.402, dated Oct. 2003). Problem appeared. I downloaded and installed the latest drivers (.84.55, May 2005). No change in problem.

I did a "clean sweep" uninstallation following the steps provided on this forum, and reinstalled everything. No change in problem.

Logitech z-560 (THX-cert.) speaker setup:
I have tested all of the satellites and subwoofer separately to make sure they all work - they do.

Speaker wiring has been double & triple checked. No problems (beyond the one that this post deals with).

The subwoofer connects to a control box, which connects to the soundcard via a green & black cable. I have tried altering the cable connections to see what happens during speaker test. This may be totally useless, but here are the results:

Green Cable in Line (correct): Front Right speaker plays through subwoofer. Front Left OK.

Black Cable in Line 2 (correct): Both speakers work properly.

Green Cable in Line 2 (incorrect): Right Rear speaker plays through subwoofer. Left Rear OK.

Black Cable in Line (incorrect): Both speakers work properly.

M3D (phantom center channel) is disabled. When enabled, no change in problem.

Fade settings on control box make no change in problem.

Entire speaker system has been taken down and set up again. No change in problem.

I have done a pretty thorough search through the forums here at Creative and at Logitech as well, and have found no solution.
My sound is in your hands. I will place my system configuration info under my signature. Thank you in advance for all of your assistance.

Hmm, st 4. speakers do not have a dedicated subwoofer channel hence it does not show a subwoofer in the picture, with that said it is odd that the right channel only plays through the subwoofer. It is possible that there may be a jumper problem with the sound card, if there is a jumper area on the sound card that is for front panel headphone and mic connecters (for cases that have them). I'm not sure if audigys have them but I know onboard sound does, anyway there could be a jumper that fell out and could have caused the right channel to stop working to fix that just simply replace the jumper (could be any jumper). One way to tell for sure that its the sound card is to connect some headphones to the back and see if the problem is still there.

• Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS - Vista - speaker calibration etc

Hi,
I've searched but I can't find an obvious answer to what I suspect is a common question.
I've got an Audigy 2 ZS Pro which I've just installed using the drivers from the site. It's working ok but there is no applciation for set up of the speakers in a room - as there was in the original CD that I used with XP.
Can anyone help? Or am I just imagining that a utility did exist when I last installed this on an XP machine?
Thanks
PH

JRe: Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - Speaker issues not covered by FAQs0 I'm afriad that the CMSS3D option did not work? ? I still cannot get any speakers to play out of the rear of the soundcard.
As I said before, the goal is to try to get sound to play out of both the headset and the speakers attached to the rear of the soundcard simuntaneously.
The headset is plugged into one of those devices in the front that is in a 5 & /4" bay that has the individual knobs for adjusting volume for the headset and outbound levels for the microphone.
The speakers are plugged into the back of the soundcard and do not play any sound in any of the sockets, starting from the firewire port and counting 3 over.
Any suggestions? I? thought it might have something to do with the setting of the speakers from control panel - > Sounds and Audio Devices -> Advanced and picking the right choice there. No luck however. Same for the Creative Speaker Settings as well.
I'm at wits end and I'd be very thankful to whoever can resolve this for me. =)

• Audigy 2 ZS - Rear Speakers Aren't Working

*Audigy 2 ZS - Rear Speakers Aren't Working-Well, before on XP, just restarting, and re-installing my drivers worked flawlessly.
Since XP, I've installed W7 x64 Bit, and the rear never worked, but I didn't mind, as I was always using my headset for gaming, but now that I've stopped gaming so much, and listen to music much more, I've been wanting my rear speakers back!
Anyways, I've tried the nati've, original Creative drivers, no go.
I'm using Daniel K's right now, no go.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Here's my rig-
Windows 7 x64 Bit - Ultimate
AMD Athlon II X4 620 @ 2.6GHZ
Biostar A770E3 Motherboard
Corsair DDR3 333mhz 4GB - Two sticks - Dual Channel
BFG Tech GTS 250
Creative Audigy 2 ZS
600W Power Supply

I got this problem when I updated to the new drivers, so that might be your problem since you recently updated. Check to make sure that your speakers settings are for 5. and not stereo. Also make sure that the speaker system is set to receive 6 channel input instead of stereo -- I know my Logitech 5500 system can set to stereo even if it is receiving 6 channels in.

• Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - Speaker issues not covered by FAQs

FSoundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - Speaker issues not covered by FAQs? ?
Greetings..
Running into a bit of a issue here I can't seem to fix. I've gone through the troubleshooting guides and FAQs already and they aren't resolving the issue.
My normal setup is a couple of desktop speakers plugged to the rear of the card through the standard ports (non-digital) and a headset with mic plugged to the device in front that includes volume controls for both mic and speakers.
I've just did a complete reinstall of Windows XP (32 bit) including everything up through SP3 and a reinstall of the drivers and associated software applications for the card as well.
The problem I am having is that I can no longer make the rear speakers (desktop speakers) play when plugged in. The 2 headset speakers still play just fine that are plugged in the front however.
What should I do to resolve this issue so that I can have both the desktop speakers and headset speakers both playing? I'm fairly sure I'm just missing a setting somewhere but for the life of me I can't figure where to fix this.
Thank you,
Culann HS

• Both rear output is heard through left rear speaker, none in right rear spea

I have a Soundblaster Audigy card with Creative Insire 5. 5200 Speakers. The problem I am having is no sound is heard from the right rear speaker channel. I know the speaker works, as I have switched them around to check (they all work). Doing the speaker test, all speakers are heard in order, and when it gets to the left rear speaker, it plays both the right and left rear message. In other words, both my right and left rear sounds are playing on the left rear speaker, with no sound out of the right rear speaker. I have all of the updated drivers for the product. I don't know if it is hardware or software related, or if it is the speaker system, but I do know all the speakers work. I am showing no problems (even hidden) in the hardware manager. Any help or clues would be appreciated

Bump !!?Cause I am having this exact same problem with my xf-i (XtremeMusic) and my logitech Z-5500 Speakers. I have them connected using the 3 analog wires and yes, they are correctly plugged in. The Logitech Control Pod is set with the switch in the rear to the 6 channel position and the Pod is listed as the source being 'Direct' and '6 Channel' when I try this. When I run the speaker test, it fails the right rear speaker (no sound) and when I try the left rear, the sound comes out of both rear speakers. I have also tried the THX speaker setup settings and they do the same thing on the test (set for 5.). Also, I have all the settings on the Entertainment module set to push the audio to the External Decoder (for everything, since the 5500's can do this, decode DTS and Dolby). Regardless, it should at least be able to pass the Speaker Test. I did have an Audigy card installed, but I removed it before installing this card. The only thing I had installed for the Audigy was the drivers and there was nothing listed in 'add/remove' to remove them. I had none of the apps installed (cause I knew the xf-i was coming)?I sent a email to creative and have heard nothing (been a day, I know they say -2 days, but come on, hire people !!). Can someone out there please help !
!!! Thank alot?Dr-

• 4.1 Speaker Setup - No sound from rear speak

Opsys: Windows 2000 (just installed)
Card: Audigy 2 ZS Platinum
Software: Installed full sets of Creative software, everything runs
I'm trying to set up a 4. system where I'm using 2 set sets of stereo speakers plugged into line outs # and #2.
The problem is that I get sound only from line out #. All attempts at plugging the second set of speakers into the other line outs doesn't do anything for sound. I have switched the 2 sets around and they both work from lineout #.
The speaker calibration program only works for the front left and right speaker (i.e. no rear speaker output). I have tried more than just the 4. option, but none of them produce any sound to the rear speakers.
I have enabled EAX and CMSS, but this hasn't done any good. Still no sound from the rear speakers.
I checked the speaker set up and the volumes are midway for all speakers, both front and back.
Soooo. My guess is driver problems or maybe the 2 way stereo plug doesn't work with the 3 way plugs of line out #2 and #3.
Any ideas?
Rick

Okay, I get the stupid award for this one. I didn't notice that I was plugging my rear speakers into to the mic instead of the lineout 2. Well, in my defense, they are symetrically located around lineout and they do fit.
I would suggest people with sound issues to look at the other utilities. The one that helped was the Thx Setup console. This displays all info about the speakers, analog/digital settings, and even a picture showing the card plugs (that got the noodle thinking).
Also the Surround Mixer showed the correct configuration of the 4 speakers but without a sub hooked up. This fits my 2 stereo connections exactly.
Cheers.

• Losing output from rear speak

Hello,
I have a SB Audigy 2 DS sound card and a Dell 5. Surround Sound speaker systems. All the speaker tests work and normally all the speakers work.
My problem is that sometime I notice that the sound has stopped coming out of the rear speakers. I don't really no what causes it or what it is that I manage to do to get it restored.
When I notice it, I usually end up rebooting, monkeying around with the calibration settings, monkeying around in the Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices>Speaker setting, etc. Everything always looks normal and after monkeying around long enough the rear sound is usually restored.
I just noticed it and spent fi've minutes monkeying around getting it restored. This is becoming frustrating as everything work perfectly for over a year. There most be some sort of conflict but what and where is beyond me.
If any of you readers have ever experience anything like this and can offer assistance I will appreciate it. Thanks.

Here's a tip from something that I discovered. Not sure who/what resets the volumes, but for some reason Windows will set the volume for all channels OTHER THAN left/right to 0, effecti'vely muting them. The solution? Go to "Control Panel", "Sound and Audio Devices", click on "Speaker Voume..." in the bottom half, and make sure that all the sliders are at max or at least moving together. This was my problem when I lost center and rear speaker outputs despite all other testing showing no problem.

• Inspire 5200 5.1 sound from both R & L rear speakers coming from left rear speaker only

I have done a complete sound system check, every thing check out good. From the rear speakers I am only getting sound from left rear. When i do a speaker check, when right rear speaker lites, sound comes from left rear. when left rear speaker lites sound also comes from left rear speaker.

creek,
You may have to check with your sound card manufacturer for special setting to upmix the Stereo to the rest of the speaker.
If you are using Creative 5.1 sound card, you can refer to the link for the CMSS upmix feature.

• Having Problem With Inspire 5.1 5300 rear speaker...

After using my inspire 5.1 5300 for few year... right now im having problem with my rear speaker... just one channel was unable to start... Anyone know about repairing for speaker ? I Have try to switch to other channel it seem that just that rear speaker was unable to start... all should be ok... week before i still hearing sound from that rear speaker... but now it was unable to start. Anyone Have Any Idea Please Tell Me. Thank You

Just to clarify, by "FCP 5 friendly source material," he means video files that are a format (codec) that FCP 5 supports. What FCP 5 supports can be found in the EASY SETUP list. If the format you are working with isn't there, say if your footage is H.264 or MP4 or some other web compressed format, FCP won't work properly. It needs to be in an editing codec if you want FCP 5 to work with it.
Also, you need to make sure that your sequence settings match the settings of the footage you are trying to edit. If you add a clip to the sequence, and immediately have to render, that's a big clue to say that something isn't right. You should edit without rendering at all.
The most important thing you need to do is properly set up your project from the start, and the best way to do this is to choose a setting from the Easy Setups, located under the Final Cut Pro menu. Once you do this, you’ll need to create a new sequence. This is because the sequence that is already in your new project is setup for the typical default setting of DV/NTSC, or for the settings of your last project, which might not match what you are currently working with. So delete SEQUENCE 1 and create a new sequence:
This new sequence will contain the settings you chose in the Easy Setup menu, and should match the format you captured

• Rear speaker problem

Hi, i have 4 speakers and a subwoofer. Mainboard is asrock xtreme4 which come with realtek hd audio.
You may know the famous "rear speaker problem" on windows products. While speaker test just works fine, rear speaker never works on media player, winamp etc...
But recently it become really interesting because, that rear speakers works fine on firefox browser 22.0. So it gave me hope the solve this problem once and for all.
Right now, when i listening any thing on firefox, rear speakers works fine. But not working on Chrome and other stuff.
What firefox 22.0 made to work speakers fine?

hey have you tryed connecting other speakers to the bad connected one and see if it was not a bad channel? if so then let me know and I will look in to this problem more and try my best to get you the answers your looking for ok

• DDL or DTS = no sound out of rear speak

I have a sb xfi plat with optical out going to a dd/dts reciever and every time i play an mp3 i only get sound out of the front speakers and not my rears, is anyone else having this issue?

bigjohns97 wrote:
Thank you for the responce, however with every other DDL / DTS connect (nforce2 soundstorm,?blue gears, auzentech) you could enable DDL or DTS connect and any stereo source would automatically be 5. or 6. surround sound. See below.
MP3 source -> real ddl/dts connect sound car?-> dolby digital / dts stream -> external reciever with dolby digital dts light on +sound on all speakers
On the sound blaster the following happens
MP3 source ->?sb xfi plat -> dolby digital /dts stream with only 2 channels being used?-> external reciever with DD or DTS light on + sound from only front speakers.
Are you telling me this is how?creative designed this to work because?it isn't working like?every other DDL / DTS connect card out there.
I don't kow how and where exactly the defferences are between those solutions. But as I told it, it is the way the Creative implemention handles it. If you don't use CMSS-3D or use the surround functions of you Decoder (I have a seperate balance for "surround" on my Z-5500 where I can set If the rear speaker are used *at all*) you won't get automaticly Surround Sound with MP3. Of course it still depends a bit on you player software, there are player/filters (AC3 Filter; ffdshow) out there which can do that too. Upmixing Stuff, I mean but then you don't really need DDL. I use it to encode actual game sounds, because strangely I don't have any popping and noise in there while I use it (just read up that crackling/popping thread.

• Nothing from my rear speaker and sub using VISTA with SB X-Fi Xtreme Noteb

I know many people have problems with audio not coming out of their rear speaker. I can't seem to even get sound from the diagnosis tests. All I hear is sound and noise coming out of my front speakers and nothing else. Is this a Windows Vista driver problem?

I don't know if this is going to help or not..
. Is on-board sound disabled in the bios?
2. Have you gone through the Win XP control panel playback and recording settings to make sure microphone isn't disabled?
3. Is digital line-in disabled?
4. In the Soundblaster Control Console you've selected mixer and then selected line-in 2 / mic 2 by clicking on the "rec" slider?
Good luck.

• MS-7030 Motherboard front headphone and rear speaker out

I need help on my setting for the K8N Platinum Neo (MS-7030) Motherboard, so that I could have both the front headphone and rear speaker out working.
As in the manual (Page 2-20), for the Line-Out connector on the back panel to function, I have to jumpered pins 5 & 6, 9 & 10. This will disable the front audio headphone.
But I need both to work, then how should be my setup?
Please help ! ! !

I wanted the same thing - rear speaker connection plugged in permanently but the possibility of plugging in headphones to the front connector when I need them.
My speakers have an SPDIF (coax) socket and I found to my pleasant surprise that removing the jumpers to redirect the line-out signal to the front does not interfere with audio out through SPDIF.
So one answer (if your speakers support it) is to take out the jumpers, use SPDIF for the rear speakers and plug the phones in the front when you need them.
(I have the Neo Plat but haven't updated my sig yet).
[edit] Continuing the theme, if you don't have SPDIF input and given that it's only the line-out signal that is redirected, you can get a coax cable for the SPDIF out and a converter to go between the cable and your speaker jack input. I used just such a converter (just 1"/2cm long) for my KT3 board which had SPDIF out on an S-bracket but MSI brilliantly used a standard 2.5mm jack socket for it!
