Audigy 2 ZS: Stero Sound, but not device not detect
I'm using an Audigy 2 ZS card, driver version 5.2..442 with Windows XP.
The card produces stereo sound, but nothing in the other speakers in my 5. setup.
When I try to load up the Creative Speaker Settings, I got a 'Speaker Settings' error dialog stating "The audio device supported by this application is not detected."
There are no apparent problems with the device when checking the device manager.
Thanks for any help.
I solved my problem by changing to driver version 5.2.3.00. Creative Applications such as speaker settings load without error messages, and sound is 5., not just stero.

Using Azul media player app on my ipad Apple tv will only display sound but not video from movies. Any ideas on a fix. I set mirroring to on but it still does not display video. It will display photos and video recorded from my iphone.
Here are the steps for AirPlay:
Before starting Azul from your (running iOS 5.x/6.x) home screen where have have all your apps we need to turn on mirroring
On your iPhone 4S/5 or iPad 2 or 3, double-click the Home Button to view your recently-used apps.
Swipe all the way to the right to until you see the icon.
Note: If the icon does not appear, go to the "If AirPlay Mirroring is not visible or available on your mobile iOS device" section.
Tap the icon to see the list of available AirPlay devices.
Enable AirPlay Mirroring in this menu by tapping on an available Apple TV, then sliding the Mirroring slider to ON.
Now you should be seeing your iPad/iPhone on your TV.
Start up Azul now and using the settings icon on the top right corner go to the option that say "TV out" ON.
When you do that you will see an Orange screen
Now click "Done" and play the video you want to watch and it will AirPlay -
My movies and music videos won't show up on my computer screen, I can hear the sound but not see the video how do I fix this? I'm not sure what to do as far as turning my purchased movie into DVD goes either. I just want to put the movie onto a DVD disc but my itunes won't even show that I have a blank disc in the drive, I'm not sure what is wrong or how to fix this, any help at all would be much appreciated.
Hi @anthony7722 ,
Thank you for your query, I will do my best to help!
I grasp that you uninstalled the Intel graphic driver and the catalyst control. You reinstalled the Intel driver and now you can view and hear videos on the Internet but you are unable to set the resolution as high as previously.
When I checked the specifications for your notebook I see that you have switchable graphics.
Here are two links that I believe will help.
Overview of Switchable Graphics or Dual GPUs
Switchable Graphics on Notebooks Configured with Intel and ATI GPUs
Here is a link to HP Pavilion dv7-6150eb Entertainment Notebook PC Drivers
Please try this process.
1. Download the chipset driver, and both graphic drivers and save them but do not install them yet
2, Delete the chipset driver and install the updated one.
3. restart your notebook
4.Delete the Intel driver and install the updated one
5. restart your notebook
6. Delete the AMD driver and install the updated driver.
You should now have a Catalyst Control Center.
This should now allow you to use the higher graphic card which should support the higher resolution.
I hope this helped.

Firefox Browser Outlook SkyDrive playing m4v file with sound but not video
Firefox Browser Outlook SkyDrive playing the m4v file. I have sound but not the video. Sound and video play ok with IE10.
I'm amazed that each time these type of problems arise we get the same advice time-and-again to go through this exceedingly manual process of due-diligence checks-and-balances to figure out what it is that we have as ad-ons that supposedly now clash with changes that FF have made to the browser.
Everything is provided to FF with the post yet we are expected to check in SafeMode everything that was passed compatible when FF was updated.
It all comes across a bit lazy I have to say - no disrespect intended to some at FF who will no doubt come back to "slap my wrist", telling me not to be "rude", "refrain from using so many ????? together", telling me yet again "the problem is with your plugins" - especially when history shows us that such checks I'm asked to make "after the event" often do not resolve the problem, more so given that the last FF Update validated all of them, switch off those that weren't and checks on them since show that all are the latest up-to-date without any changes being made to them by me . Then the problem gets resolved by someone else on the forum basically beta testing what should have been checked-out thoroughly by FF in the first place.
Sorry to go on a bit of a rant-and-rage B-U-T we are not getting these repeated problems withe other browsers which we are getting more and more frequently with FF.
Never mind. I'll go through this rigmarole of checks yet AGAIN, no doubt then having to put up with the same sequence of threads from the likes of Morbus re the Plugin-container fiasco "Nothing to do with this [whatever we put forward it might be]. Try flash [or this or that or something else]. Uninstall it and reinstall it. Make sure it's up to date too.", like we're a bunch of morans who don't have the dummy sense to check these things out thoroughly before we go asking for help on the FF Forum.
"Let's blame the add-ons that have nothing to do with FF" Nowt has changed on that front since 08/2010.
Still, what can we really expect from a free browser? A browser that works?????
I hate IE --- but at least it isn't failling over with hardware acceleration issues every few updates!!!!! -
[Amixer] Invalid Argument - Sound but not levels
\o/
I recently bought a USB Headset. I'm using ALSA without Pulseaudio. The sound is working fine, but I have a problem setting levels etc.
When I open amixer and the default card is set to the headset, the mixer fails to load with
amixer: Mixer default load error: Invalid argument
I have read the whole internets about this. The usb-snd kernel module is loaded properly.
Some intel users have fixed their issue with using mode=generic. But if i'm correct this will disable 7.1 playback ability.
This is the output from

A frickload of kudos to anybody that will either be able to recommend an alternative mixer (without having to install OSS/Pulse) or be able to link or recommend a fix.
Kind regards,
MastermindSo I just spent another couple of hours battling with alsa.
I went from sound but no mixer, to no sound at all. And then back to having sound again after 4 hours of command mashing. All that after just a weekend in suspend/standby.
The only difference I could detect was that the subdevice on the card changed, but simply defining (and alsa restoring) that one in the ~/.asoundrc did not do the trick.
I also came across a more detailed error with the crashing alsamixer.
/usr/share/alsa/init/default:171: value write error: Invalid argument
/usr/share/alsa/init/default:185: value write error: Invalid argument
Commenting these lines did not fix the error.

Audigy 2zs notebook - Can hear but NOT record effect of Graphic Equalizer
Dear people,
Audigy 2zs notebook card, using with sonar-le to record (and also with Audacity).
I can record all I play with my soft synths, and mic voice, perfectly. Various tracks simultneously.
Playback is also great.
I use sonar-le in Asio 2-Mode, and MME and all works good.
HOWEVER, I bring up the Creative equalizer, and I enable it, it makes a NOTORIOUS difference.. I can enable it while I am recording, before, or after.
So I record a track as usual, but I enable the equalizer, and I am FINDING-OUT that I can not seem to be able to RECORD the effect of the creative EQUALIZER!
Even though I can hear it in and out, big difference, the track recorded wave continues to record as if it does not see the equalizer at all.
I have tried all available inputs and many many things, but I just can not get the eq. effects to RECORD.
I have two speakers connected to the dongle that attaches to the notebook card... I have also tried using headphones, directly connected to card, and all I can think. I tried also mme mode.
I also tried audacity and same. Can't get the recording to be like what I hear with the headphones.
Why would this be? How can I solve the problem?
Thanks a lot!neutron wrote:
Whoops!? That sequencer/recording application "Cubasis VST 4" comes packaged with Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro but not with the Notebook soundcard. A similar product Cubasis LE comes with X-Fi Elite Pro.
I haven't seen any details of the internal layout/architecture of the sound card, but I don't think that would help you in terms of some new configurations for recording.
In terms of recording capability, since there is only one input port with the NOtebook card, you are of course fairly limited in terms of connectivity, unless you have an external mixer (if you are talking about recording two things at the same time).
However, the audio quality of the Notebook card is certainly good enough to record very good quality audio with S/N, THD etc. My opinion is that people spend way too much time fussing about specs, noise etc. where in reality, most external transducers (mics, guitars etc.) always limit the recorded quality (unless you have really good professional recording gear and you have a lot of experience.
I've heard outstanding quality recorded music made on recording gear with much poorer specs than the Notebook card.
Best thing with your Notebook card is do what you've been doing. Use it and experiment and concentrate on the music generation itself.
Thanks for the reply!
I gather that the application may not be downloadable, specially if it is third-party. I do have the Synth effect, though that I can plug into Sonar.. I like the hardware enabled effects, though, specially since my music playing/recording system is a little complex.
Yes, I do have external hardware mixers, and though there is only the mic/line input, that's not too bad since this card has MANY internal inputs and outputs that I DO USE. All? of my instruments and music is now software based..Only the Mic is external. That's why the hardware synth of the 2zs laptop is so attracti've.. It does not bear on cpu or data... That's why I asked about architecture info orient myself.
Also, I may be wrong, but I read that many of the hardware capabilities of the 2zs notebook card are no longer there on the newer cards... That effects and other things are now mostly software based? Is that so?...Can I use two cards on the laptop, the 2 zs and the express slot one simultneously and have more inputs/outputs?
I am still interested in all practical possibilities, and I do like the Creative soundcards.
The great thig is that you told me that the Eq can not be recorded, so that's very important to me.. I can still record it, though out into a second laptop via the headphone jack. But I will try the VST's I have here first and see how they feel and sound.
It really amazes me, though, that I can hear the effect, but there's no way to record it.
Maybe a new driver could do it's
Thanks and best wishes! -
I have recently bought a Seagate Goflex satellite mobile wireless hardrive , i have converted some of my AVI movies to MP4 and loaded them onto the hard drive, when I try and play them through my I pad2 I can hear the sound of the movie but not see the film, somebody please help, what am I doing wrong as I have spent a lot of time converting these movies to be able to travel with my iPad and watch them. Thank you
Unfortunately, the drive is pretty much restricted without hacking it. That is, you can't stream its content via standardized protocols like UPnP, SMB, FTP and the like. This makes you won't be able to access its content from any third-party apps otherwise capable of playing back AVI files from UPnP / SMB / FTP / WebDAV etc. sources.
While this is certainly not a recommendation (I can in no way be held responsible if anything goes wrong): you may want to consider extending the capabilities of the drive by installing the hack: http://www.hackseagatesatellite.com/wordpress/welcome/
It'll "open" the drive for third-party, AVI-capable multimedia apps like GoodPlayer, It's Playing etc. to directly play the files over the network. -

New Help Pls! Sound Card Not Detected
Hello,
I decided to re-install windows 7 because it has been a long time since I had a "clean" install. I had my Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-FI Xtreme Gamer installed and it worked fine. But after I re-installed windows 7, the sound card would not be detected.
Because this happened to me last time I installed windows 7, I wiped my system dri've (C) and re-installed windows. However, this did not fixed the issue because the card is still not detected and it shows yellow in the device manager.
In my second install, I removed the card before installing windows because I thought it would detect it after the installation but it didn't.
I have tried installing manually, but it says:
Creative X-Fi Audio Processor (WMD) not found
I am really running out of ideas here and I would appreciate it if someone could tell me how to fix this.I just tried to move the sound card to another PCI slot, I uninstalled the devices in the media manager, turned off the PC and switched the card. I made sure there was no dust.
I also disabled onboard audio. When I turned the PC back on the computer tried to install drivers for new devices but failed. I still cannot install my drivers -.-
If it helps, the card shows as "Multimedia Audio Controller" under "Other Devices"... -
When I connect cam to my USB port It is detected by the system and working properly when running from My computer(USB Image Device #2). But when I am installing the software "Creative Live! Cam Sync (VF0520) Starter Pack 2.00.18" then it says "Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system".
When I connect the cam first time to the system It create instance (USB Image Device) in my computer and works fine and software was also installed to the system. Then I ran my software it shows parental control image and did not detect any image then I plug-out cam from the usb port and then plug-into different usb port the new instance(USB image Device #2) after this software not detect the camera. I uninstall the software then I trying to reinstall again but It not detect the camera and shows error "Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system" while my cam is attached to the usb port.
Hope you understand my problem. Thanks in advance.
I used Windows XP professional service pack 2buddy, sorry but i have bad news for u .... i had the same problem .... i contacted the customer support and they kept tossing me around between tham asking me to do this and that and the other thing and none of them worked .... ok .... i had to exchange the cam from where i bought it .... the replacement workd for two days .... and then broke off again the same way the first one did .... its cheaply manufactured cam is what it is all about .... i contacted them again .... anyway the last email they sent me saying that they had escalated the problem for more investigation and i did not hear anything from them till now .... and by the way it doesnt matter what operating system u r using .... i used on windows 7 and xp sp3

Sound card not detecting digital cab
I'm having a problem getting the digital out to work on my X-Fi Gamer. I purchased the card and also the breakout box that provides s/pdif i/o via coax and digital through the /8 jack. I connect it via an optical cable to my surround receiver. I've installed all the proper software, etc, and I can get absolutely no sound.
My thought is that the card is not detecting my optical connection. In the "flexijack" options everything is grayed out and I cannot choose digital at all. In speaker set up it has the analog connections marked at plugged in (with cords coming out) and not the flexijack connection. Only the flexijack is plugged in on the card, though. Per other posts on the boards I've made sure no other sound devices are set as default, and my onboard sound is disabled completely. I'm using a creative approved adapter (the digital i/o box) with a working cable, and working receiver. Any help would be really appreciated.
I'm running windows Media Center XP 2005, by the way.Hey MrE, did you ever get this issue sorted?
I had exactly the same symptoms recently with my new system build, and it ended up being caused by a conflict with my video card. When I booted the system using the motherboards onboard video, my ice1712 card would then be detected by ALSA and worked as it should.
I ended up moving my video card to the 2nd / bottom PCI-E on my motherboard and this got around the issue -
